Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

I log my weight with Fitbit and it does the hard work for me 🙂 week runs from Sunday to Saturday.

bellinique · 26/10/2020 10:54

After gaining half a pound at last week's weigh in and being very disappointed I'm very happy to have lost 4.5 lbs this week - from 9 stone 9.5 to 9 stone 5.

I have been pretty strict on food but thought my wine consumption may have been my downfall.

I'm still half a stone more than I was at the start of lockdown in March but this has given me the motivation to keep going. I definitely need to think more about exercise as I'm basically a sloth. Very impressed to hear about everyone else's efforts in that respect!

bellinique · 26/10/2020 10:55

Oh and I just want to say a big thank you to the OP for staring this thread. Thinking about today's weigh in and reporting back here has really made a difference to my eating choices!

BrimfulOfBaba · 26/10/2020 11:24

Yay, @bellinique! That is brilliant!

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 11:33

Well done everyone for starting this and we are all doing so well 😁 I’m thinking more about what I’m eating and being stricter with my fasting and it’s paying off so far 🙂

I’ve done 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning then I’ve got a run this evening (need to plan a route!)

Food- lunch will be a sandwich. Tea will be roasted veg and pan fried sea bass as the husband picked some up at work reduced this morning. That’ll probably be it for today.

Happyface120 · 26/10/2020 11:37

Just got back from run- week 2 of C25K finished. In March I did a half marathon, so its a long way back, but I will do it! Shake for lunch, salmon and veg for dinner. Need to up my water intake too

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 11:50

Well done @Happyface120 💕

BrimfulOfBaba · 26/10/2020 12:05

That's brilliant @Happyface120!

Busy week at work today but going to try and go for a walk at lunch, do 30 mins high intensity on the cross trainer and a legs circuit.

Breakfast was vanilla skyr and low sugar granola with blueberries, lunch will be a halloumi and salad pitta, dinner will be lentil bolognese with some papardelle.

Feeling motivated!!

PrincessConsuelaBH · 26/10/2020 13:54

Well done to you all Grin@bellinique that's amazing!

Even those of you who aren't thrilled with the outcome this week, remember that it's getting us all to be more mindful of what we're eating and that's a good thing.

I was in such a rush this morning I didn't weigh when I got to my DP's 😔 so I'll get weighed this evening and will just have to accept it may not be a true reflection. Or I should weigh in the morning instead, what do you all think?

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 13:56

@PrincessConsuelaBH I don’t think it matters as long as you keep it consistent 🙂

Theredjellybean · 26/10/2020 14:54

So I started at 73.5, 2 weeks ago, but then went on holiday for first week.
Came back at 75.5..
Today 72.8
Really pleased... Went and did my personal best 5km time as well.
Going to keep at it... I had a very different shape at beginning of the year... But was running half marathon at the time, and since dropped off running and became fully menopausal so probably a combination of these two.
Trying not to despair at bigger boobs, fat back, and no waist...
Anyone else on here struggling with the menopausal weight redistribution and any tips to get rid..?

Theredjellybean · 26/10/2020 14:55

@Happyface120... I too ran my first half in March.. Now staggering round 5-6km..i feel. So disappointed in myself but yes we can get back to it..

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 15:05

I’ve run a few halfs thinking about a marathon next year. I’m very slow but determined. Currently running at least a couple of miles a day as I am doing a lands end John o groats challenge (874 miles over a year)

I’m peri menopausal and 51 so getting rid of this weight is difficult. I’m trying now tho.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 26/10/2020 15:58

PrincessC weigh tomorrow morning at the usual time you weigh.

PurpleDaisies · 26/10/2020 16:00

I will join you in a Tuesday weigh in. I’ll be up (period) but that’ll be okay. Happy that this week has been good overall.

Well done everyone!

PrincessConsuelaBH · 26/10/2020 16:13

Tuesday weigh in it is - thanks all Smile

@PurpleDaisies I'm expecting to be up too. We'll console each other tomorrow then back at it!

Tea turned into a bowl of Frosties due to girlchild commandeering the oven for lemon drizzle cake. Had to eat something before I go to running at 6 🙂

BrimfulOfBaba · 26/10/2020 17:47

Congrats on the PB @Theredjellybean!

@PrincessConsuelaBH you're right, the added mindfulness is the most useful thing at the moment.

Procrastinating from my workout but about to march myself to my exercise mat!

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 19:26

Just over six miles done today 🙂 food okish 🙂

dudsville · 26/10/2020 20:00

I'm also peri. It's now ages between periods and when they finally come they're over in a blink. Weight loss is definitely different now to when I was young and thin and I could reset my weight in a day or a week. This is not only about peri for me though. As I've aged I have stupidly moved much less and taken up terrible food habits that I never used to have. Also, I gave up smoking (about 4 or 5 a day for 35 years) a few months ago. It was fairly easy at the time but I've really missed smoking just lately now that I'm eating less.

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 20:34

I’m still getting regular periods but they are shorter and nastier than they were. I’m getting terrible brain fog and horrible hormonal spots in my scalp and am very tired. Plus a squishier middle than I would like. Shouldn’t complain... think I’m getting off fairly easily so far...

dudsville · 26/10/2020 20:58

The brain fog, omg, I don't want to turn this into a peri thread but my two moods seem to be "irate" and "confused" these days. Confused

swampytiggaa · 26/10/2020 21:18

All is well in my world right now 💕 cuddles with my best girl 💕 (don’t tell the other 6 😂😂)

The best way to spend an evening @swampytiggaa!
My best boy is showing off his white bits 😻

momo3w · 26/10/2020 23:23

I’m not peri menopausal but I’ve just got my periods again post baby #3. The first one was 14 days long and quite literally drained the life out of me. Hoping they get shorter! 🤞🏼

Just did a 30min kettlebell workout and feel great. I’ve got a 12 week programme to follow so I’m feeling motivated to stick to that.

I think I’ll also try daily weighs and go off the average. Amazing how much you can fluctuate day to day.
