Apologies for the terrible title but I wanted to encapsulate the boss and how supportive everyone is.

Morning all. I had a good day yesterday but had a rubbish nights sleep. Kept waking up and wanting to nibble on something but I resisted. Think it’s anxiety, my jaw is sore from clenching it overnight ugh.

Food yesterday
B - berries, banana, yoghurt and granola
L - chicken and cheese wrap, dried soybeans, grapes
D - carbonara with salad and garlic bread
S - cornetto
E - ran 5k and rode the horse

Stayed just within my calories and dinner was delicious so all good.

Planning a Jillian Michaels in a bit then taking the horse to a competition this afternoon. It’s a busy week for her!

RubySlippers77 · 17/07/2020 13:26

Your day sounds fab @Foreverlexicon! Must be lovely to have a horse in weather like this, riding through the countryside in the sun Smile

You're probably right @fallfallfall, sadly it is very elusive Sad the biggest weight losses came from people who completely overhauled their diet - such as fast food lovers following a vegan diet, or 'nibblers' starting a very low calorie diet - but the most sustainable losses came from people who enjoyed their new lifestyle and said they were going to keep on (for example) eating more protein and less carbs. Really nothing new but it's useful to see people trying out different ideas and what works for them.

I did a (very) unscientific experiment for you today @SunshineCake - weighed myself before and after having a big wee - I lost 1lb!! Shock I wouldn't have thought it made a whole pound's worth of difference. I ended up doing an unplanned run too as I had a courier booked for today and of course they arrived during the only 15 minutes I had to be out of the house collecting the DC from school, we had to make a mad dash home! I won't count that as day 2 of my 50 day exercise plan though, I'll do a HIIT workout later I think.

I'm a bit worried though as it looks like AF is arriving again only two weeks after the last one Hmm I noticed some bleeding today after my unscheduled run. Not sure yet whether it is AF or some spotting, but either way I assume it's another symptom of perimenopause along with me being too hot at night and general knackeredness. I'm even more determined to lose the weight now as it's one thing I can change in a difficult situation!

SunshineCake · 17/07/2020 16:40

A pound is impressive *@RubySlippers77! I was good and didn't weigh myself today.

I was out with my dog for two hours then I spent all day until an hour ago cleaning my bedroom. I also made notes for my therapy appointment, threw out a book which feels like a big deal because of the title and I've felt very tired and emotional since with no idea why.

I can't wait until Sunday when DS1 comes home.

I am also having menopausal stuff. I missed three months of periods then had one last month Confused. I can't remember the last time I had any hot flushes though.

Hope you all have a nice evening.

Morning all.
Good day yesterday although a very sad one as I found out an old friend had committed suicide. Will 2020 ever stop giving?

Food yesterday;
B - rice cakes with peanut butter and banana
L - chicken and cheese roll, crisps
D - Indian mince with rice and green beans
S - apple, chocolate biscuits
E - ran 7.3k and rode the horse
Came in about 100 calories under.

I’m back at work tomorrow which I’m quite apprehensive about. Only 4 hours for the next few weeks though so it feels fairly manageable.

Will do a Jillian Michaels and ride the horse. Garden needs a good tidy and I need to get my work stuff ready.

SunshineCake · 18/07/2020 13:00

Oh *@Foreverlexicon Flowers. I am so sorry your friend was struggling so much and I am so sorry for your loss. Today is a day for being kind to yourself, however that suits you Sad.

OP posts:
SunshineCake · 18/07/2020 13:06

*@Foreverlexicon well done on your 7.3km run. I feel embarrassed I was pleased with my 5.3km now.

Try not to worry about work. Plan a favourite meal for when you get back and focus on your progress and know you can do it.

You've reminded me I have seeds and bulbs to sow and plant as I finally found them after I tidied up.

I've done lots of cleaning this week. A room a day really thoroughly on top of walking my dog every day for 1.25-2 hours and running every other day. I'm so tired and I'm not sure if due to all that or the recovery process taking a while.

This morning I didn't fancy running for the first time but I went and I did 5.89 in 46 minutes 40 seconds. My average for a km was 7 min 56 but I bumped into my neighbour who is training for a triathlon to represent her country and she runs 7-8 minutes per kilometre, so I feel less slow though she also does fast bits and my face was ShockGrin. I then walked the dog as well so I have been active all morning. Looking forward to sleep and a lie in hopefully tomorrow.

I have decided to go on the exercise bike every other day as I am so close to dropping down to the next weight stone and really want to do it in the next month.

fallfallfall · 18/07/2020 14:49

I’m sorry forever for your loss.
I really like that you post your good food choices. It’s inspiring. Dh bought something at Costco which is such a no no...
These small pretzel and caramel clusters that are then chocolate dipped 180 calories for 3.
If only I could stop at 3 not 4-5...
B 2 crepes filled with stewed fruit (rhubarb raspberry apple)
L 1/2 bagel with tomatoes and bean sprouts (bean sprouts my youngest ds sprouted)
Snack those chocolate treats
S a very good hearty beef and barley soup that took me all day to make.
Desert ice cream
Exercise: 140 minutes. Two bike rides a stroll around the block and a fitness walk video.
sunshine your doing so well with your run, I bet your VO2 Max has improved (heart health).

RubySlippers77 · 18/07/2020 21:34

Costco do amazing cinnamon rolls @fallfallfall, I can eat loads of them in one go Blush this is why I don't trust myself to go to Costco Grin

@SunshineCake you are doing astonishingly well with the cleaning too!! I have no idea how to keep the house even reasonably clean with the DC around, even as I am cleaning they are making twice as much mess behind me Sad we're going to do the garden tomorrow as well, although I fear DS2 will have killed off most of the plants with his own method of 'caring' for them...

Not doing too badly with the diet, just plodding on really. We did get a takeaway yesterday but I didn't get anything too indulgent and have spread it over two meals. I did a HIIT workout yesterday and one today too (day 3 of 50!), will weigh in on Monday and hope that two stone has suddenly dropped off.

Very sorry for your loss @Foreverlexicon Flowers

fallfallfall · 18/07/2020 21:40

i could only dream of loosing two of anything over a weekend...
costco indeed holds many treasures. one treat is really interesting seeds in nougat.
now that the children have all left, i honestly relish cleaning and tidying. it brings me a sense of peace. i use to do it with so much anger in my heart.

SunshineCake · 18/07/2020 22:01

I improved my peak flow by 70 I think so happy with that.

If the house is a mess then emotionally I struggle. Mine are all teenagers so easier to keep tidy as I don't have to look after the kids in the same way as with little ones.

I am really tired though and my hip is hurting again tonight.

But DS1 is home tomorrow teatime after two weeks away so I am Grin.

Foreverlexicon · 19/07/2020 05:09

@SunshineCake don’t be daft! Achievements are all relative! Besides, it takes time to build up the distance; I’ve been running regularly since March and it took me ages to build up to this.

@fallfallfall your food sounds delicious!

Yesterday was good. Bit too much snacking on rubbish which I’m not too impressed about; I could’ve left 250 on the table but had biscuits. I was in my calories so it’s all good but frankly if I want to make my goal, I could do with all the lower days I can manage.

B - yoghurt with granola, berries and banana
L - roll with chicken and cheese, crisps
D - mushroom risotto with salad and garlic bread
S - mars ice cream, chocolate biscuits
E - 40 min Jillian Michaels video and rode the horse.

Back to work this morning. Only 4 hours. I’m looking forward to it. A bit anxious as I’m a bit embarrassed to see my sergeants because they know a bit too much about my personal life and I know there’s going to be an awkward chat or two but they have been really good and I know it’s just because they care. I’m meeting my sister for a walk after. Also waving the gf off on her 11 day walkabout. Feeling very jealous and a bit sad as she’ll be pretty much off grid for the duration and I’m needy but it will do her the world of good.

Have a good day everyone

SunshineCake · 19/07/2020 13:24

Hope work went well, *@Foreverlexicon and that the chat wasn't as difficult as you feared.

You'll have lots to talk about when your GF is back. A hug will be lovely.

I started running May 9th. DH thinks I should take a few days off to let me hip heal. I'm worried I'll lose ability. I was going to start going on the exercise bike every other day too as I really want to be able to run faster but also get these last 2-3 lbs off to drop to the next stone level.

I'm worried I might comfort eat today. I'm cross with DS2 and told him off and accidentally swore at him. I have said to him I am sad I shouted. DS1 will be home in a few hours so that will cheer me up.

Hi all

Just checking in

Sorry for your loss @Foreverlexicon and hope that work went OK today.

Hope that you feel better @SunshineCake and that DS1's return is a lovely time.

Sounds like you're doing well @RubySlippers77 Hope the knee feels better soon.

How are things @fallfallfall?

We are away for a few days so take out yesterday and today, but a food order for the rest of the week to limit some of the damage.

Take care all x

SunshineCake · 19/07/2020 18:41

Hi everyone

DS got home a few hours early and I am very happy to have him back. It will be lovely having him around though he wants to find a job so has a productive summer. He was meant to be helping run something but of course it has been cancelled Sad.

I've just done 22 minutes and 9.7k on the bike. If I ran for 22 minutes I'd probably do 3 km at best!

fallfallfall · 19/07/2020 21:56

all's well over here mrsjones, steady busy.
i'm pretty pleased at my creative use of left overs :). i took a single lunch serving of chili and placed half of it in the little hollow of a butternut squash (so now two servings) and took a tiny bit of Monterey Jack Jalapeno cheese (literally 1 oz) and melted it on top of the chili. dh loved it ;).
today i'm using up a half left over can of beer!! yup calls for beer in Flemish Beer Stew.
then there are the raspberries...froze up 6 cups worth and will make jam tonight.
huge backlog in daily chores this last week due to currants...those darn little things were hell to process (picking off the minuscule little woody bit not the flower end though).
slowly catching up. but managing my 2 hours a day of exercise.

fallfallfall · 19/07/2020 22:06

enjoy mrsjones, i hope the time away is relaxing.

RubySlippers77 · 19/07/2020 23:17

Yummy chilli recipe @fallfallfall!

Hope work went ok @Foreverlexicon, and I hope too that your gf enjoys her trip Smile

How lovely that your DS1 is home @SunshineCake! And well done on your biking; as I understand it, if any joints are hurting then you do need to have a little rest till they're better, but cycling would be a good low impact way to keep up your fitness. I actually managed w5r3 tiday which I was really pleased with, but am not sure how much better I'm going to get, especially with the summer holidays and less free time looming...

DP went shopping today. I gave him a list of healthy foods such as fruit, veg, fat free yogurt, quorn... he came home with Pringles, chocolate biscuits and lots of meat for himself Hmm

Enjoy your holiday @MrsJonesAndMe!

fallfallfall · 19/07/2020 23:26

mrsjones mrjones went shopping for himself obviously ;).
i bought two huge bags of cherries...not tiny UK portion sizes NOOOO huge north american sized bags and i'm half way through one...
i did my 42 minute bike ride and did so using less of the power assist, so a good 280+ calorie burn based on my heart rate (in 29C weather).
Youngest ds checked in ;), were planning on visiting oldest ds very soon but have not heard from the UK arm of the family.

fallfallfall · 19/07/2020 23:33

i'm being a ditz!! it's MR RUBY who went shopping for himself :(.

Foreverlexicon · 20/07/2020 05:07

My day went a little wrong yesterday. Work was ok, then went for a long walk with my sister. This resulted in a late lunch and then I just had a snack for dinner but basically didn’t stop.

Just worked it out on MFP and had just over 2000 calories so a maintenance day which isn’t too bad really. But in future I need to deal with that scenario a bit better.

Another little early shift today then will do a Jillian Michaels and ride the horse.

fallfallfall · 20/07/2020 06:19

That doesn’t sound too bad at all! Have a decent day at work forever

SunshineCake · 20/07/2020 07:14

Morning all

Had a bad dream, woke up in pain and the scales say I'm up 3lbs so today feels like it will be hard emotionally.

*@fallfallfall your squash and chilli meal sounds lovely and I might do a mince dish tomorrow now. I'm making roast dinner pie for today's meal for dh and the kids.

*@RubySlippers77 today is my running day but I'm not going. Dh has pointed out I might not be able to run at all if I don't rest my hip and it has hurt for 12 days now. I'm convinced from stupid stretches I did and not the running as I built up slowly. My back is sore too. I still need to walk the dog and I was planning on walking to the co-op so I'm not sure if I will achieve anything by still walking lots. My hip was okay on the bike but I just wish my brain would work to tell me what to do. DH also said he missed a day and ran on the third and did better than when he went every or every other day.

Mr Ruby can't complain about weight gain if he is making bad choices with no good onesSad.

*@Foreverlexicon I don't think you went wrong as you know what you want to do a bit better next time and that is still a win. It is great to hear work went okay.

OP posts:
SunshineCake · 20/07/2020 07:19

I mean achieve enough rest for my hip to heal.

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 21/07/2020 00:04

I would think it prudent to heal up for a few days. You might be surprised how much water your muscles are retaining due to inflammation.
I can understand the desire to see the scales drop especially with the dedication you’ve put into the running. But a rest might be what your body needs.

Foreverlexicon · 21/07/2020 06:23

If you don’t test it, you may end up out of it longer. I know it’s frustrating though - I get it with my ankles sometimes.

I had a better day yesterday. Had a bit of a tearful moment in the afternoon and then decided to make a list of the positives. I have a lot to be grateful for. I did my mini early shift, went and spent a fortune in decathlon on hiking and exercise clothes (I’ve been exercising regularly for 5 months now which is the longest I’ve ever kept it up for and I hope it’s going to stick when I’m back full tome!). Came home and did a JM killer abs dvd. Actually finding level 1 on most dvds is too easy now which is bizarre. Then had lunch, rode the horse and came home.

Last night was the first night in months where I felt physically sleepy by 10pmish which was a fantastic feeling as I struggle with insomnia which has been very bad over the last few months and I had a great nights sleep!

B - weetabix with dried fruit and berries
L - cheese topped bap with chicken and spinach, crisps and berries
D - turkey meatloaf, broccoli, carrots and potato
S - chocolate
E - 30 min abs workout and rode horse

Today I’m on a late shift so working 2-6. Plan to go for a run in a minute and will ride before work.
