Lose in December ...

Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

@DownUdderer could you eel the heat/activity? I can’t stop thinking of the dreadful way the people will have died 😢. So tragic.

It’s the stuff of nightmares

Such horrid news Sad I cannot fathom why people were down there in the first place!

Hope you're all alright ladies, 2 weeks till Christmas Eve!

BustedDreams · 10/12/2019 14:13

@MrsJonesAndMe it’s truly dreadful 😢.

Hi everyone

I can't compute what those poor people went through on the volcano island SadFlowers. DH and I have climbed two volcanoes and he doesn't seem to think we were as close to a crater as I do but I remember steam definitely.

Couldn't weigh this morning but my long awaited TOTM has finally shown up. Would it be more productive if I weighed when it has finished? Will I be down? .

BustedDreams · 10/12/2019 20:33

That’s good news @SunshineCake 👍

This is one of the 4 Remembrance Angels 👼 I’ve made for one of our trees. I’ve also put some snowflakes and Christmas tree shaped decorated biscuits on too. I’d only just hung them when my dog went up to the tree and snaffled one Grin

OAN I’ve noticed today that gluten free pasta is less than half the calories and nearly half he carbs of wheat pasta. Win/Win. I’m making a gluten free lasagna later this week. Looking forward to it as not had any for months.

I got all excited then but it has rice flour in so can't have that.

Any thoughts on best option to weigh?

fallfallfall · 10/12/2019 22:36

sunshine regarding weight, best to take the brave step onto the scale and hope for the best. i suspect after a few days the abd bloating and the swollen breasts would be gone and mean a more accurate weight.
although i'm indulging on a sweet treat and about to make some meringue cookies (68 calories each) i'm feeling good and my weight continues to be slowly (.2) decreasing.
sunshine what are your intolerance's?

RubySlippers77 · 10/12/2019 22:38

@BustedDreams those angels are beautiful! We usually start off with some biscuits and chocolates on the tree and then the DC gradually 'help' to reduce the amount Grin

@Jollyholibobs it can be really tricky to find a low cal vege option as loads of them are stuffed with cheese - I have eaten many a spinach & ricotta cannelloni in my time!

@SunshineCake I hope you are feeling a bit better now? I'm still looking into intolerance test options but TBH it will probably have to wait till the New Year when I have a few more ££. I'm glad to hear it was useful for you though.

Nothing new to report here, I'm still struggling to get myself motivated. The cold weather has brought back really bad aches and pains that I first had when I had flu a couple of years ago and can't get rid of now; intense cold and/ or tiredness sends me straight back to painful joints and aching legs. Must look for some more soup recipes to keep myself on the straight and narrow!

DownUdderer · 11/12/2019 02:31

I’ve read that turmeric can help with aches and pains, some people have turmeric tea/coffee (not sure actually, I don’t drink tea or coffee so I’m unsure).

I think weigh yourself @SunshineCake, but be prepared for a gain, just in case. I think knowing might help.

I studied geography at university so I was thrilled to visit White Island, I had studied volcanoes so I just loved New Zealand. After the large earthquakes they’ve had over the last few years I’m mildly surprised that White Island didn’t come with a warning. However of course the USA has Yellowstone park that is geologically active and a huge tourist attraction. Italy has Stromboli which erupted not long ago, I’m not sure if people could climb it or not. I’m certainly very sad for those who’ve been hurt or killed.

The touristy areas near me will be struggling this summer because the bush fires are making people cancel their holidays. It’s understandable of course, but small businesses will struggle.

DownUdderer · 11/12/2019 02:31

I didn’t update with anything there! My food has been good and I’m happy with today’s weigh in!

SunshineCake · 11/12/2019 06:22

Hi everyone

Another bad nights sleep due to pain in my back and hip. The gel the doctor gave me has worked brilliantly for two weeks and now not so much. The leaflet says not to use for more than two weeks without the doctors advice but I don't know why. Pain killers aren't very effective and the heavier duty ones I have, having taken some I've now read the leaflet and aren't supposed to take as I have asthma.

I'm lactose free and not supposed to have haddock, prawns, rice, turmeric, wheat, leeks, onions and a few others I can't remember right now.

fallfallfall · 11/12/2019 23:59

thank you sunshine, so wheat; are rye, spelt, pumpernickel, barley etc okay?
onions is kind of challenging as it's used often for flavoring.
i hope you feel better soon.
i succumbed to a friggen fried doughnut...not even any apples in it so i could call it a fritter...deep fried and not even fabulous :(
anyway i'm sore from some extra exercise, i'm having fun at the track and expanding my activities...tried some wall ball...not looking like the gym bunnies though, need to perfect the technique.

BustedDreams · 12/12/2019 08:52

Morning Campers

Another day nearer Grin. I’m maintaining, which is better than gaining but a little loss would be nice.

Today’s the day in the uk, that’ll set the political landscape for the next few years. I hope people vote rather than feel powerless claiming their vote won’t change anything. It could change everything! Every vote matters!

Chicken & mushroom soup for lunch. Beef stew for later.

Hope you all have a great day.

SunshineCake · 12/12/2019 10:45

fallfallfall. The full list is currently aspartame, baked beans , haddock, plaice, leek, onions, prawns, rice, turmeric, wheat.

It is annoying but tbh I've been trying things as I'm getting bored of the same stuff and originally I had to avoid 30 things.

Couldn't weigh as Dd has the scales and I left to walk the dog at 7.20 and vote.

Just back from asthma review which didn't go well again but I can't have the test I need as lungs are too inefficient. Though I'm struggling with the peak flow so don't know if my technique is rubbish or lungs are poor. Probably both. Also blood test results weren't definitely okay so have to be reviewed again.

I'm emotionally okay though Shock as I've got a very busy day but I don't mind that as at least I know what I am doing.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

Galvantula · 12/12/2019 13:59

Hello.

I'm be off to vote when I go to pick up the DC from school.

I've not weighed for a few days. 😳 This is a sure sign of me knowing I've been over indulging.

We had a takeaway this week and some extra wine as I have a few days off work.

I've got some food in for low calorie lunches to try and keep it down a bit now.

I looked back at MFP and found that I stopped logging properly and put on 2 Christmas kilos last year. Shock

Definitely planning to avoid that this year.

Oops, I should really check when my asthma review is due Sunshine. Luckily mine is v mild these days and only triggered by allergies or especially by getting the cold.

DH is busy wrapping the presents while the kids are out. We're a bit organised this year!

Meringues made and dipped. New recipe and a couple infrequently used techniques.
The flavour of the raw batter (the raw egg whites have yet to give me issues) was spot on amazing.
I can do a light supper as we are hosting lunch for friends and I will over indulge in pizza.
Weight okay, muscles still retaining water.

BustedDreams · 12/12/2019 23:45

They look delish @fallfallfall 😋. Enjoy your lunch.

@Galvantula I’m the same in that if I’ve accidentally on purpose not got around to weighing it’s because I know I’m going to be up. Although I’ve been really on it so far this week but feel very bloated. I know it’s down to pain meds (avoid as much as I can but had a really bad migraine). Not long left of this year but doing all I can to be under my magic number before 2020 (10 stone). I was offered a piece of chocolate today and I refused looks proud.

@SunshineCake it must be so difficult for you!

I’ve been out and had a nice hike across the beach. I’m feeling good, making good food choices. Drinking heaps of water. I’ve got 8lbs to go until target weight, I’ve got 4.5 weeks until my birthday! I’m hoping to reach target for my birthday present to myself!

Galvantula · 13/12/2019 09:46

Oo they look nice fall.

So as I suspected.. Up a lb. Blush

Ok new target... Stay under 60kg to the end of the year (and beyond). Xmas Smile

SunshineCake · 13/12/2019 17:52

I'm definitely weighing tomorrow. Send emergency weight loss vibes please Grin.

ckc45d10 · 13/12/2019 18:18

@posterDownUdderer yes, turmeric may support a healthy inflammation response, however, supplement forms absorb better than ordinary spice food form.

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/12/2019 21:08

Hi all, still around. Weight has gone up a bit, but still 12.2kg so happy enough. Had Chinese tonight, so really need to get back on track Blush

biscuits look good @BustedDreams and meringues @fallfallfall

Extra (((hugs))) @SunshineCake for the physical and emotional stuff - that is a lot to deal with!

fallfallfall · 13/12/2019 23:27

Hi ladies, working out loads still and trying for that perfect lower cal but healthy meal plan.
This is what I did with my four left over egg yolks following the meringues.
Sweet potato, egg cups.
