Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

@beejit one 24 hour fast a week = built up to this over time, first delay breakfast, if you have early dinner at 5.30, you only need to get to 11am to have a good 17.5 hours under your belt - its much easier once you take the sugar/flour/carbs out so you just feel hungry but not despite -i find when i am high carb and hungry i get really hangry, but low carb, i can deal with it easily and just drink more water.

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 18/06/2020 13:38

Helllo all!

I have not weighed in this week. My nephews (3 and 8 months) were here because my brother in law isnt very well at all (not covid) and we offered to have them to give my sil a rest.

And jeez it was hard! Even with hubby to share the load. My son 2 and half and my 3 old nephew where a nightmare i felt like a referee all weekend! The 8 month old was lovely but woke up once in the night and 5am so i struggled i could nap when he napped like i did with my son and I was already tired from a long week at work and i just couldnt handle it.

So i lived on coffee, bread and biscuits 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ and rounded the weekend off with a mc donalds! Im pissed at myself but we were living by the hour! Plus side im no longer broody 😂 i enjoy sleeping again too much.

Next week is my birthday so im just being as good as i can but accepting i wont lose for the next couple of weeks.

Nixi4 · 18/06/2020 14:35

@HoldingForGeneralHugs give yourself a break! Focus on how you are going to have good habits on the days where you aren't being pulled in every direction, or when you are celebrating.. I've got a weekend away (hopefully) at the end of September with BFF.. so I've already told myself all of the lovely things I'm going to have but when I come back I will focus on being healthy.

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 20/06/2020 08:20

Thanks Nix that is a good way to think of it! I hope your weekend away in september happens!

Well done on your loss this week by the way!

Nackajory · 20/06/2020 08:29

Not rtft but just wanted to add that it's not the things we do occasionally that cause the problem, its our routines & habits. You're right, you need to move more and eat better but focus on what makes you feel energised, happy and well rather than punishing yourself. Your mind is your biggest ally or weapon. You can use it to help yourself or it will be your biggest obstacle. Pay attention to your thoughts and the way you feel. And read or listen to Real Magic by Wayne Dyer. Its not directly to do with dieting or exercise, its about spirituality and wellbeing. I guarantee it will help you but not in the way that you think. Good luck OP. Its time to change your life.

Nixi4 · 22/06/2020 23:03

2lb for me this week.. wanted another 4lb like last week but still happy 😊. Hope everyone else has had a good week

Splattherat · 22/06/2020 23:14

Watching with interest need a kick up the bum lockdown hasn’t been kind to me especially my midriff.

daisyhead08 · 23/06/2020 15:09

Nixi well done! Consistency is key and this is a marathon.

I'm despondent this week. My weigh in day is tomorrow and the scales have not budged, except to possibly give me back a pound. Has anyone any insight? I'm on week 8 of a 10 week programme and as part of that, have not gone over 1000 calories in nearly two weeks and not eaten starchy or sugary carbs. I'm telling myself that I lost 8 pounds in the 2 weeks prior to this but I still thought that I'd be down a bit.

Nixi4 · 23/06/2020 16:19

@daisyhead08.. I had one of those weeks a few weeks ago, really still don’t know why! Hormones, stress, carb level, water intake, time that you eat, exercise, salt ... all make a difference. I’ve put longer time between food. I average 18:6 now, and have done a few 24hour fasts 15:00-15:00 works best for me! Perseverance is key, you are doing the right things, but understand how disheartening it can be without the reward of the scales going down. Big hugs xxx

daisyhead08 · 24/06/2020 14:08

Thank you Nixi I can't understand it, I drank litres of water along with all of the strict food intake and exercise. I am determined not to give up though, I'm not putting this weight back on (this time Blush)

The scales said I was down a lonely pound this morning. Not my best week at all, but I'm taking the loss, dusting myself off and ploughing on.

Hi all - well done on the losses! Even maintaining is good (trying to convince myself SmileSmile). I've had a bit of a plateau too but finally a pound more off as I've kept plugging away. Hopefully it will catch up and there's a bigger loss for me next week.

Lost 30lbs in total now and finished 30 day shred. Have now started on power 90 which is a 90 day programme- def am fitter - I can run up the stairs without getting out of breath and have more energy even though baby is waking up at 5ish every morning. Still time to fit workout in with such an early start! Trying to see the exercise as not about weight loss but about health and toning. I can see a difference in the mirror - can fit in my sports bra again for one thing but my waist is back too, plus tightened my watch up.

Im really hoping this time is it for me. I've had 2 real attempts before and far too many attempts that were non starters and still never got to a goal weight or got my BMI under 25. I'm using those weights as goal markers at the moment.

Anyway what a waffle - stick with it everyone - we can do this

Nixi4 · 25/06/2020 21:38

Well done @Namechanger0800, great attitude and absolutely this journey has to be about being fitter, healthier and slimmer! I'm amazed at your 30 day shred accomplishment I've never been able to stick with Jillian! Even DH (who runs marathons and is a general fitness junkie) says its a tough workout!
Keep up the good work, and enjoy your baby as they don't stay little for long (mine are strapping men now).

Namechanger0800 · 28/06/2020 07:16

Thanks @Nixi4 - yes I am loving having a baby again. I have teens already and eldest nearly 18 so yes the time really flies! This baby was a surprise in my 40s so I'm absolutely committed to getting healthier for her. If I am going to be one of the oldest in the playground then I refuse to also be fat.

Jillian is tough .. it's like 20 mins of hell. Can't say I can do all the exercises on that programme properly and have to do the modification on some but still I am and can do it

Better week this week with a 2lb loss. I think the huge 4-5 lb weeks u get at the beginning are stopping now so I will take that 2lbs happily. Have eaten on plan and drank more water cause of the heat but trying to keep that up. Also did 6 days exercise on my new power 90 programme and am enjoying those workouts - they're slightly longer than Jillian but I prefer the exercises actually. I burn more calories also according to my Apple Watch.

How's everyone else? Is this thread getting abit quiet? Please keep going all!

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 29/06/2020 09:33

Hello im back!

Im not going to weigh this week as i basically threw myself off the wagon on my birthday week and i just dont want to know the damage i have done.
People got me chocolate as presents! But i have been good i have put them in a box in the back of my top cupboard so they are hard to get!
I have left over birthday cake my friend made me yesterday i am going to cut up and put in the freezer.

One interesting thing i have found, i weaned myself off of my sertraline a few weeks ago and the change i have noticed is scary! I feel full again where as before i could eat and eat and eat and never feel full. And i feel sick again when i eat too much which is a weird feeling. So i am hoping this will help me in my efforts!

How is everyone?

Nixi4 · 29/06/2020 12:35

@Namechanger0800 OMG assumed you were a youngster yourself with having a baby! My eldest is 22, my youngest is 12.. don't think I would have energy for another one! You are doing so well.

@HoldingForGeneralHugs welcome back! Hope birthday was great.

All, please keep on trying. If you have a bad week there is no need to give up.. declare it and move on.

-2.5lb for me this week, and it was time of the month so not unhappy!

-24.5lb so far!

daisyhead08 · 29/06/2020 13:28

I'm crawling back too. I lost the run of myself on Saturday and had lots of lovely drinks. I kept to my calories but I'm not hopeful for this week at all. I didn't go over calories yesterday either, despite feeling terrible.

fingers crossed.

Well done Nixi! 2.5 is a super loss.

Welcome back Holding and happy birthday.

Namechager well done to you too.

Lovely to see the thread busy!

Backtobackagain · 29/06/2020 17:14

Can I jump in? Got 6.5 stone to lose. Blush
Currently heavier than I was full term with my 10.4lb baby! I started on second nature before lockdown but failed completely at the start of lockdown when I started snacking and comfort eating my way through stress. My clothes feel tight and I know I can’t put this off any longer, I’m shocked out how big I’ve let myself get. Day 2 today, and really hoping this time if I publicly commit myself (albeit in a virtual sense) I will stick to it!

Nixi4 · 29/06/2020 18:37

@Backtobackagain welcome! Absolutely the more the merrier! We are all supporting each other in what will be quite a long journey.. I have another 5st to go.

@daisyhead08 hope you are feeling better!

daisyhead08 · 29/06/2020 18:53

Thanks Nixi I'm feeling much more human today and back on track. I hadn't had one deviation in nearly 9 weeks so I'm straight back on the wagon today.

Welcome Backtobackagain good to have you here. I have about 6/5.5 stone to go. You're in good company. I had my 10 lbs 7ozs 'baby' in July of 2013, so I can no longer refer to babyweight, but back in April I was heavier than at 11 days over on her.

I'm going to walk my legs until they can walk no more this evening and hope that it will help undo some damage.

Nixi4 · 29/06/2020 21:36

@daisyhead08 I think it's perfectly reasonable to have a day off after 9 weeks! It's what we do the day after that counts.. you've cracked back on and that shows your determination as we all know that one bad day can lead to many more

Nixi4 · 30/06/2020 22:11

Evening all!!! Hope you are all doing well, I've really been pushing myself with exercising over past few days and my gluts are killing me! Having a rather large bottom there is a lot of it to hurt Grin

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 30/06/2020 22:42

Thanks Nix and Daisy i had a birthday and was spoilt 😊

Hello Back and welcome!** Im the same as you i now weigh more than i did 2 weeks overdue with an 8 pounder!

I keep look at my double chin, it is annoying me alot. (Random i know its just pissing me off today!)

Auchy Nix! What exercises are you doing? I miss that after exercise pain feels like you achieved something! looks over at exercise bike that has not been used since its return from my dads in dec and is now covered in clothes...... one day it will get used again!)

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 30/06/2020 22:43

Oops bold fail 😳

daisyhead08 · 01/07/2020 14:44

How is everyone today? Our weather is miserable here and it's pouring rain. Not looking forward to walking this evening.

I was down 2 lbs this week. I actually can't believe after the total carnage of Saturday. I'm thrilled.

@daisyhead08 so pleased for you, that's a really good loss

@HoldingForGeneralHugs I'm hurting from walking miles and climbing steps / running up step (but short) hills! Pathetic really.. but much better than it was. Also I have upgraded my walking dog from bichon to one of our retrievers who is a bit of a puller so end up 'bracing' against the tug most of the time. I'm going to take a bag of snacks tonight and I hope she treats me more kindly!
