So here's the new thread for tomorrow, excuse the boring title. Unless a miracle happens by tomorrow, I will be starting the month heavier than I started April. Weigh 9st1.5. Aiming for 8st13. Hopefully things might start to change in May. even if its only slightly, which will lift our spirits.

Hello!
I've just been catching up with the thread. I had an incredibly stressful week at work last week (not in comparison to medical people, but for me) and in combination with a period and the rest of the way things are, I've just found it really hard to do basic things. So, I'm up a couple of pounds, but not back to the beginning and I'm going to get going again.
Reading through it looks like a few of us have been finding things hard - sorry to hear it.
Well done porpoises on your loss! & Everyone else who is managing to still loose weight x

Porpoises · 03/05/2020 12:04

Thanks iggle! Sorry to those of you having a tough time. We all gain a bit at times, we're still better off overall than if we weren't doing this.

Goals for this month:

  • some form of at-least-slightly-out-of-breath exercise each day
  • keep up with the gardening
  • aim to stay at 70kg or lower, and be more toned
Polkadotties · 03/05/2020 15:00

Off to a good start, 3lbs lost so far

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 03/05/2020 23:34

Good day today.
B. Coffee
L. Salad with hummus
D. Sticky ginger chicken rice & green beans
S. Apple, ovaltine, coffee, tea

My aim this month is for a loss every week and to get down to a stone less than I was at the beginning of march.
Also to get going with yoga again (rather than gin as a stress relief)

TheHoundsofLove · 04/05/2020 07:51

Hi to everyone!
Well, I've weighed myself this morning and am 9st7 which is 5lbs up from my lowest point! Although my measurements are exactly the same so I don't think it's proper weight gain...Confused I do keep trying to remind myself of that Jordan Syatt video about fluctuating weights and how it's not a linear process... But, still - not good!!!
So, I'm kicking off the week with a fast day today.
My revised aim for May is to get back down to 9st2. 8 stone something will take a minor miracle But, most importantly, I just want to get myself back in the zone!
How is everyone else getting on?

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 08:35

Hounds, yes Jordan is quite wise on this. Individual weigh ins aren't what it is all about but overall trends. Do you use an app to track overall trends? Might be reassuring to see.

I am glad I decided to weigh myself no more than once a week because what I could weigh after takeaway Saturday scares me. I have not done the exercise I had hoped to do. We have been for a walk most nights which is better than nothing but is no cardio.

I must be the last person in the world to watch Gossip Girl but hey, am on it now and thinking I need a personal shopper (and boat loads of cash). They dress so well. I swear all the shops I browse love their high neck lines and unfitted clothes. Not great for larger chests.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 08:38

If I lose 5lbs this month i'll be happy. If I lose 7lbs i'd be over the moon. But I hear that when you're near your target, in a healthy BMI then it's slower progress so my other goal is to try not to get disheartened and slash my tyres (as people on these threads tend to say and I don't really understand Grin).

Octopus37 · 04/05/2020 09:04

Yesterdays food - 1 cereal bar
Bowl of fruit crumble
Salmon fillet with potatos, asparagus and carrots
Weighed 9st1 this morning. Hounds, know what you mean about getting back in the zone, that's what I'm really trying to do at the moment.

Morning everyone

I have made some meal plans and I have decided I am going to make an actual timetable for myself. I am working from home and homeschooling a very reluctant teen (I have to be with him for hours while he does the work) I have also got an essay deadline this week .
I need to feel organised or I am going to get too stressed and when I get stressed I reach for the snacks.

I also have to fit in some exercise as well !

If anyone has any funny podcast recommendations that would be great. I find when I go on a walk it really helps keep me sane to listen to something funny.

Sorry that was all a bit waffly Grin but I am on it today,

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 09:41

I don't listen to a lot of podcasts these days (no commute!) And crime was usually my preferred genre, however I know that lots of people love "My dad wrote a porno", I also enjoyed "No Such Thing as a Fish" which is written by the researchers for QI.

twobambinos · 04/05/2020 10:26

Can i join here again.
Enough is enough I've finally decided.
Starting today Monday is a good day. I am going to be 9 something by the end of this month

TheHoundsofLove · 04/05/2020 10:34

Monstera I loved Gossip Girl! And developed a bit of an obsession with Chuck Bass - he's my not so secret crush! Ed Westwick definitely has 'something' about him and the character of Chuck is particularly hot! Grin
Twilbury I love a podcast but don't particularly listen to anything funny - I like true crime or fitness. I've done a bit of a timetable for myself too - I achieve more if I have some sort of structure to the day/week.
My son and I have been for a 5k jog this morning (son is 10 so it does tend to involve more messing about than actual running Grin ) and then we've done PE with Joe.

TheHoundsofLove · 04/05/2020 10:36

Welcome twobambinos ! Are you a Friday Night Dinner fan by any chance?

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 12:32

Hounds, I question your taste! Chuck seems to have a crick in his neck and something wrong with his eye as he can never look at people straight.

TheHoundsofLove · 04/05/2020 13:13

He also does some appalling things! Grin But he gets more and more appealing as the seasons progress... Honestly, I’ll be surprised if you don’t fancy the pants off him by the end... Grin

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 13:59

[Grin] I'll take your word for it but right now the girls are stealing the show (and I'm a straight adult who has just bought a Jacket because it looks like one Serena work)

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 14:30

Wore

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 04/05/2020 14:48

Hi guys!
I now want to try gossip girl.
Have you listened to any of Adam Buxton's podcasts? I love those.
Today's food plan.
B. Bacon tomatoes toast
L. Cheese & tomato sandwich, carrot, apple, bit of leftover chicken satay
(That's 840 Cal's so far)
D. Fajitas using lettuce rather than wraps

TheHoneyBadger · 04/05/2020 14:48

Hi. I too am obese. I had major surgery last summer and have somehow piled on nearly 4 stone since.

4 stone is the minimum I need to lose which sounds impossible. I guess small goals are needed.

Last week I had Sunday and Monday alcohol free and drank tonnes of water and only ate a small meal in the evenings so basically the 5:2 method. My weight dropped by 4lbs to 14st11-it of course bounced back up a bit.

Yesterday I did a 16 hour fast and ate in a small window in the evening and I’m fasting and drinking loads of water today. Currently 18.5hrs in. Will aim to eat under 500cals this evening.

For now just doing this weekly 2 days of fasting and seeing how that goes.

Can’t handle the idea of daily calorie counting yet and would rather just have 2 days of total self control if that can work.

Hope it’s ok to jump in? Pretty hard to be motivated in isolation

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 14:59

Course welcome Badger.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/05/2020 17:30

So food today:
B: Half a pot of Stracciatella Quark - Not disgusting at first bite but around the 3rd or 4th I didn't want anymore.
L: Chicken soup
D: Huevos Rotos - I am a BIG fan of these, dunno if the link to the recipe works there. It's quick and easy - microwave your chopped potatoes before frying them up.Filling and comfort foodie and way under 500 calories. Great quick dinner option. It was SO flavoursome last night that I felt that I need to tone it down a bit so I will reduce the amount of Chorizo and increase the potatoes. Oh and I added mushrooms 'cos I do that with everything. Is there a dish that adding mushrooms doesn't improve? And they're fuck all calories. Anyway, if anyone decides to make it, follow your instincts about how long to fry them for because my DH followed the instructions blindly and it did get rather blackened.

twobambinos · 04/05/2020 17:33

@TheHoundsofLove never heard of it.

It's so good to see everyone else food choices gives a bit of inspiration.
Weetabix with milk here.
And for lunch a small ham roll with apples.
Dinner is beef, carrots and green beans with baby potatoes.
Got a long walk in earlier so not too bad today so far. Blush

TheHoundsofLove · 04/05/2020 18:03

twobambinos The main character calls his 2 adult sons ‘bambinos’ ! 😂
Well, I’ve done my fast today. I don’t count the calories, just skip breakfast and lunch, so I’ve had curried fish soup and a paratha for my dinner. Having one good day under my belt has definitely given my motivation a boost!

TheHoneyBadger · 04/05/2020 18:20

Still fasting here. Will cave at 6.30 and that will be 22hrs. Craving a glass of wine currently though aware that would be pretty shite use of calories. Drinking is my downfall.

In the less than well stocked fridge there are chipolata sausages and 2 packs of bacon and eggs. Will have to start using them tomorrow or they'll go to waste. Will just try and go minimal carbs.

Bit of a mash up approach going on here. Mainly just trying to break the stalemate I was at with piling on weight despite not eating more and actually moving more and being a bit despairing. If a bit of fasting can continue seeing the scales moving in the right direction it's a good start.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 04/05/2020 19:50

Welcome @TheHoneyBadger I'm aiming for a total loss of about 30lbs so not far off what you're aiming for.
That recipe sounds good @MonsteraCheeseplant
I've stuck to my plan today and ending the day at about 1500 calories. Mfp says I can have 1700, but going under gives me a bit more leaway, so will prob stop here.
