Lose in December ...

Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

Good Morning Peeps

The last day of the year/decade is upon us. This year has gone by so quickly.

@DownUdderer me you both. I’m also being extra mindful about what I eat and how much. Trying to get ahead for January’s goal of losing 7lbs. I’ve yoyod a bit December. Partly meds and partly chocolate Blush

I’m usually really optimistic and joyful at the thought of a brand new year/decade but I just can’t shake the sadness and helplessness I feel for the people and animals caught up in the Australian fires. Heartbreaking 😢

Normally I enjoy the fireworks in Sydney but this year I felt it was wrong to have gone ahead and just feel for the families who have lost relatives and their homes.

My BIL is in hospital after a suspected heart attack and my friend has just lost her nephew at 40 with a heart attack so it's really scared me and I am determined to do better. The kids are back to school and university on Monday so I'll start then when I have peace to make plans.

BustedDreams · 31/12/2019 15:19

@SunshineCake I totally empathise with you, it brings it home how fleeting life is when I dearest & dearest leave us, especially when they are relatively young. I lost my younger brother suddenly a couple of years ago. I’ve still to come to terms with it.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Busted Flowers.

BustedDreams · 31/12/2019 18:21

@SunshineCake thank you lovie. It was only a few weeks after losing my beloved in-laws and own DF so suddenly too. In fact the past 5 years has been the worst of our lives. We truly believe 2020’s can only get better Smile

I’ve been trying to donate to the Australian Red Cross but keep getting server error .... must be being inundated.

Will you stay up until midnight ? I'm not sure yet as well past my bedtime but DS has his girlfriend here and it feels rude to go to bed before she goes. Will have to find something good to watch to stay awake!

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/12/2019 20:55

Hi all, love to you all. I'm going to bed at normal time.

I've drunk the last of the Coke - going to go with water only as of tomorrow. Hoping to get back on track by this time next week. Going to meal plan tomorrow and get shopping and back to more normal eating.

fallfallfall · 31/12/2019 21:01

Hello. Last weigh in of the decade 152 on the button...
Still two pounds away from the elusive 150 then onto 149.
I’m sure I’ve improved my fitness though since October.
I need to know a bit more about the fires; here in the grasslands we too have large scale devastating fires BUT the grass fully recovers, and the ash refertilizes the ground.
Homes are rebuilt under insurance policies for the most part (although there were some scams in the ft mc Murray area) life including wildlife returns to normal.
I certainly pray it’s over soon.

Well I didn’t manage only one meal today, but I did only have two. A ham sandwich for lunch and the DH prawn and scallop dish for dinner.
I might have managed without lunch if DS hasn’t been there, but he does get quite upset if I don’t eat. And I admit I was hungry! At least it was an improvement on the last month.
Working from home tomorrow so will have to stay away from DS’s snack bin. (He is the apocryphal MN child who eats for Britain and remains stick thin. Grrr...)
