Hi, here is the new thread. Without stating the obvious, think that in such difficult times, the emphasis is going to be on staying on an even keel as best we can and supporting each other. I weighed in at 9st0.5 this morning, I'm the first to admit that all I want to eat is carbs at the moment but I'm finding the accountability good. I'm aiming for 8st12.5 this month. Take care all

Welcome rockin !
I'm the same stop - haven't lost anything for ages but am definitely leaner. I've got a Fitbit - what is different about premium?
That's a shame Monstera as it really is very motivating to see the inches dropping. I suppose you could just use an item of clothing as a measure, but for me there is something about seeing actual numbers...

TheHoundsofLove · 12/04/2020 16:31

Keep going Iggle - 10lbs is great and you're a third of the way there!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 12/04/2020 16:36

Hounds I have a beautiful dainty dress that fits when I'm lighter so I'll use that as a guide.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 12/04/2020 20:01

Hmm, well I was a bit off plan today. Nearly 200 Cal's over my aim and I have eaten nearly all the chocolate I was going to have for the week! Back on it tomorrow.

rockinmum · 12/04/2020 20:55

I’m just looking to drop my carb intake (not to keto levels), watch what I’m eating and alternate strength and cardio workouts throughout the week.
Hoping it’ll work 😂

Octopus37 · 13/04/2020 08:07

Welcome Rockinmum. Weighed in at dead on 9st his morning. I know I should be doing more exercise at home but tbh working from home is taking most of my time at the moment. Have a good day all

MonsteraCheeseplant · 13/04/2020 08:08

Iggle What's your calorie goal?

I was only slightly over my calorie goal (1200 min) but I was pleasantly surprised at my restraint as I only had 2 pieces of Easter chocolate. I just hope there isn't a big binge coming. Plus I did a morning of garden work and went for a walk so i'm fine with that.

Am not close to being out of chocolate though...doesn't help that we bought 6 (6!!) giant bars of Ritter sport at Lidl over the last few weeks. They're really my weakness and can only usually buy them abroad. Oh, and I also bought Aero mousses and mini creme eggs and Nutella B-ready's the other week. This may be a time bomb.

wastingtimeworrying · 13/04/2020 08:18

Hi not checked in for ages but been reading comments occasionally. My weight has stuck the same for weeks. Been exercising every day and feel bit trimmer but no shift on the scales. I don't think I can realistically get lighter so guess toning up is the way. Still 8st9 at 5ft1. Am trying to embrace it (at 40 after 4 kids) but will always hate my legs. One day last week the scales showed 8st7 and I was thrilled but must have been playing tricks as not seen it since ! Now due on so this week wont be great.

wastingtimeworrying · 13/04/2020 08:22

Lockdown has been ok for me food wise - not as hungry as I normally am at work and drinking lots of herbal teas (and not being able to pop to shop for fresh bread, doughnuts, alcohol helps)

winterisstillcoming · 13/04/2020 09:36

Hello @rockinmum!

Yesterday was a good day. Kept to 1200 and did 14k steps. I've got some motivation and hopefully it will result in a long awaited shift in the scales.

@wastingtimeworrying a sts with your numbers is an achievement in itself. I'm finding it harder now I'm coming into ideal weight range. I'm approaching that stage where exercise and toning will make a difference so I've dug out some old workout dvds (still in wrapper) to try out and kick start my metabolism.

@houndsoflove- thanks for the Fitbit tip. Might sign up as I'm annoying the challenge of step counts.

@octopus again you're on top of it.

I have a pair of 'barometer' jeans too.
One of the main reasons for weight loss is to get into my clothes. I have just had a massive clear out and rearrange of all wardrobes and rediscovered some beautiful clothes. I am a bit of a clothes addict but tend to buy good quality and don't mind paying for them. Some of my 15 year old things are still current and can be reworked so I really want to get back into them. A size 10 now was definitely not a size 10 then though!

I will at some point list my no scale gains to keep myself going. What are everybody else's??

Octopus37 · 13/04/2020 09:43

Honestly, I'm not on top of it at the moment at all, I'm winging it and eating chocolate for lunch every day. Like everyone else struggling with stress and that rightly or wrongly seems to help me cope. I'm not drinking much at the moment which probably helps and I am managing a long dog walk everyday and doing quite a bit of cleaning at home. Think for everyone its just a case of managing, sorry to state the obvious.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 13/04/2020 10:18

Hi @rockinmum that sounds like a good and sensible way to start (and not as boring as calorie counting!) Sometimes just being aware and not filling my plate with potatoes helps!
@MonsteraCheeseplant this week I'm lowering it to 1500 to make up for the Easter egg. Usually, mfp says I can have 1720 to loose 1lb a week and I just try to come in under that, which is quite achievable.
Good luck today everyone, will report back on what I managed

Heygirlheyboy · 13/04/2020 10:45

Octopus I'm delighted for you Smile

I seem to be on a mission to stuff myself and eat as much as I possibly can... egg eaten completely yesterday plus plus and funny enough I feel dreadful.. just in from 25 minute run so almost a 5k. Going to make a proper effort today, as honestly I simply haven't been. I am almost back to where I started after 2.5 months of doing so wellI'm which is just plain stupid. 9st 10.75...

Heygirlheyboy · 13/04/2020 11:27

Porridge with blueberries and banana
Omlette with salad and avocado
Dinner undecided. Here's to a fresh start!

Heygirlheyboy · 13/04/2020 14:26

Hope everyone having a good dayday. I've hit 11k steps so I'm happy with that. I see on my tracker you only include exercise outside the norm, which I'm glad to know as felt a bit unsure of that ie anything over 10k steps for walk/run.

Some selfcare I'm going to try really hard to include in my day/week: 3runs per week and a long walk or two on the non-run days. More water,I'm really good at this while working but of course all gone to pot since stopped work. Keep up daily skincare routine. Get decent sleep! I'm allowed just over 1300 a day now with aim of 1.5lb loss per week.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 13/04/2020 19:21

I've had a hungry day today but stuck (just) to my calorie aim.
B. Bacon, mushroom, bit of Spanish tortilla 2 coffees (400)
L. Cheese savoury sandwich lots of tea (350)
D. Roast chicken breast, peas, spinach, gravy, very small portion of toasties (500)
S. Cheese string, apple, teaspoon of peanut butter (200)
All nice stuff and I've done 13000 steps. I really want to eat a load of ice cream or something now, but I'm not going to. Id like a decent result this week.

EndlessUserName · 13/04/2020 21:09

@Octopus37 that's fantastic well done you!!!

@heygirl you can do it, I was a few pounds away from starting point too. But that's ok, I know a lot more about what I'm doing, I know I can do it, I know these last few weeks and months have been totally shit so it's normal for weight to be impacted. And I know I have this amazing support network. Good for you getting back on there and keeping going, we can do this!

I will try to weigh in tomorrow... Maybe! And take measurements. We'll see!

Fitbit premium is nothing special but has some nice articles. More analysis on what you eat and sleep patterns etc but it's all stuff I knew already. Free though so worth a look perhaps

winterisstillcoming · 13/04/2020 22:23

@stopfundinghate thanks, I've signed up and cancelled so I'll have premium for 3 months. There's nothing more I really need but I do like the thought of varied challenges so I'll try those.

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket and @Heygirlheyboy, I've had another better day too so well done on yours. 13k steps and 1300 cals. I'm exhausted though. I've had a few troubled nights and I think it's caught up with me.

I've actually managed to use my calories better today and feel that I've eaten loads. I keep checking mfp to make sure I've entered it right but I've swapped a few carbs for some veg and it's made a huge difference. Still eating chocolate on the sly though, albeit counted.

Wishing everybody a good day tomorrow!

EndlessUserName · 14/04/2020 07:39

@winterisstillcoming ooh yes the challenges yes I like the look of them. How do you cancel please? I assume you've cancelled but still have access to the free trial?

Octopus37 · 14/04/2020 07:58

Heygirl you can do this, I have lost weight and put it on again so many times so I feel your pain. I spent all last year aiming to lose weight and put on nearly a stone during the year. You are doing fantastically witgh your running as well. Need to look at this Mumsnet premium thing when I get the chance, think my account is probably under my old email address so need to change it. Still 9st today, but have a virtual pub night planned for tomorrow so will have to see after that.

OP posts:
Heygirlheyboy · 14/04/2020 08:59

Thanks so much all for the supportday and the encouragement. Really helps.
9st.8.5 this AM. I've apparently lost 2.25lbs since.yesterday Grin Hilarious. Going to keep up the daily weighing for a week or so.
Ono
Eggs
Chilli
And 4mile walk on menu. Have a good day all!

winterisstillcoming · 14/04/2020 10:32

@stopfundinghate I cancelled through the confirmation email from the Apple store.

@Octopus37 I've subscribed to Fitbit premium, not Mumsnet. That doesn't have a free trial unfortunately.

Feeling really run down today. I'm not sure if I've overdone it, sickening for something or just not had a good night's sleep. I've got my food planned so hopefully I'll stick to it.

Have a good day everyone

winterisstillcoming · 14/04/2020 10:33

And well done @Heygirlheyboy.

Octopus37 · 14/04/2020 11:26

Well done Heygirlboy. Relieved you were talking about a Fitbit premium not Mumsnet. Sorry to hear you are feeling rough Winters, not surprised with all the stress you have had, take it easy if you can

MonsteraCheeseplant · 14/04/2020 15:57

Hello hello. Is there a better way of dealing with the bored munchies? I always get them around this time of day. I'm bored of what I'm doing and my mind starts to think about what I can chew on. Sometimes I eat cucumber, look on my phone but my will to distract myself is low because everything else bores me too. Gotta hold out till dinner.
