Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

I have been off plan badly this week.

Walked yesterday and today.

I haven't dared get on the scales even though I don't feel I have eaten a lot, it's been more wine and just not sticking to IF.

Back on from now.

Namechanger0800 · 19/09/2020 09:04

I weigh myself every week now - good week or bad. Even in the bad weeks I think I see the numbers creeping up and moderate more than if I didnt at all and then put on 2 stone in less than a year

I am 4lbs off having a weight beginning with 12. Only done that once before in my adult life post children and hit 12 stone 12 before piling it on. But I am still visibly overweight with same lumps and bumps...but then that number once stated with 17 so I've gotta have just shrunk but kept same shape ??? Do you have to get really slim to not have the lumpy bits

Nixi4 · 20/09/2020 07:52

@Namechanger0800 I think it's just time, and exercise before everything evens out.. I'm making sure that I moisturise every day as dreading my skin not adapting to my smaller size.

I'm currently putting weight on! No changes, I have a really horrible cold.. so wonder if that is the reason??!!!

So this week up 1lb so far! Still don't feel well enough to go out.. so very little exercise for me as well.

Namechanger0800 · 20/09/2020 08:31

Hi @Nixi4 - yes I've had that dreaded cold as well but that combined with not sleeping well again and my skin drying out forced me to eat the kind of food I don't want to eat when I don't feel well so the small bites of milk choc became choc bar became 2 chocolate bars and a new found love of kinder bueno which I have in the house for the kids! Now put a stop to it

My weight stagnated first a while and then it went up a pound, settled and then up another - so took action which was harder than getting started in the beginning!

I do need to get back to exercise - am back at work from maternity leave and husband not furloughed anymore so fitting in exercise is harder than it was - plus hurt my back so gave it a rest and then the dog hurt it's leg and we advised not to walk far at all for weeks - all excuses yes but a good reminder to start back with that

TheoneandObi · 20/09/2020 08:37

I think if you're coming on here to ask for support and motivation (you wanted a kick up the arse!) then a slimming group would be best for you. I know slimming world gets a bad rap from some but if you ignore their silly low syn bars then it's actually v sensible - low fat protein, low or no sugar, lots of veg and v filling. I never felt hungry on it and have largely maintained my loss of 2.5 stone. I also have a template to return to if I feel my weight creeping up.
The trick is to find a group and leader that you like. The first one I went to was cringey awful; the second was hilarious and the meetings were actually really fun

Winningatseesaw · 21/09/2020 04:18

I did not have a great weekend calories wise. A little wine and my resolve weakened. Had lots of sugar. Vowing to be perfect human until my weigh in on Friday!

Fitbeforeihit50 · 21/09/2020 12:00

Sounds familiar @Winningatseesaw! I have had several days like that last week.

WI today showed that to have had an effect yet again. For the last six weeks I seem to have played with the same few pounds, getting rid of them and then getting them back. Stuck in a bit of a rut...

Wk 0 - 118.5kg (18st 9lbs)
Wk 1 - 113.5kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 2 - 113.1kg (17st 11lbs)
Wk 3 - 113.6kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 4 - 111.5kg (17st 8lbs)
Wk 5 - 111.0kg (17st 7lbs)
Wk 6 - 109.5kg (17st 3.5lbs)
Wk 7 - 109.9kg (17st 4lbs)
Wk 8 - 109.6kg (17st 3.5lbs)
Wk 9 - 110.6kg (17st 6lbs)
Wk 10 - 109.3kg (17st 3lbs)
Wk 11 - 108.9kg (17st 2lbs)
Wk 12 - 109.8kg (17st 4lbs)

Winningatseesaw · 22/09/2020 07:08

It's so hard isn't it @fitbefore50? What do you think the main issue is?
You're doing amazing to maintain - at least your weight is not going up. Hopefully next week the scales will go down for you.

I'm definitely fearing weigh in on Friday. Does anyone find it matters what they use their calories on? My son wanted to bake brownies and I can't resist them unfortunately. I'm keeping under my allowance by having one per day but wondering if it's going to translate to a gain this week. Haven't done well with steps or water this week either!!!

Rebuildingconfidence · 22/09/2020 10:53

Another STS week - stuck at 103kgs

Zebracat · 22/09/2020 11:08

A tiny gain for me. 100.5 Kgs.
I have been really active with a big project in the garden and somehow biscuits are needed. But I am strong and my arms have gone from flab to muscle, so I’m not too worried.
I am concerned that insomnia is starting to play a part though. I do lose weight more easily when I sleep well, but I have some domestic issues that are causing me some concern atm. I tend to eat early and go to bed slightly hungry, but if I can’t sleep it’s always tea and toast with lashings of butter and honey...

Fitbeforeihit50 · 22/09/2020 15:18

@Winningatseesaw I think I just forget about it then fancy a snack. 16yo DS is not eating breakfast or lunch at the moment so I ended up buying loads of things to tempt him, unfortunately they have ended up tempting me.

When I forget about it all I drink loads of tea and snack lots. When I'm on the ball I drink squash and snack a lot less. I take two sugars in tea so cutting that down to 2/3 cups a day rather than my default of ten or so really does help!

Sounds like we're all having a little slump this week Sad, apart from @Zebracat who has muscly arms - go you!

At least we haven't given up altogether which is what has always led to the weight going back on in the past.

Good luck to us all this week!

Zebracat · 22/09/2020 17:21

Weird coincidence @Fitbeforeihit50. I have a 17 year old vomiting before school, and , no she’s definitely not pg. we’ve had lots of input from a dietitian in the past, but of course, signed off now. That’s what keeps me awake at night and is also why my house is full of snacks. Didn’t do any building today, lay on the sofa with digestives. Nice as a change, but it could be what got me into this mess.

Fitbeforeihit50 · 22/09/2020 17:29

@Zebracat I confess I think I saw you on the GCSE threads but I posted under another name there albeit irregularly. Teenagers cause me far more worry than they did as little kids, although to be fair it’s usually the other one that stresses me out more. Hope you and your DD manage to improve her eating issues Flowers

Zebracat · 22/09/2020 19:10

Don’t know why it helps to know there are others dealing with it, but it does!. I think if we can get a few weeks in without another COVID closure( already had one!), we may do ok. She’s better busy. I do wonder if there is some weird thing going round on social media, she’s suddenly very keen on red bell peppers and twiglets.

Winningatseesaw · 23/09/2020 04:04

Dealing with teenage problems fills me with dread. Sounds full on. I have no advice as my boy isn't even at school yet so only have small kid problems to deal with.

Definitely having a slump this week. However did measure around my tummy (I'm doing around belly button) and had lost 7cm! Haven't been planking everyday but am trying to do it more regularly and maybe it's working. Thanks for whoever recommended that.

Fitbeforeihit50 · 23/09/2020 07:13

7cm lost is great, well done!
Teenagers have different joys and different problems to little ones, for me the hardest thing is that you can’t just fix it like you usually can when they are little. I do miss toddler hugs but having a 6’ son give you a big hug is also lovely (if rare!!)

I think my problem is when I have a bad day I tell myself I deserve a drink/ biscuit/ pack of crisps etc. So yesterday I had a smear test which are always difficult for me and I find quite traumatic, so I deserved a few biscuits and a cup of tea when I came in then wine with dinner...

Zebracat · 23/09/2020 08:15

Smear tests are vile. Know I am probably very wrong but I agree you deserve a biscuit after that, and wine with dinner, just a glass.

Fitbeforeihit50 · 23/09/2020 08:19

It was just one glass, maybe a few biscuits. But at least I didn’t eat a big bar of chocolate, bag of crisps and then drink a bottle of wine! Which I might have done previously Blush

Winningatseesaw · 23/09/2020 12:06

You totally deserve a wine and a treat for doing your smear test! Well done you for only having one glass. My one glass always turns into two...plus mine are very good pours!

Fitbeforeihit50 · 23/09/2020 14:52

Haha, I drink prosecco and buy 187ml bottles as well as normal ones. It’s easier then to limit myself as I never want to open a second one!!

Winningatseesaw · 23/09/2020 23:44

That's a great tip 👍

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 24/09/2020 07:51

Following with interest. I dont believe diets are a long term answer. I'm 5 stone heavier than when I started my first diet 30 years ago. For me it has to be slow and something I can stick to for the rest of my life.

daisyhead08 · 24/09/2020 18:03

I'm back again! Delighted to see that the results are still fab. I have maintained a 30 lbs loss, so up 7lbs but I'd say most of that was the Last Supper I had last weekend as I knew this day was coming.

I'll read back over the thread tonight. My ten week programme #2 started yesterday, another 30 lbs would be just great!!

Winningatseesaw · 24/09/2020 23:12

At today's weigh in I lost another 1kg. Was a surprise but I've started to wonder if eating just that little bit more has helped me. Looking over my food diary, Saturday was awful but the other days my calorie intake would have been good (even if I had the odd biscuit here and there).

So today's numbers are
94.6kg - 14 st 13lbs (yay)
Total loss - 20kgs (yay) 3 stone 2lbs

Happy to be in the 14s for sure.

I looked back over my stats and realised it has taken 4 months to lose 10kgs. That seems like a long time.

The next few months is always a difficult time of year for me with lots of family birthdays and Xmas of course. I have to keep remembering that they are single days and one day shouldn't ruin a whole week! We shall see!

Next goal is 89.6kgs/25kgs loss.
