I'm starting a new thread here as nobody has been posting on our old one(s) for a couple of days. Just wondering how everyone is doing (and if there are any new MNers out there who are also SW members--welcome!)
I've been a member since 15 June and am now just one teensy weensy pound away from my very first stone award. But at times it has been an uphill struggle so it's been great to share my journey with everyone here. Would love to hear from everyone else.

Okay Arabica. A new day tomorrow. Are we in it together?? Go on. I'm game if you are. We can do it??

Loobz · 30/11/2004 12:18

I got my plaster off today so I don't have that as an excuse to hide behind anymore. Going to class tomorrow to face up to whatever I've done and start again if it isn't good.

sparkler1 · 30/11/2004 12:55

Oh Loobz - I bet that feels better. You can have a good scratch now! . Are you feeling a bit more mobile now? Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow. You could be lucky like I was. Still can't believe that I was a pound lighter last night. It has got me motivated today though.

Loobz · 30/11/2004 14:45

I'm actually less mobile than I was with the plaster on but the doctor at hospital thinks I might be more mobile by the end of the week once the stiffness starts to ease. It will be a few weeks before i can drive but i can live with that.I have had a really good scratch and a lovely soak in the bath - bliss

twiglett · 30/11/2004 21:51

have you used the online syns tool to check out ribena .. according to that there's a variant called "Ribena arrrgghh"

Arabica · 01/12/2004 12:08

Woke up with new! improved! motivation and am determined to have shifted another pound at next weigh-in, so I can remain on track to be at my Club 10 for Xmas (yes we can do it Sparkler!). Apparently group was v boring on Tuesday night so didn't miss much, would have liked to know what I lost/gained though.
Anyway to stay on track just have to make sure I don't get too tired between now and Xmas. It's all the fault of my work (which involves pounding away at the computer). I spend ages avoiding my desk and then end up staying up most of night to get work finished on time. Glad to hear plaster is off Loobz. Intrigued by your Ribena reference Twiglett!
Christie, how are you getting on this week? After last weigh in we both had just 3lbs to get off by Xmas. Let's get one of them off this week!

Huh, so much for getting back to class tonight. Can't get anything on my foot. I tried one on dd's trainers on - she's a size bigger than me and it was okay on the foot i've just had the plaster off but I was falling out of the other one - could see me in plaster again On a positive note though I have been very good today again - keeping a food diary definately helps

Loobz · 01/12/2004 14:27

Meant to put this with last message. Arablica and Sparkler - keep up the good work - you are both doing really well

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 01/12/2004 19:44

I don't understand .. 2nd week and I put on a pound .. I have done everything by the book .. I still have 33 syns I haven't used this week ..

they kept asking if it was a period week but I'm breastfeeding and don't have them

wish I knew what I'd done wrong

wish I knew I had the strength to stick to this

can't believe I put weight on .. so unfair

joanneg · 01/12/2004 20:24

Have joined slimming world. Have been on weight watchers for a while but find it is a yoyo diet. I lost loads all at once but found it quite restricting and hard to stick to.

Must admit to finding slimming world really easy to follow, but because you can eat so much on it am a bit worried that I wont loose any weight!! I will read your messages with great interest and let you know how my next weigh in goes x

Arabica · 01/12/2004 20:41

Poor you Holly & T! Look, it's not that unusualto put weight on at the beginning. I stayed the same for 4 weeks when I first started which was really frustrating. You just have to write EVERTHING down and then insist that your consultant goes through it all with you. In my case I found I was just going too mental with the free food for my particular metabolism to cope with. I wasn't eating enough foods with the S or SS symbol either. But I kept with it because for me it was more important than anything else to feel in control of my food intake, I knew the weight loss would follow eventually, and it has, albeit v slowly. But when I am a size 12 I won't give a flying f how long it took me, I'll be too busy shimmying around in a bikini and high heels. I just hope I don't get to target until the weather warms up!

Hi all and welcome Joanneg. Love the name HollyandTwiglett - very christmassy! Why is all the yummy food so bad for you eh? I had an angellic day yesterday - only naughty thing I ate was 1 (yes one!) jelly tot out of dds tube and 4 wine gums. Had a great day all day today too until dh came home from work feeling fed up and talked me into a chinese takeaway. Hmm am now finishing it off with a bar of dairy milk chocolate that dm very "kindly" bought me yesterday. Hmmmph. Ah well new day tomorrow!!!

sparkler1 · 01/12/2004 22:04

Try not to worry about the pound Christie. You can get it off this week with no problem....and more!! We're with you. x

Hope so! You guys help me out too!!

sparkler1 · 01/12/2004 22:39

Ooooooohh. I know what I meant to tell you all. Found something new and scrummy to eat! Went to group on Monday and someone gave me the idea. Tried it and it was delicious. FROZEN BANANAS. Peel a banana - stick in on a skewer or a lolly stick. Wrap in clingfilm and freeze. Yum. Just like a banana lolly. Wish I'd known about them in the summer when the kids were eating their ice-creams in front of me. Makes a good evening snack too as it lasts ages. TOTALLY FREE TOO!!

joanneg · 02/12/2004 19:31

sparkler - love the banana idea.

My slimming world consultant is lovely. The strange thing is is that she is really overweight (probably about 25 stone). It is in one way good because I feel that she understands what it is like to be overweight. On the other hand I hope that this isn't a bad oman for the diet!

The good news is I lost 7lbs in my first week, which I am really pleased with.

SPARKLER1clausiscomingtotown · 02/12/2004 22:17

Oh Joanneeg that's isn't very encouraging is it? Believe me though the diet does work. Just fill out those food diaries and you'll be just fine. When did you start SW? It does take a good 3 or 4 weeks to get the hang of it so don't get disheartened. I still dig into the book now and then to get ideas or to check things. We all give each other lots of encouragement on here too - so stick with us! Good luck! xx

SPARKLER1clausiscomingtotown · 02/12/2004 22:17

PS - glad the banana idea sounded good to you - give it a go it's really easy.

Turkiegirl · 02/12/2004 22:24

who was it who suggested the shepherd's pie with mashed carrot and swede topping instead of potato on original days? Did it tonight and it was GORGEOUS! Bit of cheese on top too was yummy yummy!

SPARKLER1clausiscomingtotown · 02/12/2004 22:51

Hi Turkiegirl. It was Arabica on the slimming world recipies thread. x

Turkiegirl · 03/12/2004 12:27

well it was absolutely yummy, definitely worth trying!

Arabica · 03/12/2004 22:13

OOh am so pleased you liked the recipe! Haven't had a great week and am aiming to be extra-good at the weekend, to make up for the Jaffa cakes and chocolate I failed to resist at my friend's house...and the large quantities of extra toast I had at my own house!
Am toying with a seasonal nickname but can't be arsed.
