Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

@Plancina well done!
@overweightcat - have you had any whisper of a UTI recently? I had a grumbling kidney infection which I mistook for a pulled muscle, until I remembered that I'd had a 'touch' of cystitis and got myself to the GP. Wee test and antibiotics might be in order?

I haven't had a particularly virtuous week apart from holding back on the raspberries and cream. Not done a huge amount of exercise either so not expecting much on the weight front. But I did slip into some clothes that I had to breathe in to feel comfortable in a year ago. So even though I never go anywhere to wear nice things, I have some nice clothes not to wear!

Plancina · 08/07/2020 17:08

I did two Lucy Wyndham workouts this morning, on you tube - they got me extremely sweaty and out of breath!

PowerslidePanda · 08/07/2020 20:10

Excellent, @Plancina - congratulations!

Hope you're feeling better now, @overweightcat

I've given myself the day off today. With the exception of last week's ice cream incident, I've had a decent run of 700-800 calorie deficit days and yet the weight isn't coming off. Feeling a bit "what's the point", so indulging for today and I'll get back on it tomorrow.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 08/07/2020 20:47

Well I've had a run of no day over 1200 calories. Some as low as 995. And it's still not shifting.

Managed a few runs too. I used to be able to loose weight so easily - I blame the menopause!

But I'll keep at it. Well done to everyone who's lost!

GreenBudgie · 08/07/2020 20:51

@Plancina well done for getting to 64's

@overweightcat I'm sticking with 3 meals a day as I stick to rigid meal timings to give the Parent a routine. We have dinner at 5pm so I have breakfast or I get ravenous before lunch. I dry roast sunflower seeds, sprinkle them with salt & pepper, then weigh out portions to suit my calorie allowance to keep me away from biscuits.

clevername · 08/07/2020 21:22

Hope you feel better soon @overweightcat. And well done @Plancina and @BorsetshireBlueBalls for your respective loss / nicely fitting clothes to not wear.

My body decided to have a bit of a purge for some reason last night... Sorry to be gross. But it kind of made me feel good. And this morning the scales said 8st 6 (it flirted with sticking on 8st 5 too!) so I've finally made a bit of progress. I added it to MFP and it was kind of sobering to see that I have officially only lost 1lb in nearly a month... I spoke to my sis about it and she pondered whether I was already at my ideal weight and that was why I was struggling to lose more. But I'm not sure it works like that?

I had a fast day today. But I also made a huge vegan chocolate cake for DP's birthday tomorrow (note to self... Don't make cakes on fast days. It turns out I actually have two dieting nemesises (nemesi?!): salt and vinegar pringles AND chocolate buttercream. I just couldn't stop myself).

We're going out for a pizza tomorrow and I intend to indulge fully. Does anyone have an idea how many calories a vegetarian restaurant pizza has? MFP has a wildly huge range to choose from. Not that it's going to stop me stuffing my face, I just want to record as accurately as possible.

carrottopper · 08/07/2020 23:13

@clevername hope you enjoyed your pizza. What is your target weight?

@PowerslidePanda I feel the same. I've completely gone off plan and stopped all exercise and I'm down to 11stone 1 this morning. I don't get it! I feel like the weight has come back on my face and thighs but the scales don't show how rubbish my eating has been. Wondering if it will all lump on later in the week. I'm struggling so much around 2:30-5pm and end up snacking with the kids whilst watching a film before tea

carrottopper · 08/07/2020 23:35

@Plancina and @BorsetshireBlueBalls congratulations!

1400 calories, 15 minutes bodyweight routine yesterday. I'm drinking redbush tea or sugar free tea instead of snacking. This is Day 4 which is the day I normally find hardest on any diet. Will do weight training tonight. Hope everyone is well.

GreenBudgie · 09/07/2020 07:33

I discovered an inspiring thread on Myfitnesspal this morning in "General Health Fitness and Diet" category. It's titled "Does this uterus make my stomach look fat". It's full of honest images of normal BMI women and illustrates how healthy weight comes in many shapes and sizes.

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 09/07/2020 11:11

Well I am quite surprised about this but I have lost 0.5kg according to the scales and I am now 59.6kg. I have recorded this in MFP naturally! I don't feel I've tried especially hard this week and can only conclude that weight loss is mysterious.

clevername · 09/07/2020 12:41

Well done @BorsetshireBlueBalls!

I agree, weight loss is without doubt a strange and fickle beast.

PowerslidePanda · 09/07/2020 21:06

@carrottopper - Great that you're weight is down (at least for now - hope it doesn't go up later in the week like you said!)

Congratulations on the loss, @BorsetshireBlueBalls!

How was tricky Day 4, @GreenBudgie?

Yesterday (my day off) I did still limit my calorie intake to break even, so in theory no harm done. Back on course today and my deficit should end up as 850. Just need the scales to start moving again!

carrottopper · 09/07/2020 21:21

Can I ask what this deficit is? How do I work that out?

Indecisivelurcher · 09/07/2020 21:25

I could do with losing half a stone. Where do I start?! I've got myfitnesspal and have done calorie counting before. I'm finding it hard to fit much cardio in, most of my exercise is physio for slipped discs, not recently about 2yrs ago but still plagued by sciatica. I'm not sure I could handle fasting.

GreenBudgie · 09/07/2020 21:35

@BorsetshireBlueBalls congratulations, great to see people succeeding!

@PowerslidePanda I'm doing OK thanks, 1400 calories and 15 minutes bodyweight training. I'm going to take photos so I can see if anything is changing on the fat/muscle ratio, even if the scales don't show much change.

@Indecisivelurcher welcome! What calorie intake worked for you before? People here are getting results with fasting, but I'm on good old fashioned calorie counting. I'll review that decision in 4 weeks if simple counting isn't working.

Indecisivelurcher · 09/07/2020 21:36

I've just looked at when I last used it, I was maintaining on about 1400 a day. I've put in my weight now and to lose 1lb a week, I'd like to lose about 5-7lb. It's given me 1200 Cals. What does that even look like...

PowerslidePanda · 09/07/2020 21:40

Can I ask what this deficit is? How do I work that out?

It's the difference between the calories you burn and the calories you consume. By the end of today, I will have burned approx 2150 calories and I've consumed approx 1300, so a deficit of 850. In theory, if you have a deficit of 500 calories each day then you'll lose 1lb a week, 1000 for 2lb a week, etc (of course in practice, weight loss seems to be more random - as discussed above!). You track the calories you consume from food labels and can estimate the calories you burn from a TDEE calculator or by wearing a tracker (e.g. a Fitbit).

@Indecisivelurcher - I thought that about fasting too, but have you heard of 16:8? I recently heard about it and it was actually very close to what I do naturally - just avoid snacking after dinner and eat mid-morning the next day!

@GreenBudgie - Glad today has gone well Smile Good idea about the photos - wish I'd thought to get some proper "before" shots for comparison!

Indecisivelurcher · 09/07/2020 21:43

Yes @powerslide I have and it does seem more doable, thanks for the reminder! Late bowl of porridge for me tomorrow then!

PowerslidePanda · 09/07/2020 22:19

@Indecisivelurcher - Sounds good! I can't say I manage 16:8 every day, but I don't think I'd manage any other type of fasting at all, hehe!

Indecisivelurcher · 09/07/2020 22:24

I think I'm do 10-6 then and not worry too much on days we're heading out. I finished a bottle of wine off tonight, removing temptation...

carrottopper · 09/07/2020 23:27

My iwatch has a number under the red movement tracker which says 2,394. Is that it? So if I've had 1500 calories today that's 894 deficit?

Indecisivelurcher · 10/07/2020 06:28

The trouble with 16:8 is when you're kids get up at 5am and you're faced with 5hrs before breakfast on top of sleep deprivation ...

So calorie counting, what sort of exercise do people count? I would only really bother to add in things that I'm counting on strava, so cycling or running. I wouldn't put say walking the dog or general movement.

Indecisivelurcher · 10/07/2020 07:19

OK I promise not to be here ALL the time, but I've just done a 15 minute home hiit and mfp days 84 measly calories :>(
