Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Panda that's brilliant news too! Well done

clevername · 05/07/2020 20:54

Well done @overweightcat for officially reaching your target! That's amazing! Also well done @PowerslidePanda for your inches... Awesome news. I wish I'd taken measurements. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips, @BorsetshireBlueBalls - they sound right up my alley. I'll check one of them out tomorrow when I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO START MY EXERCISE REGIME. Honestly, I am.

PowerslidePanda · 05/07/2020 21:09

@clevername - I definitely recommend taking measurements - I didn't do it until I was already about 3 months in so wasn't sure I'd see much difference, but glad I did now. Having not seen the scales move for a few days, it was a lovely motivation boost!

overweightcat · 05/07/2020 21:39

@PowerslidePanda my next goal is my end goal weight of 60kg so 9.1kgs down and 4.9kgs to go.

I did measure myself a couple of weeks ago but my notepad has disappeared somewhere Hmm

GreenBudgie · 06/07/2020 09:09

Is there room here for a 5 foot 2, 57 year old who has half stone to lose please? I gave up full time work a year ago to provide care 24/7 for Parent with dementia. The first 9 months were horrendous, they had the care needs of a newborn baby, I was chronically sleep deprived, confined to the house with no time for exercise and surviving on tea, biscuits and sandwiches. Thankfully I'm getting more sleep now, I can get out for 2 30 minute walks a day to give myself and break and I've just had some home weights delivered which I can use in the evening. I'm 8 stone 7, looking to get to 8 stone and add a bit of lean muscle if I can. I'm aiming for 1400 caps per day, logging on MFP, with 3 weights sessions a week.

clevername · 06/07/2020 13:00

Hi @GreenBudgie... Welcome. There's weirdly a whole load of us in this thread who are 5 ft 2 (I'm one of them). I'm currently 8st 8 and heading for exactly the same target as you.

I'm fasting today so currently having a tin of soup. It's only 128 calories, which is awesome (makes dinner easier as I've got 372 calories left to play with) but I REALLY HATE SOUP.

GreenBudgie · 06/07/2020 13:13

Thanks for the welcome @clevername. It was the number of "undertall" people on the thread that attracted me here! 7 pounds extra really shows on a short torso. I hate tinned soup, I think I'd rather chew my way through a pile of shopped veg instead. Good luck in your goals, I hope dinner is more enjoyable.

carrottopper · 06/07/2020 18:32

If I stick to 1200-1500 calories a day, how much do you think I could lose in 4-5 weeks?

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 06/07/2020 19:11

Hello @GreenBudgie - gosh, it sounds like you have been really up against it. Glad to hear you have some exercise and head space time to yourself now.

PowerslidePanda · 06/07/2020 21:34

@overweightcat - Ooh, so you're on the final stretch now - excellent! Hope you find your notepad!

Welcome, @GreenBudgie!

@carrottopper - Based on your current weight and height, I'd say between 4lb and 10lb - depending on how active you are

overweightcat · 06/07/2020 21:45

@PowerslidePanda yes fingers crossed. Although not had the best start to the week. Don't know if it's a couple of slip ups last week or some bloat but I'm up to 65.3kg after getting down to 64.9kg Envy

CalmConfident · 06/07/2020 22:54

Rejoining...another one of the vertically challenged gang...nearly 5ft 3. I was all happy as thought I was 60kg...but new scales arrived today (I did not own any) and they just said I was 64kg. Boo!!!

However have lost a dress size in lockdown and more lean muscle so happy with that. Fancy new scales measure body fat and things too so will see how I go.

GreenBudgie · 07/07/2020 06:38

@carrottopper I'm no expert, but I wouldn't go as low as 1200 calories as it's very hard to eat enough fat & protein to stop you getting ravenous at that level. Well done to those achieving their goals and hello to @CalmConfident.

1400 calories/15 minutes bodyweight routine/60 minutes walking yesterday. The weights are set up, I'll do a training session tonight.

CalmConfident · 07/07/2020 07:46

Thanks @GreenBudgieThis morning I am 62.7kg Confused

Going to only weigh a couple of times a week and in mornings to be consistent

Plancina · 07/07/2020 08:03

@CalmConfident if you weigh daily and just note it down and don’t stress about it, then take a weekly average that is the most accurate way to track your loss, and it does show you that your weight goes up and down for other reasons than food, I’ve seen a rise for a day or two when I’ve eaten 800 cals both days and exercised so I know it can’t be fat gain, but must be water or hormones or muscle.
I’m 65.2 today, really want to break into the 64s... tomorrow! I feel your pain @overweightcat - fingers crossed we both get there tomorrow. I’m on the very fast 800 for the next three weeks (I’ve already been doing it for 1 week) right up to the day we travel home for my wedding. Hoping to at least shift 6 more pounds in that time which will take me to 9 stone 10, my first goal is 9 stone 5 which is a healthy weight for my height so I’ll be watching what I eat on honeymoon and then when I get back doing 4 more weeks fast800, before hopefully moving to 5:2 to maintain.

overweightcat · 07/07/2020 08:27

@Plancina it's a bit tortuous isn't it! I know realistically I have done better than ever with my weight loss considering my previous attempts all failed. But I keep going up and down that line between 65 and 64 and it's driving me crazy I can't wait until I'm consistently under 65. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Only did 20mins workout this morning and not very good either as my entire lower back feels bruised and I took it very easy just to get moving.
Showered, going to moisturise and get dressed then have my coffee. Doing a to do list for today to keep me on track and hopefully on my feet - going to rope in the toddler to help Grin

carrottopper · 07/07/2020 08:41

First weigh in since completely going off the careful eating and I'm 11.2 which I'm happy about. Makes me think I don't get it though. I've eaten so many crisps and chocolates and biscuits and completely stopped exercise. Aiming to stick to 3 meals and lots of movement today. I feel like I'm stuck at this weight. Has anyone got any suggestions? My aim was to get to 10.7 by mid August. I was going lots of exercise hiit, running and burning 800 calories a day with no snacks. Started all this on 11.7 I think but the last two weeks I've eaten what I want. Honestly thought I would be back up to 11.7. I definitely have my flab back. Just finished my period too so maybe that is why I'm not as heavy

Drybird2020 · 07/07/2020 15:27

I'm fasting today, but after a three day weekend of not taking care or recording what I ate. I'm struggling with motivation, I think because I look and feel so much better, it doesn't seem like such a pressing issue. I do want to shift this last half stone, I just wish it wasn't such a drag...

carrottopper · 07/07/2020 16:09

Has anyone used any of the plans/ diets? I really feel like I want a 4 week plan and maybe buy meals in as I am so useless with knowing what I can and can't have especially for evening meals

overweightcat · 07/07/2020 18:06

So today has been a fail. Aiming for 1200cals but I'm up to just over 1500 including going over my fats, carbs and sugar Sad

I've been in general discomfort with my back today (lower back and my tailbone feels bruised for some reason) and I think it's my brains weird attempt at making myself feel better by snacking Hmm
Feeling utterly rubbish about it now though.
I've had my dinner so hoping to just stick to water for the rest of the day and thinking of how to burn of those cals...

GreenBudgie · 08/07/2020 06:58

@overweightcat Hope you are getting better. I understand how being in pain can make you eat more.
@carrottopper I've never used a meal plan. If preparing meal at home with the correct calorie count is a pain maybe have a calorie counted supermarket ready meal for your main meal?
25 minute weight training and 1400 calories yesterday. Feels good to be lifting again. I will weigh in on Mondays.

overweightcat · 08/07/2020 09:14

Thanks @GreenBudgie
Trying to rectify yesterday this morning.
Ticked off an hours walk with the dog, according to my Fitbit that's 7705 steps, 5.4k and 432cals so hoping that will help.

Going to try to stick to 1200cals again and cutting out coffee as I've been off it so just lemon water today.
I still have the ache in my back but I'm worried it might be my kidney? It started off a cross the full width at the bottom of my back but this morning it's just on one side slightly higher up but radiating right up to where my bra strap sits.
It's barely there when I'm laid down or sat down but feel it much more when I'm moving around or if I touch that area.

GreenBudgie · 08/07/2020 09:25

@overweightcat Get professional advice if you are worried, but that fact that the pain is related to posture sounds like you have pulled a muscle. If you look at an anatomy drawing of back musculature, there are loads of layers which cross your back and a tweak to any one of them could be the source of the pain. Dog walking is good for general happiness. Good luck sticking to your calorie goals today. Do you have your meals planned out?

overweightcat · 08/07/2020 10:07

@GreenBudgie it was a rather brisk paced walk in pouring rain but Ddog seemed to enjoy the puddles Grin

Maybe I'm overthinking the pain, I had a kidney infection once and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy so I think I might be a bit cautious to any niggles in that area. It's definitely eased for now unsure if the walk helped.
Meal wise I don't plan anything too strictly but I usually skip breakfast is I'm never really hungry in the morning. Just stick to water and a cup of coffee if I fancy it. If I'm really hungry I'll have a couple of boiled eggs or small bowl of porridge but it's very rare. Lunch today is homemade carrot and coriander soup with a slice of whole meal toast and dinner will be salmon, homemade sweet potato wedges and broccoli or spinach.
It's the snacking that is my vice as I'm fighting agains my huge sweet tooth and cravings for other bad things.

Plancina · 08/07/2020 10:32

64.80kg this morning, so happy!
