Moving down in May

Octopus37 · 30/04/2020 07:56

So here's the new thread for tomorrow, excuse the boring title. Unless a miracle happens by tomorrow, I will be starting the month heavier than I started April. Weigh 9st1.5. Aiming for 8st13. Hopefully things might start to change in May. even if its only slightly, which will lift our spirits.

June is indeed another month Octopus - we've got to see that allusive 8 stone something sooner or later! Grin Maybe June will be the month...

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/05/2020 14:27

Hello again ladies. I hope we are all well. I'm not getting my take away treat this spend as am having my arm twisted into solidarity with DH who is being even more strict than I.👎 Still it's for the best I suppose! Though I am sad about not having fish and chips.

B: Yoghurt
L: chicken noodle soup
D: cheesy pasta bake
S: pineapple jelly, planning a doughnut and kinder bueno stick later. Or my low cal ice cream.

Did you know that mars ice creams are only 150 cals? Waitrose have been sold out for weeks cos they've got them on offer but I genuinely asked them when their next delivery is and am going first thing on Saturday to stock up! They're probably the best ice creams imo.

EndlessUserName · 29/05/2020 14:29

Today's menu

B - too stressed. Skipped.
L - barley risotto leftover from yesterday
D - will be Indian takeaway, can't bloody wait!
S - making some oat muffins now, I hope they're nice! Low fat etc. Also had some of the kids crackers. Still well within my calories for the day

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/05/2020 14:37

ooh oat muffins, please report back on those!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/05/2020 14:38

Sorry to hear you're so stressed though Sad Have you got anything nice planned for the weekend that might help? Time in the garden or something? x

Hangoverstruggles · 29/05/2020 22:45

Evening all,

Hope you enjoyed your takeaway Stop. What did you have?

I've been picking all day, meals not filling enough at all but busy day meant not great food planning

B coffee (roughly do 16:8 so don't eat until midday)
L chicken, new potatoes and greens
D porridge with berries, almonds, and yogurt
S haribo, rice cakes, packet of crisps, banana smoothie, satsuma, 1 fish finger, tiny slither of pizza, 1 scoop of ice cream

Stuck to 1200 but feel hungry now. Tomorrow will plan more filling meals, and less snacking!!

sparklyglitterball · 30/05/2020 07:47

Morning all! Great to hear all of your fantastic progress, very inspiring. I've shifted another 1lb this week. It's very slow, but feel like it's taken me ages to get into new habits and for my appetite to adjust. @stopfundinghate thanks for your tip on weighing carbs. We have our set of digital kitchen scales out on the worktop too, so have started weighing things this week. 100g of pasta doesn't look like much!! But actually with plenty of homemade tomato pasta sauce and some cheese it was plenty Smile I'm really starting to think about how much extra I've been eating that's just not necessary. What are all your weekend plans? We're going for some mice walks and doing gardening/stuff around the house. DH has suggested takeaway tonight which sounds lovely, but I'm a little nervous of undoing my good work!

Octopus37 · 30/05/2020 08:35

Well done Sparkly. Hope you are ok Stopfunding. Had a very stressful day with our house move yesterday, exchange didn't happen for various reasons. Trying to switch off about it at the weekend. Off to do some of my merchandising work that has come back now, so that will be distracting. 9st.1.75 today. I know I need to crack on more in June but theres so much going on, one day at a time. Hope everyone enjoys the lovely weather.

EndlessUserName · 30/05/2020 09:37

Think I've said this before @octopus but maintaining like you are is a amazing in itself, you are doing so well Star hope you manage to relax this weekend

Curry was poppadoms, channa bunah side, chilli chicken main (very tomato and spice based) plain rice and garlic naan - DP and I share all of that. It's so nice :)

Re: weighing pasta. I know 100g doesn't look like much does it! I think 125g of cooked pasta is technically the correct portion size but as I want to lose weight and I was so used to 125 I lowered it and can't say I've noticed any difference in how satisfied I am - like you said lots of lovely tomato based sauce and some parmesan and it's great!

Oat muffins was a SW recipe Blush but they were actually nice and sweet and stopped me raiding the kids snacks so that's all good crumbscorkscrews.com/baked-oatmeal-raspberry/ I didn't have chocolate so I put some dried banana in instead for sweetness.

Disclaimer - I'm still determined not to be a SW cult zombie so I only buy full fat yogurt and am still eating what I normally do, just checking it against syns instead, it's basically calorie counting but without having to count everything.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 30/05/2020 10:47

Morning all, I fell seriously off the wagon yesterday. Realistically I'll not get back on til Sunday. I've decided it's fine... I'm in this for the long haul and I need the odd treat day/ slip up to make life fun. Also I was starving! I had a friend round to sit in the garden (I know not meant to until Monday) and we had a few beers and snacks and it was so so nice. She lives in a shared house so has been locked down with people, but not friends and I've missed her.
Well done on your lb @sparklyglitterball
Hope your house finally exchanges @Octopus37, it must be so stressful - hope the new one is lovely, maybe with a giant garden and a pool Wink (My other phone habit is looking at very expensive houses on Zoopla)
Have a lovely weekend all x

Hangoverstruggles · 30/05/2020 12:55

@stop your takeaway sounds delicious!
@Octopus37 you're doing amazingly well to maintain, sound like you have a lot going on at the moment.
@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket it wouldn't be sustainable not to have treat days!

Im still trying to do 16:8 and was absolutely starving at midday. Like properly irritable and hangry! Just had 2 boiled eggs, buttered toast, another slice with marmalade, and a mango lassi and feel human again!

Having quorn Bolognese for dinner which is 550 so only 50 left for a snack if I'm going to stay on 1200 😫 think I'll end up going over today.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/05/2020 12:55

Ooh I’d kill for a pool right now! Glad you had a lovely day iggle definitely worth it sometimes.

I thought I did ok yesterday. Not fasting but didn’t eat a lot. Few glasses of wine but also went for a couple of walks, did a belly dancing class (video a friend posted) and according to my fit bit I used more calories than usual.

Scales are up to xst11 today though Confused

Must not despair or I will give up.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/05/2020 12:59

X posted hangover. Wonder if an extra egg might have made the difference? Eggs are great-filling tasty and low cal. Hope you can distract yourself till dinner. Keep busy and drink lots of water?

Hangoverstruggles · 30/05/2020 15:46

Well my period has arrived 4 days early so that explains the appetite and the moods! Immediately ate 4 marshmallows so will def go over now.

Going to go for damage limitation and allow myself 200 over today rather than a full fuck-it approach!

EndlessUserName · 30/05/2020 17:36

@Hangoverstruggles I love that damage limitation idea of allowing extra calories, I'll have to try that

Today's menu
B - yog and berries
L - fish fingers, 1 slice bread, loads of salad
S - more yog and berries!
D - "meatballs" made with chicken sausages and 100g spag

May have a couple of chocolates tonight, or maybe tomorrow, I have been super motivated this week and so have been under cals almost every day, and so have a lot of wriggle room this weekend to use on some treats which is a lovely change!

EndlessUserName · 30/05/2020 17:37

Tomorrow's menu

Probably....

B - french toast, berries and yogurt
L - don't know... Maybe soup or something
D - roast chicken dinner

MonsteraCheeseplant · 30/05/2020 21:13

Hello hello,

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I've been busy prettying up the garden.
B: Toast and honey
L: Soup
D: BBQ - Hot dog and honey mustard chicken
S: 1 Kinder bueno bar, low cal ice cream and so many strawberries with light squirty cream, I stopped logging tbh but I won't be over 1300 i don't think.

We went for our usual evening walk and it seems that my injury has finally healed so fingers crossed I can get back to adding in some sections of jogging.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/05/2020 22:02

That’ll explain it hangover! I’ve been emotional and craving crap food so checked where I am in my cycle but I’m just ovulating so can’t blame pmt.

Managed to get the cry I’ve been needing from watching Little Fires Everywhere. Could do with having a scheduled weekly weep I think.

Haven’t done great today food wise but have just been for a half hour walk to try and do what I can to remedy it. Will try to be active again tomorrow and do better with food.

Had that awful god I’m so fat and it’s never going to change and how can I ever go on holiday again blah blah self kicking earlier Sad

New day tomorrow

Hangoverstruggles · 30/05/2020 23:11

Sorry you're feeling so down on yourself, Badger. You are making progress. You can do this, and like you say, tomorrow is a new day.

I have a horrible migrainy headache, and craving salt so have eaten multiple crackers with salted butter. I have eaten way more than planned today but I'm ok with that.

Great news @MonsteraCheeseplant that your shins have recovered!

EndlessUserName · 31/05/2020 06:22

@TheHoneyBadger don't be too hard on yourself. We're all human and you've done so well to get this far. The tiny habits book I read was so interesting and it explained that if new habits don't stick, don't take it personally, and don't blame yourself, instead redesign the habit to make it work better for you. And then again if you still don't stick to it it's still not your fault! But you redesign the habit again. It's like a process of constant habit engineering, like a science and not personal at all, rather than you succeeding or failing. I don't think I've done the book justice but it was so interesting and helpful. I think the author BJ Fogg has a TED talk

Anyone sorry that was long! Good luck today everyone :)

Hangoverstruggles · 31/05/2020 09:16

I'm feeling positive today!

Weighed 10st 6 which is a 10lb loss since I started mid April. 3lb loss in May.

And completed my couch to 5k this morning!

Plan for today is to relax the calorie counting but try to stick to healthy nourishing foods as feeling a bit depleted.

Goals for June: to keep up the running 3 times a week, stick to 1200 cals 5 days a week. Aiming to lose another 3-4lb and then I'll be happy to maintain there.

Hope everyone has a good day today

Octopus37 · 31/05/2020 09:40

Wow Hangover, thats a fantastic loss in a month and a half. Badger, you are doing really well, one day at a time.
Unfortunately our new house doesn't have a swimming pool (boo hoo lol), but we will have more room, if it happens. The Estate Agents phoned me yesterday and said that our buyer isn't happy but isn't going to pull out. Hopefully Monday but all depends on some paperwork being signed which hasn't been (this is our seller). 9st1 this morning, off to start a new thread for June.

EndlessUserName · 31/05/2020 11:00

@Hangoverstruggles congratulations that's fantastic!! I love your attitude to weight loss too :)

@Octopus37 fingers crossed for you for tomorrow

Mimilondon39 · 31/05/2020 12:33

I have fallen off the wagon too - beers last night in the garden but you know what it’s fine - we will all get there and it doesn’t really matter how long it takes. I’ll be back on it tomorrow - good luck all!

TheHoneyBadger · 31/05/2020 13:33

Thanks for encouragement.

Today I’ve been determined to keep active. Been for a couple of walks in the sunshine already and intend to do at least 2 more. Maybe it’s because of my size and fitness but I’m surprised at how much a 20 minute walk gets my heart rate up and burns calories.

Found a pair of shorts that fit me so I can work on my luminescently pale legs at the same time.

Just water and black coffee so far today as I ate quite late last night. Going to have some vegetable soup when I get hungry
