I'm starting a new thread here as nobody has been posting on our old one(s) for a couple of days. Just wondering how everyone is doing (and if there are any new MNers out there who are also SW members--welcome!)
I've been a member since 15 June and am now just one teensy weensy pound away from my very first stone award. But at times it has been an uphill struggle so it's been great to share my journey with everyone here. Would love to hear from everyone else.

So Kayleigh so what's the other plan? Give us some tips. Pleeeeeeeease! Was doing really well today then we had some bad family news and I ended up eating something "quick" and unhealthy as it was convenient. Shall try and carry on tomorrow though.

Kayleigh · 25/11/2004 22:19

sorry you've had bad news sparkler1.
I'm doing weight watchers and finding it completely liberating after doing s/w for the last 10 years on and off.

Kayleigh · 25/11/2004 22:23

Christie, your maths is crap it's 12 and a half pounds in 3 weeks.

Actually i shouldn't be rude to you as I wanted to ask you a favour!! Would you be able to get me some s/w bars - pecan and/or raspberry. If you can get me £5 worth and i'll pass the money to you through anorak. They are the same points as the w/w ones but taste so much nicer. the w/w ones are like rabbit seed.

If it's a problem just say.

sparkler1 · 25/11/2004 22:27

Thanks Kayleigh. Pretty crap time at the moment. Step dad in hospital at the moment seriously ill - we are not even sure if he will get any better or if he will be returning home. Got to try and keep ourselves going and be positive.
Slimming world bars - I haven't been able to stock up on them this week. I have none to fall back on and usually have at least one a day. The chocolate and orange ones are a favourite of mine.

Hi Sparkler1, sorry to hear you're having a crap time. Thinking of you..........and lots of hugs

sparkler1 · 26/11/2004 12:37

Thanks - just had a kit-kat to cheer myself up! -ooooops

Kayleigh · 26/11/2004 14:18

Thanks loads Christie, you can be my supplier and anorak will be my dealer

Keep your mitts off anorak. If there are any missing there'll be trouble.

sparkler1 · 26/11/2004 21:09

hmmmmph comfort food is definitely kicking in right now. My attitidue at the moment is that there is more to life than dieting. I haven't given up though.

Arabica · 26/11/2004 22:01

Are the evenings worse for you Sparkler? I find it difficult to resist overeating at night as being tired is a real trigger. But I am still determined to get at least one more pound off this week and stay on target to reach club10 by Xmas.

Hi Arabica. I find my tricky times are usually about 4pm when I usually get through with a coffee and a hi-fi. I must admit a glass of wine is my winding down thing at the end of the day and something nibble is quiet nice too. The best thing for me would be to save as any syns as possible just for those. Ideally I would like to get the syns down to 5-10 a day rather than the 15 that I was given back in May.

sparkler1 · 26/11/2004 22:29

You sound like you have so much willpower right now. Good on you. Please pass some this way.

Arabica · 26/11/2004 23:02

I try to be syn-free during the day when my motivation is higher, that way I can get away with eating more at night. I know I sound focused, but right now I don't really feel it as I am just kind of rattling around the flat avoiding the work I am supposed to be doing on the computer. Even after eating a big plate of quorn sausage, egg and chips, followed by Mullerlight and practically an entire apple tree, I still keep finding myself in the fridge--luckily I put a diet coke in there earlier!

sparkler1 · 26/11/2004 23:18

That's a good idea actually. dh and I are always opening the fridge to peer in and see what's available to pick on. Must try and put some ready-made free food stuff in there and maybe that will help. Haven't been very motivated for the last couple of weeks and now have a new obstacle to get through with step-dad being ill. Shall try my best to keep with it but keep thinking life is too short to worry about diets at the moment.

sparkler1 · 27/11/2004 22:10

Have found something to give me motivation. Friends of ours have popped in to visit. They do not live locally and we haven't seen them since the beginning of the year. My mate has been doing SW since before I started (I started in May) and has lost about 2 stone 5lbs and she looks totally different. She looks amazing. Even though I have lost 1stone 10lbs and I don't feel that I look any different even though my clothes are a smaller size now.

Arabica · 29/11/2004 12:51

I am sure you DO look different Sparkler, I have lost just 1st 2lbs (joined in July) and think I've changed a lot.
Have NOT had brilliant weekend due to work-related stress, not enough sleep, and lots more socialising than usual. So have had to have two flexible days.

sparkler1 · 29/11/2004 14:10

Hi Arabica. It's my weigh in tonight. Should be interesting as I didn't go last week. Not expecting a loss more likely a gain as haven't had time to fill out diary as we have been to the hospital loads. Two flexi days are alright - better than my flexi two weeks!!!!

Arabica · 29/11/2004 15:37

aaaaaargh...have mislaid my motivation! Had to get up obscenely early to finish something I was working on, and am v tired...have just been merrily slicing a big wedge of cheddar onto large piece white toast and slathering branston pickle on top. It was delicious but now I feel cross with myself.

sparkler1 · 29/11/2004 16:48

as my consultant would say - did you enjoy it?? Good, then just carry on as normal - don't give up. You're doing just fine.

Loobz · 29/11/2004 18:53

And as my consultant would say - if it was easy we wouldn't be memebers of a slimming club. I have been crap all weekend. Blame dh, he is home for weekend and is fab cook and I have just been lazy and let him get on with it. MUST stop this or I am going to look like a whale for Christmas!!! Oh well tomorrow is another day!

Oh my god! I can't believe it. I have lost a pound. I so thought that I had put weight on. Stayed to the meeting as well and it has got me motivated again. Got some new tips and ideas from fellow members. Only hiccup is dh has xmas work party on Friday but apart from that I have no reason not to eat healthily. One of the girls lost 9lb tonight (think it was over a two week period though!).

sparkler1 · 29/11/2004 22:24

Ooooh yes - stocked up on Hi-Fi's too tonight so that should help. Couldn't get any last week as didn't go.

Arabica · 29/11/2004 23:13

Well done Sparkler! You were so convinved you'd put on weight too. I've had a really crap (sorry, flexible) day--being stuck indoors most of the day plus being knackered, equals lots of snacks. But I managed to stop after 2 large cheese and pickle sandwiches and a really tiny bar of my favourite chocolate. I made myself go out and buy the exact chocolate I fancied and I really really enjoyed it! Tomorrow is another day but I am sadly going to miss class as I have to work.
