Anyone want to join to lose up to a stone?

I have 10-14lbs to lose to start feeling comfortable in myself again. I'm 5' 6.

9 stone is my fighting weight but I'm at least 10 stone now, and I know it's going to continue creeping up.

I look at threads already going on here but when lots of people are already on I feel like I get lost on it Grin

So I'm aiming to start Monday, not sure what plan I'll be following yet, but will have to eat less and exercise more as I've noticed my thighs are rubbing a little and got some fat on my back etc.

@TheBitchOfTheVicar I'm trying to remember that if i had carried on as I was, I'd have kept putting on weight and at least that has stopped. And I do feel a little fitter.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 19/07/2020 11:45

@Swearwolf

I also feel lighter in myself, less bloated, stronger and a bit fitter as have been more active, slept better, had more fruit and veg. I hold onto this when the scales don't comply!

Egghead68 · 19/07/2020 13:29

I feel in more control at least and am eating loads of veg. It must be making a difference on some level.

Egghead68 · 19/07/2020 17:39

Just found out the sugar-free (and I thought calorie free) sweets I have been sucking on all week are 250 cals a bag! This could explain a lot.

Egghead68 · 20/07/2020 05:57

Weighing day. 69.8kg so the same as a week ago. At least I haven’t gained!

Swearwolf · 20/07/2020 07:33

I also weighed, and still no change. But today is the first day of the school holidays and I've managed to get the children in with a childminder a couple of days a week. I've skipped my shower and plan to ride my bike on my lunch break! If I can do this every day they're there, that will help I think.

Chocolatecake12 · 20/07/2020 07:48

Weigh day!! So after a better week and more walking I’ve finally list just over a lb!
Now weigh 11.3.4
It’s slow but will be worth it!
I’m on annual leave this week so hoping to get out and about and make good choices.
Well done to every so far - and keep it up!

Powerplant · 20/07/2020 08:07

Been using MFP for a week and have lost 2lb. It’s brilliant keep going everyone

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 20/07/2020 08:46

I was 10 stone 5.2 last week and am 10.3.1 this week. So pleased!

I'm trying to think about what I have been doing that works:

Less time on my phone, especially at night.
More activity.
More fruit and veg.
Less carbs.

@Egghead68 good way of looking at it - and now you've ditched/factored in the sweets, hopefully that'll help.

@Swearwolf sounds like a great idea.

@Chocolatecake12 well done.

@Powerplant good job.

Smile

Well, weighed in this morning and I'm up 4 lb (almost didn't want to come here and tell you all lol) I think at least part of it is a bit of water weight as my period has arrived (sorry) but in all honesty my eating has been a bit erratic this week. I sat and had a cry for a few minutes, which is silly but there we are.

Trying to think about what I need to do differently with food. I think it's sticking to soup at lunchtime, smaller portions for dinner and just watching the snacks - though I don't think they've been awful. I don't know. Trying not to let it get me down too much as I have been feeling better in myself, moving a lot more and I am definitely eating more veg. It's a journey, I guess? Feeling a bit rubbish but I will try and push through it. Also considering weighing myself on thursday to get an idea how much of it is really period bloat?

Well done to all of you - you have all done way better than me this week!

@Egghead68 I work with AIDS art/representation/museum spaces mainly. My mum always asks why I have to work with illness, she's always like 'do something more cheerful!' :-)

Swearwolf · 20/07/2020 09:33

@kirstinm exactly the same thing happened to me last week! I weighed and was 4lb up, I was gutted! But this week I'm right back down to where I was. So not an overall loss, but not a permanent gain either. I'm sure it's my body adjusting!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 20/07/2020 09:40

@kirstinm try not to be despondent, tho I would feel the same. I weighed 10.5.0 yesterday and 10.3.1 today - it is such an up-and-down thing. And you have said you feel better in yourself. Hopefully you have a good few year left - you might only be halfway through life, so a few days or a couple of weeks is worth pushing through to maintain that feeling, and hopefully weight will shift to match it.

I also thinks it's great that you still weighed and still recorded here. I am definitely protecting, but am a bit of a yoyoer - for me, when I know I've put on weight I'll avoid the reality by not weighing, and then feel less answerable and thus eat more and put on weight. If it was me, I'd definitely weigh on Thursday.

Egghead68 · 20/07/2020 09:57

@kirstinm your work sounds fascinating.

I don’t think it’s possible to gain 4lb of fat in a week unless you are eating like it’s Christmas day everyday (it takes 14000 extra calories to put on 4lb). It must be the weight of the food in your digestive tract or something. KOKO

Well done to all the losers!

TheNewLook · 20/07/2020 11:18

This dieting lark is habit-forming I think - takes a week or two to form and now I can’t seem to stop even when I want to. Decided not to log on MFP on Sundays but I still find myself mentally totting things up. Made a batch of choc chip cookies yesterday and was amazingly restrained about not tearing through them.

This is the first week I can actually see the weight loss clearly. I’m down 11lb and have just taken all my measurements again. 11lb has knocked approx an inch off everywhere.

It’s not enough to warrant new clothes - yet. Lovely to have my usual clothes just feel better on, not digging in on the waistband, tummy protruding less!

What I do mentally struggle with is that although I’m very happy with the loss - I’m still at a weight that I was unhappy with two years ago. What I weigh today, whilst better than a month ago, is a weight that panicked me when I first saw it on the scales two years ago and started me on MFP!
How do you get your head around that??!

Swearwolf · 20/07/2020 11:34

@TheNewLook that's amazing progress!

I guess you resolve it by realising that if you carry on going you'll eventually get to where you want to be. That your weight is heading in the right direction and that you're feeling better in yourself.

kirstinm · 20/07/2020 12:52

Thanks guys, you have made me feel better!

Going to try and be a bit better with the diet and admit that I probably have gone over calories - looking back at MFP from the week before I can see some differences - sticking to soup for lunch being the main one. But also recognise that period/body adjusting is (I think) playing a part.

Also trying to remember that I am/was feeling better in myself - or at least I was till I stepped on those scales - of course now I am feeling humungous!

@TheNewLook that's great, well done! I am wondering if I would have possibly lost inches - I have been walking a lot. Considering trying on my previously baggy jeans that were more like skinnies when I put them on a month ago...but maybe today is not the day for it!

SmallPinkBear · 20/07/2020 20:10

I was down another 2lbs today to 11st 5.5, was feeling a bit like I had lost some motivation but the thought of posting here made me carry on... thanks for all being so positive and inspiring me Smile

pigear · 20/07/2020 21:28

Much better this week, I have lost 3 pounds which puts me comfortably into the 10 stones, at 10 stone 11.8.

It's definitely an up and down thing as last week I lost 0.8 of a pound.

I am walking the dog a bit further and doing yoga when I can fit it in and am not too tired. I like the yoga as it makes me feel calmer and stronger.

Good to see some other losses and those who haven't, keep going, it will happen.

pigear · 20/07/2020 21:31

@BroodyBridget , hope you are ok. It occurred to me that you haven't been on the thread for a while.

Egghead68 · 21/07/2020 17:27

Didn’t plan last two days and went over calories.

Tomorrow’s plan:

B: Cake, melon, mango 600
L: Lentils, carrots, tomatoes 500
D/S: Cherries, ice cream 270

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 21/07/2020 19:20

Sounds like we are settling into better routines - some days over, but better over the course of a week.

I've been over today, due to DD1 making the most delicious chocolate cake today. Going out for a walk with a friend soon, though, to balance it out. And I have done two long runs already this week, so not too worried

Egghead68 · 22/07/2020 08:20

Well after overeating for 2 days I’ve lost 0.4kg - my first loss!

Chocolatecake12 · 22/07/2020 08:44

I’m on annual leave this week so although I’m moving more and definitely more active the last couple of days my diet has been a bit ‘naughty’
And today we’re going away overnight - long car journey today and tomorrow so I’m thinking I won’t be as active for the ne t couple of days. We will see.
Thanks for everyone’s support - it’s nice to pop back onto the thread and see how everyone is doing. It also makes me accountable and I need that!

Swearwolf · 22/07/2020 08:59

Well yesterday was my birthday so I fell spectacularly off the wagon and ate whatever I felt like. It was glorious! Back on it today (aside from breakfast- I usually have overnight oats but went out for dinner and didn't bother making them, so had toast today instead) but it's going to be a while before I'm brave enough to weigh myself... next Monday at the earliest.

Egghead68 · 22/07/2020 13:39

Happy birthday for yesterday @swearwolf! Have a good holiday @Chocolatecake12.
