Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Thank you for your kind words, wuzzlefraggle.
Lunch - 4 barbeque flavour chicken wings from Sainsburrys with tea with 1 sugar and 2 custard cream biscuits.
Dinner - half a toast of white bread (I have to say I bought seeded brown bread Tesco own and it's totally awful so I had to switch to white for now) followed by spaghetti with grated parmesan cheeses. Snack - tea with 1 sugar and 3 rivitas, blueberries and now I'm off to have another cup with rivita (possibly 3 more).
Not so good today. I must try harder tomorrow. I'm planning to have roast lamb with roast pots and boiled peas for lunch. The rest I need to think about. How is everyone?

fedda · 19/08/2008 11:47

I also forgot that I had a Mars bar yesterday with my tea. Well, today I had tea with 1 sugar and some cornflakes without milk (I often have cornflakes dry instead of biscits), later some pieces of a carrot. I'm cooking roast lamb with roast pots, steamed carrots and peas for lunch. How is everyone?

kidsrus · 19/08/2008 18:24

good evening all!
you are all looking great.
i have lost 3lb of holiday fat so far and start each day with a bowl of museli(bf) and salad (l) meat and veg for tea then i go to pot with biscuits and crisps (i must try harder)
i will do the ironing tomo night to stop my craveings, tonight im celebrateing my dh is 40 so its his choice for e/m bet its take away lol
why do men insist on the worst food and stay slim

wuzzlefraggle · 19/08/2008 20:26

Hey well done kidsrus! And Happy Birthday to you dh (lol about the take away - typical of men!).

Fedda, thats a good idea about the dry cornflakes instead of biscuits.

As for me, I've had another good day. I had grapes and apple for breakfast. For lunch I had half a baked potato and salad (about 2 hours later I had a slice of toast with dairy lea) and then for tea I had a small portion of cottage pie. I think thats pretty good. Not too bad. It's unbelievable how much I go to get some chocolate and have to tell myself off a bit lol. I've not had any for days now!

fedda · 19/08/2008 21:29

You are doing well, girls. I ended up having ice cream after lunch and later I had poridge made with milk and honey with almonds and tea with 1 sugar.

wuzzlefraggle · 20/08/2008 22:39

Well, I managed to be good again today too! I'm actually in a little shock lol

Had 2 oranges and some grapes for breakfast. A small lean piece of pork with carrots and peas and a small amount of potato for lunch. 1 crumpet for a snack and then for tea I had cottage pie (I made a large one so had to finish off what was left from yesterday )

How has everyone else been today?

fedda · 20/08/2008 22:54

I haven't been good for ages.
Breakfast - honey milk poridge
lunch - MacDonald's BBQ pork melt with melted cheese on brown roll and coffee with 4 sugars (it was so bitter otherwise)
Dinner - home made pork, bean and carrot stew with much pots, 2 peaches, grapes.
I had some water and only one cup of tea but still, 5 sugars in one day (mind you there are 7 tea spoons of sugar in a small bar of a chocolate bar. Tomorrow is already shop bought chicken Kiev - tesco finest - my family loves them and I'm too weak to say I don't eat rubbish. Oh, dear, when am I going to go back to sensible eating - probably in September, at least for breakfast and lunch.

wuzzlefraggle · 21/08/2008 16:30

Don;t be too down about it Fedda. It really is so hard to diet.

I am still pretty pleased with myself. I have had 2 sandwiches today. One on brown bread (low fat chicken) and one on white (again just chicken). Grapes for breakfast. And I actually cleaned the house so hard this afternoon that I worked up a sweat! lol surely exercise??!

fedda · 21/08/2008 16:41

Thank you, wuzzlefraggle. I'm sure cleaning the house or sweeping the leaves outside the house is an excersise and a good one one too as you achieve the better look of your house.

wuzzlefraggle · 21/08/2008 17:06

lol, yeah thats how I think about it too Fedda.

How are you feeling about the dieting at the mo?

fedda · 21/08/2008 19:16

I was about to have the rest of my pork stew from yesterday but I decided against it and I had a raw carrot instead. I need something though although I had chicken Kiev with chips, peas and 1 slice of garlic and cheeses bread for lunch and a little bowl of honey, milk and grapes poridge for breakfast.
I might have corn flakes with milk - it's lite. i guess what I'm saying is I'm trying but my will power is lower than it was a year ago.

wuzzlefraggle · 22/08/2008 09:12

It must be hard Fedda, I really do sympathise with you. With all of the lovely (but sadly high cal) things out there I find it hard too. But if you really want to diet then don't give up hun. You CAN do it and I have every confidence in you We are all going to slip up etc and this what this thread is for - support throughout all of it - highs and lows x

fedda · 22/08/2008 17:44

Your support means a great deal to me, wuzzlefraggle. Thank you so much.

wuzzlefraggle · 22/08/2008 23:39

you're very welcome Thats what I'm here for

Today has been ok for me. Not too bad. Although I did allow myself a scone lol. ah well. And on sunday I will find out how much I have lost this week...

fedda · 23/08/2008 10:52

Good luck, wuzzlefraggle. I wasn't too bad yesterday although i had 1 white roll and salad with some mayonaise but i had lot's of berries and grapes and fish for lunch (cod)and for dinner (sea bass) with some home made french fries and stir fry brockoli.

fedda · 23/08/2008 16:08

Today my family vouted for Starbaks and everyone decided to have panini with ham and cheeses. I thought I'd be 'clever' and opted for granola with milk instead. As I was eating it I thought I could taste cinamon so I decided to look whether it was in ingredience and it was there. I wish I didn't see the ingredience as there was - for 100 g of granola with pecan nuts (i considered it healthy food) honey, maple syrop and sugar (if I add honey I don't add maple syrop and sugar to my cereal, say poridge which was also listed as poridge oats). Then I looked up how much sugar and I was shocked - 26,9 g! So instead of having a healthy alternative I had something loaded with sweet things - possibly like a lolly pop I don't want my DS to have!

wuzzlefraggle · 23/08/2008 18:20

Ah no! It's horrible when that happens!

With diesting I do believe that a little of what we like (like a white roll for example or a small cake) is ok. Otherwise it would just be unbearable!

Been ok today. Will soon see with the weigh in results tomorrow that I get. eeeek! lol

Thanks for the wishes of good luck fedda

fedda · 23/08/2008 21:33

You are very welcome, wuzzlefraggle. Please, let me know how it went. I have to say I don't trust my scales theses days as they say different things from what I expect and sometimes I know I put on weight and they don't show it, on other occasions when I feel lighter they show increase. I have digital scales and they have to be better then that.

wuzzlefraggle · 24/08/2008 09:29

I'll let you know when I weigh I don't trust me scales either so I weigh on my grandmothers (they are excellent) and I go there in an hour or so .

I had digital scales too - mine was crap! It used to show different weights if I weighed a few times one after the other so I don't use them any more. Even when I put new batteries in it, same thing happened.

fedda · 24/08/2008 12:27

They sound like mine. Strange that digital scales can be so unreliable.

kidsrus · 24/08/2008 13:35

hi all well done on your efforts keep it up.
scales are odd things wouldn't it be good if we could get them to say what we want to hear and a mirror with a svelt like figure.
Oh well we will have to do it ourselves.

Wow! i lok fab in the mirror and my word haven't i lost weight!

well it might work if i keep trying.

fedda · 24/08/2008 15:35

I've tried to put on a dress I'm keeping for special occasions. I only wore it once but I put it on with great difficulty but when it was time to take it off I thought I'd never be able to do it - it was soooooo tight! I was breathing so heavily after I took it off at last! oh, dear. Now I'm not sad I got rid of some of my old dresses thinking one day they would come to use. Not very likely! Oh, dear, when Fimbles comes back she will say - whatever happened to me, I was supposed to give you support, now look at me. I must start thinking positively. Come on, fedda, you can do it.

Fimbles5 · 24/08/2008 22:02

I'm back!!! and I'm here to kick you all up the butt!! What is it with all the faces and negative messages. Where is all the positive support Fedda only kidding. Have had a week away on our annual camp and usually put on 4-5lbs, but unfortunately I went down with a sickness bug on Wednesday and couldn't eat properly until yesterday so fortunately I have stayed the same weight wise. Had a chinese for tea tonight as only got home today and have no food in house, but am planning on getting back on track tomorrow. Glad to see you have all been supporting each other during my absence and hoping that we can successfully get through next week with maybe a loss on the scales. Good luck everyone.

fedda · 24/08/2008 22:53

It's wonderful to have you back, Fimbles. It's a pity you weren't well all the time but I'm glad you feel better. I feel more positive already.

wuzzlefraggle · 24/08/2008 23:39

Welcome back fimbles!!

Well, weighed in today and have lost 2lbs -not too bad i guess and its better than gaining.

Hope everyone is well. Today didn't go too great food wise, but I have firmly told myself off and will be trying extra hard tomorrow. I always do this, have 5 or so good days then one bad one! Makes me so annoyed at myself. Need to try and think of a way to help myself, like drink more water or something.
