Anyone want to join to lose up to a stone?

I have 10-14lbs to lose to start feeling comfortable in myself again. I'm 5' 6.

9 stone is my fighting weight but I'm at least 10 stone now, and I know it's going to continue creeping up.

I look at threads already going on here but when lots of people are already on I feel like I get lost on it Grin

So I'm aiming to start Monday, not sure what plan I'll be following yet, but will have to eat less and exercise more as I've noticed my thighs are rubbing a little and got some fat on my back etc.

Morning everyone!

We should be on holiday for two weeks, however we postponed to next year. So I've spent my annual leave sorting out cupboards and deep cleaning, not exciting but good exercise, my legs and bum are are definitely firming up. Plus my muffin top is slowly disappearing.

Maintained weight, wish I'd lost some but better than gaining! No alcohol and trying so hard to eat more mindfully and sensibly.

Hope you all have good days Smile

Egghead68 · 23/07/2020 15:54

Maintaining sounds good to me @oooerrthor.

Stradivari · 23/07/2020 21:32

Hello everyone!!

Can I join?? I know you've been going for two weeks now, but I've read the thread and it sounds to me like you will help me to help myself!

I've made a decision to try and lose a stone, with an aim to have it done by the time I go back to work in October. I haven't got a current weight as my scales are broken and I plan on using my gym's scales when they reopen this weekend. My stats are:

Height: 159cm
Current Weight : 66-67kg Goal Weight: 61kg
BMI: 26.3
Waist: 32inches Hips 41inches
Dress size: 12 verging on a 14 by the end of the day

Things I want to do/change:
So, I think I'm going to go for 16:8 IF, as I find it relatively easy to not eat breakfast, especially if I keep busy in the morning and I don't really miss it.
I am a chocoholic and have a sugar addiction - I need to do something about this. But like an addict, this is the one area I keep shying away from... anyone have any ideas how to address this? Is it better to focus on the weight loss first and replace a few of my snacks/desserts with healthier alternatives?
I have also been drinking WAY too much during lockdown. My god, I never used to drink this much. I've decided to go tee-total to sort this problem, with a three day-passes for special occasions that I have in August (my DH is due to promote, going to meet our very close friends new baby for the first time and a send off for a friend before she moves abroad).
I have never had to diet previously, I used to be able to eat what I wanted. I had a baby two years ago and have retained 5kg of the weight.
My weak spot is around 4pm when my energy levels dip and I find myself in the kitchen snaffling around the snack cupboard (which to be honest, doesn't exactly have a lot in it)
I need to drink much more water!
I also need to meal plan.
FInally, I started a good exercise plan for the start of lockdown and was doing well but then the fatigue and boredom and general malaise set in and I just dropped it. So I want to pick this back up!

I've spoken to my DH and asked him to be supportive of this by accepting the food that I wish to be cooked, and if he needs further nutrition, he makes it himself e.g. if I prepare a meal with reduced carb input, he can ask for a jacket potato (as that takes no effort) or he can make himself more mash or whatever. He is happy to go along with this and has said he will weigh out food me

ANyway! What a big message. If you've got this far, thanks for reading Grin

Hi @stradivari. Some of us (me) haven’t lost much weight in those two weeks so you are not behind!

It sounds like you are planning to make lots of changes. My suggestion would be to make them one at a time but you know what’s right for you. Re sweet stuff - I am allowing myself something sweet at breakfast so I don’t feel too deprived. However I do wonder whether it would just be easier to go cold turkey and stop it altogether. I’ll experiment.

Swearwolf · 24/07/2020 08:04

Welcome @Stradivari ! I've lost nothing yet, but am trying to make long term changes that will see it come off steadily. My body always takes a while to catch up. I can't handle cutting stuff out altogether, I'm trying to be more sensible with portion control, avoid certain foods where I can (cheese, mostly) but not beat myself up if I have a little bit.

Egghead68 · 25/07/2020 06:03

69.4kg so another 200g down. I’ve gone way over calories the last two days due to putting cake and chocolate on my supermarket order and then eating it. I need to stop doing this from now on.

Mreggsworth · 25/07/2020 09:57

Hi everyone

Also on a weightloss mission.

I've gained just over 2 stone in about 18 months. Not a mystery at all if anything I'm shocked I didn't gain more. I was a health freak and fitness fanatic then got very caught up in other things (a lot has happened this year) and I let things slip. My actual meals are not bad but since starting calorie counting again the amount of snacks, take aways, wine and convenience food I was getting through and how mindless all that eating was I cringe thinking how much that must have added up to.

Anyway, I've got off to a good start. Doing around 1100 a day and a couple pounds lost. Nothing remarkable yet however only been doing it a week and previously I used to loose weight as a woosh effect so waiting for that to happen!

I'm about 7 pounds from entering into the healthy BMI category.

I'm currently 12 stone 10.

My goal weight is 11 stone 6 pounds.

I plan on very low calories till I enter a healthy BMI then I'll up my calories as I want to get back into weight training and I can't fuel that on less than 1400 calories.

My bmr Is apparently around 1550 but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I find it very motivating to read how others are doing. Well done everyone x

kirstinm · 25/07/2020 11:01

Hi all, I've been MIA for a few days due to lack of internet. Not had the best week to be honest - mainly due to a blip on Wednesday when I had breakfast at an (outside) restaurant and then far too much wine at an (outside) pub. Ugh. I almost never drink and this reminded me why - not only was I talking a load of rubbish, the next day was pretty much a write off as well. I'm also waiting on a few medical appointments coming through so I've got a bit of stress about that going on in the background too.

Oh well! Did well yesterday, eating decently and a good walk or two in and started well today too. How's everyone doing? I'm tempted not to weigh on Monday as I know it will be rubbish, on the other hand I know I need to take accountability. Not giving up is the key, I guess, and picking myself back up...which I have done (more or less).

How is everyone doing? Welcome new people!

TheNewLook · 25/07/2020 12:14

I haven’t posted for ages but I’m still plugging away at it! My scales have got stuck it seems...still aiming for under 1500 on MFP and exercising via Popsugar videos alternate days. In between days I either have a walk or do some pilates. I know my calorie intake is not low enough for fast weight loss and it suits me better this way but I’d love to see the numbers move down a bit quicker!!

Why is it so easy to gain and so hard to lose?

I started 5.5 weeks ago and I’m down 10 or 11lb so I know I need to focus on the overall picture.

I definitely feel smaller and tighter in the middle and on my legs and my waistbands are looser so that’s positive.

The negative thought I have to banish is this: I currently weigh what I did two summers ago - when I was unhappy with my weight and lost a fast half stone for a wedding!!!

Egghead68 · 25/07/2020 12:28

You are doing amazingly @TheNewLook. I am happy with the odd 100g off!

Egghead68 · 25/07/2020 12:31

@kirstinm I’ve not had the most disciplined week either but if I’ve learnt anything (weight-wise) over lockdown it’s to keep weighing myself regularly, even if I think i’ve gained. Health stuff is really stressful Flowers

TheNewLook · 25/07/2020 12:34

I think you’re right about regular weighing. We are so often told not to do this as it can be disheartening and not give a clear picture. But, personally, I know I gave up weighing myself in about February this year because I knew I’d gained and couldn’t bear to look. From there things only got worse!

I think I’m learning to cope with seeing a small increase and reminding myself of all the factors that could have caused it and not throwing the towel in and teaching for the ice-cream tub! Keeping yourself accountable is part of the battle. 💪

kirstinm · 26/07/2020 08:43

Thank you, I think you are both right about the keeping to the regular weighing. It's the accountability - when I was thinking I wouldn't weigh this week I could feel myself thinking 'oh, I'm not weighing for ten days, it doesn't really matter what I eat this weekend' which is not good! So I will weigh in - won't say I'm looking forward to it, but I do know what's caused it.

@TheNewLook you are doing great, that's a fab, consistent loss!

Stradivari · 26/07/2020 08:45

Yeh I think weighing needs to be balanced, it’s hard to know how often to do it to actually see genuine weightloss and not waterloss or whateve, which is what often catches me out

Mreggsworth · 26/07/2020 10:21

Feeling a bit disheartened. I'm the exact same weight as one week ago to the exact gram.

I'm trying to think logically that I must be holding water or due a big poop (sorry) as there is no way being 5'9, moderately active and a stone over weight could not loose on less than 1200.

Theres no way I haven't been adding up right either I'm weighing everything to the very mls of milk in my coffee and even things like garlic cloves. If anything I'd say I'm over adding as if I take a bite of my partners food I'll round it up to a 100 cals.

Desperately waiting for a woosh moment, seeing the number on the scales go down really motivates me.

Egghead68 · 26/07/2020 10:29

Starving today and already eaten my 1400 calories.

@Mreggsworth I am about the same height and find my weight decreases in fits and starts - no idea why. Hoping for a whoosh for you.

TheNewLook · 26/07/2020 11:27

Oh I’d love a whoosh moment about now as well. The scales have just frozen! I’m definitely eating to a calorie deficit and have toned up a lot. I guess it’s the old muscle weight thing. Hope I haven’t slowed my metabolism. That’s always seemed a bit mysterious to me but there are people who advise you to eat more for a few days to trick your metabolism and then drop again to ensure another “whoosh”.

I don’t know, I think having a high calorie day would be disastrous for me right now. Either I’d never come back from it or would gain two pounds overnight and throw the towel in!

Mustardpot · 26/07/2020 13:57

Hi everyone, just back from holiday, I did not diet at all and feel completely stuffed. I will weigh tomorrow morning, I know it will be bad but I can take it Grin. Wearing a tent this afternoon.

I will catch up on the thread tonight.

Egghead68 · 26/07/2020 18:36

Plan for tomorrow:
B: Cake & blueberries 450
L: Ratatouille with beans and rice 400
D: Buckwheat pancakes with brie, spinach and salad 450
S: something for 100 cal

Swearwolf · 26/07/2020 19:44

Sounds like a good plan @Egghead68 ! I've eaten too much this weekend but plan to get back on it. I'm feeling a bit rubbish - weight overall unchanged and my body feels like it's crapping out on me, menstrual cycle is all over the place and I feel really tired. Might be coming down with something!

Swearwolf · 26/07/2020 19:46

My plan for tomorrow is overnight oats for breakfast, houmous and crackers for lunch, small amount of risotto for dinner. And a bike ride!

TheNewLook · 26/07/2020 19:54

egghead do you regularly have cake for breakfast? Grin

Egghead68 · 26/07/2020 22:02

@TheNewLook when I am on a diet, yes! It’s a deliberate policy so I don’t feel deprived. It feels very decadent.

When I’m not on a diet I usually have fruit, nuts & yoghurt, toast or porridge.

@Swearwolf your plan sounds great!

Egghead68 · 26/07/2020 22:07

I have made my stuffed pancakes for tomorrow and though I say so myself they look amazing. Even if I eat the entire tray (almost physically impossible) I think they are only 1100 calories and very healthy (to counteract the cake!)

Egghead68 · 26/07/2020 22:12

Hope you had a good holiday @Mustardpot!
