Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

dudsville losing weight is at least 80% what you eat, don't be discouraged! I can put on weight even though I run 10 miles a day. Exercise helps and it is very good for you but you can lose weight not doing it.

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 19:28

I agree, you can’t really out exercise a bad diet unless you’re an elite athlete. I love exercise for the mental health high and I like the way it makes my body look. It’s great for maintaining weight too.

You can definitely lose weight more easily focussing on what you’re eating.

Theredjellybean · 05/11/2020 21:53

I have eaten pizza... A large one from domino's
I haven't eaten pizza for six months
It was bloody delicious

I've done 11km walk today, mild uphill half way then back down again! I enjoyed it, my legs didn't feel tired until the last 600m. I'm preparing birthday decorations this weekend for my dd.

PurpleDaisies · 06/11/2020 09:18

Wow, well done @DownUdderer. That’s a serious walk.

I’ve got hiit this morning and going for a walk later. We always have a fake away on Friday so I’m telling myself that even though the sweet and sour sauce I’m making is not exactly health food, it’s better than an actual take away!

bellinique · 06/11/2020 15:57

@dudsville I'm the same - impressed by all the exercise and know it's the healthy way to do it but it just doesn't work for me.

If I exercise I get so hungry I can't lose weight.

I'm having another good week and really hoping for a loss on Monday. If that happens then I'll start to eat a bit more so I have the energy to exercise and get a bit healthier rather than just lighter. Well that's the plan anyway...

swampytiggaa · 06/11/2020 16:22

Think I’m looking at staying the same this week. I’ll take that actually as I’m due on sometime soon 🙂 just trying not to eat all the crisps in the house 😂😂

Out for a run later 🙂

DownUdderer · 06/11/2020 21:50

I’m a pound down this morning, I’m happy.

Theredjellybean · 07/11/2020 07:25

So cross... Scales leaping all over the place this week.
Got down to 71.5..on Wednesday, now back at 72.9...i mean how can I gain 3lbs or 1.4 kgs in two days
I had pizza thus night but had not eaten all day.. Yesterday had banana at lunch time and veggie curry and rice and g+t for dinner.
The curry was homemade and the portion was 650 calories.. I know cus I have to work it out for my anorexic dsd meal plan.
Honestly I onky lose weight if I go down to under 800cal a day.
Bloody menopause.

PrincessConsuelaBH · 07/11/2020 07:37

Good morning all Smile

Apologies for going AWOL, I'm back now! Have had a quick read over the messages I've missed, it's so great seeing everyone making the effort and others being so supportive.

I've had 'one of' those weeks in every sense, but I'm officially back today! The scales may be a painful experience on Monday - I've used sugar to help the stress (🙄) and last night rounded it all off with a huge portion of fish and chips! Feel fat as butter today! And I got my period yesterday so far from ideal.

But - not going to let it fully throw me off like it has every other time, I'm aiming to get straight back to it today with a healthy breakfast and a nice long walk.

Enjoy your walk, Princess C, great day for it here so I hope you also have some clear sunny skies and can clear your head from the stress of the week.

PrincessConsuelaBH · 07/11/2020 08:24

@RainingBatsAndFrogs thank you very much!

Just about to make some porridge for breakfast, a change from the delicious sugary cereal I've been having this week Grin

@Theredjellybean I find that eating cheese sometimes makes the scales go up - it is salty and your body retains more water. I agree bloody menopause! Exercise helps, having more muscle burns more calories even when you aren't using them.

Theredjellybean · 07/11/2020 11:08

So, I laid on bed for an hour feeling cross about weight instead of going for run.
Got up, had another small wee, weighed again and was 72.2
Bizzare...
Clearly lying in bed doing nothing is the way forward.
If I hadn't had to get up and come to work I could have laid in bed all day and lost all my vanity kilos in one day Grin

PurpleDaisies · 07/11/2020 11:21

I’m thinking of moving more to using the tape not the scales for progress. Most of the wobbly gut has gone now, I’ve lost a couple of inches off my waist and my jeans fit again. I’ve been hanging around the same weight for a little while. Sometimes that happens and then suddenly it goes down lots. I’m doing more weights so maybe it’s muscle. Whatever it is, I’m really pleased. I feel much happier with my figure now and I feel so much healthier. It’s amazing what difference a couple of weeks has made.

This morning I did a cooked brunch for us. I had hash browns, veggie sausage and baked beans with apple juice and coffee. Not exactly health food but really hit the spot. I’m also getting the hiking boots out for a long walk. Dinner will be Chinese fake away.

Well done everyone, lots of positivity here!

kwaziseyepatch · 08/11/2020 12:13

Finally got on our turbo trainer for 20 mins after no real exercise since having DS 5 months ago- wow huge endorphin release and I went out on a walk not long after. I've forgotten how exercise makes me feel and it's taken my mind off food

BrimfulOfBaba · 08/11/2020 16:49

Had a slightly more relaxed few days - may have celebrated the US election results so far with a bottle of prosecco and a takeaway burger...!

Good chunk of exercise today but still anticipating to maintain or slightly gain for tomorrow let's weigh in. But feel confident that I'll be able to dust myself off and have a fairly disciplined week again!

Sounds like its been a good week for most of us! Well done everyone Smile

PrincessConsuelaBH · 08/11/2020 18:45

@Theredjellybean I'm furloughed now so may just do that! Grin

@PurpleDaisies well done! Do let us know how you get on with the tape, I'm so glad you're feeling happy with your progress, it's inspiring Smile

@kwaziseyepatch I've been for a long walk today and also feel so much better for it Smile

I'm anticipating a small (I hope only small!) gain tomorrow. I'm disappointed with my lack of willpower after starting this thread BUT don't want to bring myself down too much! Will weigh in and report back tomorrow and hopefully the weather will stay dry and I can get back out walking🤞🏻

71.5 this morning, down 400g. I did weigh lower at times during the week but I’ll take it. Have had a rough end to the week with the baby having a nasty gastro type virus spiking really high temps and only wanting to be held. Still managed to complete my exercise program and eating could have been better but I didn’t go completely off track like I usually would when I’m tired.

Teaching my 11 year old to cook and bake so he has to do baking for the weeks lunches and make dinner one night a week. He chose nachos last night and served me up a huge plate which I tucked in to and didn’t want to leave any by way of encouragement 🤣 The hard part will not be devouring the delicious muffins he made!

Hope everyone has a good week and not just food/weight wise because there is much more to life!

Happyface120 · 08/11/2020 19:21

Fully expecting a gain this week as I've had plenty of wine, and a potato gratin/camembert extravaganza over the weekend. Just about to eat homemade pizza! Have run 25km this week though, so pretty chuffed with that. Will weigh in tomorrow

Jemenfouscompletement · 08/11/2020 20:48

Fully expecting no weight loss tomorrow even though I've run 130km this week 😳 a couple of days fasting required.

Theredjellybean · 08/11/2020 22:27

@Jemenfouscompletement
Wow 130km in a week... Thats nearly a half marathon every day..
I did two 8km runs and felt impressed with myself.
I was 71.8 this morning but had toad in the hole for dinner... So we shall see..

bellinique · 08/11/2020 22:58

Wow, well done for all of the exercise everyone!

I also celebrated the US election with fizz but have had a pretty good week otherwise. Today was a Sunday lunch with lots of vegetables and some popcorn and twiglets as a snack.

I'm really hoping for another loss tomorrow but don't see it when I look in the mirror... we shall see!

DownUdderer · 09/11/2020 02:48

I'm down two pounds from last Monday. I've done a 7.5km walk today, some of it was so steep I walked backwards because that was easier!
