Hi
Like lots of people I’m trying to get back to a healthy weight - spurred on by COVID19. My weight has been creeping up and I started lockdown at the heaviest I’ve ever been (annoyingly much of this was ‘new’ weight gain.)
I’ve lost about 7lbs since lockdown - (maybe more - I avoided weighing myself at the start) and have really stepped up my efforts in the last fortnight. I still have another 2 stone to go.
DH is overweight too and I’ve finally convinced him to shed some weight which is good. I’m hoping that together we can make a permanent changes.
Is there anyone else in a similar position who would like to join me for mutual support?
I’ve just started (as in today) doing 5:2. I’ve been counting calories and I am using my new exercise bike for about 40 mins a day.

Thanks. I will look for Sarah Beth. Is it suitable for a beginner?

I was a bit more motivated this afternoon than this morning and did 30 mins on the exercise bike. I’ll go out for a walk before dinner to try and get my steps up too.

In anticipation for Sunday weigh in I was out this morning at 6am(hoped to do it when no one was awake to see me) doing a veeery slow run 4.7 km. It was so hard but I'm going to try and go twice a week to get fitter.

dbonj · 15/05/2020 08:36

Hi can i join too?
Currently scared to get on The scales slipped two disc back in sept and led to serious mobility problems and put on a stone and a half dread to think now what iv put on as stayin in during this covid bored been over eating no clothes fit me and feel a disgusting tbh

Love51 · 15/05/2020 12:53

Not sure if the 7 days is ok for beginners. Adriene has a 30 days of yoga for beginners.

Well done @Newuser54321 Have you been running regularly or was that your first time after a break! Great distance if you are new!

@dbonj if you brave the scales you know it won't be so bad ever again! Do you have a recovery plan? It helps to commit, whether that is fasting, calorie counting or low carb. Also think about exercise. Anything that build muscle means you are burning more calories even at rest!

I was really struggling this morning. Years ago I was on mertazapine and ballooned, then tried to curb it. I found I could never get full. I feel like that now, except the reason I can never get full is that I'm not eating much! I'm ok right now, I've just finished lunch!

dbonj · 15/05/2020 13:55

I braved came in at 82.5kg managed to find a hoody that fit and jus been for a hour walk feel so much better except need to get a diet plan inn place because so far iv had biscuits for brekkie n nothin else Envy

Love51 · 15/05/2020 16:23

Well done @dbonj

Newuser54321 · 16/05/2020 08:58

👋 *@dbonj it's great to have a group to keep you going.

Hi * @Love51 I've had a big gap from running but I've always liked it, I'm feeling it today though, I need lots of stretching!! It's definitely something I want to keep doing more regularly.

Have a good day everyone

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 17/05/2020 13:53

Hi everyone! Checking in to say - by some miracle - I’ve lost 1lb this week and am now 11st 13lbs!

Now my scales are digital and don’t use decimal points, so it may in fact be 11st 13.9lbs - but I’m under 12 stone for the first time in ages Grin

I’ve completed week 3 of C25k and tomorrow will finish level 1 30 day shred (today is my rest day) It has been really hard work and I still have a lot to do re cutting down wine but I’m feeling positive!

Sounds like some good achievements by PPs. I’m really interested in yoga for some flexibility so I might look at Adrienne.

Hope all are having a good weekend

AnOrangeForAHead · 17/05/2020 14:41

Yay! Well done Alice. It’s so good to get into a lower stone bracket isn’t it.
I weighed in at 12st 9.5lb today. Going into the single figure pounds bracket made me happy too.
Well done for getting on the scales dbonj. I didn’t weigh myself for the first few weeks of dieting. It’s good to know your starting point though.

I hope you’re all having a good weekend. I’ve been fairly static today. I need to get up and do something!

Hey everyone I weighted in same as last week which considering my neck injury and period I am happy that I didn't put back on what I lost.

Neck is recovering now so I'm going to start exercising again and will hopefully have a loss for next week

Keep up the good work gals we'll all be in bikinis by summer GrinConfused

pitterpatterrain · 18/05/2020 07:24

Weighed in this week 1lb down - yay - glad to be seeing some downward movement after staying static or going up for a while

Love51 · 18/05/2020 07:57

12.7 today which is 2 lb down from last week. I had hoped for more to be honest, as I've been strict and hungry. Possibly feels worse than it is as I'm achey from weights yesterday.
I started Sarah beths 7 day yoga challenge this morning (it seems to run best starting on a Monday!) Not for beginners, more intermediate.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 18/05/2020 10:10

Ooh some more losses! Well done all

I’m determined to keep going with this. Since lockdown started I haven’t bought any new clothes (well, just some underwear) and I’m looking longingly at a couple of things in my wardrobe that are simply too tight to wear. I would love it if I could get back into them, save money and actually wear these clothes that suit me when I’m less fat*

*i nearly wrote “slimmer” but I am trying to be honest with myself. I need to be!

Love51 · 18/05/2020 11:24

Well done all of you! Keep on keeping on!

Weallhavevalidopinions · 18/05/2020 20:46

May I join? I realise several weeks after you started but oh my what a day...
I weighed myself today for the first time in months and I have put on over a stone since lock down. Today I am 12 stone 6 pounds and my BMI is 29.7 so obese and need to lose 2 stone to get to the top of the suggested weight range!

A shock - I was 11 5 only 8 weeks ago. I used to go to the gym 3 times a week and now just a daily walk and working from home. I am munching all the time throughout the day and evening. Sad and lonely and so eating all evening whilst watching tv... oh and moody too.

Anyway I will read through all threads for inspiration

Love51 · 20/05/2020 22:20

@Weallhavevalidopinions how is it going?
I've heard that if you put it on quickly it will come off quickly! I'm basically always hungry but I suppose it is unrealistic to expect to snack on biscuits and lose weight!

Jeds55 · 21/05/2020 07:18

I desperately need to join too. Daughter is over 2 and weight still on. Hate bumping into someone who hasn't seen me since pre-baby and imagining all they're thinking about how I've let myself go. Hate being this heavy myself, never recognize myself in pictures etc, stopped making an effort with nice clothes aa always told myself I wouldn't be this size for long so no point.
Will be happy with a 2 stone loss, taking me to 9st 7. I've already started and upped exercise, which I enjoy, just need to stick to the food. Weekends are my major downfall. Hope everyone has a good day.

Love51 · 22/05/2020 13:49

Constantly hungry. Saw my parents yesterday who could see I've lost weight (I had told my mum I was trying to though). Need some day by day motivation. Especially on Fridays as I'm not working.

Love51 · 22/05/2020 13:50

Good luck @Jeds55

Love51 · 23/05/2020 10:15

I ate 300 Cal's worth of biscuits yesterday afternoon after an hour long stressful phone call. Consoling myself that a pound is 3500 calories so it's only 1/11 or 1/12 of a pound! That's my only slip up in almost 3 weeks and moments after I realised I'd got my period! Gotta declare and move on.
300caks every month is less crap than I was eating every day or two previously.

Jeds55 · 23/05/2020 19:03

@Love51 thanks, already broken it this weekend (well since Thurs eve tbf) have done exercise so all not lost. That's a good way to think about the cals and also could have been way worse, a slip up once in 3 weeks is great achievement and great that you can put behind you and not binge for rest of day (as I would)

Love51 · 24/05/2020 08:52

Morning all! Those weighing on a Sunday, good luck!
I'm on 12.5 today, which is steady but not earth shattering. At my top weight, a few weeks into lockdown, I was finding my bras very uncomfortable round the back, and they fit a lot better now. I'm finding the accountability of this thread useful. I didn't write down all my calories this week, but I'm going to print off the NHS calorie recording sheet today so that I do it from tomorrow.

Let us know how it's going, even if it isn't going as well as expected. Let us know how you are doing it as well. Kudos to the fasters, I had to bring the evening meal forward yesterday as I was getting hangry. This resulted in both kids asking for supper, which they never do, as they were hungry again before bed! At least I was back to my non-hangry self.

bigfootfred · 25/05/2020 04:17

Hi everyone late post and still a maintain with no loss.
Going to have to mix up my food abit to get loosing again.
Hubby home from being away working so could be harder with him around!

Must do more exercise

Love51 · 25/05/2020 13:46

@bigfootfred my DH used to stay away a bit before CV, before that he used to work on Saturdays, so I feel your pain re that. Especially as I do a lentil bake which helps me not to binge bread which takes a while to do, and like to save it for my weekday lunches, and he eats it washed down with a load of calorific stuff! Can he not see that is magic weight loss food!
I find splitting stuff into 3 helps. Either thirds, one for me, 2 for him, or half for him, and I have a quarter tonight and half tomorrow lunch. Expect my precious lentl bake, he only gets 1/4 of that!
I don't think I've ever maintained a steady weight my whole life. Even when I was fit and skinny, muscle and fat went up and down.

Love51 · 25/05/2020 13:49

@AnOrangeForAHead how's it going? How are you finding the exercise bike?
I feel crap today so not even been for a walk. Might do a quick yoga shortly. Someone must have made a 'yoga for dizzy people' you tube!
