Modestandatinybitsexy · 29/04/2020 11:09

Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

Nixi keep going, I was like that last week and on previous tries would definitely have just given up and eaten the wrong foods. You know you're doing the right things, it will work, it will be worth it. Imagine how amazing you'll feel when the scales start moving again.

Namechanger how is your back? I hope you're feeling better and have had a chance to rest. I have injuries that never went from having SPD on my pregnancies and if it gets bad I have to rest. Mind yourself! 29 pounds is an amazing loss, well done.

I'm feeling surprisingly positive today. Part of the programme I'm doing is trying to tackle attitudes to food and why we overeat. I thought it might have been a load of nonsense at the start but I think it might be working. The guy running it keeps saying that it took however number of years to put this weight on, so losing it all in a matter of weeks is not going to happen, but we can make a huge difference in a relatively short space of time. I'm ok with that today. I'll probably be back to be insane with frustration tomorrow.

Nixi4 · 12/06/2020 16:26

Thanks all, I'm feeling much more positive today and I've really appreciated your encouragement. It's when it's tough that we can pull each other through.

I've just completed my first 24 hour fast, as following intermittent fasting & low carb.. so I have a real feeling of accomplishment. I've also downloaded the beginner shred.. can't face the thought of 30 day shred yet!

Namechanger0800 · 12/06/2020 19:36

@Nixi4 keep going - something will be happening! Have google about the 'whoosh' effect. Might be aload of bullshit but could explain? 24 hr fast is amazing. Bet that'll kickstart

@daisyhead08 haven't done my shred today. Back loads better but still a twinge so thought 3 days off would be better. Will do all next week and that's shred completed bar one day but will let myself off that. My plan next is to do power 90. I still dont enjoy but feel so much better in myself and can now run up the stairs without gettjg out of breath and things like that

buckeejit · 12/06/2020 22:53

Well done for sticking at it. It is frustrating when the scales don't move.

I'm intrigued by the 24hour fast & the whoosh thing so off to google those both.

I was knackered tonight as felt compelled to go to Ikea for some small things that I really wanted but they either couldn't deliver or couldn't deliver for 7 weeks. Was really torn about whether to go or not & had hardly eaten today so had pad Thai & tyrells crisps when I got home. I just hope that when I have a bad (Ish) day like today, I can pick myself up & get back on plan ASAP

Nixi4 · 15/06/2020 18:40

So this week I lost 4lb!! Most of that in the second half of the week following 24 hour fast.. 6 days of 3+ miles of walking and 7.5miles on my bike. If nothing else the goal of getting healthier is being accomplished.

daisyhead08 · 15/06/2020 19:24

An amazing result Nixi and well-deserved!!

buckeejit · 15/06/2020 20:49

Ah, great job @Nixi4 😁

Nixi4 · 16/06/2020 05:15

Thanks 😊... really pleased with myself! So different from last week.

Natashabobasha1 · 16/06/2020 05:24

Myfitness pal
Increase high volume green vegetables: salads, broccoli, spinach, zucchini and water
Cut sugar, fat and cream way down
Intermittent fasting
Watch my fitness blender on youtube for High intensity interval training. Do an hour of cardio every day and limit calories using myfitness pal.
I did this 2 years ago and lost 15 pounds in 3 months...

Namechanger0800 · 16/06/2020 06:21

Brilliant @Nixi4 and well deserved!. Bet your fast forced your body in the direction you want! Are you planning to keep the fasts in your routine?

I've lost 2 lbs this week - not as good as the mammoth 5 of last but still ok I thought given premenstrual although I have had a few meals where food has been ok but portion control went abit awry. Gonna be more focused this week

Angliski · 16/06/2020 08:41

Please can I join in here? Reading through all your posts From page 1 and excited to see how you are getting on (it’s like a gripping thriller) . I’m 5ft 2 and 15st. Breastfeeding / combo feeding five month old post Caesarian. Been struggling to keep weight level in lockdown and no loss yet. Did blood sugar a couple of years ago and felt really good on it so that is my basis as I have to low carb it to get anywhere. Would really like to get down to 10.5 stone at end of year to prepare for another fertility treatment and have another wonderful child of possible!

Nixi4 · 16/06/2020 08:50

@Namechanger0800 I’m totally hooked on fasting! 26 hours yesterday, which felt so good. I had gone on my walk before I broke my fast, and no issues. I’m trying to work out the best pattern for me at the moment.. I have been doing 15:00-15:00 for 24 hours which I think is relatively easy. Today I need to work until 18:00 (at the earliest) so will have to see how I go.

2lb is still really impressive after your big loss last week..

Nixi4 · 16/06/2020 08:52

@Angliski of course you are welcome to join in. Although as a mum of four (all c-section) you really need to give your body time to heal, and feed your baby! I would say nothing radical at this point, slow and steady.

Angliski · 16/06/2020 10:00

Thanks @Nixi4. Your posts remind me how much I also came to enjoy fasting.... surprisingly energising and great not to have to think about food - I didn't maintain after though.... do you have an 'exit strategy' in mind? A fast a day a week for forever is what Fung recommends i think...

Nixi4 · 16/06/2020 10:23

@Angliski I'm 6st heavier than I should be so exit is some way off! I'm realising finally that I need to change my behaviours for the rest of my life, I've been through 3 major weight loss episodes, each time loosing more 3st, 4st, 5st .. last major weight loss was in 2015/16 so you can see I'm great at putting weight on! I think it's a special skill I have. I've not included exercise before, and low carb/fasting may have to be a way of life.

JaneBofCartmel · 16/06/2020 10:28

I'd advise against seeking medical help. My friend is over 20 stone and has type 2 diabetes. Shes seen an NHS nutritionist but none of the diets they put her on worked but then the doctors just say that all they can do is advise and if she doesn't take the advice then there is not much they can do. What these doctors don't understand is that diets don't work for everyone.

Notglam · 16/06/2020 11:02

Hi everyone! I found this thread yesterday and it gave me a well needed kick up the arse. I read @FATEdestiny post and it really struck a cord with me. Usually by now I would have had breakfast then eaten more mindlessly while telling myself I’ll eat less later.

I’m 5’9 and 17st 9 so I’ve plenty of fat cells to keep me going Grin

I’ve woke up today ready to feel hunger for the first time in who knows how long. So far I’ve had a black coffee and water.

I’m excited to join you all. Well done with the losses so far!

@Angliski when you say a fast a week, do you mean a 24 hour fast or 16hour or what? I feel like I could achieve one a week but not really tried it before

daisyhead08 · 17/06/2020 10:40

Well done Namechanger that's 100 lbs in a year so not to be scoffed at and brilliant in the light of last week's 5.

Welcome to Angliski and Notglam it's lovely to see people joining. This thread is such a positive place and I'm finding it a huge help.

I had a good week this week. I'm hoping for another good loss next week.

W 1: 6.8
W 2: 3.2
W 3+4: 5
W 5: 1
W 6: 4
W 7: 4

Total loss: 24lbs

Nixi4 · 17/06/2020 12:32

Wow @daisyhead08 brilliant results! You must be proud of yourself?

@Notglam the point of low carb / fasting is that you don’t feel hungry or deprived. I would suggest low carb first then fast after a week or so.

TheStirrer · 17/06/2020 12:56

I really believe low carb is the way to go. Was nearly 22st in Jan 19 and lost 2 stone last year with a bit of cutting back.
I started low carb higher fat in Jan this year and have lost just over 4 stone so far. It’s been fairly easy - have increased my steps to 10-15k a day of moderate/ brisk walking. Eat 1750 cals a day and aim for 50-100g of carbs. No snacking / rice/ pasta / potato etc but for the first time ever I am not ravenous / thinking about food all the time. Fallen off the wagon a few times but picked myself up...

If weight loss stalls will look at intermittent fasting.....

I read the obesity code by Jason Fung - really struck a cord with me. Been overweight my whole life and got fatter with each diet. Feel like this may be something I can manage long term

daisyhead08 · 17/06/2020 14:28

Thanks Nixi I'm delighted.

TheStirrer I'm on very low carb at the moment, it is the only thing that has ever worked like this for me. I have done every single diet imaginable by now and would have done well to lose a pound a week on them.

BMI is now 34.2 and that feels like progress. I'm exactly 2 stone away from being in the overweight category and I'd love to be there by September but I realise that is a tough goal.

Notglam · 17/06/2020 16:14

Thank you @daisyhead08 Smile well done on your losses! It’s really motivating to to think in a few months time I could have similar.

Namechanger0800 · 17/06/2020 18:54

Welcome new people! Hope you stay and enjoy this thread! Great results again @daisyhead08 !

I have officially today lost more weight than my 7mth baby weighs Grin....given how blinkin heavy she is now, I can't believe I walked around with it on me! STill tons to go but being overweight and not obese is just an illusive 9lbs away.

Plus just 2 more days and I've completed 30 day shred

Feeling positive but still a long way to go.
