Starting again! 4 stone to lose!!! Friday weigh in

Katiemaggie · 28/08/2020 09:27

So yet again I have let my weight get out of control and am determined to lose it. In 2013 I lost over 8 stone and reached my goal weight of 10 stone. I felt happy and confident. However, 2 children and a lot of unhealthy habits have led to 4 stone of that going back on 😢 I have signed back up to myfitnesspal and am going back to the gym. Did my first tums and bums class on Wed and my muscles are still burning 😩😂. Going to do a weekly Friday weigh in to try and keep myself on track. Anyone who would like to join me to keep each other motivated is very welcome 😊

Starting weight: 14st 5lbs
Current weight: 13st 12.5lbs
Goal weight: 10st

👋 I’m in. I’m 13st this morning. Hoping to get to 10st by end of year (is that doable)? I’ve never had to lose more than about 7lbs before so I’m completely daunted.

juniper6 · 28/08/2020 10:04

I'm in, I weighed this morning at 12st 2lbs. Disgusting.

Katiemaggie · 28/08/2020 12:47

Thanks for joining me 😊

I’m in too, if you’ll have me? Will do a proper weigh in tomorrow but I think I’m about 14 and 3/4 stones.
Lockdown has not been good for my waistline at all!

Katiemaggie · 28/08/2020 23:21

#Playdoughpuffin of course you can join us. More the merrier 😊

Thank you for the warm welcome Katiemaggie.

Well...deed done...I think I’m 14st 9lbs (or there abouts).. I’ve a set of scales that seems to give a slightly different reading each time you step on it.

Hope everyone’s Saturday is going ok

Hi, please can I join. Have been actively trying to lose weight again since June but would be nice to share the journey with some others. Initially I was following slimming world, but now calorie counting and finding that much more successful.

Starting weight: 15 stone 7 lb (3 years ago - pregnancy in middle hence the big gap)
Current weight: 12 stone 7 lb
Goal weight: 10 stone

Katiemaggie · 29/08/2020 15:20

Thanks for joining me and welcome 😊

I've had a pretty good start and am feeling motivated. Weighed this morning (can't resist weighing myself everyday!) and have lost my first half stone 👍 Let's hope I can keep it up! Maintaining good habits is what I find difficult! I have signed up to "move for mind" and have pledged to do at least 30 mins exercise everyday for the whole of September. Hopefully doing it for charity will keep me on track!! 😂

I am calorie counting too. I find it best for me because I am not restricted to what I eat but am mindful of how much .

Hope everyone else is doing okay too x

I also can't resist the daily weigh in, and then get annoyed when it has gone up slightly 🤦‍♀️

In the past I've done WW but gave up, found it too hard to stick to. Slimming world I lost weight sometimes but not consistently enough to keep me motivated. I think I enjoyed their free food options too much so just ate too much of that and didn't include enough speed food.

I started trying to lose weight in June and lost 8.6 lb, then found calorie counting in July and have lost a further 11.2 lb since then. 1 stone 6.2 pounds off in total since the start of June. Hopefully I can keep with it this time. I'd love to be back to a healthy weight. Calorie counting is still letting me have a take away once a week and usually a little chocolate bar or something similar after tea. Little things like that make me feel like it's more of a long term option.

Katiemaggie · 29/08/2020 18:07

That's brilliant @rainbowssss, well done 😊 I definitely do better when "allowed" to have treats. When I originally lost weight in 2013 I did it through ww. But back then it was pro points and was basically just tracking and calorie counting. When I tried there again it had changed and was much more restrictive (especially with carbs!!) and I just couldn't get along with it. I'm tracking everything on myfitnesspal which is great. All free and tracks food and exercise.

Hiii! Can I join please?

Weighed in todat at 11stone 12pounds! I’m only 5.2 so quite a lot for me hoping to get down to 9.6...as close as possible by christmas!

I knew I had put alot of weight on but was shocked by the scales damn you lockdown!!! heaviest I have ever been! Calorie counting definitely works for me too, as i can factor in abit of chocolate or a treat if I want one.

Its so easy to put on but so difficult to get of 🤨

Katiemaggie · 29/08/2020 20:22

Oh course! Welcome @Sarahp2308 😊

Can I join too please? I lost some weight during lockdown and was beginning to see some significant change but have put it all back on and need to start again.

Katiemaggie · 29/08/2020 22:06

Welcome @Daybydayagain 😊 X

I will be with on you on Tuesday. Last time I weighed myself I was 100.7kg but that was months ago. I've had platar fascia (sp?) since January so even walking is a distant memory.

But come Tuesday I'll be back at work (WFH since March) and can start swimming regularly. Not feeling v motivated but 50th Bday in January so it's for a good cause.

Lowest weight of the last decade was 70kg for my marriage which was nearly 4 years ago. Frankly I'd be happy with 80kg at this point.

rainbowsssss · 30/08/2020 08:03

Is anyone using something like an Apple Watch or Fit Bit to track exercise/calories used? I'm not doing any specific exercise in particular but I'm trying to get to 500 movement calories everyday on my Apple Watch. I never eat these on top of my daily allowance, but I've read conflicting things that say you should eat at least 50% of your exercise calories or it can stop you losing weight. Anyone got any experience with this as I'm quite confused by it?

Katiemaggie · 30/08/2020 08:25

I track my exercise on a fitbit. I'm not sure of the official guidance. I tend to use it as a buffer but don't actively try and eat what I've burnt (if that makes sense!). Most of last week I was slightly over my calorie allowance by 100-200 but tended to do at least 600-800 calories worth of exercise so it seemed to balance x

Welcome @Wallywobbles 😊 50th birthday is a good incentive 👍 I'm focusing on my cousin's wedding. Not until Aug next year but want to be back to feeling good in a nice dress by then

OP posts:
Sarahp2308 · 30/08/2020 10:36

Im tracking using my fit bit too, I have heard that not eating enough can stop weight loss not sure about the truth in it though...I tend to write everything down in a note book, it is kinda counter productive but I find it helps me be accountable for everything I put in my mouth 🤣

Minnie123456 · 30/08/2020 11:27

can I join please? Im on 2 other threads but im thinking the more support the better.
Weighed myself today and im 13st 5.5lbs, im about 5ft 3 so classed as obese. Need to loose just over 3 stone to get in the healthy range.

Sarahp2308 · 30/08/2020 12:11

When does everyone wiegh themselves? Once a week or once a month? Im thinking Friday mornings 🤔

FallingOffTheBed · 30/08/2020 13:40

Oh may i join? i have 3.5 stone to lose - want to be 10 stone also.

FallingOffTheBed · 30/08/2020 13:44

My issue is that i binge eat and binge drink and I have genuinely forgotten what it is like to eat normal portions and mormal sizes. i found myself today looking at a Costa strawberry frostino thinking it must be 1 of your 5 a day because of the syrup. Hmm

I also usually diet myself UP in weight.

My aim is to recalbrate myself and to gradually reduce bad habits and increase good habits.

I used to be about 10 stone and thought I was fat. I used to be 11 stone and thought I was fat.

I am hoping to change one bad habit weekly. Embed it then move on.

Katiemaggie · 30/08/2020 16:06

Welcome to everyone that's joined today 😊 I too have formed lots of bad habits and often binge eat rather than eating mindfully. I weigh everyday unofficially (probably not recommended but helps me stay on track) but do an official weigh in on a Friday which I record on myfitnesspal. I haven't had the best weekend food wise - just eaten a huge roast 🐷 but didn't have any pudding so habits are gradually changing.

OP posts:
FallingOffTheBed · 30/08/2020 16:55

My aim for this week is to have zero calorie drinks- so water, water and lemon juice and herbal teas.
For thios week I change NOTHING ELSE just that.

If I try and change too much at once i collapse into a heap of self hatred.

So - change one thing.

Last time I weighed in (a few weeks ago) I was 13 stone 8 pouhds.
