Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

Been feeling very bored and restless today. I've had..
Porridge w seeds
Farro & squash
Bit of chocolate
Salmon & cabbage & bao buns
Solero
2x crackers w pork pate

Did weights and HIIT today but am still struggling with boredom eating. Have been eating a lot of carbs even if they're unrefined ones, not sure if that changes eating habits.

I was supposed to be away this week so don't have food order booked until Saturday now and am just subsisting off unplanned bits and no veggies really Blush ocado are coming on Saturday now so I'm hoping to get back on track. Next week I'll try to keep most days below 1000 cals which means I'll end up eating 1200 plus there will be at least one day where I'll eat rather over this amount.

I will dare to join the Monday weigh in next week! I'm expecting to have at least 10lbs to lose

DownUdderer · 04/11/2020 02:57

I'm down 18lb since 8th September. And I can tell you that I can't imagine going hiking with a stone in weight in my backpack! It's funny to think I managed to hike up steep hills and all sorts carrying that extra weight, I'm certainly glad it's gone. I feel I can go an extra couple of km now without it being any more difficult.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 04/11/2020 06:54

DoenUdderer, I too am so pleased not to be lugging around the weight I had when I started this. I have been losing weight much more slowly than you, but have lost almost 10Kg. Everything is so much less effort now.

Yesterday:
Small bowl of porridge and half a grapefruit.

I flat bread (100 cals) with slivers if cheese and some butter beans in tomato sauce

Lancashire hot pot ready meal, 450 Cals, with lots of green beans
2 mini eclairs (100 Cal)
2 glasses of red wine (oh dear)

A session at the gym.

Wine all gone now so will have some alcohol free days.

swampytiggaa · 04/11/2020 08:37

I’m expecting my weight to sts or even go up over the next week as my period is due at some point (they’re a bit random these days) but then it should drop back down again.

Last running club till after lockdown this evening 😢

dudsville · 04/11/2020 08:57

I'm just checking in topp recalibrate as I have lost my rhythm after last weekend's gluttony. Monday and Tuesday were both pretty y shoddy. I want to pull it back today. I was planning on a meal out as a last hurrah before lockdown but I've just decided to stay in and control the calories. I know I'll feel so much better if I can work towards a result come Monday!

Jemenfouscompletement · 04/11/2020 13:46

DownUdderer 18kg is a massive amount of weight to shift, not just vanity, that's amazing!
RainingBatsAndFrogs 10kg too! You have more willpower than me, even one glass of wine and I overeat (usually almonds and other nuts, and/or cheese in HUGE quantities) which is why I put on weight even running miles every day.
swampytiggaa I can't blame any weight loss on time of the month as I'm menopausal. Weight still fluctuates, though, especially due to sweating when doing sports. I'm sure you will still get out running, even if the running club isn't happening during lockdown? We are restricted to an hour here, but I'm not sticking to it. Especially with the lovely sunshine this week.
1kg down from Monday, AF so far this week and homemade soup and salad for meals. Never eat breakfast.

swampytiggaa · 04/11/2020 13:51

@Jemenfouscompletement I’m peri menopausal hence my cycles being random.

I have my treadmill so I’ll use that plus I’ve set up a chat group for my running group so we can pair off for runs if anyone wants company 🙂

BrimfulOfBaba · 04/11/2020 17:19

@downudderer and @RainingBatsAndFrogs that's amazing!

I am trying not to spiral. First proper day of period and I was determined to keep to a deficit, stick to my planned food and planned workouts.

After a healthy brekkie of skyr and granola, healthy lunch of roast carrot and grain salad with spicy yoghurt dressing (from Joe Wick's veggie cookbook, yum), I'm now on the sofa with a hot water bottle having had lots of chocolate and brie and chutney sandwich, asking DP if we can have a takeaway Sad

Half hoping he will say no and that I'll take myself to the cross trainer shortly.

BrimfulOfBaba · 04/11/2020 17:29

He was all too eager for a takeaway so, rest day it is :) tomorrow's a fresh start and I just want to eat something delicious I didn't have to cook Grin

PurpleDaisies · 04/11/2020 17:34

First day period for me is just survival mode. Beige carbs are usually the winner. Don’t feel guilty about it, it’s a day or two out of a month.

I’ve had quite a good day. Seeded toast and harissa houmous for breakfast. Lunch was supposed to be at home but ended up being in a cafe. Avocado with black bean chilli and toast was really nice and worth the extra carbs. I think dinner is going to be stir fry.

I’ve also been on a long walk including lots of hills and spotting a barn owl. Possible yoga later. I’ve finally managed to order some heavier dumbbells for my online hiit class. Killers arms here I come...

BrimfulOfBaba · 04/11/2020 18:41

Thanks @PurpleDaisies I'm going to relish it :)

Your food today sounds gorgeous. And phewwww on managing to get dumbbells now!!

swampytiggaa · 04/11/2020 19:27

Last club run for a while done 😢 4.25 miles 🙂 going to miss my little group 💕

PrincessConsuelaBH · 04/11/2020 19:37

Hi all.

Just a quick one as the last few days have been hellish!!!

Well done to everyone weighing in and great to see so much support between us all Smile

So sorry the new list isn't here yet - I promise it will be up in the morning!

swampytiggaa · 04/11/2020 20:28

@PrincessConsuelaBH don’t stress about the list 💕 the accountability is helping loads anyway 💕

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 09:10

How’s everyone this morning? It’s lovely sunshine here so I’m planning an extended walk. Thursday is usually body balance at the gym. Hoping to sign up for the Les mills on line free trial and see what that’s like.

I’ve got lots of small pots of leftovers that don’t go together at all (spicy marinaded tofu, lentil bolognaise, butternut squash curry, guacamole....) so it could be an odd day for eating.

Hope your curry was nice and you’re feeling ok @BrimfulOfBaba. That might be this week’s Friday fake away.

Don’t worry at all about the big list @PrincessConsuelaBH. It’s motivating enough just having the thread.

swampytiggaa · 05/11/2020 11:20

Hello! Was going to go on the treadmill after work but I have a sore ankle so I’m going to have a day off I think 🙂 just summoning up the energy to get changed 😂😂

Making a minced beef pie for tea. Lots of veg added and pastry only on the top. Plus I’ve just bought some salted caramel twix’s and H has been baking again 🙊

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 05/11/2020 11:32

As they say in the ads: Every Little Helps.

I started so gradually in May, and some weeks lost 200g or stayed the same. But I imagine my weight loss in packs of butter, and 200g is almost a whole pack of butter off your waist or bum or love handles. That's significant.

Tbh I’ll be very happy with a steady 1/2 lb each week. I have a relatively small amount to lose and it’s very bloody stubborn 😂😂
BrimfulOfBaba · 05/11/2020 11:43

As the others have said, don't worry about it @PrincessConsuelaBH :)

@PurpleDaisies I very much enjoyed my curry and am pretty happy this morning that I'd rather go back to normal eating instead of having the leftovers/skipping brekkie. Had my granola and skyr brekkie, I'm fancying eggs and sriracha and maybe some veg on toast for lunch and dinner is a homemade coconut veggie daal with rice.

Marinated tofu + butternut squash curry could be a lovely pairing! Also would be interested to hear how you found the Les Mills trial, I am curious and ready to switch allegiance from the Sweat app.

BrimfulOfBaba · 05/11/2020 11:58

@swampytiggaa ohhh now that I know salted caramel twix exists I may have to go to the shop!!

@RainingBatsAndFrogs that's an amazing way of looking at it 😂

PurpleDaisies · 05/11/2020 12:23

My early thought on the les mills site is it’s fantastic! I would normally do a body balance class at the gym this morning but I did it at home instead. I missed the social aspect but the workout was just as good. It’s free for two weeks then I might pay £12 a month for it. There’s a huge variety of classes on there, some with equipment and some without.

My tofu was marinated with Chinese five spice, chilli, maple syrup, rice wine vinegar, ginger, garlic and tomato purée. It was bloody good with last night’s stir fry but definitely not a good partner for curry! I ended up eating it as a mid morning snack.

TheNewLook · 05/11/2020 12:31

But I imagine my weight loss in packs of butter, and 200g is almost a whole pack of butter off your waist or bum or love handles

Awesome analogy. 😍

dudsville · 05/11/2020 12:34

Just checking in. I love reading about what everyone's eating and that marinated tofu sounds delicious, PurpleDaisies what brand of tofu was it do you know?

Whilst I envy the sweets you avid exercisers get to have that just is not my path. I managed to wait today for brunch, had one slice of sourdough toasted with half a small avocado on it, roasted cherry tomatoes, a ton of spinach and 3 eggs scrambled.

I hope I can pull it back, after the pizza and alcohol excess and sudden meals out pre-lockdown the scales had started creeping back up.Sad

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 05/11/2020 12:45

dudsville my exercise is moderate, and I have had to retain myself out of old habits - being addicted to sweet treats being one of them.

It didn't take long, a week or so of not giving in to endless nibbling and snacks, and a week or so of not eating sweet foods. Like you sy, you have to find the right path for you.

Yesterday:

Spoonful of granola with yogurt and frozen berries

Two oat cakes with 100g of cottage cheese and a chopped carrot

Handful of peanuts

Small mug of unsweetened cocoa

Felafels (195 cals)
two flatbreads (total 200 Cals)
Dressing: yogurt and chopped onion
Slosh of sweet chilli sauce
Shredded cabbage.

1 bottle of alcohol-free beer.

Gym session.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 05/11/2020 12:48

Don't be discouraged, Duds - each day is a new day and it is the overall trend that counts. You'll pull it back in no time. Eyes forwards!
