Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

First week weigh in, I've lost 5.6lb.

Target for this week is 3.8 lb to take me into the next stone bracket 😀

Winningatseesaw · 03/08/2020 11:22

That's amazing @notapizzaeater! Well done

Fatandnearly50 · 03/08/2020 11:26

Thanks people Smile

@notapizzaeater - that's amazing, well done!!!

I WI'd in this morning and it is another half kilo off. Slow but steady now. I will need to kickstart at some stage again but for now, that's fine. MyFitnessPal congratulated me on 7.5kg lost Smile

It doesn't seem much but I need to remember it's 7 bags of sugar, that's loads really.

Wk 0 - 118.5kg (18st 9lbs)
Wk 1 - 113.5kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 2 - 113.1kg (17st 11lbs)
Wk 3 - 113.6kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 4 - 111.5kg (17st 8lbs)
Wk 5 - 111.0kg (17st 7lbs)

Well done @fatandnearly50 !

I will weigh in tmrw but I don't have high hopes.

I tell myself being this size is like having to carry around a large, heavy suitcase all day. It is bi wonder I get tired, hungry and grumpy!

What I am trying to change is to focus on boosting my energy levels through things other than food, so getting enough sleep, not running myself into the ground, drinking enough water, noticing my mood and practicing self care. I am off work until 25 august so I have an opportunity to do that.

Also, getting at ease with being hungry! Instead of panicking at the first pangs and gorging myself.

MutteringDarkly · 03/08/2020 14:29

4lbs off for the first week (I will enjoy this moment as I know a lot of that was water and you don't get that benefit in the following weeks!)

Have been reasonably active, with some long but fairly slow walks, one session on the exercise bike, and about an hour a day of gardening as I was helping out my parents with their garden.

Fatandnearly50 · 03/08/2020 17:42

Well done @MutteringDarkly!! That's a great start Smile

Waytoomuch82 · 03/08/2020 17:54

OP, how are you getting on?

Nixi4 · 03/08/2020 21:23

Evening everyone, some great progress this week! I'm super annoyed with myself, as managed to gain 2lb.. I know why, I won't dwell on it as it's not pretty 🤣 onwards and downward s from now on.. so having a week of speed Keto to hopefully give me a boost and aiming for 14k steps per day.. I've done so well to date, close to 3st gone so need to keep on!

Zebracat · 03/08/2020 22:50

Wow @Nixi4,14000 steps is so much. I’ve been following your progress with awe. No doubt this little blip will soon be sorted.

itistiime · 03/08/2020 23:24

Everyone is doing amazingly, I'm really (weirdly!) proud of you all.

I ran away for a while, I'm a northerner and the new lockdown caused stresses so I ate and I ate but because you are all so welcoming and encouraging, I'm back to start again

(Ps the green trainers are awful! They're going back Grin)

Zebracat · 04/08/2020 10:54

Well done for coming back@itistiime. I’m a midlander so feel your pain.. I gained 5 kilos during the first lockdown. Awful.

itistiime · 04/08/2020 10:57

Thanks Zebra Smile

Fatandnearly50 · 04/08/2020 11:04

That's a bummer @Nixi4, but you know why and that is the important thing. This is just a blip, you have done amazingly well, nearly three stone is massive, about 20 bags of sugar ShockShock, imagine carrying that round with you now??

Well done on coming back @itistiime, that's where most of us have gone wrong in the past, going off for some often valid reason but failing to get back on it again. Well done!

I'm off out for lunch shortly so will try and pick a sensible choice!

Shatteredconfidence · 04/08/2020 12:42

Weighed in just now and I seem to have lost a kilo which I am happy with.

14/07 - 108kg

21/07 - 106kg

28/07 - 107kg

4/08 - 105kg

daisyhead08 · 04/08/2020 13:37

Hello everyone,

I'm having a disaster!!! Went out on Wednesday with my friend. First time out since February. Drinks and dinner. Then it was DH's birthday on Thursday. I'm up a pound this morning and I woke with really bad dizziness. I had to get DH to take the day off work. I feel dreadful. I barely managed my walk last night so possibly should have known by that. I need a kick in the bum to stop me spiralling into food because I'm feeling sorry for myself.

Nixi4 · 04/08/2020 16:27

@daisyhead08 poor you! You've been tough for so long surely you aren't going to give in! I'm 2lb up this week.. but I'm determined that I won't spiral any further

EightToSixer · 04/08/2020 20:05

My first weigh in day isn’t until Thursday but I thought I’d check in on here. Great to see everyone’s progress and credit to everyone for sticking at it through hard times

I’ve just completed day 6 of keto. It is much easier than I thought it would be. I’m not hungry until about midday now so tend to Justin eat 2 meals a day. I’m counting carbs and calories on my fitness pal. We will see in 36 hours if it’s been successful at all. Fingers crossed

Namechanger0800 · 05/08/2020 16:30

Well done on all the losses and commiserations for any gains- a couple of pounds here and there is ok I think but the key is not to throw the towel In entirely. I'm very guilty of that- have a off weekend, gain and a few pounds and then my head seems to say wtf and before I know it 3 stone is back on. It's so silly isn't it - must not do that again (ever)

Smaller loss for me this week but due on and looking at my loss I always seem to plateau of lose slowly during this sort of time so I'm ok with that (for nowGrin).

More interestingly I had to have soMe blood work done last week to check my iron levels as was v depleted during pg and they finally agreed to do it (supposed to be 6 mths post partum) but due to Covid was delayed. Anyhow- good news is my iron is well within normal range now, but the GP commented on my other blood work being excellent 'all green', and apparently much improved from the last set I had in 2018- which was ok but some things on the borderline. Best one was my cholesterol level which apparently has gone from 5.8 to 3.9 which they were very pleased with. I'm over the moon with that - a google shows they want you under 5 but under 4 is even better - so my low carb & healthy fat diet has done a good job! GP was surprised as assumed I'd done a low fat, calorie counting weight loss thing but I eat quite a bit of oil cheese full fat dairy nuts etc. Def the motivation for me to keep it up as it's def improving my health given the blood results.

Fatandnearly50 · 05/08/2020 22:53

Wow that’s really good news re your bloods @Namechanger0800!

I suffer very badly with iron issues so fully understand. The cholesterol reading is amazing too!

EightToSixer · 06/08/2020 08:44

Today is my first weigh in after 7 days following keto. I’m down 12lbs!

Most of that will be water weight I’m sure but I’m so impressed. This is the first diet I’ve been on when I’ve not felt hungry.

Winningatseesaw · 06/08/2020 11:23

@EightToSixer that is amazing!!!! Well done you.

itistiime · 06/08/2020 14:05

Eightto and Namechange, that's amazing for both of you. What a reward!

Everyone, I'm really struggling. I'm binging on junk most of the day. I'm just writing it here so I don't run away and avoid it. I'm going to stop buying it but we bulk bought from amazon at the start of lockdown so I've literally got 100's bags of crisps around ....

Nixi4 · 06/08/2020 14:40

@Namechanger0800 you are going 100% right that's is what we do after a set back that decides our future. I'm really proud that I can dust myself off and start again.. that is the biggest change for me!

Well done all for all the good losses so far.

@itistiime there are always going to be temptations around us, you won't be able to live in a world where there aren't.. you really need to stay focused on your goals if you want to make change.

bitofawimpreally · 06/08/2020 16:31

Hello everyone, lovely to see so many people being so encouraging and supportive on here.

I'm in a similar position to a lot of you- weighing in at 117kg this morning, down from 119.4kg on Sunday.

I was 124kg in November last year and managed to get down to 110kg in March, then lockdown really disrupted my routine and I got lazy, stopped tracking food and didn't weigh in. Feeling cross with myself for undoing some of my hard work, but determined to get back on track.

I get stuck in a binge cycle where I overeat all the stuff I know I shouldn't have lots of, and do no exercise. Does anyone else put things in their mouth while telling themselves 'You shouldn't eat that...', or is it just me? :) @itistiime I really felt your last post. So hard when you have the food in the house!

When I'm on track, my methods seem to work for me. Simple breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs with a light Laughing Cow triangle, salad with a chicken thigh fillet for lunch and then dinner is usually meat or fish with salad or green veg. Once a week or so, I have pasta, otherwise I'm fairly low carb. Jelly pots, Wotsits and mini chocolate bars are my treats, as long as I stay below 1800 calories.

Couch 2 5k really works for me, as long as I stick to doing it. That, plus walking 10k steps every day, seems to help.

What is everyone else having for their evening meals? I'd love some new ideas.

Namechanger0800 · 06/08/2020 18:03

@itistiime sorry you are struggling but good on you for staying in the thread and not vanishing. Shows you are being accountable for yourself even if you haven't quite got into your groove yet.

Start small and at least promise yourself no more crisps.
