Lose in December ...

Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

They look very nice @fallfallfall.

I'm in shock. I'm down a bit. Can't exactly remember but it's a loss of between 1.5 and 3.5 lbs.

Going out soon as ds shut the garage door and sliced the wire of the new Christmas lights. The new lights that were to replace the ones that dh cut the wire off last year with scissors....

Galvantula · 14/12/2019 19:34

They look tasty fall. 😋

Well done sunshine :) Oops your lights aren't having much luck!

I was back down a little this morning, I've packed a healthy lunch up for work tomorrow. 💪💪 Also I've turned down joining DH with a beer or wine.

No more alcohol until work is finished for the year next Friday....

Octopus37 · 14/12/2019 21:29

How is everyone doing? Not finding it very easy tbh as going out quite a lot with friends over the next few days. Haven't been eating healthily, but haven't been going crazy either. Up a pound or so, so prob only down about one and a quarter pounds for December, just want to feel reasonable for my birthday on 9th Jan, so going to try not to go mad. Feel a bit weird emotionally, up and down, always seems to be lots going on, life very busy etc. Have been off my AD's completely now for a couple of weeks, think its fair to say that my tear ducts work again, my body just needs to catch up and realise that its got a metabolism lol. SunshineCake how are you feeling?

DownUdderer · 15/12/2019 03:06

I’m maintaining my weight this week, I’m down 3lb for December. I’ve let a few snacks pass my lips this weekend.

The kids have three more days of school left, I’m glad because they’re tired.

I’ve got steak for dinner and I’ll have steamed veggies.

BustedDreams · 15/12/2019 13:24

My beautiful loving loyal empathic dog 🐶 has gone over the Rainbow 😢.

Aw Busted, sorry to hear that. :(

fallfallfall · 15/12/2019 21:00

Oh my heart breaks for you Busted
Was it expected?

fallfallfall · 15/12/2019 21:02

I didn’t discover roasted red peppers early in life, well into my 40’s. I love learning new techniques so I’ve included the recipe which tells you how to roast and peel them.
Roasted red peppers are an excellent meat substitute in sandwiches.

I am so sad to read you have lost your dog @BustedDreams. it's so heartbreaking when our furry friends leave us. We lost three pets in six months seven years ago and two pets last months. Feel free to tell us about him if you wish.

Up 1.5lbs today from yesterday. Don't really think I could have put that much on. Doing everything wrong though.

DrDiva · 15/12/2019 21:30

So sorry @BustedDreams Sad Flowers 🐶

I baked for visitors this weekend and didn’t even feel like having any. Loads of tea, though!

BustedDreams · 16/12/2019 08:04

Thank you for your kind words. He was a much loved family pet, not old but dicky heart. Thought we’d have him longer. He was a very clever and humorous character who made us laugh every single day. He is very much missed. He died in his sleep, a peaceful end. My other 2 are looking for him 😢.

@fallfallfall your sweet potato egg cups look lush! Thank you for the red pepper recipe.

Didn’t eat much at all yesterday for all the wrong reasons. Feel bloated though, which doesn’t make sense to me. Today’s menu is mushroom soup for lunch, lasagne & salad later. Doing the guest room a deep clean in preparation for guests.

Wishing you all a great day.

Sorry your dog died, it sounds like a peaceful passing though.

I’ve eaten sensibly today. Sushi (sashimi), stir fry for dinner.

I had a really long walk today, 9km. My legs are really aching!

RubySlippers77 · 16/12/2019 14:27

Thank you for the recipe tips @fallfallfall! I am desperately in need of a big shop and loads of fresh veg but have picked just the wrong time of year to do it Confused

Very sorry to hear about your dog @BustedDreams. I was dog walking today (via a charity) and it was such a joy, made me remember how nice it can be simply to go for a walk. We only have a grumpy cat who spends as much time as possible on her own! The dog I was walking was full of bounce and enthusiasm, loved everyone and everything, and I could completely see how his owner would miss him desperately if they were parted. (His owner is an elderly lady who has developed arthritis, she contacted the charity to see if anyone could help walk him so she wouldn't have to give him up). It sounds like your dog had a lovely life with a very loving family and you should be proud of giving him that.

@DownUdderer my step count is well up today with the dog walking, I think I may seize up by tonight!!

fallfallfall · 16/12/2019 17:00

Starting the week at 151.6. My chart shows a slow gradual weight loss.
Some salty stuff yesterday.
Now the gym is closed till the new year and I’ve got 3 meal invites over the next 2+ weeks...
PS the soup is 61 calories a serving 😉

I'm stuck.

Up a pound two days running.

Back to full on no intolerance foods Sad .

Galvantula · 16/12/2019 19:19

Slow and steady fall 👍

Here's my last 6 months with highlights 😂

Galvantula · 16/12/2019 19:28

It's frustrating sunshine. I'm currently trying to at least maintain (the illness loss) as I'm finding losing more of a challenge.

SunshineCake · 16/12/2019 19:39

I'd take maintaining Sad.

DownUdderer · 17/12/2019 01:08

I’ve just had my breakfast, I had Greek yogurt. I’ll have a salad for lunch and chicken thighs for dinner cooked in the oven with tinned tomatoes and peppers and courgette.

BustedDreams · 17/12/2019 08:05

Morning Campers

I’m finding it really hard to maintain never mind lose. Food is so wrapped up in getting together with friends and family. If you don’t want to feel left out or thought of as a grinch you just go with the flow. Take yesterday for example. We had family visit who we’d not seen for a while. Cue ... food, treats, drink ... It’s just how we show love and gratitude to those we hold dear. I also don’t want to offend by refusing gifts or offered treats. I did do damage limitation, so I had a cup of tea when others had Baileys Lattes. I only a sliver of cake and I only had one chocolate when offered. I think that’s my stance for the rest of December.... damage limitation.

Have a good one whatever you’re up to.

BustedDreams · 17/12/2019 11:09

Dr Micheal Mosley advocates the following to minimise damage/maintain over the festive period:-

  • Stick to low-carb, Med-style foods.

  • Aim for at least one, if not two, fasting days per week.
    use TRE most days.

  • Keep up with your exercise.

  • Practice mindfulness when socialising.

  • Enjoy time with family and friends.

  • Definitely savour a glass of red or two!

Sounds doable :)

At the start of December I was 12st 13. Now 12st 10. The only difference is I've been super busy, and I'm a boredom eater.

Perhaps I need to find more things to do with my time to stop me from eating!

SunshineCake · 17/12/2019 17:47

I went out today with a list of food I could eat avoiding the things I am intolerant too. Came home with two things - pasta and cheese. The cheese is horrible Sad.

BustedDreams · 17/12/2019 22:00

Great @SunshineAngel! Being busy is an effective strategy.

Bless ya @SunshineCake. It sounds so difficult for you. Sorry I don’t have any answers for you.

OP posts:
DownUdderer · 18/12/2019 01:44

I’m maintaining at the moment. I’m finding the last few pounds the hardest to lose.
