Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

That's amazing @RainingBatsAndFrogs!

Haha, every extra cm helps.

I am too nervous to weigh myself but still happy with the way I look and feel despite less exercise/tracking than I'd like. Back on track from this week but will ease myself into exercise a bit more - I went full throttle on Tuesday after two weeks off and could barely move the rest of the week!

I am desperate for a bit more accountability. My wedding dress fitting will be in March and I am hoping to at least have a more slender middle and toned arms, if not having dropped a full dress size. But I always find it hard this time of year.

Jemenfouscompletement · 14/12/2020 13:05

Raining that's amazing weight loss in 2 months good for you! And the drop from May - you must need a whole new wardrobe. Especially with the 2 extra centimetres!

Brimful i don't blame you for not weighing yourself. You have enough time in the New Year and as most people will be making an effort to give up or start a new habit it will be easier then. You can drop a dress size in 3 months easily.
I weighed in, am maintaining despite not being particularly careful about what I eat. Still running 10 miles a day fasted nothing to eat until lunch when I fill up on homemade soup and fruit, then less red wine, no cheese and moderate chocolate consumption after dinner in the evening. Christmas is really just the day here (and evening before) and as it will be just me, DH, my DC and his and none of us like eating loads or sitting at the table for hours I think the feasting will be fairly 'lite' and hopefully so will any potential weight gain!

Just a quick wave to everyone. 👋

This morning I hit my target weight and it was largely down to the support on the thread here. Thought I’d pop back. I’m rewarding myself with posh new leggings from Sweaty Betty.

@BrimfulOfBaba I’ve asked for a joe wickes cookbook for Christmas based in your recommendation. Excited about that! Really good luck with all the wedding planning. It must have been so hard.
@momo3w delicious looking aubergine dish (ages ago now!).

Now I’ve hit the magic number, I’m planning on focussing more one exercise and just generally eating well. Today’s dinner is a Wagamama wok from home special. The turmeric roast cauliflower is particularly lovely with the firecracker sauce from the tomatoes. I didn’t like the tofu guacamole much so skipping that.

RainingBatsAndfrogs · 16/12/2020 19:12

PurpleDaisies WELL DONE! Very happy for you!

Oooh, I have to look at the Wagammaa Wok From Home recipes! Love anythng involving spicy roasted cauliflower! (and I don't like tofu).

Enjoy your posh new leggings! You could wear them to Brimful's wedding Grin

How are you doing @PrincessConsuelaBH ?

That's amazing @PurpleDaisies I'm so delighted for you!! Good shout on the treat, and as @RainingBatsAndfrogs says, they would be ideal to wear for my wedding Grin

That dish looks amazing, I will have to peruse this weekend to recreate for lunches next week. I'm a sucker for turmeric cauliflower. I really hope you enjoy the Joe Wickes book!! His is definitely the book I use most, really quick but flavourful recipes.

I finally weighed myself after my three week relaxathon and thankfully it was 9st6 - just a few parts of a pound more than the last weigh in I had. However my body does not look the same as it did then - definitely wobblier, so I have likely lost muscle. Grr!! But I have been diligently working out and eating (without depriving myself!) to a caloric deficit so I know I'll be back on track soon.

PurpleDaisies · 17/12/2020 09:56

Thank you @BrimfulOfBaba and @RainingBatsAndFrogs...I love the idea of fancy leggings to a wedding. They are red with a leaf print. I reckon red high heels, a sparkly top and some sort of hat and I’m good to go. Plus if I stick my trainers in the car I can go for a run between the service and the reception. Perfect! What’s your wedding dress like Brimful? I bet it’s going to be gorgeous.

Today I’m hoping to take advantage of the gorgeous weather here by going for a walk in a massive local park with deer. Tonight is a practice for this weekend’s carol service so I’m trying to get in the Christmas spirit. Not feeling it yet, plus the parts I’ve ended up singing are bloody high. My neighbours probably hate me right now-sounds like something being tortured here at the moment.

I know what you mean about feeling wobbly. After a few days of no weights or work out I feel a bit like that too. I’m not sure how much is real or psychological but it’s a good motivation to keep going. Les mills online is great for quick workouts at random free times. I’ve got really into Barre lately.

Dinner is an easy one tonight. Leftover vegetable fajitas (with the random addition of a tin of baked beans due to unexpectedly hot chilli powder-surprisingly good!) and wholemeal wraps. It was nice on Sunday so I’m expecting the same tonight!

Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?
BrimfulOfBaba · 17/12/2020 14:32

Love those leggings and that sounds like a fab outfit! Here's the dress on me when I bought it. Not at all what I imagined I would like but there you go!

Ooh sounds like the perfect way of getting into the Christmas spirit - I'm sure your neighbours like it really!!

I'm going to give barre a go, there are lots of muscles I don't work and barre sounds ideal for working smaller ones. Also everyone who does barre seems to be really toned and cool!

I've stuck to my calorie deficit this week so far, and that includes during a virtual 'Cheesemas' lunch with colleagues - actually weighed out my boursin!

RebeccaNoodles · 17/12/2020 20:48

@BrimfulOfBaba you look absolutely beautiful! Very toned arms already IMO! The dress is really gorgeous ... makes me long to go to a wedding!
@PurpleDaisies congrats and I love the leggings and the idea of sneaking in a run!

I didn't 'report' on Monday - too disheartened as I put those 2 pounds I lost right back on. Sad I also wondered if maybe the thread was winding down as most of you seem to have made your goals? Which is great, congratulation to all! However, I have got back on the wagon and have also stuck with the running. Fingers crossed for Monday ...

PurpleDaisies · 18/12/2020 09:00

Oh what a gorgeous dress. You look absolutely stunning @BrimfulOfBaba. Hope you like barre. I found the moves quite tricky to start with and got a bit lost on some of the tracks but definitely stick with it.

@RebeccaNoodles don’t be disheartened. It’s such a hard time of year. 2lb is nothing.

It’s a hiit day today. I bought some rye bread in lidl as an end of term treat so I’ve had that with avocado for breakfast. Goodness knows what for lunch but it’s take away for dinner. Can’t wait!

Jemenfouscompletement · 18/12/2020 09:53

BrimfulOfBaba that's a lovely dress!

PurpleDaisies congratulation on getting to your target weight, just in time for Christmas.

RebeccaNoodles 2lbs can be water weight, don't worry, you are doing all the right things and continuing with running, that's the most important thing!

I'm back where I started but am not too worried, it was really for running in competitions I wanted to lose a few pounds but as there aren't any it isn't an issue. Happy to maintain especially during Christmas.

BrimfulOfBaba · 18/12/2020 11:36

Aw thank you all! Finding a dress I don't need to lose weight for has taken a lot of pressure off! I can just focus on feeling my best which feels healthier.

@RebeccaNoodles don't worry about those 2lbs, there are so many inner workings that makes the numbers on the scale fluctuate. Just keep doing what you know works :)

Oh @PurpleDaisies that brekkie sounds gorgeous. I think we are food twins sometimes.

Sounds like a great place to be, @Jemenfouscompletement! I'm also going to practice maintenance over Christmas. I'm not at my goal yet, but once I get my dress fitted around March, I'll have to try my best to stay wherever I get to!

Didn't do planned workout and dinner yesterday, in fact, DP and I got our favourite takeaway. However, I managed my portions (even whipped the food scale out) and did some extra walking, so even with a slim G&T I managed to be within my calorie deficit :) and didn't have the usual stuffed-until-painful feeling I usually have with a takeaway. And, bonus, I get a portion for lunch today!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 18/12/2020 18:36

Brimful that dress is really beautiful, and is great for your (great) shape. Gorgeous. You look so lovely.

PurpleDaisies Those leggings are SO wedding wear. Matching hat - good to go. Maybe a fascinator if a hat might get a bit sweaty on the run. And fall off in the mud.

Rebecca - If you hadn't lost the 2lbs you might be 4 lbs up by now, so it was worth doing...and you can do it again Smile

I am going to keep going for a bit: I still want the remaining flab off my middle. Also, I am not sure how to get to a maintaining level. And will definitely need a bit of a reset after Christmas. Not that I am so interested in stuffing myself as I was before readjusting my eating habits.

BrimfulOfBaba · 22/12/2020 10:22

Thank you @RainingBatsAndfrogs!

Miraculously maintaining at 9st6 for now but I'm really lapsing on the workouts. Have been doing some long walks and eating and drinking quite extravagantly but I think the balance will tip.

Just had to cancel plans to see friends for a walk today as I'm feeling under the weather but may take the opportunity to do a circuit or two if I feel up for it.

Hope everyone is doing well. The Christmas restriction news has been tough to take, but I hope you've all managed to make plans you're happy with.

PurpleDaisies · 22/12/2020 13:55

I’m feeling a bit sad not to be seeing family at all because of the restrictions but we’ve got everything for a nice Christmas here so it could be worse.

I’m the same with workouts @BrimfulOfBaba. Now dh is off work, he keeps getting in the way!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 23/12/2020 20:15

LOL, missed weigh in Monday!

First week in weeks that I have stayed the same and not lost some! That’s OK, panetonne for breakfast, picking at the tub of Celebrations, dealing with Christmas Plans and re-plans = no excercise.

Christmas is a feast, I plan to enjoy it while avoiding tipping down tons of stuff I don’t even like much (Quality Street! Roses!)

PurpleDaisies · 28/12/2020 11:28

How’s everyone’s Christmas been? I managed to see some family I haven’t seen for months and have eaten for Britain.

Frustratingly, I’ve got tagged by the NHS app and am stuck at home for a few days. It’s going to be hard not to eat all the biscuits...

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 28/12/2020 16:16

Oh, bad luck, PurpleDaisies!

I have enjoyed some really lovely food, a decent share of treats, but didn't go mad - not stuffing myself until I felt over-full, and my appetite anyway is smaller than it was before I started healthy eating, so I have pretty much maintained my weight.

Just been out for a long brisk walk, and resumed my indoor core strength building programme this morning.

Very parky (as we say where I come from) out for the walking now, isn't it?

BrimfulOfBaba · 28/12/2020 23:16

It's been a lovely festive period and I am still indulging more than is advisable!

Going to exercise and eat some proper meals tomorrow...maybe!

@PurpleDaisies ahh how frustrating, hope you get the all clear soon.

PurpleDaisies · 29/12/2020 09:37

It’s nippy here @RainingBatsAndfrogs! That’s my favourite kind of weather for walks-cold and bright.

@BrimfulOfBaba only four days to go. I’ve looked and the forecast is for sunshine. I can’t wait.

I did I hiit class yesterday and I am in pain today! I know it’s good for me but still. I am in a grump. We got a hello fresh box as a treat for between Christmas and new year. Tonight’s dinner is an aubergine curry. I’m doing a bit of head scratching to use up half a massive red cabbage, a huge bag of kale and an enormous swede. The freezer is full to bursting so my usual tactic of cooking and freezing isn’t going to do the job!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 29/12/2020 10:11

My favourite winter salad is finely shredded red cabbage, with some carrot, and a dressing of a little sesame oil, lime juice, fresh ginger, chilli and salt. I call it Zingy Slaw.

PurpleDaisies · 29/12/2020 10:14

I have all those things in RainingBatsandFrogs, thanks!

BrimfulOfBaba · 31/12/2020 21:41

Happy new year, ladies! I hope you've had an enjoyable evening.

May this year be a better one (wouldn't be hard!!) And fingers crossed we keep focused on our goals and positive and healthy in our approach! X

PurpleDaisies · 01/01/2021 16:50

Happy new year to you too @BrimfulOfBaba and everyone else on the thread!
Wishing all of us a better 2021 than 2020.

I’ve been for a walk which was lovely-there’s nothing like having to self isolate to make you appreciate going outdoors.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 04/01/2021 08:45

Happy New Year on this first Weigh In Monday of the year.

I didn’t really do weighing since the Christmas season started, enjoyed myself, but have kept up long brisk walks. And am down a bit since when I last weighed.

How is everyone? What shall we do with the thread?

A BrimfulOfBaba Wedding Dress / maintenance / fitness / toning healthy eating thread?
