Moving down in May

So here's the new thread for tomorrow, excuse the boring title. Unless a miracle happens by tomorrow, I will be starting the month heavier than I started April. Weigh 9st1.5. Aiming for 8st13. Hopefully things might start to change in May. even if its only slightly, which will lift our spirits.

Hi guys, sounds like everyone is doing well! I'm ok generally. Got my period this week and feeling a little drained..........always means my chocolate cravings are more intense than usual. I'm managing to do a few runs each week of around 4km, and yoga most days. Been quite slack with calorie counting on mfp, but eating less bread and smaller portions overall. Think I've lost around 3lb bad this is my fourth week of being on a plan. It's always slow for me. Thanks @MonsteraCheeseplant for that interesting article. What a fascinating job you have Smile

I've managed to come in at 1600 today.
Tomorrow I've got zoom work drinks. I'm planning for that to go to about 1700 and then back to being as good as I can before weigh in on Saturday.

Hi all. So good to read that so many of you are doing so well. It's crazy birthday week here and I'm off the rails, so I'll stay away until I'm not such a bad influence! Hope to be at least trying to get back on it on Friday or Saturday.

Take care.

@winterisstillcoming it's fine to have a bit of time off! Happy birthday to all X
I did a sneaky early weigh in and I've lost 3lb!! I'm very happy about that 😁 12lb loss so far.

Yay Iggle! Well done!

DH has hit a plateau after consistently losing twice the amount I have. Obviously I take no pleasure in that but do acknowledge that there is some justice in the world 😋 Nah, I just hope I lose again this week but am resolutely not weighing in until Saturday.

Well done Iggle that's fab. Winter that made me laugh, I would think the same.9st1.75 for me this morning, just about managing to keep some sense of control. Did Joe Wickes (hee hee) and a long walk yesterday), but ate a 100g aero bar (538) cals Cooke a nice dinner out of the £1 meals cookbook, 5% been mince with potato, curry powder, onions and frozen peas. Probably ate a bit too much of it unsurprisingly. Also had a can of Strongbow Dark Fruit with my DH, getting to the point of being sick of thinking I shouldn't have a drink in cases it makes me hungry. Have a feeling that this could be a maintenance month at best but things could change. Just had my cereal bar for breakfast.

Happily the scales are still the right side of the stone barrier I broke out of. Not really losing this week but relieved it’s not just bouncing back up.

Step 1 for me was to manage to stop piling weight on which I had been doing. Going over 15st was such a shock. Even pregnancy only got me to 12st odd and I lost that pretty quickly.

I had bowel surgery last year and my GP keeps mentioning gut bacteria imbalance as a cause of rapid weight gain. I’ve ordered some ACV and will look into other probiotics options.

Congrats on loss iggle. Was it at least a mint aero octopus?

I am chuffed I am 5ft 2 and was about 10 stone 9 I wouldn’t look at scales properly but was defo no less .

Now after 10 days of exercise and cutting calories I am 10a Stone 5.5lb (66kg ) whooo feeling good

How do I stop feeling hungry some days I am hungry 😋 I feel these are related.

I do a 30 mins exercise you tube team body project video every day and then 30 mins of weights and floor work .

It’s working I can feel the difference already. I need something that can maintain though luckily I am Pesci and eat a healthy diet but it’s mad when you log in onto MFP and realised how many calories are in what you eat

Typical I have weetabix breakfast 1 biscuit skimmed milk and a cuppa

Lunch can consist of seed loaf with vegan butter I enjoy very much !

Tea could be salmon , spinach and Asparagus ( eat salmon once’s a week ) then I’ll hVe Tinned Tuna another day plain with jacket and salad .

For snacks I have fruit or celery sticks . Low calorie crisp or a fruit bar

No chocolate .

I think I may need to eat bigger portions because I am used to eating smaller portions but filling up on crap I think !

Today I had 638 calories remaining Hmm

Henrieta - my opinion would be more protein - you don't seem to be getting much. Eg. eggs instead of carbs for breakfast and some kind of protein with your bread at lunchtime. Supposedly protein fills you up for longer. Shouldn't you be having rest days to recover rather than doing weights everyday? I seem to remember getting that lecture from others when I was doing resistance training.

Well done on your loss

You say you had more than 600 calories remaining. What was your total caloric intake or deficit?

Henrietta, sounds as if you are doing great, that's a fantastic loss. Re protein (haven't eaten any during lockdown), I swear by almonds, a handful (7) is 49 calories. You've reminded me to buy some next time I go shopping. HoneyBadger, it was a plain chocolate aero, very delicious and quite a lot of chocolate for the calories. Struggling a bit here, don't feel bigger, but I'm 9st2, I know I could be eating less and overall I don't think I'm going mad but it's just such a struggle at the moment. I'm hoping exercise rules might be restricted soon so I can get my steps up. May be due for another period, but knowing my stupid body who knows. Happy VE Day all.

I am in the worst mood today - simmering angry and yesterday I was depressed and mopey. I was also starving hungry and food obsessed despite having the same meal routine that I have most weeks. So i'm guessing we're in PMS land. Fun.

Monster I think I'm entering that zone. Couldn't sleep last night and ended up eating biscuits in a half awake way. Scales haven't been too punishing as a result but need some better days. Aiming to fast again on Sunday.

Hi Henrietta,
I reckon eating more protein and fiber would help with hunger. My most satisfying meals come in with about 1/3 protein 1/3 fat and 1/3 carbs on mfp. So something like a serving bowl full of various salad items and a piece of salmon or a chicken breast with a really nice dressing or a fry up with toms, mushrooms, bacon, spinach small bit of toast, or a kebab with all the veg and no bread, naked burrito that sort of thing.
Well done on your loss!!
@MonsteraCheeseplant sorry to hear you are feeling awful. It's this situation it's dreadful and boring and irritating and horrifying and all the other shitey adjectives on rotation. Hope you find something good to make you feel better. X

I'm pressure washing the side passage to the house/garden. It feels constructive yet destructive which seems to be hitting the spot Grin Poor DH is having to hold his tongue and put up with me though.

I don’t really understand what I am suppose to do I just know I’ve always had calories left at end of day to try and bump up what exercise I have done lol

Report
Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 08/05/2020 17:01

@Henrieta2 I suppose just stick with the calorie limit it gives you and see if that works? I don't usually 'spend' my exercise calories, but then Im not really getting much proper exercise in during lockdown because swimming is what I'd choose to do.
Today's food.
B. Bacon, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes toast, coffee (420)
L. Cheese twist, bit of spanakopita, tomatoes, moche ice cream, tiny bit of cake (500)
D. Curry
I'll be going well over on calories, but the curry need using up, and I'm hungry.

The lesson here I suppose is I need careful planning when it comes to the day after a drinking session

MonsteraCheeseplant · 08/05/2020 17:11

Ok, yeah generally don't eat your exercise calories because MFP (and the others) overestimate them. Within sensible limits of course, if you run a marathon you'll need more than 1200 calories etc

Ok, I slashed my tyres yesterday, ate:
1 cereal bar
Quite a lot of Bombay mix
A small piece of chocolate cake
A few Sensations Thai Chilli crisps
Half a can of Strongbow
A pitta bread with chips, salad and humus

How much weight would you expect me to have gained this morning, 1 pound, 2 at the most. No, I'm 4 pounds heavier, this week in all I have now gained 5 pounds. I was greedy yesterday, I failed, like everyone else here I'm depressed, stressed, fed up, worried etc which in my case leads to a tendency to over eat. That said, I don't believe that I ate 14,000 extra calories yesterday. So now 9st6, have half a stone to lose in the remainder of May to make my target.

I agree Octopus, you won't have gained 4/5 pounds of fat in that time. It'll be stress, water, etc. Hold on tight, don't lose hope or you won't get to see that it's temporary.

So frustrating though.

I too, am a bit frustrated. I have stayed the same this week despite staying within my calorie goal pretty much all week. It was only yesterday that I had over 1200 and even then I only had 1342 so hardly went for it.

Last weekend I ate fish and chips. Although I had fewer calories the rest of the day to account for it and stayed under maintenance calories, i'm wondering if this is jeopardising weight loss for me. Or, maybe it's just that i'm near my target and already within healthy weight so weight loss is going to be slow.
Super frustrating (word of the day).
