Apologies for the terrible title but I wanted to encapsulate the boss and how supportive everyone is.

mrsjones have you considered making your own breakfast bars?
DH has taken the vehicle in for maintenance, I’m going to try and skip breakfast (extending my fast).

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/07/2020 08:08

I make my own granola, but there's only so much time and energy, so I buy them! Have you got a recipe to try? My tummy's rumbling @fallfallfall Blush

I use the NHS website @SunshineCake but guess in theory all the charts are the same. Hope you have a good day.

Off to meet a friend so the children can socialise a bit too.

Galvantula · 12/07/2020 09:08

I just checked my BMI as I hadn't for a while. I am nearer the top of the healthy weight range for my height, but it's quite a big range i guess.

I always wondered where i got my weight target that I put into My Fitness Pal about 6 years ago - turns out it's about the middle of my healthy weight range. I clearly forgot that I chose it for that reason...

I also did the body fat% check on my scales. I'm sure it's not terribly accurate, but there is a bit of an upwards trend this year when my eating better went out the window (again). On it's way back down now I hope!

I am wondering if being on the ADHD medication will help me stick with it better and maybe avoid some of the impulsive comfort eating spirals. I do feel like I do well for a while then something throws me off.

SunshineCake · 12/07/2020 15:12

Hi everyone

DH has found comments saying the Samsung health app in my phone is known for being quite wildly different to the others so it looks like I might not have run 5-6km when I thought I had Sad but I am now as I'm using Map my Run. Today I was slower than usual but I ran 5.2km. I was tired from a lot of walking and a 2k run yesterday but I went at five to seven and did it. DH says I have to decide whether I want to run a set distance or a set time but I want to increase my distance as well as time I can run.

I am still having hip pain but I will try and run in Tuesday and then weigh on Wednesday and hope I'm at least the same if not down. I really hope I'm down.

I'm still really tired. Made a picnic buffet lunch and dinner is an easy roast chicken, baked mini potatoes and wraps. I've made raspberry and strawberry muffins with GF and DF ingredients so I can have some.

Hope everyone has the lovely sun I have and you are all well.

Hi everyone
I’m back from my trip and feel fabulous. I have to admit I went a bit off piste Friday and Saturday. Nothing dreadful but enjoyed lunch out whilst hiking (AMAZING scones and ice cream) and a couple of ciders in the evenings instead did the gin I planned but I’m fine with it. No binging just because I was away and I’m straight back on it today. Life is too short to not make the most of Lola food when you’re away! We also walked some 35 miles in total - I hit 37,000 steps on Friday and 33,000 yesterday! So we will see what the scales show on Tuesday but I don’t regret anything and have discovered I really really like hiking so we’re already planning another trip for our anniversary in August.

SunshineCake · 12/07/2020 19:12

That is wonderful, *@Foreverlexicon. All of it Smile.

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 12/07/2020 19:58

Fingers crossed for you @Galvantula I have no excuse apart from being greedy really!

Oh that's frustrating @SunshineCake But the main thing is you're doing it and I'm sure you'll continue to increase distance and time.

Sounds amazing and how many steps @Foreverlexicon - you can't have gained even with scones and ice cream!

I've had a weird day. Did my lower back in hoovering the stairs, so DH did the rest and the ironing and BBQ silver lining

B: hot choc and brownie Blush
L: carrot and corriander soup and sourdough
S: 2 mini falafels & pop corn
D: hallumi & bacon on BBQ - won't ever bother with hallumi again, coleslaw, potato salad and green salad
S: coconut macaroon

Very sugary day. Blush
Did a 15 minute lower back stretch and just taken some ibuprofen. Not looking forward to tomorrow. Going to hurt!

Sleep well all and catch up then.

RubySlippers77 · 12/07/2020 23:01

Oh what a shame about your back @MrsJonesAndMe, hope it's feeling better soon! I have a WW recipe for fruity flapjack if you'd like it?

Wow, your running is going amazingly well @SunshineCake Grin how are you feeling now? I did w5r1 yesterday, but not sure if I'll be able to run much over the summer holidays, I don't think I'll have any child free days at all and DP will be changing jobs soon too, which will affect his hours. I definitely run quicker and longer when I don't have DS1 with me but if taking him is the only way I can get out...!

I'm so pleased you had a fantastic time @Foreverlexicon and your step count is awesome!! Hiking is a great hobby to get into, and very sociable too (more so in normal times, but even virtually for now).

Has anyone seen 'How to lose weight well' on Channel 4? They test lots of different diets to see what works/ is doable long term. Quite shocking to see how much weight people can lose in a week if they are very strict!

fallfallfall · 13/07/2020 00:51

i would love to see that, hopefully i can find that on youtube, thanks ruby for that.
forever!!! oh my :) amazing walking numbers. well done for sure. sounds like a great mini vacation.
well done sunshine on the running, it will make a difference. stay positive.
i'm sorry to hear about the back mrsjones, maybe it won't be so bad tomorrow...well i hope it isn't.
galvantula, my dream is to inch closer to that normal bmi :).

SunshineCake · 13/07/2020 07:05

Hope you wake up with a better back, *@MrsJonesAndMe. Maybe it is best if your DH does the hoovering from now on Wink.

*@RubySlippers77, I have woken up with a sore throat and upset tummy but my hip feels a bit better. I feel a bit tearful but don't really know why. I'm looking forward to going running tomorrow. I just don't know what I should aim for. A faster 5K or a longer amount of time running?? I will try and go on the exercise bike today as dh has said I shouldn't run every day yet and my push bike needs some work.

Maybe you could run very early before the children wake? DH prefers to run in the evening but I can imagine you are too tired to go then after a day wrangling children!

I have to take DS2 to school and then I'll walk my dog and then drop her home before doing an errand. Then I must remember to pick DS2 up!

Thank you *@fallfallfall. I am positive and really hopeful that Wednesday will be a good weigh in day.

Have a good day everyone.

RubySlippers77 · 13/07/2020 10:58

Blimey @SunshineCake, you are having a busy old day!! I'm off to collect the DC from school soon and have just had a long conversation with an adviser about tax efficiency for DP's estate. What an exciting life I lead!

My gym trainer used to tell me that faster running was better for weight loss (in the same way that HIIT is good for it) - so better to really push yourself for a minute, take it easy, push yourself again etc than plod along at the same speed. However, if distance motivates you more then it's obviously whatever works best for you Grin at least you are getting out there, enjoying it and getting fitter, which is the main thing.

This is the link for the programme @fallfallfall, hopefully you can access it via the Channel 4 website? www.channel4.com/programmes/how-to-lose-weight-well

I ate very late last night as DS2 would NOT go to sleep. I'm blaming that late meal for me only losing half a pound at today's weigh in, not exactly spectacular for a week's efforts Hmm

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/07/2020 12:46

Well I've gained my 2lbs back according to the scales today Hmm

DH does his share around the house and thankfully back is mostly fine so far. In a right grump as is DS so really just want to down in chocolate but trying to resist.

I'd go for doing the 5K faster too, but again... do what you think is best. There is a table with guide times for each age group and gender somewhere online if you google.

Catch up with you all later.

Galvantula · 13/07/2020 14:41

In still hovering at the same for the last couple of weeks, but at least it's not going up.

Hope you're feeling better soon @SunshineCake and your back is getting better @MrsJonesAndMe. I'm on a day off work today.

Have parked kids in front of a Disney movie just to try and get stuff done. (Clearly that's why I'm on here 😂) They were playing nicely but so noisily this morning and it was frying my brain.

fallfallfall · 13/07/2020 16:43

All’s well here. Totally content with a solid 1lb down so far this month. Should I be able to keep doing what I’m doing I’m aiming for 3lbs down. But that’s aiming high, I presume 2 is much more likely as I know this old body doesn’t give up its secrets easily.
Averaging about 100 minutes of dedicated exercise a day, not quite 2 hours. Plus reasonable food choices...no chocolate but not no sugar.

SunshineCake · 13/07/2020 18:06

Hi *@RubySlippers77, well my day turned out busier than I planned but I am pleased with what I have done. DH has just gone for a run. I suggested he run my route and see what happened but he said he will once he is back into it more. Tomorrow I will do the warm up walk then start off as normal and try and speed up for a bit. Normally the middle km is my quickest but I was a lot slower on Sunday and the middle was the slowest. I am worried if I go too fast I won't be able to finish the run as I will be annoyed if I don't make the 5K total Hmm.

Shame about the 2lbs *@MrsJonesAndMe but you can get that off. Have a little chocolate today then tomorrow start again. Maybe make a fruit salad or a veg salad bowl to snack on for emergencies. I think hard our trouble is how easy it is just to eat chocolate as all we have to do is open the packet..

I will weigh in Wednesday as haven't been in the scales since Friday and by Wednesday I will have run twice more, plus walked several miles on Saturday plus did a 2k run and today I walked with the dog for an hour and half and I have been on my feet all day cleaning out one of our downstairs rooms.

I think we are all doing well and mostly feeling good emotionally.

@BustedDreams @TheRealHousewife hello!!

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 13/07/2020 23:18

You've done brilliantly with fitting everything in @SunshineCake! Love your DH's excuse for not running your route Grin

What a pain about the 2lb @MrsJonesAndMe, it does seem to get harder the closer you get to target. I hope you manage to shed those pesky pounds again soon!

Well done on your weight loss @fallfallfall and great job with the exercise Star

Hope you had a productive (Disney-assisted!) morning @Galvantula! And sending good wishes to @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

SunshineCake · 14/07/2020 06:19

To be fair to him @RubySlippers77 he did bash his knee quite badly and was very ill in February, plus hasn't run much but I won't be letting him off the hook too much and his monitor said his run was very good yesterday.

I'll get up soon to run. If I don't report back, send help!!

OP posts:
Foreverlexicon · 14/07/2020 10:55

Not weighing today as had a typical mopey post seeing gf binge day yesterday and I’m very bloated.

HOWEVER she decided yesterday from 10th August she is going to start spending 50% of her time at mine and the other half in Cornwall for various reasons. Which means this shitty long distance thing is essentially over. I’m thrilled; I’ve found this very difficult and this seems like a perfect compromise as I can easily deal with not seeing her for a few days but she can still support her dad and from her commitment phobe side of things, it’s not as full on as moving in full time yet.

I also have a new goal as my friend has had to the go ahead for her wedding in Greece in September so I need to step it up to be at goal by then as I’m a bridesmaid and my dress is super clingy.

I havnt had time to catch up with everyone else so I hope you’ve all had a good day and you have another today.

SunshineCake · 14/07/2020 11:58

That sounds wonderful @Foreverlexicon. I remember when dh and I were first together it took ages to get to each other as we didn't drive then and some days we would only see each other at weekends and that felt too long at times. It is a good compromise as she can take care of her father and her relationship.

Re weighing
Me getting home from my run. All happy as ran further in less time than Sunday. Realised I could weigh as I won't run again before the official weigh day tomorrow. I'm telling myself it doesn't matter if I haven't lost anything. I get on the scales and they are saying 1.6lb up on Friday and suddenly I am saying it does matter. I got in the shower in a sulk and I will pretend that didn't happen and try again tomorrow Grin. I ran 5.3 k and then walked the dog for two hours so surely something has burnt off???. Plus I didn't stop yesterday and I am about to give the lounge and good clean and tidy now.

New recipes for dinner, kidney bean paella.

Good day everyone Smile.

That’s lovely news forever, the 50/50 and the clingy bridesmaid event. I love love love weddings.
The scales move so very very s l o w l y

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/07/2020 22:02

Hi all

Just heading for bed but thought I'd check in.

Weigh the same time of the day (morning here) Bit down again this morning, but who knows. Stuck to 8hrs but not great eating and did a Leslie video walk this PM @fallfallfall Smile

Wonderful news @Foreverlexicon

Uhm, recipe please @RubySlippers77 sorry, meant to say yes please the other day.

Right, brain fried, hoping tomorrow a bit quieter!

SunshineCake · 15/07/2020 08:17

Morning all

Can't promise anything good. I'm really upset that I am up 1.6lb since Friday after three runs, four long walks, three very long, and pretty good food choices. It has to be the intolerance issue. I'm going to have to go hard core. And live on salad Sad. Even having lost three inches off my tummy isn't making me feel better as I just feel yuk today from eating whatever it was my body didn't like.

Hope everyone else is well.

OP posts:
Foreverlexicon · 15/07/2020 08:50

Oh @SunshineCake that sounds so difficult. Remember all that exercise is doing you the world of good regardless of what the scales say.

I am grumpy. I’m struggling to get back on track and feeling very fed up with dieting when I’m just losing and regaining the same weight. I weighed and I’m back up to where I was about a month ago. Sigh. I’m feeling very burnt out with dieting but I don’t want to give up either, not with the wedding coming up.

I’m about to dust myself off and do a Jillian Michaels and later taking the horse to do some training so I’m out and about and busy today which will help.

SunshineCake · 15/07/2020 11:19

It is so unfair as it took a long time to work out what was wrong, and cost a lot of money, and while I am happy I am only not allowed ten things when I started at 30, it is difficult things to avoid.

I am going to be strict now as I don't want to feel like this again.

I hear you about the same weight as I think I am on my fifth attempt at losing the same half a stone. Thank goodness I have kept off the 1.5 stone of the two I initially lost when I couldn't eat anything.

Running is helping my lungs as my peak flow test was slightly better but scales are psychological aren't they? It is all very well feeling happy my new clothes are a 12 and I no longer look nine months pregnant plus I can run for over thirty minutes but I want those numbers lower .

Enjoy your horse ride. And accept what has gone and tell yourself you can do this and you will.
