Hi
Like lots of people I’m trying to get back to a healthy weight - spurred on by COVID19. My weight has been creeping up and I started lockdown at the heaviest I’ve ever been (annoyingly much of this was ‘new’ weight gain.)
I’ve lost about 7lbs since lockdown - (maybe more - I avoided weighing myself at the start) and have really stepped up my efforts in the last fortnight. I still have another 2 stone to go.
DH is overweight too and I’ve finally convinced him to shed some weight which is good. I’m hoping that together we can make a permanent changes.
Is there anyone else in a similar position who would like to join me for mutual support?
I’ve just started (as in today) doing 5:2. I’ve been counting calories and I am using my new exercise bike for about 40 mins a day.

😟I'm so annoyed at myself. I've managed to put on 0.1kgs in my first week!!! Im going to be super strict next week and see if a week without treats gives me better progress.

TartanTed · 10/05/2020 08:25

Can I join please?! I’ve slowly put on weight over the past 5 years but it has definitely ramped up since lock down. I weighed 11st 13 this morning and a 2 stone loss would take me to my ideal weight. Good luck everyone.

Love51 · 10/05/2020 08:29

@Habibtihayati they were nice and not too calorific.
Weighed in this morning at 12.9 down from 13 stone oninday which was day 1 for me. I want to get to mid 10s but a good start. How's everyone else's weigh in?

bigfootfred · 10/05/2020 09:03

Morning everyone.

Weight this morning 89.3kg I am so chuffed that's 1.7kg off :)

I'm Grin I find loosing weight hard so I am happy with any off

Welldone everyone else and looking forward to cheering on your weigh in's today

pitterpatterrain · 10/05/2020 09:35

Can I join please? Weight has been going up over the years after DC and I have found myself in lockdown eating chocolate and ice cream non-stop

I want to lose 2st but even seeing some progress down would be good as it just seems to constantly creep up with my clothes getting tighter - even though I have started jogging again it’s gone up so need to think more about the food I am eating

Weighed in 12st 4 today

Love51 · 10/05/2020 10:06

Well done@bigfootfred.
I always find the first week the easiest, after that hunger sets in, so any advice welcome!

bigfootfred · 10/05/2020 10:39

Thanks @Love51 really hoping to keep loosing the same.

Just printed a nice photo of me in my slimmer days and to remind me :)

Love51 · 10/05/2020 11:05

@AnOrangeForAHead how are you doing? How's the cycling going? Apparently the government are now throwing money at improving cycle lanes so people can bike to work. I basically go across farms to get to work, so I'm not sure they'll do it for me!

AnOrangeForAHead · 10/05/2020 18:27

Hello everyone.
Well done Bigfoot and love for the losses. I’m 2lb down this week too which I’m chuffed about.
That’s annoying newuser, but scales can show different weights throughout the week so maybe you’re just unlucky to have weighed in on a ‘heavier’ day.
I’ve been sticking to using my exercise bike daily and my eating has been fine too. Think I need to cut down on the wine though. Maybe I’ll have a vodka and soda instead.
I was given a box of dark chocolate cherry liquors yesterday. I think they are 50 calories each. I think they’ll make good nightly treat. I agree with a pp that If I plan a treat in I’m a lot less likely to go overboard and binge o them.
Love51 do you cycle to work at the moment? I’m thinking of buying an electric bike to commute on. I know it’s not going to get me fit but I really don’t want to start my work day red and sweaty. I’m thinking I could use the electric assist mode on my way in but be less reliant on my way home to still get Some exercise benefit.

I don't cycle at the moment. I did when I was a lot younger and fitter and lived down south where they don't really have hills! I wouldn't mind cycling to work and back, but I work all over the city (that I commute to!) visiting different sites and carrying a load of stuff with me. But during lockdown I'm not doing that, so it might be possible. Also everyone is 2 metres away so lack of shower facilities less problematic!

Love51 · 10/05/2020 19:04

Congratulations on the loss @AnOrangeForAHead

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 11/05/2020 07:02

Morning all! Great to see some losses from PPs.

Last week I did well on exercise (C25k and 30 day shred), ok on food, and not good with wine. It being a long weekend didn’t help. I need more no-alcohol days this week.

Anyway, I have lost 1lb, so am now at 12st exactly. I’d love to lose another 1lb this week - and then stay in the 11s and never hit 12 again!

What are everyone’s plans fitness-wise? I’m carrying on with the workouts and running; it is awkward running on the footpaths though as I’m forever jinking round dog walkers and getting out of my stride. I could do with going earlier in the morning I think

Love51 · 11/05/2020 08:16

@AliceLutherNeeMorgan you can exercise as much as you want now! I'm trying to do some weights training as building muscle means that you are burning more calories, even at rest. But only about twice a week. Also it helps maintain bone density for when you get old. I'm usually a swimmer but I've really been enjoying the switch to land exercise. Except running, too sweaty, plus I was scared to get breathless at the start of the pandemic.

bigfootfred · 11/05/2020 08:26

Morning everyone

I've been doing live classes on Facebook which have been good except I stupidly did a weight based one and now the left shoulder and neck have seized Sad this is why I ended up partly putting on weight because my shoulders and neck get so sore and then I can't carry on it's very frustrating gojng to see if my foam roller will help today

Other than that just walking the dog I need to increase it but giving my body a chance to get used to movement again!

Newuser54321 · 11/05/2020 15:13

Great news on your weight losses @bigfootfred , @Love51* @AnOrangeForAHeadand @AliceLutherNeeMorgan 😊👍.

I'm hoping you are right @AnOrangeForAHead and there will be a big shift this Sunday, I'm not taking chances and I'm doing a bit of meal replacement plus moving more. Its really motivating hearing about the success other posters are having and encourages me not to throw in the towel. Have a good day everyone. 😊 *@bigfootfred** if the roller can't get to the sore areas of your neck a tennis ball is good to use to roll out muscles, standing against a wall with ball against shoulder helps increase pressure on the area, hope it feels better soon

bigfootfred · 11/05/2020 15:20

@newuser54321 oh yes thats a good idea I should have remembered that from when I had physio before

What exercise has everyone been doing?

Today I've had
B: shreddies and blueberries
L: salad wrap with tuna. banana, yoghurt

Planing hunters chicken with mash and veg for tea :)

Love51 · 11/05/2020 15:52

I've just hopped around the kitchen under instruction from a 6 year old. That counts, right? Raised heart rate!

muddledmidget · 12/05/2020 08:37

I'm glad everyone is losing, I wish I was! Have manages to gain 1/4lb this week, which I suppose is good that I'm not really going up anymore, but it's definitely not going down...

Plan for this week is to cut out the treats and try moving more. I'm finding it tough to motivate to exercise, usually I go to the gym and get a readout at the end that tells me how many calories I've burnt. I could go for a walk but all the paths are a bit narrow around here and people seem quite determined to jump in front of cars. Now we're allowed to drive unlimited distances for exercise I might drive out of town and take up c25k again.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 12/05/2020 10:48

Morning all. I had a really lethargic day yesterday so was glad to have an early night. I did manage to do 30 day shred; it’s level 1 workout 7, and some bits of it are getting a bit more palatable.

It is a slow old grind though! No idea when I’ll be back in my office but I need to make the most of at least having a bit of time saved from commuting, to get a routine that fits in exercise sorted out ...

Love51 · 14/05/2020 09:09

Is anyone needing a bit of motivation at the moment? I am! I've done day 29 of 30 days of yoga, not entirely sure I'll be able to keep up the daily yoga without a clear instruction on what to do next that doesn't involve thinking - I've got into a routine if doing whatever the next video is, rather than thinking too much about it, which had kept me exercising every day.
Also any meals that are high in vegetables, please share. I need a bit of variety.

bigfootfred · 14/05/2020 09:49

@love51 where did you watch the 30 days of yoga? Might help my neck.

I feel in a rut, PMT and sore neck meant I ate spoonfuls of Nutella! Blush

Once my neck is more moveable I plan to carry on exercising.

Eating not too bad enjoying my salad wraps or eggs for lunch and think i'll have a easy tea tonight jacket spud

Love51 · 14/05/2020 09:54

I did yoga with Adriene on YouTube. She has loads of 30 day sets, including a lockdown one she did in April. I did the sequence called 'Home'. She also has a beginner set. I'm going to try a bit of Sarah Beth next to mid it up a bit. She has a 7 day set but they are only 15 minutes.

AnOrangeForAHead · 14/05/2020 10:15

I’m needing motivation Love51!
I had a bad eating day on Tuesday (I at loads without needing too - although at least it was reasonably healthy. Too many carbs though for sure)
I managed to get through my fast day yesterday but I had to go to bed ridiculously early because I just wanted the day to end!
This morning is the first morning since I bought my exercise bike a month ago that I haven’t been on it. I’m just sat on the sofa replying to emails, drinking tea and vaguely threatening dd with home learning... I need a kick!
I keep on meaning to look at Adrienne. The 7 day set is probably more my level!
Hope you’re all doing ok today.

I ate loads on Tuesday too. Later realised I had done a weights workout in the morning, so that's why I was so hungry about 3pm and wanted to eat everything (I already had breakfast and lunch!) I ate a slice of ham, walnuts and cheese, then switched dinner from something fairly calorific to shakshuka, which is eggs and veg. Went a tiny bit over my calories, but was impressed not to eat biscuits! Also I calorie counter what I ate, I weighed the cheese, so there was nothing mindless about it!

Love51 · 14/05/2020 11:50

The seven days thing is Sarah Beth, so don't look for it on Adriene!
