Banting is my favourite old fashioned word. Means slimming, and I got it from Agatha Christie Grin

Great thread title! Checking in, thanks again WellErr, 7lbs lost in Jan, only 4 to go for my goal (then need to reevaluate/maintain - which I'm rubbish at!).

Thanks for the new thread Well! Loving the title!

Checking in for February.. 6lbs down in Jan - if I lose another 4 this month (to 8lbs 8 - I’m only 5ft 1) I’ll be happy and will maintain from March.

Onwards and downwards!!

WellErrr · 31/01/2020 09:05

Just checking in properly - down from 9st4 to 8st9. I make that a 9lb loss?

2lbs to go until my goal of 8st7, and then will come the hard part - maintaining 😱

Good luck everyone for February!

I was about 5lb down in Jan, aiming for another 3-4 in Feb before I go to NY (and try not to put it all back on again!!)

My plan is to keep sticking to 1500 calories a day and smashing it in the gym. Mostly weight training and a bit of cardio for extra fun. My dangers are over training/getting too exhausted from small kids+work+training+calorie deficit and also frankly just losing focus so I will be checking in regularly to stay on track.

Glad to have the company!

What a great title! Signing in :)

It's mad, I did hardly any exercise this week and I've lost weight? I think it takes a while for exercise to have an effect. My iliotibial band or whatever it's called is so tight and i think that's what's been causing the knee pain. I might get a deep tissue massage with a physio if I can't deal with it myself through foamrolling and rest...

toasterstrudle · 31/01/2020 12:05

@twixes exercise per se wont make you lose weight, it's a calorie deficit. I've scaled exercise back while I'm eating low cal and only doing walking with 2 weight sessions a week and 1 run. So if you've eaten under without much exercise you'll still lose weight!

Wineloffa · 31/01/2020 12:19

I agree, what you eat has a bigger impact on weight loss than how much you exercise. When I was doing lots of running, I was always starving so found it difficult to control my food intake and therefore more difficult to lose weight.

Exercise is great for toning though! It’s about getting the balance right.

Patchworksack · 31/01/2020 12:43

Signing in! Target for end of Feb or early March is 9 stone. Currently 9st 5lb.

TheHoundsofLove · 31/01/2020 13:14

Also signing in!
My target for February is going to be 4lbs, which will take me to 9st2.

Octopus37 · 31/01/2020 14:37

Love the thread title. Interesting about the exercise, tbh I feel hungrier or/and have a god given right to eat if I do more exercise.
Aiming for 9st3 by the end of February. that's 4 pounds off or 3 and a half if going by my most favourable weigh in.

WellErrr · 31/01/2020 14:51

I don’t do exercise.
Well, I have a very active lifestyle and I do my sport, but I can’t bear exercising for exercising’s sake. Wish I could!

Over ten years ago in my yoof I used to do my mystery sport professionally. I was 10st2 then but all muscle. I have the type of body that puts muscle on quickly, and I very soon end up looking quite chunky which I don’t really like, so apart from my day-to-day rushing about I don’t bother!

I’m always v impressed reading about everyone’s runs and spin classes though!

I’m having an 1800 calorie day today as an end of month treat!

MyuMe · 31/01/2020 15:21

I'm starting again tomorrow!! Having a bad day but will get back on that wagon.

toasterstrudle · 31/01/2020 16:19

Well done @myume! I'd try and lose the mindset of good day/bad day and just think weekly calories - if overall you've a deficit, you'll lose weight! No such thing as good or bad foods, just calories in v calories out Smile

everycowandagain · 31/01/2020 18:09

I am off out for dinner and drinks tonight, so it won't be the healthiest day overall. I didn't manage to eat my prepped box of veg sticks at work so I will try and get them eaten while I get ready, to take the edge off my hunger.

Did get my legs workout done and I am feeling stronger and putting all my weight up which is great.

Then tomorrow I am back on with tracking my food!

Wineloffa · 31/01/2020 18:13

Today’s menu was:

B- porridge and blueberries
L- pot hummus & rice cakes
D- homemade chicken chorizo jambalaya

S- Apple, banana

I did a power walk with the dog and a half hour yoga session.

Just about to crack open a bottle of champagne which might bring me a bit over. The birthday celebrations aren’t over yet! Grin

DontFundHate · 31/01/2020 18:16

Thanks for the new thread!

7lb down in January, aiming to be 9st 4 which would be another 7lb to lose. Maybe even a goal weight of 9st which would be a total 11lb more to lose, will see how I feel, I like the idea of a bit of a buffer, as in, I'd like to be in the zone of 9st - 9st 4 to allow for fluctuations but also to know when I need to take action if my weight creeps up again. Hoping to achieve this over the next two months, with everyone's support too!

Porpoises · 31/01/2020 20:18

Managed to introduce myself on the finished January thread, so will try again Blush I really like the supportive nature of this thread.

Was between 62 and 66kg for years, seemed a healthy weight. In the last year i didn't own a scales and ignored tight jeans as I've had trouble with some food intolerance and bloating. When I finally weighed myself at the end of last year I've gone up to 75kg.

Changes made so far:

  • bought a scales
  • cut out the daily croissant habit, it's now once a weekish, and muesli in the office on normal days
  • bought a microwave. The aim is to batch cook a bit so I have a healthy meal at the end of a long commute, rather than a pizza.

Things want to do next:

  • actually start batch cooking (ideas and inspiration gratefully received)
  • try to reduce sugar cravings and choose nutritious options

Not going to calory count or weigh too frequently because I find it makes me obsessive.

Weight aims:

  • stabilise and stop getting heavier (seem to have roughly managed this over the last month), a gradual loss would be a nice bonus.
Wineloffa · 31/01/2020 20:26
