Starting again! 4 stone to lose!!! Friday weigh in

Katiemaggie · 28/08/2020 09:27

So yet again I have let my weight get out of control and am determined to lose it. In 2013 I lost over 8 stone and reached my goal weight of 10 stone. I felt happy and confident. However, 2 children and a lot of unhealthy habits have led to 4 stone of that going back on 😢 I have signed back up to myfitnesspal and am going back to the gym. Did my first tums and bums class on Wed and my muscles are still burning 😩😂. Going to do a weekly Friday weigh in to try and keep myself on track. Anyone who would like to join me to keep each other motivated is very welcome 😊

Starting weight: 14st 5lbs
Current weight: 13st 12.5lbs
Goal weight: 10st

Definitely hard when we're socialising with other people. Ate at someone else's house yesterday and I just tried to keep track of everything I had in terms of how many spoons of veg and how many slices of meat etc. Has to be a best guess in terms of calories though.

MUM2019MARVEL · 01/09/2020 13:51

Hi sorry for being M.I.A I've been bloody busy :( my starting weight is 13.8 stone (please ignore the badly in need of a pedi toes) just for recording purpose. Hope all you ladies are doing well and staying strong against those cravings :D x

Aurorie11 · 01/09/2020 14:02

@MUM2019MARVEL your starting weight is 3lbs less me. Only way is down!

MUM2019MARVEL · 01/09/2020 15:13

@Aurorie11 we can be weight loss buddies haha. The way I've been rushing round I'd be surprised if I hadn't lost by Friday!

Aurorie11 · 02/09/2020 20:12

How's everyone doing?
Not sure if I will weigh in this Friday as only started two days ago.
Made sure I've done at least 10000 steps a day, which meant going out at 6am this morning to get in about 7500 before school run and work, largely stuck in front of work laptop so struggle to do many steps during the day. Because I'm short I dont use many calories so need the exercise to help. Evening snacking is my downfall so trying to resist. Having lots of homemade soup to fill up at minimum calories.

Sarahp2308 · 02/09/2020 20:24

Hi @Aurorie11

Sounds like you are doing well!! I’ve found getting up at 6am and getting the dog out is getting my steps up, I am the same as you stuck behind a laptop all day!

I had a sneaky mid week weigh this evening I am 4 pounds down (likely bloat and water retention) but I only started properly sunday or monday (I can’t remember) it is so motivating to see the number coming down so don’t be worried about weighing this week you would be surprised how quick things getting moving!

Aurorie11 · 02/09/2020 20:26

@Sarahp2308 not looking forward to 6am walks when it's still dark!

Sarahp2308 · 02/09/2020 20:35

@Aurorie11 nor me! Dreading it to be honest i hate the dark soggy mornings ☹️

Katiemaggie · 02/09/2020 22:16

I'm doing well too. I have pledged to do at least 30 mins exercise everyday in September for the charity "Mind" and it's really motivating me. Did an hour at the gym yesterday and have had a long walk today. Trying to stay on track with food but have my parents staying at the moment so it's been a little more difficult (step mum brought a homemade crumble with her today and insisted we all have some!!). Anyway hopefully I'll have lost at least a little bit this week 🤞 back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off 😔

MUM2019MARVEL · 03/09/2020 08:11

@Katiemaggie that's really good, and your doing it for two great causes (mind and your health)!! I'm finding it hard to find time exercise at the minute so have been going on long walks too while on errands, and just slimming down my meals not eating junk food ect. Sound like your doing well, good on you :)

Aurorie11 · 03/09/2020 20:57

@Sarahp2308 I did a dark, wet 6am walk, at least it was light when I got back after 7.
How’s everyone doing?

I’m going to weigh in next Friday

Sarahp2308 · 03/09/2020 21:04

@Aurorie11 my walk this morning also started off pretty dark and ended up being soggy! I say walk but it was pretty much a drag by my labrador!
Debating walking into my nearest town centre to collect a parcel tomorrow afternoon...4 miles there and 4 miles back, have a feeling I will end up hoping into the car though 🤔

Aurorie11 · 03/09/2020 21:24

@Sarahp2308 4 mile round trip would be ok, but 8 miles sounds a lot particularly if you have to queue for the parcel, it could be up to 3 hours. No early morning walk tomorrow for me as DH is off to work early and don’t like to leave kids alone, but I finish at 1 tomorrow so time for a walk before the school run

Wallywobbles · 03/09/2020 22:02

Right well day 3 done. I'm going for the half of my plate must be veg diet. And no alcohol and few carbs.

A shocking 107.7 kg.

Sarahp2308 · 03/09/2020 22:27

@Aurorie11 8 miles does seem like alot and I didn’t even think about potential having to queue!

Sounds like a good plan atleast it won’t be dark at that time!

Katiemaggie · 04/09/2020 06:46

Only 1.5lbs off this week. Little disappointed as have really upped the exercise. However food choices haven't been great (although a lot better than normal for the most part). Getting there slowly but surely and going in the right direction 😊👍. Hope everyone else has had success this morning xxxx

Starting weight: 14st 5lbs
Current weight: 13st 11lbs
Total loss: 8lbs
Goal weight: 10st

@Katiemaggie well done, a loss is a loss. 1.5lbs every week is almost half a stone a month

SillyLittleBiscuit · 04/09/2020 12:17

4lbs down this week.
Starting weight: 13st
Current weight: 12st 10lbs

Hope everyone’s doing ok.

Katiemaggie · 04/09/2020 14:30

Thank you @Aurorie11 and well done @SillyLittleBiscuit amazing loss 👍

So maybe lost my first kilo.

I've been reading the bariatric surgery thread and realized that with BMI of 40 I have a 1:600 chance of ever keeping the weight off.

Every diet I've ever done has worked but yet here I am. I'm coming to the conclusion my relationship to food is fucked. I think about food from the moment I wake up. We grow a lot of our food. Make everything from scratch.

I've just listened to the audiobook Healthy as Fuck to try and borrow some willpower. My takeaways from the book are:
half of your plate for every meal is veg
Lots of self praise for everything you achieve
Do exercise because you'll feel good because of the endorphins
If you can't be arsed to do the full exercise do some
Because it's all about creating habits.
Don't set yourself up to fail. Make sustainable choices.

Now reading the Fuck it Diet.

toiletpaper · 05/09/2020 06:44

Hi all can I join please? I weigh around 16 stone currently although thankfully I'm tall so it doesn't look as obvious! Looking to get down to 11 ish stone however I have no plans to do it in a rush as I want to actually get there this time. Whenever I diet I tend to get to 14 stone and plateau then I lose all motivation and it goes back on and I'm at the biggest I've been now for around five years. I weighed a few days ago and I was 101.8kg (I weigh the puppy weekly so I keep the scales in kg) which equates to a teeny bit over 16 stone so I'm putting that as my start weight but I will weigh again in a few days and see how I get on.

Sarahp2308 · 05/09/2020 08:02

Morning all!

I didn’t managed to weigh in yesterday morning, was manic getting ready for work and stuff..I weighed in this morning though and 6.5 pounds down this week! I’m sure mostly bloat and water retention!
Start weight - 11:12
Current weight - 11.5.5
Goal weight - 9.7

@Wallywobbles sounds like a good idea! Especially the creating habibits! I hate the saying its not a diet its a lifestyle change but I suppose it is really!

@toiletpaper Welcome 😊 I hate diet plateaus so de-motivating

Katiemaggie · 05/09/2020 08:47

Welcome @toiletpaper😊. Well done @Sarahp2308 that is so good!! And you are right @Wallywobbles small changes do add up to change. Whenever I try and do something restrictive or too intense I always fail! Just trying to be more mindful of what I put in my gob and how much I move 😂 might give some of those books a read x

Morning - can I join please? I was 9 stone not so long ago but my weight has crept up to 12 stone 4, which really shocks me as I’m only just over 5 ft 2”. My main problem is booze & I tend to eat more when I’m drinking wine. Also I’m totally unfit! I’ve joined a wild swimming group & am going to try walking more instead of always taking the car.
Start weight - 12 stone 4
Goal weight - 10 stone initially

triedtothinkofanewname · 05/09/2020 08:59

Could I join too please? Starting: 75.5kg Target 67kg by Christmas.
