Lose in December ...

Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

Morning @DownUdderer she sang a mix of Christmas songs and her hits from the eighties, Kids in America etc. It was really enjoyable. We didn’t realise last nights concert was the last concert of her Winter acoustics tour. She looked great!

Sounds like a fun show Busted.

I didn't go too nuts at dinner, friends and us both had kids with us who were getting restless so no time for dessert!

Weighed in today at 58.2kg/9st 2/128lbs. Lowest I've been in a long time. Thanks to you guys for the positive vibes and chat the last few months :)

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/12/2019 15:08

Well done @Galvantula

Sounds great @BustedDreams

Fires look horrific @DownUdderer Enjoy time off with DH.

I got on the scales and I'm 27.99lbs down in total so haven't gained anything in December, so far anyway!

DrDiva · 21/12/2019 21:40

Well done on losses!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of excess energy in a 7yo with a complex fracture of the arm, given especially that he is good at falling over at the best of times? Hmm Shock I’ve just realised that swimming, cycling, soft play and playgrounds are out for the next month.

SunshineCake · 21/12/2019 21:51

Wii?

DownUdderer · 21/12/2019 23:32

We’re very lucky that the fires are travelling away from us. The last week has been terrible with lots of houses lost. It’s so sad.

I snacked on everything in sight yesterday. I’m trying to get my head back in the game today. I’m going to have scrambled eggs for breakfast today and then I think I’ll head out for a walk. The temperature has dropped today.

fallfallfall · 22/12/2019 02:04

I navigated the buffet well, my downfall was after the meal at the host and hostesses home. 101 totally lovely little goodies to nibble on. The food was fine, the company lovely and it was a nice Christmas get together.
Yesterday I worked extra hard at the track and same today.
Not that I’m trying to out run a bad diet, my diet is never bad just using up extra calories.
Today I tried skipping rope. Only 50 jumps but it’s been a long while since I’ve skipped.
I hope the fire turns back onto itself downunder
Sorry dr diva, it’s been 25+ year since I’ve had a 7 year old underfoot.
busted it sounds like a lovely evening.
Each day now begins to get a tiny bit longer for those of us in the northern hemisphere.

DrDiva · 22/12/2019 04:03

Wii is not a bad idea, @SunshineCake! He doesn’t tend to fall over doing that!

And I might use up some calories too Grin

SunshineCake · 22/12/2019 19:21

Glad it was a good one, DrDiva

I'm the same weight but haven't gone up so taking it.

Earlier I got up to put the dish in the kitchen, slipped on the wooden floor, landed on my right hip and smashed my head against the sofa. No idea what I slipped on.

Tomorrow I'm having my assessment for my back injury I had six years ago after two more falls in October that made a lot worse..

DownUdderer · 22/12/2019 22:27

Sunshinecake that sounds painful.

We haven’t wrapped any presents. Why have we left it to the last minute? Agh!

fallfallfall · 23/12/2019 05:40

Hi everyone, I wish there was more I could offer other than positive thoughts. sunshine I hope your not in too much pain tomorrow.
downunder I made fabric bags using Christmas fabric (small pillowcase) which I then put individual items in and closed with ribbon. It made our lives much much easier.
I’m going to the track but equally being fed by my husband...pears just now, cheese earlier and tea with honey after lunch. Little stuff that adds up when your short and well past menopause :(.

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/12/2019 16:34

Sending big hugs @SunshineCake and @DownUdderer

SunshineCake · 23/12/2019 18:57

Hi everyone and thank you for your kindness. My appointment was cancelled. My hip isn't too bad but I've felt headaches and a bit out of it at times today.

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/12/2019 19:28

Oh no, rest up!

DownUdderer · 24/12/2019 07:43

Look after yourself sunshinecake.

Presents wrapped! Horsy!

I love sewing fallfallfall, the kids have fabric santa sacks but we still use wrapping paper too. I think that thinking about wrapping was worse than just wrapping.

I’ve had barbecued sausage and veggies for dinner. Tomorrow I’m just going to go with whatever happens! Then I’ll refocus the next day.

DH will barbecue again tomorrow and I’ll just avoid carbs.

SunshineCake · 24/12/2019 17:30

Hi everyone.

I'm so hungry and excitedly waiting for dinner as ds is making southern fried chicken and chips. Yum.

I've done a last shop, walked the dog, delivered a friends shopping, bathed the dog, done at least three wash loads, had a long advice chat with dd and made some cards. All I need to do now is take a family photo, paint my nails, make a plan for tomorrow's lunch and fill the stockings.

DrDiva · 24/12/2019 21:09

Ah the Xmas day barbecue, @DownUdderer I miss that! We used to go down to the beach for it.

Hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight @SunshineCake!

My poor DS has had a tummy bug, spent the afternoon throwing up and then crashed out in bed at 6:15. I hope he feels better in the morning, and hasn’t passed on the bug. At least we had time to finish wrapping. He has a Harry Potter obsession at the moment, so lots of themed presents!

Galvantula · 24/12/2019 21:25

Aw no DrDiva. We've had a bug here too. Oldest sick yesterday and been hot on and off since. Middle one had dodgy tummy earlier, hoping it's just excitement 🙈

Happy Christmas to you all, hope it's a good one.

And hope you feel better soon Sunshine that sounds painful!

fallfallfall · 24/12/2019 23:19

merry christmas everyone :)
some peace mixed in with a bit of mn worthy family drama BUT
i should be okay and not too affected.
we went to the track and got in our exercise. light breakfast and light lunch, i'm cooking up some beautiful steak tenderloins for supper.
all the presents were purchased and wrapped a while ago. dh and i each have a lovely box, each measures a good 8x8x8 inches and we simply fill it. then we received a few pressies (no clue what the are) that will be fun to open
our christmas day dinner is with friends starting at 3 pm, with the meal planned for 3:30 so we can visit (and judging by the time leave and be home at a reasonable hour ;) )
i suppose we will facetime with the family over the course of the day.
Peaceful thoughts everyone from my home to yours.

SunshineCake · 25/12/2019 07:55

Happy Christmas everyone and thank you for all your support, kindness and friendship to me.

I hope MiniDrDiva is feeling better this morning. I sleep until 4.30 then woke for a wee then again at 6.30 and couldn't go back to sleep as remembered a present was in the wrong place.

2/3 kids have emerged so I need to go and hide the stockings....
Thank you @Galvantula my hip is sore this morning but I'm hoping it will ease.

BustedDreams · 25/12/2019 11:29

MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU LOVELY LOT ❤️

Happy Christmas to you all, and thank you all for the sanctuary of this thread!

MiniDiva is much, much better today thank you. Not quite back to full appetite capacity, but puke-free and some energy back, and the ability to enjoy his presents. His Harry Potter obsession was well and truly assuaged.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/12/2019 20:30

Merry Christmas to you all. Thanks for your amazing support in the last few months.

Hope all the poorly children are better. DS also been ill since Saturday, but a lot better today!

DownUdderer · 26/12/2019 05:57

Merry Christmas, it's boxing day here. We've been to the beach and had a swim, it was lovely! I got a Fitbit for Christmas, I'm still figuring it out!

I didn't buy any chocolates for myself, so I didn't really have anything crazy yesterday. If I'd bought some I would have eaten them all!

I was a pound down this morning, I've lost 5 pounds this month. I'm surprised and happy.

Galvantula · 26/12/2019 12:22

I'm glad I did my pre Christmas eating less for a couple of weeks, put it that way. 🙈🐷

Far too much nice stuff around... Still half a very nice cheesecake in the fridge and I was bought a fair few sweet treats. I just need to make them last a while instead of eating them all while I'm off for another week!

Hope you all had a nice Christmas Day. It's a quiet boxing Day of new board games and Lego building so far, we'll be out visiting family and then friends all of the 27th and 28th though. More food to come Xmas Blush.

I'd rather enjoy myself a bit and just hope to get back to 'normal' soon. Not planning to put on 2kg like last year though Crown Shock

Our poorly DC are better, just a bit full of snot and grumpy!
