Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

@Zebracat @Rebuildingconfidence I'm of the opinion that we should be validating positives on this thread, and I personally make very little reference to when people comment on when they haven't been keeping to plan.. we all slip up, but when we have a long way to go the slip ups really can't be that often otherwise the numbers stay the same or start creeping up. I'm going to make a commitment to this group that I am reclaiming my accountability, and will be weighing more frequently to ensure that I stay on track. I will resume tracking everything I eat via my app..and then hopefully I will resume my 2lb per week losses. Stay with it, this isn't a sprint but a life change.. I was motivated primarily due to the risks of Covid, they haven't gone away and I don't know why all the other risks associated to being morbidly obese hadn't motivated me before.

Thank you @zebracat and @nixi4 !

I will definitely keep going.

I am doing 16/8 and I have stuck to it today. So after my self pitying post earlier I got on with it, did some conditioning exercises too, such a minor thing but I just keep thinking a) it's better than nothing and b) the little things add up over time (both negative and positive!)

I also booked a yoga class for next week as a tool to keep myself motivated.

16/8 works really well for me so I have to stick with it. It's a few hungry hours for a lot of health benefits.

Thanks for the positivity and support - we can keep this up!

I’m so glad. It is really hard with a busy life, but I have more energy when I am eating properly, and I keep busy so that my thoughts don’t turn to food. I have eaten properly today,Oats and fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch, and I feel great. Might have double portion of my hotpot again for dinner though. I can hold the plank for 30 seconds now and I have lost an inch off my waist.
I agree that we have to take responsibility for our own health, but we can also hold out a hand to each other along the way. I want to be encouraged by the successes of others, and to learn from their mistakes, not vice versa.

Nixi4 · 03/09/2020 18:09

I have a girls weekend booked at the end of this month at centre Parcs and was putting some activities into our schedule.. as spa is really restricted. For the first time in a long time, I was able to book segways & other activities.. they all have weight restrictions (18st) and previously I wouldn't have booked as I know I weighed too much!

I can't tell you how good it feels 😁.. also am pre-booking a time off from everything weekend and I won't be good! 🤣

Zebracat · 03/09/2020 19:33

Nixi4. I want one of those weekend too!

Rebuildingconfidence · 03/09/2020 21:50

@nixi4 that's great! You have reminded me that I would love to go horseriding once I get my weight down a bit.

Winningatseesaw · 04/09/2020 00:11

@nixi4 your weekend away sounds fab.

Lost 0.6kg (1lb) so happy with that.

Current weight 96.6kgs (15s 3)
Total loss 18 kgs (2s 11)

Edging ever closer to 3 stone loss and next stone bracket.

Winningatseesaw · 04/09/2020 00:30

My goal for this week is to drink more water. Definitely not drinking enough

Solina · 04/09/2020 06:58

I am still here. This week has not been as good as the first one as I have been so hungry all week for some reason. But I have mostly stuck to my calorie limit which is good.

Today I want to go for a long walk which is something we used to do a lot more but we havent for a while. Quite looking forward to it.

Nixi4 · 04/09/2020 07:56

@Solina please watch Jason yung on YouTube or read the obesity code.. they are life changers for me! Very rarely am I hungry, and yet I fast most days. Today I'm back on 24 hour fasts and I'm energetic and not hungry! Alternatively look at low carb as you don't suffer!

For me this shouldn't be about suffering as it will be really hard to maintain.

Fatandnearly50 · 04/09/2020 09:21

I'm still here too, although have been avoiding the thread as it's not going well. I feel quite despondent and need to get back on track but struggling.

A start is to admit to my WI on Monday, I suspect it will be worse next week...

Wk 0 - 118.5kg (18st 9lbs)
Wk 1 - 113.5kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 2 - 113.1kg (17st 11lbs)
Wk 3 - 113.6kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 4 - 111.5kg (17st 8lbs)
Wk 5 - 111.0kg (17st 7lbs)
Wk 6 - 109.5kg (17st 3.5lbs)
Wk 7 - 109.9kg (17st 4lbs)
Wk 8 - 109.6kg (17st 3.5lbs)
Wk 9 - 110.6kg (17st 6lbs)

Zebracat · 04/09/2020 11:23

Wow, so nice to hear from everyone.
@Fatandnearly50. I’ve just been looking at my progress and on 12th August, I was 100.5 kg, and on Tuesday I was 100.8 kg. But that doesn’t tell the whole story, because we aren’t numbers. I had loads of fun, saw family and friends I hadn’t seen for months, celebrated and commiserated, and I Don’t regret any of it.. I know it’s hard not to be impatient for change, but we aren’t in a race, we need to carefully unravel some of our old bad habits and put better Ones in place, and if one week the scales go up, maybe we need to think about what was going on that week, were we extra happy, or extra sad, were we busy, stressed or super relaxed? Were we quite well? Because our bodies need tenderness when we aren’t well. What gap was that food filling?
In 9 weeks you have lost over a stone. Please feel proud.
I really really want to be less than 100 k on nextTuesday, and maybe taking a bit longer to achieve that will mean I properly appreciate it, because I don’t ever want to go back to this weight. But if I don’t get there, I can look back at this week and see what could have been different.
We are here and we are working on it.Thats good.

Fatandnearly50 · 04/09/2020 12:00

Thanks @Zebracat, your post has really made a difference.

If I look back I have had one of the most emotionally difficult months of my life in August, I just couldn't focus on weight loss. But now I look back and think about it I am only 0.6kg heavier than I was at the start of the bad patch, so I really shouldn't be so harsh on myself. I didn't binge on chocolate and I didn't blow out and put the stone back on.

Whilst not perfect, things are a fair bit better and more settled now than they were a month ago and therefore I am in a better position and feel more motivated to get a grip of this thing again now.

Thank you again Smile

Fatandnearly50 · 04/09/2020 12:02

Actually, I can't count, I am 0.4kg lighter than at the start of the crap month so Go Me Grin

Rebuildingconfidence · 04/09/2020 12:49

Great posts.

It's so easy to get downhearted, I know I do. Haven't slept well the last three nights so struggling not to binge on crap.

I absolutely need to do this, we all do, and we are all trying.

Even if not losing lots, as long as we aren't gaining at the rate we used to (leading to our current sizes), then I think that is a win.

Better to be slow and steady and keep it off long term than big losses that then pile back on.

The 16/8 is working for me. I hope to be under 16 stone / 100kgs at my next weigh in (Tuesday). Ambitious, but that's the thought that will keep me on track.

Rebuildingconfidence · 04/09/2020 12:52

So when calculating losses let's also think about the weight we didn't gain, because that is important too.

Zebracat · 04/09/2020 18:08

I’m so pleased with us all. I’m learning how to have a good time in moderation, rebuilding is learning how t9 cope with a strenuous daily load without quick energy fixes/drains and @Fatandnearly50has lost weight through some really tough times. fat maybe we need to reframe you4 username too. Thin for fifty Sounds more hopeful!

Fitbeforeihit50 · 04/09/2020 19:45

Ok, on @Zebracat ‘s suggestion I have name changed! Thin was going too far though, I’ll never be thin (and don’t particularly want to be) but I would like to be fit and being a lot slimmer is part of that.

I have a couple of years before I hit 50 so it’s a realistic goal. With the support of you all, I and we can do it. It’s a long journey but we all know that.

Have a lovely weekend everyone Smile

Zebracat · 04/09/2020 20:25

Fits much better, .hate the sound of thin too. Thin hair, thin soup, thin clothes, bleurgh. Fit, on the other hand is definitely aspirational!

Rebuildingconfidence · 05/09/2020 14:01

Waist measurement check in:

26/08 114cm (44.8 inches)
31/08 110cm (43.3 inches)
05/09 108cm (42.5 inches)

Zebracat · 05/09/2020 21:05

Wow@Rebuildingconfidence. Way to go. Mine is 41 now. I never would have believed change could come this fast!

Rebuildingconfidence · 05/09/2020 22:59

That's so good @zebracat ! Thank you for the encouragement! We are doing well.

Winningatseesaw · 06/09/2020 13:33

Well done with all the planking results- super impressive!

Zebracat · 06/09/2020 16:01

I know, it does seem incredible. I don’t like it, and the only muscles I can feel afterwards are my biceps, but undeniably it is affecting my shape.

snappycamper · 06/09/2020 22:29

Bit late checking in, I missed last week. Glad to read everyone's updates. So motivational!

I'm finding that I undulate between being happy that I'm able to lose weight without it feeling like a diet or too much of a chore (doing 16:8), and thinking that I should be making more of an effort to lose faster as I have such a long way to go Hmm

Starting weight: 136.7kg
Week 1: 133.8kg
Week 2: 134.9kg
Week 3: 134.4kg
Week 4: 134.3kg
Week 6: 132.9kg
