I’m on day 4 of giving up chocolate and crisps. So far it’s going well. Lockdown is definitely helping, no nipping to the shop to get snacks or sandwiches. I’ve lost 1.3kg this first week. I’m cooking everyday and eating healthy food.

I’m hoping to continue after lockdown too. Must lose weight, my starting weight was 172.6kg. My goal weight is 90kg. Hopefully going to Disney once I’ve lost the weight, that’s my reward.

Anyone Want to join me? What’s your goal and is lock down helping you?

Can I join as well? Have piled on the weight in the last two months because I'm on steroids post a kidney transplant in late January.
Starting weight is 12st 2lbs, would like to get down to 10st as I'm only 5'4".
Breakfast was skyr yogurt with strawberries and lunch was a cuppa soup with two ryvita. Dinner will be chicken with new potatoes and salad. I've also walked 5K this morning so hopefully that'll will help a bit.

slipperyeel · 06/04/2020 16:22

Breakfast - liberte fat free yogurt with fruit
Lunch - 2 egg omelette fried in fry light with mushrooms, spring onions and ham
Dinner- home made dhal and rice
Fruit as snacks

WaterIsWide · 06/04/2020 19:14

I'm going low fat - again. It works for me. Well, when I adhere to the principals and keep an eye on portions sizes.

MFP advises me of my daily calorie intake. So, if I eat a low fat diet and keep an eye on the calories I should be ok.

I do exercise each morning at home then go for a short walk outside with my husband later on.

Today I had a late afternoon snack of stilton cheese. Then one biscuit and one mini Cadburys chocolate egg. (Not a mini egg as they are my downfall)

After tea I will have a little more chocolate.

Emotional eating is how I undermine myself. Hopefully, I can keep my emotions on an even keel with a, 'let tomorrow take care of itself' attitude.

Ha, I renamed it MyFitnessWanker when I was putting weight on last year.

Took one of the smalls for a route march round the country park and we shared a Yorkie bar on the way home. Bliss and I hit 10,000 steps - I should add that I did have to go outside for work as well today.. leave me with room for a small bag of popcorn later.

Winning!

LaneBoy · 06/04/2020 19:55

MyFitnessWanker :o love that

I struggled to use that. I’m autistic with OCD tendencies and just got really anxious about not knowing exact weights etc so it was too stressful 😳

I now write what I eat on a phone memo but it’s more about being mindful for me I guess.

Ok so far today although I got very headachy/hungry/tired around 4

EasterBuns · 06/04/2020 20:02

Not a bad day today, as long as I eating now! Also managed to spend quite a. It of time gardening, was completely done in so hopefully decent exercise.

supercee · 06/04/2020 20:05

I couldn't deal with the calculating of calories either, so now I use plain old pen and paper to write down what I'm eating each day so I can see at a glance.

Today's effort:

B: 2 weetabix with oat milk and oat milk latte.
L: 2 heck veggie sausages, baked beans, 2 eggs.
D: veggie soup and sourdough salad sandwich.

Don't usually have breakfast but I was hungry this morning after the bottle of wine last night.

NothingIsWrong · 06/04/2020 20:44

It took me a long time to get into the habit of weighing everything I ate. But as soon as I did it religiously, I started losing weight.

I started 2.5 years ago at 16stone9, got down to 12st10. Then my dad died and work got insanely stressful and I went back up at 14st9 and stayed there until lockdown started. Now back down to 13st12 and aiming for 12st final weight, which at 5'9" just sneaks me into the healthy weight category.

lavenderbongo · 06/04/2020 21:08

Please may I join? I was 102kg in November last year. I joined a gym and I’m now down to 85kg. But we’ve entered lockdown so gym is shut and I no longer have my weekly meeting and weigh in with my trainer. I’m in NZ so everything is shut apart from supermarkets. We are not allowed to leave the house apart from for local exercise or to buy food.
I’m scared I may loose the good habits I built up previously.
So I’m doing the NHS Aerobic video every morning and going on two walks a day. But it’s very difficult to stick to the diet religiously!

wombatsandaplant · 06/04/2020 22:14

I charged my Fitbit, just to see how many steps I do, I’m not gonna try for 10,000 steps yet. Hopefully soon but I don’t think I could 10,000 steps in one go just yet.

Oh you are all really motivating me - I have been eating like crazy and feeling the weight creeping up. Scales out of battery tho so maybe the first step is to sort that and shock myself into action.

My main issue is stress eating due to coping with tiny kids on lockdown. They are eating more so I snack with them in the morning, and then count the minutes till the wee one has her nap and bigger one watches telly, and then I eat crisps and chocolate to help me come down from the trauma of the morning!! Have been exercising well last few days since feeling better after suspected cv, so hoping keeping this going will motivate me.

How have folk got to that ‘this has to change’ tipping point? Any motivation tips?

wombatsandaplant · 06/04/2020 22:45

Mere I got to the point when I realised I wouldn’t be able to fit on rides at Disney. That plane seats were uncomfortable. And I just felt gross. No major things just little things. I’ve been trying for years to lose weight but it’s never worked I’d lose 5lbs then stop and gain it back and more. Then I put 50kgs on because of medication (anti psychotic) so really helped with everything /sarcasm. But yeah, it wasn’t a massive decision and turning point for me, just little things.

Lockdown has massively helped, no just nipping to the shop to get more crisps or chocolate or sandwiches. I have to cook and only go to the shop once a week. I’ve stopped buying crisps and chocolate completely. It’s a revelation, I’ve not gone a week without crisps, well I don’t think I’ve ever gone a week without crisps. I don’t even feel like I want them anymore.

Merename My this has to change moment has been this CV 19 virus. I knew I was putting weight on and when I actually got on the scales I found I was over 40 bmi putting me in the morbidly obese range. I've not really been too bothered before, but this has really frightened me and I'm doing my dandy to get below 40 as fast as cleaning possible. A couple of pounds to go and I've done it. My next goal it's to get into the merely overweight category and from there's to normal range.

I am fit and healthy in every other way, no diabetes, normal blood pressure, low cholesterol. It is quite literally my weight which is the issue and I do not want that to kill me when I can do something about it.

It's been a massive wake up call and I am awake and listening.

Yorkshiremum17 · 07/04/2020 08:57

Morning all

It's a gorgeous morning here so I took my lardy arse out for a half hours walk this morning and did 3000 steps. That's more than I have done for weeks!

Have a good food day & enjoy the sunshine☺

DivaRainbow · 07/04/2020 10:48

So yesterday I ate:
B: -
L- ham sandwich on brown bread with cup of tea
D- homemade chicken, bacon and leak pie with streamed veg.
Also had about 6 cups of tea

Managed 11,000 steps.

Changedname78 · 07/04/2020 11:05

Why is it, I eat what I want when I want and weigh exactly the same, never gain never lose, but I cut all my snacks and a meal, yet I don’t lose? It’s like I’m stuck on the same weight no matter what I do 😞

slipperyeel · 07/04/2020 12:05

Today’s menu:
B- fruit and yogurt
L- salad with hard boiled eggs
D- home made vegetable tomat pasta sauce w pasta

NothingIsWrong · 07/04/2020 12:20

My scales tell me I lost 0.2lbs overnight. Right direction!

Done an online HIIT class via Zoom this morning, and took a child for a long walk, so I've done my 10,000 steps for the day. Just contemplating lunch at the moment.

One thing I think is really helping is that I have bought a stand for my laptop so I can work standing up. MUCH better for my bag and apparently it burns an extra 50 calories an hour than sitting down does...

I think we might have cheese toasties with beans for lunch...

supercee · 07/04/2020 12:35

@Changedname78 I was saying this the other day! Grin I eat what I want, don't even think about diets, have my wine and pizza, nothing changes. Cut them out and be strict - and nothing changes!

Like I said earlier though I think my body needs more than a week or 2 to start letting it go. That's why I'm not going to weigh this week (week 1) as I never lose in the first week. Going to really have to be a lifestyle change and surely the scales can only go one way?!

Today -
Oat milk latte
2 veggie sausages, 2 eggs, baked beans.
Dinner will be some homemade veggie soup and roasted veg couscous before my nightshift.

catinb0oots · 07/04/2020 12:38

Morning (or afternoon) everyone!

I was bad I had some wine last night. It in putting that behind me and carrying on. Had coffee with hazelnut milk this morning which was lovely! I usually use soya or oat but the shop has run out.

Done a dog walk/run and a fitness blender ab workout. Not sure about lunch yet.

Dinner is homemade chicken korma with cauliflower rice.

Onwards and downwards my fellow Lockdown Losers

wombatsandaplant · 07/04/2020 12:50

Took the dog for a 5000 step walk. Shame we can’t go twice a day, I could get my 10,000 steps in. 5000 is about my limit at the moment.

OP posts:
LaneBoy · 07/04/2020 12:55

I would definitely do better if we could go twice! I can’t manage long walks as I get tired so easily and I can’t really have a rest on a bench.

I did manage a wider lap though and walked a bit faster today.

Then had a decent lunch - a small bit of wholegrain rice with veg and tuna.
