Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

Ooh asian greens looks good! She did a lot of cooking shows and books years ago, and I loved her. Glad to see she's still around!

How are you doing @purpledaisies and @rainingbatsandfrogs?

I feel I finally have my mojo back!! Eating much better and working out again. Yay! A month until the dress fitting. Let's hope I get to take the dress in!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 01/03/2021 18:12

Wow! Well done you! Welcome back Mojo! This is your time: Baba, new job, new bod, wedding! The working out will help you look (even more) fantastic in that dress.

I have been doing well - the exercise has dropped off a bit recently and I think I am down 200g from last week - so just under the full pack o butter, but mostly I am maintaining now. Just want to tone up a bit before the swimming pool opens again. Can't wait for the gym to open.

PurpleDaisies · 01/03/2021 18:49

Hooray for mojo! The sunny weather has cheered me up a bit which I’m very pleased about. The weight is up a little bit, but only a little bit so I’m not too worried. I’ll be back down next week when it’s not period week.

I’m loving the new cook book. We had loads of sprouts in the veg box and I’ve done two different recipes using them which have both been delicious.

I’ve ordered a new swimming costume ready for the reopening of the pool. I’ve very much missed a swim.

BrimfulOfBaba · 03/03/2021 08:27

Aww thank you!! I finished a legs circuit yesterday for the first time in ages and I'm smiling through the pain 😂

@RainingBatsAndfrogs congrats on the butter pack loss! I must calculate mine similarly! @PurpleDaisies I think I need to buy that book.

How are we doing this week?

PurpleDaisies · 04/03/2021 10:01

I hurt my hand so couldn’t use dumbbells this week for my hiit class. That meant I got give a load of leg alternatives to anything arms and my arse has been aching ever since. I suppose that’s good!

I picked up a d and v bug (how?!!!) so I’ve just been eating anything I can keep down. It’s been a beige feast. I’m feeling a bit better today and absolutely craving veg.

I few years ago I had bad norovirus and lost loads of weight which (entirely predictably) went straight back on afterwards when I could eat properly. In my youthful stupidity, I bought a very expensive pair of jeans at my skinniest and could never get them on again. I’m not doing that this time!

BrimfulOfBaba · 05/03/2021 11:18

Ahh @PurpleDaisies are you feeling better now?

Good on you for finding alternative exercises! I would have taken a hurt hand as a free pass to not work out!

My calories have been slightly over this week but I am still noticing a difference, a definite loss in water weight and and seeing some shape returning :)

PurpleDaisies · 05/03/2021 18:29

Much better @BrimfulOfBaba thanks. Y hand is a bit sore but managed Hiit this morning with some lighter weights. Bug has gone and appetite is back. I’m giving myself a few days free pass to get a bit more back to normal.

It’s really nice seeing changes in shape! I’ve bought a new swimming costume for when the pool is open and I’m much happier with how it looks than I would have been a few months ago.

lustforlife · 05/03/2021 19:22

Hope it's not too late to join Smile I am 7 months postpartum and currently weigh 10 stone 4 (my heaviest ever). Starting to feel more myself now after having DD so feeling optimistic about losing around 1.5 stone before the summer. I'm a terrible sugar addict so I'm hoping cutting out the chocolate I eat daily will help me a little bit. Also trying to get out for 2x dog walks a day instead of 1 and going to try to hit 10k steps daily

applepineapple · 08/03/2021 09:42

Can I join too? I keep getting so close to my GW, and then sabotaging myself with chocolate and sugar.

I'm so fed up of doing this to myself, I really need to stay accountable for my actions. I'm starting again today at 59.2 and logging my food into Lose It. I've also started a headspace course on mindful eating and one technique that stood out to me was 'noting' when you felt a certain craving or feeling and then moving on rather than continuing to think and obsess over the food which I definitely do.

Long post over, looking forwards to reaching my goal weight finally Grin

PurpleDaisies · 08/03/2021 10:49

All are welcome!

I’ve been on the scales and as sitting happily two packs of butter below target so that’s good. I’ve very unenthusiastically done a Hiit class this morning.! I’m sure half arsed can’t really be bothered is better than nothing. There’s a meal plan for the week with lots of veg. Just need to stick to it! Coffee next though...

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 08/03/2021 11:44

Down 800g from 2 weeks ago, so 600g this last week, I think. That's fine for me in my general 'slow and steady' campaign and I am mostly trying to maintain and tone up, now.

Brimful great work on your work outs! You will see results so fast.
PurpleDaisies I hope you are fully recovered by now. Nice to have a new swimsuit. I swam and swam last summer, and just looked at my old swimsuit - so FRUMPY! ('tummy control panel' in matronly black, I just wanted to hide last summer, daft, really, no one else cares) , so I am looking for something new and smart and fun for when the outdoor pool opens again (and has warmed up a bit).

2 Packs of butter sounds a good contingency and broad level to stay at.

Hello lustforlife and applepineapple - I found that stopping the snacking was key. Took me about a week to break the habit and for it not to feel like a strain. Cutting the sugar rush really works. Also, enjoying nice healthy food rather than 'enduring' a 'diet' worked for me - which I guess is like mindfulness.

Good luck!

BrimfulOfBaba · 08/03/2021 13:02

Hi @lustforlife and @applepineapple - welcome! It's helpful to feel like there's a group to lean on :)

applepineapple I'd be interested to know how noting the cravings work. I tend to obsess which leads to me just eating whatever I fancy, so any tips to nip that in the bud welcome!

@PurpleDaisies I hope you're better? Unenthusiastic workout 100% trumps not doing one at all!!

@RainingBatsAndFrogs, yay, shopping for a fun new swimsuit will feel so good!

I did all three of my Kayla Itsines workouts last week, for the first time in months! Excited to continue this week (although my period is on the horizon and threatening me with insane cake cravings) and continue eating in a balanced way :)

PurpleDaisies · 08/03/2021 13:33

Much better, thanks everyone. I’m back on the spice after all the bland food. I accidentally made a super hot stir fry paste (wrong chillis) which I’ve got with tofu and broccoli for lunch. It’s so tasty but my goodness my mouth is burning!

This is my new swimming costume...thank you Sainsbury’s. It looks nicer in real life and I can’t wait to wear it and it was only £16.

I agree with controlling snacking. For me, real life means I find it helpful to have a pot of things that are roughly 100 calories so I can I have one at break time and one mid afternoon. Nothing bingeworthy in there!

Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?
RainingBatsAndFrogs · 08/03/2021 14:49

I was looking at that swimming costume, I love the print!

So much for practicing what I preach, half a bar of Tony’s Chocoloney that I had bought to go with Dc Easter egg waylaid me after a healthy lunch 🙄.

BrimfulOfBaba · 11/03/2021 14:05

SUCH a cute swimming suit @PurpleDaisies! I feel like Sainsbury's has been trotting out some Zara/Monki-worthy clothes lately :)

@RainingBatsAndfrogs are you me?? I recently got a milk chocolate Tony's rather than my usual dark because it was a flavour I haven't tried (almond honey nougat omg) and it is IMMENSELY more scoff-able.

I have been close to demanding a medal of some sort, from anyone, for doing hit circuits on the first two days of my period despite really not wanting to! Also I have logged into MFP for 12 days straight, my longest streak since wobbling over January.

Also proud of myself for admitting that I need to start my Kayla BBG programme from week 1 as the latter weeks are now too challenging for me to give my all to. I cannot cope with the push ups at the moment. So I'm looking forward to getting back to that.

So...it feels like I am back in the swing of the routine I want for myself. I feel so much better already. Really hoping I stay here!

Hope all you are having good weeks?

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 11/03/2021 14:45

LOL - that was IT!I AM you! The very same bar, in the yellow wrapper. I hadn't seen that one before and it was on special offer in Sainsbury's. And I bought it to go with a Dc's Tony's Easter eggs - and it was just there, in my desk drawer, next to me.

Until it wasn't!

For your hit circuits and MFP log-ins - I hereby award you a Big Shiny Medal!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 11/03/2021 14:47

I really want that swimming costume, but I wish it had higher raise legs - I can look a bit chunky with ow raise legs.

I will go and have a look when it arrives in store.

PurpleDaisies · 11/03/2021 16:40

I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived @RainingBatsAndFrogs, the legs didn’t look particularly low. I was pleased the body was long enough-that’s normally an issue for me. I love Sainsbury’s clothes and have lots from there.

I have never tried Tony’s chocolate. That’s going on the treat list!

Well done with the streak @BrimfulOfBaba. I’ve been for a walk every day for nearly a year and I think if you’re on a streak it really keeps you going when you’re not feeling like it.

BrimfulOfBaba · 11/03/2021 17:04

Yes! That flavour is delicious. @PurpleDaisies it really is a good treat. Especially as they're apparently the only chocolate manufacturer to not use slavery at any point in production, and are on a mission to eradicate it from ALL chocolate production.

A walk every day is really impressive! Inspiring me to make more of an effort to get out each day. So easy to stay put while working from home.

Thanks for the medal @RainingBatsAndFrogs, yaaay!

PurpleDaisies · 12/03/2021 13:25

I have just been to the shop and my Friday treat is a small bar of hazelnut Tony’s chocoloney with an americano. Oh my, it’s good. Thanks for the recommendation! I almost bought a big bar because it’s better value but figured I’d enjoy it more eating the right amount.

This morning I did a Hiit class (awful) and I’m waiting for a gap in the showers for today’s walk. Happy Friday everyone.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 14/03/2021 15:10

Right - would normally post tomorrow, the weigh in day of this thread, but I am so ridiculously pleased with myself that I am posting NOW!

Just went to Sainsbury's (partly to replace the BIG bar of Tony's Honey / Nougat / Almond choc that I bought for CD and ate in 2 days last week) and saw that they have their denim Bermuda shorts in stock. I have lived in these for the last two summers, in size 12 or 14.

I bought a size 10 - and they FIT!

PurpleDaisies · 15/03/2021 10:43

Wow @RainingBatsAndFrogs that’s fantastic! Well done. It’s such a win buying an actual smaller dress size. I think I’ve got two pairs of those Sainsbury’s denim shorts. They’re so useful.

I’m up a little this week. Still firmly in maintenance zone but I might cut out some of the extra snacks that have crept in. Meeting a friend for a coffee and walk later and I’ve just done a killer hiit class. Next job-food plan. I’ve seen an Anna Jones sweet potato baked daal recipe I fancy on the guardian website so that might be dinner tonight.

BrimfulOfBaba · 15/03/2021 16:27

Yay @RainingBatsAndfrogs that's amazing!

I finally weighed myself and the scores on the door were gutting. But I am not letting that get to me too much as I am happy with the progress I am making with my routine, I think I look ok and can see differences every day, and because sulking about it won't help!

BrimfulOfBaba · 30/03/2021 09:05

Hope you are all doing well! I'm feeling on track and had my wedding dress fitting which was great - I had hoped to have lost enough weight to have it taken in a bit, but I hadn't - it fit well. And that's a bit of a relief as I could do without the pressure. Regardless, arms and tum need sculpting! Just need to not lose so much the dress ends up too baggy.

I've started a new thread as slightly more intense tracking in a public space is what seems to work for me Blush!

PurpleDaisies · 30/03/2021 10:25

Exciting news about the wedding dress @BrimfulOfBaba. I’ll look at your other thread.

I’m down 1kg this week. I’ve been walking a lot because of the nicer weather and have found some lovely new routes. Food has been a bit hit and miss. I’ve made a plan which I’ve been ignoring because I’ve been tired after a virus. I was sure it was covid but tested negative. Need to change the eating plan to be more realistic about how much cooking I want to do at the moment. Last night I did a batch of lentil bolognese. Tonight will be a big batch of veggie stew. Tomorrow something else big so at least there’s healthy food in that just needs heating up,
