I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Hello, can I join please? I've lost 8lb in the last two and a bit weeks. For me it's making a huge difference that I can't pop out to the shop for biscuits and chocolate, and I'm not going to a shop for lunch and buying a sarnie with crisps and chocolate. I've also stopped drinking Diet Coke.

I'm not doing any calorie counting, I am, however, exercising every day for the first time in living memory.

Ideally I'd lose 50lb, but I'm not thinking about that just yet!

Firsttimelottie · 09/04/2020 10:25

Sending you strength today NothingIsWrong

catinb0oots · 09/04/2020 10:28

@nothingiswrong - hope you have a better day today Thanks

Netflixqueen · 09/04/2020 10:29

Can I please join! I've been stuffing everything in sight for the past three weeks and takeaways. I feel awful for it. OH I love him but we can just sit and eat for hours on end together. I'm 13 stone 7 would like to get back to 11 stone.

Going to start today! I'm finding it difficult as I'm in the vulnerable category and OH isn't buying the things I buy just a lot of crap.

Firsttimelottie · 09/04/2020 10:32

Logging yesterday's meals:

B: sweet potato hash with 1 egg, asparagus, pepper and chickpeas, served on a bed of spinach

L: smoothie (1/2 avocado, 1/2 banana, cup of blueberries, 1tbsp almond butter and 1 tbsp ground seed mix - blended with water)

D: wholewheat pasta in a tomato sauce, with 1/2 can tuna and 30g cheese

S: oat milk in drinks and some black grapes

I am working in late afternoons currently and I have been loving the slower paced start to the day. I've got the time to listen to my body and what it really wants to eat. Rather than the same generic unfufilling crap I usually inhale!

raisydenton · 09/04/2020 11:37

@wombatsandaplant this thread is getting quite a following thanks for starting it- really is the kick i need!

So feeling more positive today, I should have lost stones by now given the amount of bran and beans I have eaten this week!

Yesterday was good in terms of what I ate i just ate too much at dinner. But it is good to see my appetite adjusting.

Today:
B All Bran and SS milk
L no idea - maybe a tin of soup :( clementine
T Sausage pasta and yoghurt

wombatsandaplant · 09/04/2020 11:52

Welcome everyone. I never expected this many people to join, thought it was just gonna me be.

No problem raisy.

I made stew yesterday in the slow cooker, was so good. Having chicken fajitas today. I’ve had some mini chocolate brownies today oops.

You've all motivated me so much I've been good today! No crisps or chocolate!

Breakfast: scrambled egg with chives, wholemeal bread 1 slice with a bit of butter + smoked salmon. I really recommend this breakfast, it's delicious and filling 😍

Snacks: 1x cereal bar
Lunch: Tomato & chickpea soup

This afternoon I'll be having a banana and an apple, and then a jacket potato with beans and salad for dinner (after exercise and walk).

Love reading everyone else's menus, it's giving me good ideas. Also very much agree that we finally have a chance to listen to our own bodies and an opportunity to prep the right meals at the right time.

YorkshireParentalPerson · 09/04/2020 12:19

Day four and still not caved in, scales have moved down a couple pf pound but I know this is mainly water. Its nice to be on here with everyone else. I think I have been addicted to carbs !.
I hope you are all okay.

RosesandIris · 09/04/2020 12:38

I need to do something . Despite walking every day for an hour the weight is piling on. I’m just eating too much and baking!!
Need to lose four stones. I really don’t know where to start . I’m in despair.

RosesandIris · 09/04/2020 12:39

wombat
Could I have your stew recipe please? I recently got a slow cooker but everything I’ve made in it had been disappointing.

wombatsandaplant · 09/04/2020 13:01

@RosesandIris

brown the diced beef
To make gravy, add 2 oxo cubes and a litre of gravy, some Lea and perrins or brown sauce.

Then cut new potatoes in quarters and carrots a bit smaller.

Add everything to the slow cooker and mix, cook on high for 5-7 hours depending on how tender you want the meat.

It makes gorgeous potatoes and carrots, you can also add other veg if you wish. My nan adds onions, leeks and cabbage.

I’m sure there’s better recipes but I like my stew so I stick with it.

Hope you can make something tasty.

I’m on day 11 of no crisps and I have to say I’m not really missing them. Chocolate on the other hand I keep ending up eating chocolate, My dad bought two Easter eggs so we ate those, my dads partner finally got back from Dubai and she brought small Lindt bunnies. After Easter no more chocolate, I’m determined.

Today is going better. I've been out to work for a couple of hours and the distraction has helped. So far I've had two poached eggs on toast for breakfast, a cheese and ham wrap with a fruit salad for lunch and a snack bag of popcorn. I'm doing the counting calories method and that has used up 846 calories. I'm aiming to stay around the 1250 mark for the day, so 400 for tea except if I get out for a long walk I will eat the calories I get from that, so maybe 600 available for tea today

NothingIsWrong · 09/04/2020 14:08

I'm finding being able to prepare my lunch at home when I'm ready to eat it is much easier. At work I usually grab a meal deal from the supermarket and the calories in those can really add up if you aren't watching it. I'm eating later and eating less

LaneBoy · 09/04/2020 15:04

I made a lovely carrot and lentil soup for lunch and am saving half for tomorrow. I often forget lunch and then get too hungry later so it’ll help to have something ready.

It’s really helping me that I’m doing the food diary again - it’s very much making me think before I eat!

Pickles89 · 09/04/2020 18:55

Well, how's this for depressing: I forced myself into my tightest jeans today, went out on a walk and when I got back realised they'd given way to the strain and ripped at the crotch!! Really hope nobody noticed! So then, changed into a pair of 'ordinary' jeans and Godammit they were even TIGHTER!! So the ones I was struggling into and hoping to use as my benchmark for weight loss were actually my normal ones. Eurgh.

On the plus side, I've been reasonably 'good' today food wise. A glass of Innocent raspberry ripple smoothie for breakfast, and celery with shop bought guacamole, one slice of emmental and a bread roll for lunch. No biscuits or cake at all! #willpower

Pickles89 · 09/04/2020 19:00

@wombatsandaplant Well done re crisps! I find once I'm in the zone with a diet it's usually OK and I don't crave stuff too badly, it's just getting motivated to start that's hard for me! With the chocolate you could melt it in the microwave and use it to dip fruit into or whatever, or stir into porridge? That way you're having your 'fix' without getting too carried away breaking more and more off?

catinb0oots · 09/04/2020 19:49

Well done everyone today.

@pickles sorry about your jeans Grin Oh well you can buy some nice new ones when you are skinny.

Today I did my YT workout and dog walk.

B - coffee with hazelnut milk
L - tuna salad and another coffee
D - pork steaks cooked in Chinese 5 spice with pak choi and another coffee

My problem is I'm so impatient. I'm expecting 3 years of damage to be rectified in 3 weeks. And I'm cross with myself for not starting sooner.

raisydenton · 09/04/2020 19:57

@Pickles89 what are jeans - remind me please? oh yes I remember those from the before times. I got so big jeans are uncomfortable (regardless of size) so living in legging and lounge pants. Can't wait to get back to jeans.

Another motivation. a reasonable day totalling 1322 calories according to MFP. Had some cottage cheese for lunch.

@yorkshireparentalperson what is your minty bean salad?

NothingIsWrong · 09/04/2020 20:55

Much better day today - 1500 calories eaten, 300 exercise made back so around the 1200 I was aiming for. I am now knitting socks on the sofa and about to go to bed to prevent myself going feral on the fridge

YorkshireParentalPerson · 09/04/2020 21:02

@raisydenton nothing flash, just asda's own. It's got kidney beans, butter beans, edmame (I think), bit of sweetcorn, chopped mint and a dressing. It makes a nice change

Food for me today
B - none
L - Moroccan hummus, celery, apple, cheese
D - home made chicken supreme (garlic, onions, mushrooms, peppers, left over roast chicken, chicken stock, fresh cream and a handful of peas. I used a tablespoon of cornflour to thicken)

Vast amounts of coffee and water.

Duckduckgosling · 09/04/2020 22:30

Day 10:

B: overnight raspberry oats
L: one slice of sourdough with avocado and 2 x poached egg with small amount of feta.
D: egg noodles with veg and chilli salmon

Pickles89 · 09/04/2020 22:47

I was so hungry (bother you Joe Wicks!) I went a bit overboard with dinner. More than half a tub of cottage cheese, sweetcorn and a pointy red pepper, a bread roll, a slice of Port Salut, a banana and now a blooming choc ice.
