Apologies for the terrible title but I wanted to encapsulate the boss and how supportive everyone is.

I had salad, avocado and tinned anchovies did lunch then half a packet of crisps. Couldn't settle and was feeling upset so I took the dog for a walk to cheer me up. She was being a pickle and did didn't work but we were out for 1 hour 40 though my app said I only actually walked for 32 minutes which I know is wrong as it is half an hour to the field then I walked around it a couple of times plus home. I've eaten four home made chocolates and I am having crackers and houmous for dinner as dh having left overs and the kids having their stuff and I can't be bothered to cook for me.

Booked in my therapy for next week so hopefully that will go well.

Tomorrow I will run and hopefully that will go okay too.

Actual footage of me away to try and lose the same weight I lost with you guys last year . 🙄 (My last 12 months on MFP in the pic)

If I look at the graph from the start though, I'm trying to feel good about keeping the other 15kg off that I lost in 2015/2016 😅😅

@SunshineCake do you weigh at the same time of day each time? I'm still quite strict at always doing it in the morning, just after I've been to the toilet 😂 I find it fluctuates massively through the day (as well as the week/month), so I'm optimistic that it helps show the pattern of loss/gain if I do it that way.

Scales showed a huge 0.2kg down this week, but I was up 0.2 last week. Oh well.

Been eating better the last week or so, we'll see how it goes when I'm on holiday for 2 weeks...

3 inches off is loads though @SunshineCake! (I knew I forgot to say something)

SunshineCake · 15/07/2020 19:17

God, none of my posts make sense. So many mistakes and I'm blaming the iPad.

I weigh after I've been to the loo, sometimes 2-3 times and never until after at least one bowel movement. Today I went 2 or three times. Once I had excitement when after I went to the loo I was a pound lighter HmmGrin.

Oh well.

Sorry, @Galvantulai have not really answered you. My brain switches off sometimes and I can't think.

The other day I posted how over a set time I had gone up five times and down six so did lose over all. I'm still down on when I started running but I am sick of the same half a stone going on and off and on..

I don’t know any answers to the weight loss gain loss conundrum.
I just know for me I need to keep on trying. I look at my graph regularly, it helps jog the memory but I too spend a lot of effort loosing the same weight.

I weigh in after my morning piddle, usually after 8am. Simply having wet hair from a shower or a glass of water skews the result.

SunshineCake · 15/07/2020 21:51

I take my hair bulldog clip out first Hmm

fallfallfall · 15/07/2020 22:40

Oh sunshine, your certainly trying to get the scales to cooperate.

RubySlippers77 · 15/07/2020 23:39

Flapjacks recipe @MrsJonesAndMe:

100g butter/ margarine/ low fat spread
4 tablespoons golden syrup
250g porridge oats
1 apple (grated)
50g dried fruit: apricots/ dates/ similar cut into small pieces
50g sultanas
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice

Melt the spread in a saucepan, stir in the syrup and oats. Add the apple, dried fruit, sultanas and mixed spice. Beat the egg and add that too. Stir it all well, put it into a tin and bake at 180 for about 20 minutes - makes about 16 squares and keeps for a few days Smile

Wonderful news about your gf @Foreverlexicon. And a bridesmaid's dress is definitely a good incentive!!

Sorry to hear you are disillusioned @SunshineCake - the weight loss programme has an episode about weight fluctuation if you're interested (series 3 episode 2) and it's also been useful (if sometimes depressing!) to see that some of the people taking part haven't lost much weight, but they have lost inches. Sadly I need to lose both Hmm I've watched quite a few of these episodes now with loads of different diets and what's struck me is... they will all work to some extent as long as you actually stick to them!! I have no idea why it's taken me 30 years of dieting to actually notice this Grin of course there is some variation depending on how much you enjoy a diet/ find it doable/ plan to follow it long or short term - but at least it helped me refuse a piece of cake today...

RubySlippers77 · 15/07/2020 23:43

Oh and good news about your peak flow rate @SunshineCake! I'm on week 5 now, my last run was 8 mins run/ 5 mins walk/ 8 mins run - but the next one is supposed to be 20 mins running Shock Shock - I'm not sure I can do that yet, might repeat the last one instead!

The DC finish school on Friday, I've worked out that it's 50 days from tomorrow until they go back so have set myself a 50 days of exercise challenge; I want to do something challenging every day, not just reach my 10K but do a run/ swim/ HIIT workout, something like that. Hopefully that will help with my aim to have lost a stone by September, I'm only 1.5lb down at the moment, 12.5 to go...

fallfallfall · 16/07/2020 00:56

well done ruby on keeping up with all the reading...my downfall when the thread moves fast.

fallfallfall · 16/07/2020 01:03

ruby I registered using my dd and her partners address...looks like an interesting watch.
A heck of a lot better than the currants I’m dealing with.

fallfallfall · 16/07/2020 02:23

They figured out I’m not in the UK 😔, so no tv show for me.

SunshineCake · 16/07/2020 07:01

*@RubySlippers77 it does seem like a big jump from 8 to 20 minutes but if I can do it then so can you.

I'm getting up now to go and run but I am going to the loo again and then another jump on the scales so we will see. At the moment at least I am still 3.4 lbs down since I started running on May 9th.

Morning all

It certainly an be a up and down journey. Well done on the inches @SunshineCake and I'm glad you can get back to therapy now too.

50 days @RubySlippers77 argh! Both children have start dates now at least!

Oh that's a bummer @fallfallfall

Tired here and a long day ahead. Ready for the holiday to start - roll on 5:30!

SunshineCake · 16/07/2020 07:10

I've just realised I should weigh after my run so we'll see....

Off in five.

Foreverlexicon · 16/07/2020 08:17

Seems many of us are in the same boat. We just need to keep plugging on and we’ll get there eventually.
I had a better day yesterday. Took the horse out training and did a Jillian Michaels workout.

B - toast with jam and peanut butter
L - small wrap with chicken, cheese and spinach. Dried soya broad beans and an apple.
D - Indian mince with rice and green beans
S - chocolate
E - Jillian Michaels and riding

Today I’m going for a run, tackling the next big DIY job (painting whites in the bedroom; ceiling, wardrobes, door, skirting boards and radiators) and riding the horse. Oh and possibly meeting a friend for a walk.

Galvantula · 16/07/2020 08:23

Sounds like a busy day @Foreverlexicon!

Home you had a good run @SunshineCake 🏃‍♀️

Breakfast - the cereal that was substituted in the click and collect order, that no one else wants. 😂 Yum!

Scales showing down 0.5kg today. Shock It's a bit annoying that I can see that only 2 weeks or so of concentrating on eating better starts to make a difference. But in the same 2 weeks I could put on 6 times as much quite easily!

In the middle of TOM as well, so taking this as a small win.

Galvantula · 16/07/2020 09:05

Hmm that was just supposed to be a little runner, not sure where the ♀️ came from!?

SunshineCake · 16/07/2020 11:06

Well now I'm confused.

I ran 5.63k in 44 min 28 seconds. I know I was slower today but I ran further than on Tuesday and my hip was sore and for some of the run I just couldn't get into a good rhythm.

I weighed myself once home and I was 2 lbs lighted than before I ran?!?!? How?!?!

It is 0.4lb lower than Friday which fits with the runs and extra walking I have done so I'll take it but no clue why so different than an hour before.

I've walked about an hour and twenty with the dog so I'll sleep well tonight.

I see the runner!

fallfallfall · 16/07/2020 16:15

sunshine you weigh less because you exhale water. Water is very heavy.
Have you ever camped in a tent or small trailer or even noticed bedroom windows in the winter, the moisture we breath out can be noticed on the walls and windows.
If you want accuracy weigh in the am after you piddle, not mid day, not after coffee and a poop.

SunshineCake · 16/07/2020 19:32

My dd said it was water weight but I didn't get it.

I feel like I could have lost half a pound since Friday but not two since this morning.

I weigh after I've finished going to the loo. Sometimes I go two to three times before I've even got dressed.

I'm taking the lower weight as a boost and I have also been thinking about only weighing after every three runs which makes it once a week which is healthy. I'm just worried I'll put loads on over the 6/7 days and then I'm fed up again.

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 16/07/2020 23:18

@SunshineCake, from what I've read it is indeed water loss that affects your weight... it's what bodybuilders do (in a much more extreme form!) to lose weight/ make their muscles stand out, drink loads of water then stop and dehydrate themselves. If you Google 'Hugh Jackman Wolverine water' or similar it will explain it better (and as a bonus you get to see some pictures of Hugh Jackman Grin)

Regardless, well done on your running and weight loss!! I couldn't make it to 20 minutes as my knee hurt too much Sad but I did 8 minutes running/ 5 walk/ 8 run again. I might try and increase that to 10 mins run/ 3 mins walk/ 8 mins run next time, gradually build it up.

What a shame about the programme @fallfallfall! I'm finding it really interesting, however, it's shown me even more that there's no magic wand when it comes to weight loss... just stick to a diet, plod on day by day and add some exercise if you can. Sigh. I was really hoping for something more exciting!

fallfallfall · 16/07/2020 23:27

ruby I think there’s something that science hasn’t picked up on, it’s out there but unknown to us at this point.
