Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

As expected my average weight for last week is exactly the same as the week before. Pleased with that as my period is due which normally adds a few pounds!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 09/11/2020 07:15

71.7 Kg here.

So 500g / half a kilo loss this week.

2.8Kg loss since starting the weigh ins.

Nearly 11Kg since I started mid May so keeping on my steady trajectory.

It would have been more this week but for the pizza and wine fest over the weekend. Still, 500g is two packs of butter gone!

Good luck everyone!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 09/11/2020 07:16

DownUdderer that’s brilliant!

Theredjellybean · 09/11/2020 08:03

71.8 kgs this morning.
Really pleased,
That's 3.6 kg lost.
I can feel clothes a bit looser and can see my waist emerging again.
Will try to up the exercise this week, motivated by all the huge mileage others running.. ☺

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2020 08:25

I’ve lost another inch off my waist and I’m down 0.5kg on last week. Grin

I think I’ll aim for 1 more kg and I’ll be done.

Gordonsgrin · 09/11/2020 08:33

Weigh day, 3.5 lbs off! Obviously happy with this, just the last 18 lbs to go...

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

PrincessConsuelaBH · 09/11/2020 09:25

@DownUdderer well done! Smile

@swampytiggaa I've also stayed the same at 10.5 this week which is a blessing! I'm aiming to get focused again today - going out for a walk shortly with DD in her pram and will do a healthy shop for veggie meals this afternoon. 😇

@RainingBatsAndFrogs really well done, something to be proud of! And love you butter analogy, think I'll start using that Smile

@Theredjellybean and @PurpleDaisies great jobs! So good when you start to notice the difference Smile

@Gordonsgrin AMAZING! Well done, you got this 💪🏻

So as I said previously, 10.5 again for me this week! But off work now so no excuse not to get some extra steps in and do healthy meal prep. Aiming for 10.3 next Monday 🤞🏻

I've lost another 1lb, only 5lb more to go which feels completely doable. I know those last few can be really hard though.

BrimfulOfBaba · 09/11/2020 10:13

Well done everyone :)

I've stayed the same, 9st7, although I averaged lower over the week...will blame the period!

Going to be a bit more disciplined this week as I'd like to see another lb off by next week but I am overall really happy with the progress and mindset :)

Ingridla · 09/11/2020 10:21

Start weight: 10st 4
Goal weight: 9st 6
Current weight: 10st 6

I give up.

Theredjellybean · 09/11/2020 11:14

@Ingridla
Don't give up
Can we help at all

bellinique · 09/11/2020 11:57

Gah, after thinking I'd had a good week I've put a pound on! So 9st 4lbs now.

Quite disappointed but period is due so I'm hoping that explains it a bit?

Well done to every who's lost/maintained!

I don't know. I'm late on, was due on sat/sun, my forehead & chin are covered in spots I haven't had since long ago, so I feel like my hormones are playing silly buggers. I've cut out wine, beer, chocolate, lowered bread in intake & upped exercise yet here I am.

I've just got back from a 40 minute strenuous walk, I can't run as I have health issues including heart murmur/ failure ( had open heart surgery to repair mitral valve in my 30s) & related issues.

My middle is just flab and. the tops of my arms and face are chubs.

Not sure what to do apart from just eat peas for dinner Grin

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 09/11/2020 14:48

Ingridla don't give up!

Honestly, once you slot into something that works for you, it will work and you won't need to find it hard.

Also pre-period bloating and water retention really is a thing.

If you have cut out choc, wine, beer and cut down on bread, you are doing fantastically well. Keep that up until it becomes second nature.

It takes a while for the gradual weight loss to kick in.

And slow and steady exercise is good.

Also...don't give up while you are feeling pre-menstrual and maybe suffering the grump!

I find that eating salty things ups my water retention and adds weight, too, but it's water, not fat. (I hope!).

I bet your weight will come right down next week.

dudsville · 09/11/2020 14:51

Hi everyone, I lost the thread somehow but the fabulous Purpledaisies saw my distress beacon and linked me in.

It was great catching up on the news. I also like the butter analogy and will try to work out how many packs of butter I've lost!

I've lost another pound, so that's half a stone down now. I'm pretty thrilled. I have another half stone to reach my goal. I hope to do that in time for Christmas, and then enjoy eating over the holidays, and then I am considering a further 5 lb loss to give me a comfortable margin to play with.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 09/11/2020 15:13

Oh, wow, dudsville - that's great - well done!

Jemenfouscompletement · 09/11/2020 15:30

Very true! Don't give up @Ingridla with everything you have stopped eating and drinking you will lose weight soon.

I'm down 500g which is terrible but then I'm not at all overweight (just over my ideal weight!) so I don't think it will happen quickly. I also have really low iron (ferritin) levels and that doesn't help with weight loss either, it makes you gain weight because of the slowing of the metabolism.

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2020 15:57

Glad to see you back @dudsville and well done on the loss.

Everyone is doing so well here. 💪💪💪

There are always weeks of ups and downs but the overall trend is what is important.

Can I recommend Les Mills online? You get a two week free trial. I’m not sure if I’m keeping it (about £10 a month) but I’m making the most of the workouts on there for the next fortnight.

BrimfulOfBaba · 09/11/2020 16:20

Hey @ingridla, this is how my weight loss has looked since lockdown. I suspect most people's journeys look like this - full of ups and downs for lots of reasons including hormones, sodium etc as well as underestimating calorie intake and overestimating calorie burn.

The key is consistency but also not beating yourself up when you slip away from the habits you want- dust yourself and get back on it. Trust the process!

Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?
RainingBatsAndFrogs · 09/11/2020 16:24

Jemen 500g isn't terrible at all - a pound a week is v respectable.

Imagine a bag of sugar gone or 2 packs of butter gone!

Ingridla · 09/11/2020 16:29

Thank you for the support, you don't know how much I appreciate it.

I'm increasingly wondering if it's hormonal, I'm never late on, my hunger is ridiculous but I'm managing to only eat healthily. Could it be pre menopausal? I'm 43.

Ingridla · 09/11/2020 16:34

Actually no, just done some research, doubt it's pre menopausal.

I don't have any other symptoms in that area.

Jemenfouscompletement · 09/11/2020 17:08

@Ingridla I'm nearly 55 and found that once I was over 40 the amount I could eat without piling on weight reduced drastically. If I didn't do a lot of sport I'd probably only eat one meal a day. Your metabolism slows right down. Is it possible for you to do weights instead of cardio? That would help build muscle and muscle burns more calories even when not being used.

Jemenfouscompletement · 09/11/2020 17:10

@RainingBatsAndFrogs yes you are right, half a bag of sugar is something. But it could also just because I'm more dehydrated than last week and in fact I haven't lost anything.
11kgs is amazing you must have a whole new wardrobe!

This is an excellent point, yes, I do have a kettlebell and dumbbells, 8kg & 2kg respectively. I've used them very little. Could you recommend any exercises to start me off?

Thank you x
