Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I’m struggling today too @carrottopper, would very much like to eat a chocolate hobnob or 3. I don’t know what’s set it off.

carrottopper · 15/06/2020 13:43

@KeirStarmerDonkeyFarmer I'm having a coffee and telling myself that if I am still craving them tonight, I can have some (but hoping I can distract myself)

KeirStarmerDonkeyFarmer · 15/06/2020 13:56

Good plan. I’m having a few cashews, which calorifically probably aren’t that different, but I’m hoping it will avoid the sugar crash and more craving cycle.

PowerslidePanda · 15/06/2020 14:19

Hi @Drybird2020 - I also joined this thread having already lost weight but struggling with motivation for the last stone (seems to be working though - I'm 3lb lighter than when I first posted)! How much have you lost so far?

CalmConfident · 15/06/2020 17:50

I had a chocolate hob-Nob today Blush . I have a super secret stash hidden from my 2 locust-like DS. I am proud I have only eaten 4 in a week...I could happily snaffle the whole packet

bez91 · 15/06/2020 18:10

Becoming frustrated. 4 weeks in and only shifted 1lb and 0.6% body fat. Starting weight was 9st. Sticking to 1400cals and usually well under. Not really got a goal weight just to look fitter and more toned losing some mum tum. Running 3 times a week, fitting in 2 workouts a week also... grrr

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 15/06/2020 18:28

Weighed myself after all - still 60.5kg (same as last Wednesday) despite the birthday cake-biscuits-sitting on my arse reading most of the weekend. Walked 5k today (with lots of shopping on my back!) and did a ballet workout. Going to have Vietnamese pho takeaway tonight, to celebrate our local opening up again. My knees, feet and calves are quite sore - feel like I need to stretch a lot, a lot.

Drybird2020 · 15/06/2020 18:36

Hello @PowerslidePanda, I started at 12st 12lb and am down to 11st 10-ish. I bounce up and down a pound either side of this and I think I'd easily stay at this weight without too much effort. However, I really want to get down to 11st which would be the lowest of my adult life! How did you get on today?

KeirStarmerDonkeyFarmer · 15/06/2020 19:15

I am extremely impressed with your restraint @CalmConfident. The only reason I haven’t had a hobnob is that I know I would eat many hobnobs 😄

PowerslidePanda · 15/06/2020 19:31

That must be so annoying, @bez91! Hope your hard work starts to pay off soon!

Ooh, you're doing great, @Drybird2020! I know what you mean - my target weight is a bit higher than I'd like, but I chose it because I'm hoping it's something I can realistically maintain.

Today was good, thanks - stuck to 1200 calories and managed some exercise too. Mondays tend to be my best day of the week though! How about you?

Drybird2020 · 15/06/2020 19:44

@PowerslidePanda do you stick to 1200 every day? I'd find that tough!

I've done OK today though I been very sedentary. I shall do some power yoga shortly 😊 DH is currently cooking something nice but I will weigh my portion and not have seconds. Tomorrow is a fast day and I'll run first thing.

clevername · 15/06/2020 20:25

@molifly14 - I totally get what you mean about that 'click' in your head. I've spent the last two years watching myself slowly putting weight on and thinking 'I just can't bring myself to care enough to do anything about it'. Something changed a couple of months ago though and I'm so pleased... Now I'm over that initial grief stage of missing food, I feel so good that I'm tackling it now!

Are you doing the 'new 5:2' thing, where you stick to 800 calories a day for a few weeks? I'm doing the retro 5:2 - 2 x 500 calorie fasts a week. And I'm also sticking to 1200 (give or take!) on the normal days because I wasn't seeing enough of a change.

Welcome, @WagathaChristieDoesItAgain - I'm 5ft 2 too. Think there's quite a few short arses on here Grin.

overweightcat · 15/06/2020 20:32

I've done ok today despite no workout (bar 5min abs) and coming in under 1200cals.

Feeling a bit peckish though and wondering if anyone knows of anything I can have at about 150 cals or less with very little or no fat?

CalmConfident · 15/06/2020 20:50

MFP done, closing the kitchen for the day and stepping back from the wine refill .

PowerslidePanda · 15/06/2020 20:52

@Drybird2020 - No, 1200 every day is too tough for me as well! I usually only manage it a couple of times a week. Ooh, what's power yoga?

Lurkingforawhile · 15/06/2020 22:17

I have a target date now! We've just booked a holiday, and ok it's Yorkshire so not a bikini holiday, but I want to be lighter for the walking. Even though my BMI is ok (by about three pounds!) my knees ache sometimes. A physio friend told me that losing a pound takes three pounds pressure off your knees when walking. I have 12 weeks to go until hols and this gorgeous hot tub.

Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?
carrottopper · 15/06/2020 22:44

I've just entered my dinner into MFP and it's more than I thought. Think I've gone just over 1500 calories. Gutted!

Drybird2020 · 15/06/2020 22:46

@PowerslidePanda one of the more difficult Adrienne ones. I love yoga and am trying to do a bit every day but the drawback is it's all bitty and I tend not to do a full practice, so I am going to do a longer one at least once a week.

annabell22 · 16/06/2020 04:36

@overweightcat well done on your loss!

@bez91 I hear you - I bounce around within a 1kg range day after day after day. Last week I averaged 10k steps daily and ate really well. Still 200g above my lowest weight about 10 days ago. It almost feels like if I did nothing the outcome would be the same!

I finish work in a few weeks for the summer so my plan is to be out of the house more and increase my activity so it occurs throughout the day instead of a 75 minute blast at 4.30pm. Our swimming pool opens today so I can get some socially-distanced swimming in too, which I enjoy but struggle to prioritise as it has no impact on my step count!!

carrottopper · 16/06/2020 10:16

I've just checked through MFP and some of the amounts on there don't match the ones of the packets eg Oats so simple porridge comes up at 180 calories on MFP but 209 on the box 😰 Think my calculations have been way off!

overweightcat · 16/06/2020 10:49

@carrottopper I've noticed that too a few weeks ago.
Example - I had 2 Nairns chocolate oatcakes and when I typed it in MFP the calories varied from 20- something to 100 something. It took me a hot minute and a bit of scrolling to find the particular type I was looking for which matched the packet.

A few times I couldn't find the accurate information for food so I ended up clicking on the add food button and entering the nutritional information in myself and just use that.
I think some of the stuff on there is entered by people doing the same but they omit stuff - I.e. Demerara sugar is just calories and doesn't add anything onto your fats or strangely enough sugar points for the day Hmm so I've had to do my own too.

CalmConfident · 16/06/2020 12:35

Do you use the barcode scanner on MFP, it seems to be good for some things but brings up strange measurements for others

overweightcat · 16/06/2020 13:03

I don't use the scanner because I tend to use my iPad for MFP. Some of the measurements in general are strange though.

I've also been using a nutrition calculator online where you put all your ingredients in and amounts down to the spices and enter how many servings it yields and it works out estimated calories and nutrition information. I then add it to MFP myself and can use it going forward when I next make it.

I've found it handy as I make some recipes which are my own and I couldn't possibly guess how they work out on that front or how to enter it on MFP .

carrottopper · 16/06/2020 20:29

I've lost 6lb and had my first comment about it today. Feel good. However, I'm currently having a glass of wine and dinner (not the healthiest) cooked by OH and worrying that it's going to start a downward slide. I've been really good for over 2 weeks

PowerslidePanda · 16/06/2020 21:28

@Drybird2020 Thanks - I used to do yoga but haven't tried any of Adrienne's videos. Sounds like power yoga might be one to build up to though!

@carrottopper I find that if I'm too strict with myself, I eventually end up binging on stuff I shouldn't have, so think of it as a little treat to keep up your momentum. And if you feel you're slipping, remember the comment you had today!

I was doing very well today, until DH asked me if I wanted some chips as an evening snack - chips are my kryptonite!
