Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

@Nixi4
Thanks for that, it really helps put it in perspective. Two stone would make a massive difference. Maybe not to what other people see but to how I’d feel. Just seems a long way away for now.

Shatteredconfidence · 21/07/2020 08:32

Checking in after a week and I have lost 2 kgs.

Feeling really demoralised though because I know this is going to take a huge sustained effort over months and years and that daunts me!

Why can't it just fall off effortlessly?

Fatandnearly50 · 21/07/2020 15:18

That’s great @Shatteredconfidence! 2kg is over 4 lbs!!

I do know exactly what you mean about being disconcerted about the extra long sustained effort involved. I have no wise words I’m afraid.

Just wanted to congratulate you on a great loss Smile

Shatteredconfidence · 21/07/2020 15:45

Thank you 😊 I use food for instant gratification so this is why I want the buzz of losing lots. Probably the reason I feel liw is that this loss just puts me back to the weight I was last summer.

But I know I have to keep going. I have no other option. It is boring and hard but I have to keep plugging away to hopefully see some results in a few months.

Fatandnearly50 · 21/07/2020 22:14

Oh yes, I most definitely use food for instant gratification here too.

There is no quick win but it is doable. 🤞🤞

Nixi4 · 22/07/2020 21:53

How are we all doing? I’m excited about being 15st something soon.. I only have a few more lbs to go! Obviously this is’t where I stop, but mentally really is a big tick for me.. weighing less than 6ft 1 DH would be great but that is 2 stone away!

itistiime · 23/07/2020 00:16

Hi, can I join please?

I'm 5ft 8 and 16 stone 11 pounds. I was 17s 5 at the start of lock down and managed to get to 16 stone and have put 11ibs back on in 3 weeks Blush

I use food to manage every emotion- boredom, anger, anxiety . So it's not been easy and it would be great to join you all for support

daisyhead08 · 23/07/2020 09:23

Hi everyone,

welcome itis you're in good company here and there's lots of advice and help along the way.

Shattered 2 kgs is a super loss, well done. When I started I could never have imagined that I would be 2 stone down but you're right, it is a slow journey and that can be so frustrating. I wish I could lose weight at the rate I put it on.

Nixi I'm going mad as I was a new stones number on Monday and Tuesday and now it's gone again. I hope you get to your new number soon.

I sts this week. I am furious as I was down 1 lb for two days and then it came back Angry the scales this morning gave me three different numbers so I don't know what to do, so I'm saying sts with fingers crossed for tomorrow. I'm cross but it is a lesson learnt. I went off plan for two days last week for my daughter's birthday and this is the consequence. I'm trying to be positive. In the past I would have used this as an excuse to go mad and eat everything but I won't. I will see my new stones bracket next week. Then a stone and a half to my halfway point. I'm trying to look forward and not back but it is so bloody hard.

Shatteredconfidence · 23/07/2020 14:15

Hi @itistiime I am approx. the same weight as you, but 4 inches shorter. I think I worked out that I would need to be 8ft something in order to have a "healthy" BMI Grin

I got to my current size for many reasons but one of them was not weighing myself. I thought this was a great idea! And manages to gain 10kgs, to the point that when I did weight myself after six months I believed the scales were broken. I was so convinced I went out and bought a new set (also "broken")

I have been down about my weight for a long time now but what really set me off this time was putting on a coat I bought five years ago. Now, in my head, despite gaining 3.5 stone, I look the same. Only, when I bought this coat it drowned me, it was so big it actually looked silly. When I put it in this time I couldn't do up the zip!!!

It was a real shock. So that is what is keeping me motivated. What annoys me is even if I get back to 13.5 stone, I believe I will still be in the obese bmi range.

Ah well.

Nixi4 · 23/07/2020 20:10

@daisyhead08 deep breath, it's so frustrating when we gain or sts.. but as long as we stay on plan it will come off. Fingers crossed you have a good outcome..

@itis welcome, we are all in the same boat!

@Shatteredconfidence we all need a trigger, and denial has always been my approach 🤣

Shatteredconfidence · 24/07/2020 08:05

If anyone has spotify, I have been listening to "lose weight" by positive hypnotherapy in bed at night ... I have no idea what it says because I fall asleep after a few minutes but I have noticed that I don't want to get macdonalds or chinese takeaways which I usually adore ... maybe just a coincidence but the thought of them actually makes me feel a bit ill!

itistiime · 25/07/2020 00:08

Thank you so much for the welcome - I really appreciate it. It's such a battle, isn't it?

I'm lurking until Monday as I'm still eating junk food until then but I'll be back actively then Smile

Namechanger0800 · 25/07/2020 08:06

Welcome @itistiime - this was something I did - l'll start again on Monday- all the time but Monday never really came properly . Done it for years. Just start now, today - make a change, a small change, and keep that change up, then make another small change and keep it going.

I'm also 5ft 8 and was 17st 2 at the start of lockdown- lost 11lbs and then put a few on and stagnanted, losing and then putting on the same 5lbs constantly. Finally got my act together in May and am now 13:12 which means my BMI is under 30 as well. What really helped was keep adding to those small changes to
Make a bigger and bigger change.

You can do this

itistiime · 25/07/2020 10:24

Wow, @Namechanger0800 - you've done amazing! That's so brilliant. My only goal is to get to the overweight category to reduce possible COVID risk to be honest and it seemed so out of reach but your post is a real inspiration.

I'll try my very best today, thank you

Nixi4 · 25/07/2020 11:31

@Namechanger0800 totally had a case of the green eyed monster when I saw how far you've progressed in the same time as me! Obviously we all loose at different rates, but I'm now thinking of upping my exercise levels as that must be a differential.. I walk 3+ miles per day, but haven't braved Jillian! 🤣 I'm low carb and IF.. what plan are you doing? X

Namechanger0800 · 25/07/2020 15:06

@itistiime brilliant - just do something small. For me I stopped eating chocolate initially as I am ridiculous with chocolate - didn't at first say no to everything else sweet so had cakes, biscuits etc. Then I changed by making sure I had to have a portion of veg with everything I ate- want a piece of cheese? Ok but have to have a handful of tomatoes as well etc.

@Nixi4 don't diss yourself - I think I was around 16:5 when I started on this thread or at least beginning of May I got serious about it - was just losing and gaining before that. You are doing really great - I'm low carbing and IF (mainly 16:8) and working out - have done all of 30 day shred and now doing a programme called power 90 which is strength alternated with cardio 6 days a week. I am definitely developing muscle now which might be helping the weight loss - I can see in my arms and my calves and thighs and I am not in the slightest bit athleticly built

notapizzaeater · 25/07/2020 17:28

Cn I join in please, I've over 8 stone to loose. I'm def an emotional eater and my DH has terminal lung cancer which is progressing quite quickly at the min. I've got to do something, we have a 17yr autistic son and I can't get ill as well. I've signed myself and son up to a PT Monday and my shopping is being delivered then (been shielding so other than to walk the dog we've not left the house). Hubby appetite is reduced so I've turned into nigella churning out scrummy high calorie foods so that's not been helping either 😤

Fatandnearly50 · 25/07/2020 20:13

Welcome @itistiime and @notapizzaeater

I’ve only been here a few weeks but this board is really supportive.

I had a massive loss week 1, then 1lb loss then 1lb gain 😬

This week we have been away for a few days but I have been ill so hardly eaten. Feels awful to say I hope that shows on the scales next week Blush

Enjoy the rest of the weekend people Smile

itistiime · 25/07/2020 22:09

Ha, @Fatandnearly50 I just had a bought of diarrhoea (rare for me) and thought 'well maybe that will show on the scales! "

It seems really lovely here, I think it might be the thing that helps motivate me

@notapizzaeater I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. That would make me want to eat an awful lot too.

Zebracat · 25/07/2020 23:38

Hi, can I come in please?
16 stone 2 And and that’s about 7 pounds down in 10 days.I need to lose 6 stone, but would be happy with 3.
I’m not dieting, I’ve been running up and down the scales these past few years. I know I need to make permanent changes, not deprive myself on a temporary basis and then put it back on.. So much healthier choices, very little sweet stuff and smaller portions.i am using my fitness pal to log food. I am already feeling more energy so I’m doing lots of stuff in the garden and running about with the dogs, I had seconds tonight though and actually feel quite bloated.
Been lurking for ages, you do all seem so nice!

itistiime · 25/07/2020 23:46

Hi Zebra Smile

Ok I have just had my last binge. I am writing that down now so I am accountable to someone on this. I HAVE to stop eating like this, I feel physically awful.

No more binges.

snappycamper · 26/07/2020 07:39

Can I join you too ladies? I have a lot to lose. Had some success with intermittent fasting in the last couple of months (slow but relatively easy weight loss) but after a week of medication that required me to eat three times per day I've put 2kg back on Shock

Back to fasting today and I'm going to try to combine it with low carb for faster results.

My BMI is currently 41, the highest it has ever been. I've been yo-yoing for my whole adult life. Need to get this sorted.

snappycamper · 26/07/2020 08:29

Just RTFT. This is so inspirational. I've done this before and know I can do it again, hoping that posting here will keep me accountable.

Ps @Namechanger0800 you said way back in the thread that you were aiming to get to overweight rather than obese by September. Smashed that target! Well done, your progress is amazing.

Shatteredconfidence · 26/07/2020 12:12

Yes! This is great and really motivating.

We can do this.

daisyhead08 · 26/07/2020 12:27

It's lovely to see so many new names on the thread! Welcome to you all.

@notapizzaeater, I am so sorry to read about your DH. I hope you can be kind to yourself amidst all of the other things you need to focus on.

@Zebracat, I started with about 8 ish stone to lose. Still roughly 6 ish to go, so similar weightloss goals, this is definitely achievable and you're right, permanent changes are the way to go.

@snappycamper, my BMI was also at it's highest, I found it a real wake up call. I have been fighting my weight for as long as I can remember and this is the first time that I have felt that I can genuinely make real and proper change.

I went out for a walk this morning and met one of the mums from the school. I had to take off my sunglasses because she didn't recognise me. Grin So to answer my own question from a couple of weeks ago, it takes people about 33 lbs before they notice any weightloss. That's how big I had let myself get. Blush

I hope everyone else is well. I have five weeks to lose a stone to get me to my 1st September target. I don't know if I'll make it but I will give it a good effort.
