Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

My take on the roasted miso eggplant with chilli/ginger/garlic tofu and salad 😋

Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?
BrimfulOfBaba · 26/11/2020 10:17

Ah @momo3w that looks absolutely delicious!! Will put this on the menu for next week.

Ha, now I'm wishing there was a John Wick workout and meal plan!! Maybe a MN entrepreneurship idea!? Re: veggie cookbooks, I've started acquiring quite a collection. Jamie Oliver's 'Veg' is excellent, Joe Wickes's veggie cookbook is great especially if you want speedy recipes, and I recently treated myself to two of Meera Sodha's books and Ottolenghi's 'Flavour' which all look great. Heard great things about Bosh's veggie book, too!

Monday - Wednesday, in terms of nutritious eating and exercise, have been a complete write-off. I am a little disappointed as my progress has been so great but hey, it's 3 days and if what I want is a healthy lifestyle, I'll have to learn to be ok with having 'off' days/weeks. On the flipside I have managed to organise lots of wedding prep and get on top of lots at work!

Thanks for the good luck momo, still struggling through the application but everything crossed!!

WILL be working out tonight and eating actual food (yesterday's dinner was most of one of those massive bags of Walkers Max hot wing crisps, haagen dazs and hot chocolate. No, I am not on my period!)

momo3w · 26/11/2020 16:57

@BrimfulOfBaba Thanks for the cookbook suggestions! Totally agree with your approach, it’s about the lifestyle after all. You have made great progress! I tend to be a bit all or nothing so my off days are OFF, I generally make really poor food choices and don’t exercise but I’m trying to work on that.

RebeccaNoodles · 29/11/2020 20:48

How is everyone doing? Hope everyone had a good weekend and feeling ready for December. I had a bad cold most of the week - which I normally would see as a reason to give up and snack but have managed to maintain and even went for a run yesterday after a weeks break (normally again this would be another reason to give up)
I had a bit of an insight too the other day - I thought there will always be another cookie/cake/pizza etc, none of it is unmissable, but the time is going by (I'm 41) and I won't have endless opportunities to shift this weight from my now 2 year old baby .. BlushSmile
@momo3w that looks delicious, I love aubergine. I know what you mean about being all or nothing, it's a challenge!
@Oxyiz for arms, I lov Pilates - you can google 'Pilates arm series' and get lots of 10 minute videos. Smile
Waves to everyone else

RebeccaNoodles · 29/11/2020 20:51

PS @BrimfulOfBaba well done on the wedding planning, it's very stressful even without a pandemic on!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 30/11/2020 08:03

Monday Weigh-In!

70.1 Kg
600g lost this week!

Happy with that as part of my ‘slow and steady’ approach.

Very happy that I ordered new jeans this week. When they arrived they were folded lengthways and looked v slim. I thought ‘oh no, I’ll never get into those’. Fitted just right, with ease. Everyone is commenting on how good I am looking when we meet for walks.

So pleased the gym is opening this week!

Good luck everyone.

Gordonsgrin · 30/11/2020 08:27

weigh-in day here too. A 2lb loss, happy with that, well into the vanity lbs for now. I realise I have been on the board when technically I had quite a lot to lose. You bunch are so lovely that no one passed comment.
I have lost 2 st 3 lbs in total, now have 11lbs to go. I should make that sometime in Jan.
Well done to everyone continuing to keep on keeping on!

Oxyiz · 30/11/2020 08:52

I have lost about 0.5 pounds this week. Slow and steady is good, so I'm very happy with that! Well done everyone who's soldiering on, whether you've maintained or dropped or whatever.

I will Google pilates arm exercises, thanks RebeccaNoodles.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 30/11/2020 09:03

GordonsGrin 2lbs is amazing!

I am also here as the final stages of a bigger campaign that I have been in since mid-May. And want to keep going for a few more Kgs. But this thread suits as people are doing their own thing, low emphasis on any extreme diet or regime, and support without guilt tripping or boot camping.

Oxyiz fantastic! That’s the equivalent of a pack of butter gone!

Jemenfouscompletement · 30/11/2020 10:35

Gordonsgrin wow, you have done brilliantly! And continuing to lose.
Oxyix 2lbs is 2 more than I've managed Blush
Rainingbats 600g lots of butter well done!

Not a great week here but not too worried, am not gaining so that's something. This week I won't be baking any cakes, no snacking, no red wine until at least the weekend, and less chocolate. But that's the plan every Monday, the willpower disappears quite quickly especially with the long winter evenings!

RebeccaNoodles · 30/11/2020 10:55

@RainingBatsAndFrogs I love those clothes milestones - you can have fun planning your Christmas outfit.
@Gordonsgrin that's fantastic!! You must feel a million dollars.
Slow and steady is brilliant @Oxyiz - it all adds up.
Well I've managed to gain a pound this week and back at 10 stone 4 - not the end of the world but I obviously need to be more strict with snacking especially in the evening. I am pleased though that I've kept up the running despite missing most of last weeks sessions - I should be doing 5 k by Christmas. And I WILL be below 10 stone then as well - taking me back into the 'healthy weight' bracket.
Good luck everyone.BrewDaffodil

Jemenfouscompletement · 30/11/2020 11:55

Rebecca - a 1b here or there is nothing, could even be water weight! I think just to maintain this time of year is pretty exceptional!
And I'm glad you are keeping up with running. My run this morning was freezing!

Gordonsgrin · 30/11/2020 12:13

Thanks everyone for the kind words. @RebeccaNoodles and @PrincessConsuelaBH I feel good but I am great at dieting, really struggle with maintaining.

I wonder if anyone is up for a maintenance support thread in the new year, I m clueless and need help!

BrimfulOfBaba · 30/11/2020 14:01

Well done everyone who's lost/maintained/none of the above but still happy :)

I'm not weighing in today, I didn't exercise at all last week or really count my calories. I am fine with that as I got to devote time to other things that needed doing and am ready to launch into this week anew :) especially as I have my first wedding dress appointment this weekend!

Definitely up for a new year's support thread. Also, I was wondering if there was any appetite for a support group for post lockdown? Once I'm expected back at the office (probably spring) I'm not sure how I'll adjust to having a workout and meal prep routine...

BrimfulOfBaba · 30/11/2020 14:03

Sorry, I referred to lockdown but mean post-covid, really!! I've basically been in lockdown since March, work-wise, so have referred to this whole period as such!

RebeccaNoodles · 02/12/2020 22:12

A maintenance/New Years/post lockdown thread sounds great. Will help me to think ahead now ... my goal is to enjoy Christmas feasting but for two or three days rather than two or three weeks (months?) as in previous years ...

I don't feel I'm making massive progress this week except that the running habit is now fixed - I went out this morning and was really pleased I did. Now on week 6 of Couch to 5k. It's a really great programme, I'd recommend it. You can choose different 'coaches' , I have Sarah Millican 😊

kwaziseyepatch · 03/12/2020 07:18

Hello vanity weight losers!

I've not weighed in for a bit, currently 9st 7 so 1lb loss since last time. Losing slowly but steadily about 1/2lb a week. Back at work after mat leave so less floating around the house snacking but maybe cancelled out by the presence of chocolate and biscuits at work. I think I'll weigh in next Monday and then aim to maintain throughout December given the year we've had

PragmaticPrinciple · 07/12/2020 07:15

69.6
500g down this week

I am happy with the way I looked when dressed, now, but want to get rid of belly flab. I am increasingly toned underneath it, but a handful had to go!

RebeccaNoodles · 07/12/2020 07:53

@PragmaticPrinciple congrats on the loss and even more importantly the toning! I bet you feel great.

Am delighted to report I've finally lost 2lb so now 10 stone 2. This group has really helped me feel accountable and keep on track. Yesterday while clearing up the kitchen I put a broken biscuit in the bin rather than eating it - felt like progress!

Good luck to all today, hope you're feeling positive.

Gordonsgrin · 07/12/2020 08:25

A loss of 1lb this week. Not as much as usual but I am determined not to be cross. So today’s weight is 9 st 3.75lbs.

Still a little way to go to target but going in the right direction. Hope everyone has a good day the scales are kind to you all.

BrimfulOfBaba · 07/12/2020 12:05

I've had a bit of a hiatus in terms of counting calories and exercising due to wedding planning, interview prep (for an interview I tanked!) and, to be honest, just not being bothered!

I bought my wedding dress yesterday! Wedding is in June and I am actually hoping to go down a size before the wedding so not sure how to best manage that. I am pleased that, when I needed to manage stress this weekend, my reaction was to get on the cross trainer and do a circuit to get my body moving.

Back on my workout plan from this evening, and getting back to eating at a deficit :) brekkie was a Pret chocolate brownie with coffee (I had just really embarrassed myself at the interview, so feel this is justified!), lunch will be leftover cheesy leek and mustard gnocchi and dinner will be a light paneer and tomato curry with brown rice.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 07/12/2020 14:33

BrimfulOfBaba - how exciting about your wedding dress! Give us a twirl!
Did you talk to them about going down a size? If you really do plan to do that, it could set you a target. They must be used to people changing size.

Bad luck about the interview - but they might see through to the thoroughly employable you!

RebeccaNoodle and Gordonsgrin - great stuff!

I lost my usual half kilo, but to be honest I weighed myself yesterday morning because yesterday afternoon I ate all the chocs in a spare advent calendar (only tiny Cadbury's chocs, not big Lindt truffles or anything, but still) and then I went out, was desperate to go OUT, and you have to have a 'substantial' meal with your drinks. So I did Grin.

So this morning's result was probably less encouraging.

Jemenfouscompletement · 08/12/2020 06:48

RebeccaNoodles you hard work is paying off, and the running too! Well done to everyone else, 1lb is 1lb more than I managed, but I'm not gaining, so that's something, with all the lovely food (chocolates!) available in the shops at the moment. I'd like to lose 1kg before Christmas if possible, but maintaining is OK.
Brimfulofbaba sorry about your job interview, I'm sure something better will come up. And you have plenty of time to drop a size before June!
Raining My DC were sent a Cadbury's advent calendar from the UK and I can confirm the chocolates are really tiny, even eating whole calendar would be fewer calories than a bar of chocolate.

I'm very Envy that you can go out for a substantial meal, all restaurants closed here until January at least.

BrimfulOfBaba · 08/12/2020 12:07

Thank you @RainingBatsAndFrogs and @Jemenfouscompletement! I've spoken to a seamstress and I'll be having a fitting in March. That's definitely enough time for me to lose between half to a full dress size which is all I'd need to feel comfortable :) Good incentive to stay focused...hopefully!

Re: the interview in all honesty I didn't want the job, as I'm happy where I am. It was more to keep my manager happy - I just hadn't wanted to embarrass myself!

@Raining, sounds like you enjoyed yourself suitably :) glad you enjoyed yourself. I'm in Tier 3, as soon as we are allowed out for a drink and 'substantial meal', I will be following suit!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 14/12/2020 07:46

68.8 Kgs here.
600g loss this week.

I see from the start of this thread that I was 74.4 Kgs on 14th Oct so that’s 5.6Kg in 2 months.

Very happy with that. I am finding the ‘sensible eating ‘ easy going. Have dropped at least one clothes size and am feeling so much better than when I stared this in May at 81 or 82 Kg. There are a few things in my wardrobe that I am looking forward to wearing again.

Oh, LOL, I am also 2 Cms taller than I thought I was at the beginning of the thread: I am 169. That helped on the BMI calculator Grin

Good luck everyone!

Another week before the wonderful festive feasting begins?
