Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

Oh daisy im sorry about your uncle, i hope you and your family are as ok as can you can be.

That course sounds interesting, i really do think the psychological side of it all is really important and makes a difference if you succeed or not.

Nix if it is a pattern at least you will know to expect it each month which should help!

Fatandnearly50 its still a loss, and you have done so well in just two weeks 😊 could it be your body balancing out as you had such a big loss?
I get why you would feel disheartened, its great to see results straight away but having to wait to see them is hard i think.

Shatteredconfidence · 14/07/2020 13:31

Hello, I would like to join please. I am 5ft4 and 17 stone - heaviest weight I have ever been. I am 38 with 2 kids.

Looking at old photos recently shocked me so starting yesterday I am trying intermittent fasting.

I get stressed and tired a lot and deal with it by eating but I really need to do something now as I can't stand getting bigger and bigger and I am embarrassed by my size. It affects my mood and my life and I desperately want to change.

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 14/07/2020 21:09

Hi Shattered welcome! This is a nice supportive group here 😊

I could have written your post, we are in the same boat.

Have you thought about where your going to start? Calorie counting? Slimming world? Weight watchers etc?

Shatteredconfidence · 14/07/2020 22:29

Hello! I am combining intermittent fasting (16/8) with low carb as I am a "high volume" eater. This is my second day and it has been hard!!!

I am telling myself that this is literally life and death for me. I have to get this weight off.

Fatandnearly50 · 15/07/2020 18:14

Welcome @Shatteredconfidence, I am new here too. The others are a lovely bunch and very welcoming. It really helps that we’re all in a similar boat size wise which can only really be understood if you’ve been there.

Good luck With your week, any start is a great start.

Nixi4 · 15/07/2020 21:07

@Shatteredconfidence hang in there I find it's much easier once you get past day three.. if it is too much stay low carb and IF next week..

@Fatandnearly50 we are all in the same boat, and absolutely this is for our lives.. I think a number of health issues + Covid made me realise that this is about getting healthier and as we get older it only gets harder!

So I had my first wobble last night, having a really tough time at work.. so sugar binge happened 😩 I've paid for it today with a rather upset tummy!! Not worrying about impact to loss as there will always be days like this.. it's what I do the day after that counts! So 24hour fast and low carb 👍

daisyhead08 · 15/07/2020 23:22

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the condolences, it has been a tough week for my family and my poor dad in particular.

Welcome Shattered I started on April 29th at 17 stone 4, so I understand exactly where you're coming from. I think this thread has been a massive support and a key factor in my success. It's nice to find somewhere that people can relate and give relevant advice.

Nixi I had my first bad wobble today. It was my 'baby's' 7th birthday. I was very sick after I had her and ended up in hospital which triggered a bad bout of PND because I was separated from her. My eldest daughter made the most magnificent cake and I had a slice of that, which quickly began my descent into all the food. I went out for a walk afterwards and now I feel really unwell. I'm glad I weighed in today and I hope that I haven't undone my week next week.

Two pounds off today. So 32 pounds in total gone. I'm trying to break my next few targets down. I'm one pound off a new stone number. 16 pounds off my dream target for 1st September. 22 pounds off halfway. I need to break things down like that to make it feel attainable. Onwards to next week and damage limitation.

Shatteredconfidence · 16/07/2020 00:38

Thank you everyone. I am in bed now having managed to stay low carb and IF for the third day. Really trying to be single minded and not give in to temptation.

I like low carb as I enjoy the food, and IF suits me as I have no self control and will eat mindlessly and continuously simply out of boredom or habit unless I can clearly tell myself it is all or nothing.

Really good to hear success stories. I piled on weight due to stress and ill health combined with greed. I remember a few years ago being devastated to be 14 stone and now I would love to be that weight again!

As an adult, the lowest weight I have managed was 11.5 stone and that is my goal.

It is good to use this thread for a bit of accountability!

daisyhead08 · 17/07/2020 14:33

I need an intervention. I went completely off books yesterday so need to cop on now. I walked last night for 90 mins and will do the same today and have gone back to tracking and counting every single thing. I'm now revising this week's aim to a sts or a pound if I'm lucky.

So, so cross with myself.

Shatteredconfidence · 17/07/2020 15:22

Just keep going with it today. As long as you don't let a bad day here and there blow you off course completely, you can get back on track! Well done on the exercise!

Shatteredconfidence · 17/07/2020 15:24

I didn't do brilliantly yesterday tbh but I am back on it today and not doing my usual thing where I use every small blip as an excuse to completely throw in the towel and start eating all round me!

Namechanger0800 · 18/07/2020 06:44

Mornjng all & welcome shattered and fatandnearly50 (you really need to change your username!)

Don't beat yourself up @daisyhead08 - the best thing is you got straight back on it! When I come off plan I've previously decided to feck it for a week plus which is ridiculous!

I've lost another 4lbs since last on here so and my BMI has gone from 36.3 to 30....just 1lb away from my second goal to have a BMI under 30 - will then officially be 'just' overweight rather than obese Grin

Nixi4 · 18/07/2020 09:51

I wasn't great.. but I refuse to punish myself. I still haven't hopped on the scales to see the damage.. I think I'm in denial! @Fatandnearly50 @daisyhead08 carry on. We all know this isn't an overnight miracle, this is long term perseverance.

@Namechanger0800 I can't even imagine what it will be like to just be overweight! Amazing job!

daisyhead08 · 18/07/2020 09:58

Thank you for all of the words of encouragement. Walk has been done for today, and while yesterday I had higher calories than I would have liked, I was still within budget.

Namechanger that's amazing, well done on all of your hard work!! I'm ages away form overweight yet, but you're giving me hope.

Nixi I'm considering a 24 hour fast to try to reset myself this week. How do you manage your 24 hours? Any tips?

Fatandnearly50 · 18/07/2020 10:32

Thanks Nixi. I think I’ve been pretty good this week but had a sneaky peak on the scales and nothing to show so far.

We have friends over tonight too so that will be expensive calorie wise but we haven’t seen them in many months so it will be lovely. And away for a few days next week...Our only time away this year as other holidays got cancelled. At least I should be able to walk lots hopefully.

If I can maintain over the next couple of weeks I think that may be a result. Not the one I would ideally want but a fair one probably.

Good luck to you all over the weekend, I will weigh in on Monday and see where I am.

Nixi4 · 18/07/2020 12:58

@daisyhead08 I aim for a 3pm - 3pm fast.. so not hungry when I go to bed and doesn't seem too hard the next day! I'm trying to do this today 😁

daisyhead08 · 18/07/2020 13:38

Thanks Nixi I realised after I had posted that I ate dinner at 5.30 yesterday so I'm going to wait until 6.00pm to eat today. Four and a half more hours to go. I'm going to go for another walk for an hour to distract myself. Do you just drink water?

Nixi4 · 18/07/2020 14:04

@daisyhead08 yes I drink water, still have my black coffee in the morning.. wouldn't survive otherwise.

daisyhead08 · 18/07/2020 14:34
@daisyhead08 yes I drink water, still have my black coffee in the morning.. wouldn't survive otherwise.
Thank you!

Namechanger0800 · 20/07/2020 06:44

Did you make it @daisyhead08 ? I've tried a couple now and it gets easier I think and better if you are busy and distracted.

So I've hit goal 2 today and am now simply overweight with a BMI of 29.8! So pleased! Next goal is another 8lbs because that gets me down to the weight I was when I went on a special holiday 3 years ago (and had dieted down to that weight - and then obviously put it all back on Hmm). Then I have another goal for the time precious to that when I got my weight even lower - bit of a theme going on isn't there! Will worry about maintaining another day!

daisyhead08 · 20/07/2020 11:03

@Namechanger0800, that is amazing! Well done. It is a credit to your hard work and commitment. Do you feel great?

I did the 24 hr fast and actually found it fine. It was when I realised that I only had about 4 hours to go to complete it that I thought I'd give it a go. I will aim for another one this weekend I think, as the scales have put me back to last week's weigh in weight today so I think the fasting helped.

Fatandnearly50 · 20/07/2020 11:43

@Namechanger0800 - that is amazing, very well done!!! I'd love to be in your boat!

I weighed in this morning and gained half a kilo!! So annoying, but I know I let go for two days but I was good for the other 5....

And holiday this week, oh God, this is going to be a slow burner...

Wk 0 - 118.5kg (18st 9lbs)
Wk 1 - 113.5kg (17st 12lbs)
Wk 2 - 113.1kg (17st 11lbs)
Wk 3 - 113.6kg (17st 12lbs)

Namechanger0800 · 20/07/2020 13:52

Thanks ! I still feel fat though- it's weird I can see I'm slimmer but the lumpy bits are still lumpy and I'm the same shape just on a smaller scale - I've gone from 17st 2 to 14st1

Nixi4 · 20/07/2020 17:11

@Fatandnearly50 your starting weight is near enough the same as mine.. I started at the end of April, and I'm over two stone down! It seems daunting which is why I've broken it down to my target of 2lb per week.

@Namechanger0800 amazing achievement.. it takes a while for your brain to catch up.. I've always had the opposite problem and thought that I was thin!

Namechanger0800 · 20/07/2020 18:35

@nixi4 GrinGrinGrin yeah to be fair I got this big because I didn't see how fat I was getting! It was a really a hideous photo of me that made me wake up! I looked massive but that's because I was
