Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

@Shatteredconfidence poor you.. I had an incident like that a while ago, it's super embarrassing. I responded yes, a food baby and huffed off. Stay motivated!

Fatandnearly50 · 31/07/2020 08:35

@Shatteredconfidence
That’s awkward, I completely understand your embarrassment. On the other hand you obviously aren’t fat all over so that’s good! I am fat all over so no one thinks I am pregnant, they know it’s just fat!

Fatandnearly50 · 31/07/2020 08:35

Or I don’t think anyone thinks I’m pregnant 🤷‍♀️

Winningatseesaw · 31/07/2020 09:48

Hi guys, love to join. I've been losing weight for a year (well this time around anyway) but had lots of pauses during that time. 2 months ago I started back up again. I realised if i didn't get on top of it i would put more weight on.

It's only been recently that I've thought about the fact that I also have 8 stone to lose. I was reading a thread about people who weigh less than I do who were doing gastric bypass surgeries and it shocked me.

So weight on 31/7/19 - 114.6kgs (18stone)
Weight on 31/7/20 - 99.4kgs (15 stone 9 lbs)

To be a healthy BMI I need to be 10 stone 7 lbs which just seems so far off to me.

In the last two months I've lost about a stone so trying to keep momentum going.

I'm in a different time zone to most of you guys so will try and keep up.

And I had the same thing when travelling in January. And I'm fat all over!

Fatandnearly50 · 31/07/2020 10:37

Welcome @winningatseesaw - love the name by the way!

It's a long process for all of us, you've done great though, 15st 9lbs is a very different place to 18 stone!

I think my 'ideal weight' is around 10st 7lbs too but I know I will never get there. For me an ideal and sustainable weight would be 12-13 stone. A long way to go for all of us, but we're all in the same boat and rowing in the same direction!

Winningatseesaw · 31/07/2020 10:45

Thanks @fatandnearly50

That was the first time I had written it out as stone/lbs and did make me feel like I had achieved something :)

Shatteredconfidence · 31/07/2020 19:11

Well done @winningatseesaw , I can't wait to get to where you are!

Thanks for the lovely, positive responses. I definitely carry weight on my belly, and not helped by two c-sections but I can sit and make excuses til the cows come home. It's time to sort it out.

Zebracat · 01/08/2020 15:51

Shattered confidence, that is very embarrassing, but sometimes those embarrassing things can push us, when I was stopping smoking, I mainly kept it to myself but I did tell one friend who responded briskly that it was about time because nobody with any sense smoked. Kept me on the straight and narrow!
The scales have moved slightly today, by 300 grams. I’m taking it, amazing how much better that made me feel.Following the weighing debate with interest. I do it daily because otherwise I lose concentration, bu5 think weekly might be better. My scales do seem capricious. Can anyone recommend some that are reliable?
3 weeks in, I think some of my new habits are beginning to normalise, I can have a cup of tea now without really missing the biscuits, and I am entering everything I eat in the food diary, but if weight doesn’t start to go I may have to drop below the 1750 calories I am currently allowing myself, and that does seem a shame because it allows for ordinary meals and if this is a change for life, that’s what I want to be eating.

snappycamper · 02/08/2020 10:51

That's an amazing start winningatseesaw, I have even more to lose than you started with so hoping I can keep going.

Starting weight: 136.7kg
Week 1: 133.8kg

Chuffed with that for a first week loss but I have done a long fast and kept my carbs quite low. Holidays next week so ideally would maintain but fully expecting to put some weight back on.

Winningatseesaw · 02/08/2020 13:29

@snappycamper that's an amazing first week loss! Go you!

Having a tea or coffee without biscuits has been a huge chance but significant for me. Snacking was a major issue because I would end up bingeing. I've cut out so much snacking and feel better for it.

Winningatseesaw · 02/08/2020 13:31

@zebracat I also need new scales so am interested in a recommendation as well. Mine only easier in 0.2kg incremements which I hate

Zebracat · 02/08/2020 15:23

Just been looking at your stats @Winningatseesaw.Lovely weight loss. I started MFP in June 2019, but became discouraged by snail like progress, and ended up fatter after Christmas than when I began. Then I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid, so quite enjoyed telling everyone it’s glandular! for a few months, but did slowly begin to lose weight. Then lockdown, no swimming and lots of snacks, and back up it went. If only I had found some way to persist, I am desperate to be under 100 kilos. Time to stop the nightly glass of wine I think.
18.07.20 105.9 kilos
01.08.20 102.5 kilos.

Dinoteam · 02/08/2020 18:57

My first weigh in, 6 days in and 8 pounds down! I know a lot will be water weight but I’m chuffed to bits. Just more motivation to keep going.

Well done everyone on their great losses!

Zebracat · 02/08/2020 18:59

Well done you @Dinoteam. That’s fantastic

Fatandnearly50 · 02/08/2020 19:20

@snappycamper and @Dinoteam - those are amazing losses, well done!!!

I am dreading weigh in tomorrow, just been eating dominoes after a really stressful day. My period is a week overdue, (not pregnant, peri menopausal!) so what that will do to my weight too, who knows.

Dinoteam · 02/08/2020 20:59

My weigh in should have been tomorrow but it’s my daughters birthday so I’m going to have cake so moved it a day early Blush

notapizzaeater · 02/08/2020 21:43

I've been relatively good this week eating wise after an horrific week. Tuesday we had to have our dog put to sleep and Thursday DH was admitted to hospital. He's still in - He's ok, his tumours he had gamma knifed at Xmas have swollen up and some are bleeding and they are querying why he's so breathless. I've kept on track. Proof will be tomorrow.

Zebracat · 02/08/2020 22:42

Bloody hell @notapizzaeater. That really is dreadful. Its so hard to stick with it at times like this, but so important really, you will be less helpful to everyone if you let your eating get disordered, it is self care isn’t it?help your body to cope with all this crap by eating good food and getting all the nutrients you need. Hope you have some good support irl too.

Fatandnearly50 · 02/08/2020 23:03

@notapizzaeater blimey, that is difficult. Very well done you for staying on track.

DS (19) got beaten up this afternoon so that’s my excuse for dominoes. Injured but thankfully no hospital required. I just couldn’t face cooking.

notapizzaeater · 02/08/2020 23:53

@Fatandnearly50 hope DS is ok - that's horrific

Yes Ive lot of RL support around me 😍

amazonianwoman · 03/08/2020 00:11

A bit late to the game, please can I join?

I'm 175cm and weigh 17.5 st Sad I'm genuinely worried about COVID-19.

I start every day with the best intentions but usually by 11am I can talk myself into needing to treat myself (with food) for any emotion, good or bad.

I want to get to at least 12 st.

I'm fed up of having no comfortable clothes, getting out of breath, looking at myself in the mirror.

Aiming to get up at 6.30 to do a brisk walk

Fatandnearly50 · 03/08/2020 00:12

Thanks @notapizzaeater. He’s physically not too bad, no broken bones at least, but mentally not great. It has been a shock to the system definitely.

Glad you have lots of real life support Flowers

Winningatseesaw · 03/08/2020 03:09

@Fatandnearly50 sending best wishes for your son. Sounds awful
@notapizzaeater oh goodness what a horrible time. Remember self care during this time as I'm sure you're thinking of others the whole time.

Well done on losses @Dinoteam and @Zebracat ! Nice work

@amazonianwoman welcome. I'm a newbie as well. I definitely find that preparation is the key and I can cruise past the 11 am munchies if I know what's for lunch.

I don't go very low calorie or anything. I am just eating healthier, less snacks, definitely cutting out my reliance on chocolate and sweet things. What's working for everyone else?

Zebracat · 03/08/2020 09:26

Welcome@amazonianwoman. Love your username. I have oatsosimple for breakfast. I’m getting really sick of it but it’s calorie counted and keeps me going until lunch. The things I like blow the budget for the day and having natural yoghurt would guarantee lunch by 10.30.
I am using my fitness pal food diary, no snacks and healthy choices, but I don’t forbid anything.. I just try to keep busy. For me, it’s about changing my mindset. I love food and I want to enjoy it, not get tangled up in guilt, so I enjoy it by planning and cooking carefully and being hungry when I sit down to eat. I am lucky in that I can already feel a difference in my knees , hips and energy levels, so that keeps me going

amazonianwoman · 03/08/2020 10:46

Sorry to hear about your son @Fatandnearly50. Awful. Hope he recovers physically and mentally.

Up at 6.15 for a brisk walk. Love my breakfast of mango (defrosted mango chunks), Greek yoghurt and homemade granola, but halved the portion today. I like the Oat so Simple for the same reason, but don't like eating porridge when it's hot outside! Adding raspberries or grated apple/cinnamon and chia seeds makes it a bit more interesting.

Just got a sourdough loaf out of the oven. Going to have to leave it for DH and the kids
