Hi, here is the new thread. Without stating the obvious, think that in such difficult times, the emphasis is going to be on staying on an even keel as best we can and supporting each other. I weighed in at 9st0.5 this morning, I'm the first to admit that all I want to eat is carbs at the moment but I'm finding the accountability good. I'm aiming for 8st12.5 this month. Take care all

Porpoises know what you mean about facebook,, although for me its not so much the arguments about lockdown, its more the online crafts and aren'[t we having amazing family time doing loads of crafts. My fill in audits have now been cancelled, so I've just got my online work, v worried to be honest. Not great for weight loss as it just means I want chocolate. Up to 9st1.75 this morning. Day at a time. Hope everyone else has a better day.

It's hard going. Everyone should be extremely kind and compassionate to themselves. As much as possible, 'switch off' from others' issues, which is what the online arguments are about. I am reading a lot and enjoying it. Highly recommend An Education by Tara Westover.

Depsite my much better last few days I've gone up a pound Hmm Go figure but I'll keep doing best and will try to be content with my best right now. Dontfundhate I think your aims are ideal and same as mine really! Aiming for 10k steps today and an early night.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 07/04/2020 17:53

Hi @MonsteraCheeseplant I'd add more salt and pepper, a bit of white wine and reduce it down a bit more.

Well last night I did have a few drink with my work mates (three rum and diet lemonades) and I was slightly over calorie wise but it was well worth it because I had a great laugh and it was relaxing.
Today's food:
B. Bacon, egg, tomatoes, 1 slice of toast (500)
L. 5 mini Quorn eggs salad with avocado (400)
D. Garlic chicken, seseme miso aubergine, baby potatoes (400)
I will aim to do a decent yoga video as well as a walk too.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 07/04/2020 18:01

Missed your posts hey & octopus. Yes the I'm doing so well look at the educational stuff I'm doing with my kids on FB can be really stressful. I'm in a WhatsApp group of all the kids in my kids year where everyone posts that sort of stuff. My daughter didn't get dressed til about 4pm today, I'm just sticking with fairly low standards. As long as they are fed, reasonably clean and spent at least some of the day not on Roblox that's a success for me.

winterisstillcoming · 07/04/2020 18:20

I feel your pain octopus. I am of the view that the stuff I do with the children is for them, not for putting on flipping Facebook. Every time these people are posting on Facebook is time they're not spending on their own children. Facebook is for oversharing exhibitionists sometimes. You can unfollow people for a short period of time if they post too much and get on your nerves. I took Facebook off of my phone a few years ago and not looked back. It's now on the iPad and that's just enough although now I'm so frequently on it.

I seem to have hit a brick wall with this weight loss. I've lapsed several times which has resulted in me hovering around 9st 5 for over a week now. I've been good so far but it's usually when the kids go to bed that the recklessness starts. I put footner on so I can't move for an hour. I'm pretty certain the PMS is starting up which is making things harder and I hardly slept last night. So let's see.
.

Although I'm really enjoying the slower pace with the children, I'm missing time to myself. I might convince DH to take the kids out on a bike ride on the weekend, so I can go for a run by myself again.

@MonsteraCheeseplant try a bit of mustard in that recipe to liven it up

Keep going everyone.

Porpoises · 07/04/2020 19:15

Thanks everyone. That's great advice heygirl. I'm feeling better today. Think I had PMT yesterday on top of everything else.

Octopus37 · 08/04/2020 08:46

Sorry to those of you who have PMT, ca really make you feel grim. Yesterday I ended up not going out for my exercise which was rubbish. I'm up to 9st1.75 again this morning after eating too much yesterday, really need to try and reign it in. Re facebook, I'm going to look at it less today, that's good advice, although I do love the Mrs Gloss posts. Lost my shit a bit with the kids yesterday, but today is a new day. Really need to get on top of my weight loss again.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 08/04/2020 22:58

Hello! Hope everyone had a good day and hope the runners managed to get out for a run.
I've stayed under calories and got a long walk in 13000 steps. Now sitting watching tiger king and feeling very hungry!

EndlessUserName · 09/04/2020 07:47

Aiming for 10k steps today and an early night.

Yes this! I'm digging my Fitbit out right now! And finding it hard to fall asleep for about a month, which is very unlike me, so prioritising that.

I also realised yesterday that I pride myself on preparing very healthy lunches and snacks for my kids (smoothies, veg, fruit, wholesome stuff) and so why not just eat the same as them!! This was a bit of a revelation to me.

I will still eat one creme egg a day though, Im not going to deprive myself completely!

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket your menu sounds amazing! Any chance of the garlic chicken recipe please? Also, my children also didn't get dressed until about 2pm, one only got changed into her swimming costume and the other only changed her top because it was filthy Grin

Urgh yes and I agree. I deleted Facebook a long time ago, I've muted the new WhatsApp groups (including my work one oops!) And on insta I do follow loads of 'real life' parenting things because I love them, they make me feel like things are ok and they give me ideas for how to get five mins peace!

Pms is shit. Mine is worse than ever since my second child. I was having reflexology to help but obv that has needed to stop for now.

9st 12.5 today so feel like I'm getting back on track

Octopus37 · 09/04/2020 08:20

Thought I hadn't done too badly food wise yesterday, but weighed 9st3 this morning, meaning I have gained two and a half pounds this months. That said, I feel as though I might be about to have another period, mood and stomach wise so hoping that could be it. Going for a long dog walk this morning and I need to start monitoring what I'm eating more strictly again.
So far:
Cereal bar - 195 calories
Hotel chocolate sunny side up chocolate - 70

Got to do this, really don't want to be back at square 1 if and when this is over

EndlessUserName · 09/04/2020 08:51

@Octopus37 we can do it! Even if we just maintain I think that would still be an achievement. This sort of thing would see me put on about a stone usually so I'll be pleased to maintain and to try to just keep up my healthier habits x

winterisstillcoming · 09/04/2020 08:56

@stopfundinghate I've had my Fitbit on this week and that's definitely spurred me to keep moving.

@octopus I can relate to you at the moment. Fallen off the wagon. Need to get back on. PMS is a good week long for me so enough to set me back. I'm dreading weigh in tomorrow. I'm determined though so will try and be good today

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket I need your headspace!!

Have a good day all

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 09/04/2020 09:27

Hi all! Beautiful day here today, I have to work but I'm aiming to get a nice long walk in again and change up my route a bit.

@stopfundinghate the garlic chicken is just a few minced cloves of garlic, few tablespoons of olive oil, salt, pepper, chopped up herbs (I had rosemary and thyme growing). Dice the chicken chuck it all in, leave for 10 mins to an hour, then fry (without adding extra oil) or bake. Usually I add lemon zest too but I didn't have any.

@octopus a pound or two could easily be water retention or slight difference in the time of day. I weigh quite a lot more than you but my weight can change up to about 4lbs in a day depending on what time it is. If you've been sticking to plan just stick with it.
Have a nice/ not awful day everyone!

Octopus37 · 09/04/2020 11:45

Thanks for the encouragement ladies, sending positive vibes to everyone. Yes, we can do this.

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 10/04/2020 08:35

How's everyone doing today? 9st1.75 again today had a better day yesterday, not perfect but better. Hope everyone is as ok as they can be

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 10/04/2020 08:45

Morning!
Yesterday I went right up to my mfp calorie allowance but it was a reasonably healthy day and I managed my 10000 steps
Today's plan:
B. Porridge with berries & flaked almonds, 2 coffees
L. Salary stuff and hummous/ or an egg based thing
D. Chorizo & what's in the fridge pasta
S. Mini twister (how did I only just find out these are 45 calories!?)
Final calories used up by rum & diet lemo on virtual pub with mates

How is everyone planning on dealing with Easter chocolate? I'm thinking I'll decide what I'm going to allow myself today.

winterisstillcoming · 10/04/2020 08:59

Good morning. I'm a STS this week at 9st 5.
I too was much better yesterday. Went slightly over for my Cals but did 13k steps. Hopefully I'm back on an even keel but I've got this weekend to get through and I've got a wine and facetime date tonight with a friend so I'll have to save some cals for that.

Hope all manage to enjoy the good weather safely.

EndlessUserName · 10/04/2020 16:44

Right I've eaten 4 creme eggs today... Here are my resolutions

Only eat in company (like I said before I pride myself in feeding my kids well and dp isn't a big sweet eater)

Aim for 7-10 fruit and veg a day (because I'm only just meeting the 5 sometimes so I think a higher goal will help push me)

10k steps 5x a week (can't go running at the mo, long story!)

8hrs sleep a night (including no screen time one hour before bed)

I think that's it. Don't want too many goals. Will see how I get on!

EndlessUserName · 10/04/2020 16:45

@winterisstillcoming well done on STS!

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket another lovely menu!

Re: chocolate - I just won't eat any in secret. That's my biggest thing, secret chocolate eating. It's weird!

Porpoises · 10/04/2020 19:32

Sounds good stopfundinghate!

Heygirlheyboy · 10/04/2020 19:37

I am exactly the same stopfundinghate, that's my definition of pure relaxation! Sad

winterisstillcoming · 10/04/2020 20:07

@stopfundinghate thanks! And I didn't realise this secret eating was a thing. I am exactly the same. I don't get the same pleasure from eating with the family as I do when eating alone.

Since the kids have arrived I've always enjoyed putting them to bed, a big sigh of relief, and then stuffing myself with treats. I've tried everything to wean myself off the habit but I keep going back to it. Same thing as soon as I drop them off to school and come home.

Any tips on breaking the habit for good will be welcome. Currently I've just factored it into my calorie allowance.

Heygirlheyboy · 10/04/2020 20:09

Exactly that winter!!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 11/04/2020 08:09

Hey hey! I've lost 3lbs this week! I can't believe it!
I still get nervous getting on the scales in case there hasn't been a change because I don't feel like i'm depriving myself at all. I have been squeezing sweet things into my 1200 cals a day. I ha a BBQ yesterday. Yay, i'm very happy.

DH and I decided to start Adrienne's 30 day Yoga thing as of today. She does talk some shit but I do love Yoga and am missing the opportunity to go again. Pre covid, I was planning on returning, had booked my slot and had to cancel.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 11/04/2020 08:10

By the way the mini creme eggs are only 50cals each.
