Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

Hi, please could I join too?

It's been a fairly disastrous couple of years in terms of (planned!) weight loss but I think I've now got to the bottom of what's making me feel rotten a lot of the time..... wheat intolerance seems to be the cause of my symptoms. Which is quite annoying as I love bread, cakes etc but perhaps will finally help me to lose some lb's!

I've hoovered up eaten some panettone this evening and can definitely feel more snottiness and wheeziness coming on. How annoying. Really will have to re-think my diet plan as it seems to be getting worse every time I eat some wheat.

@BustedDreams I don't have a gin (or indeed, any) advent calendar but I would have loved one Grin

SunshineCake · 01/12/2019 22:25

PMK as off to bed.

I can't remember what I weight November 1st so if anyone knows do please tell me !

BustedDreams · 01/12/2019 23:27

@SunshineCake what’s PMK? I can’t remember your weight in November ... for that matter I can’t remember mine either Grin I’m so forgetful at times.

@RubySlippers77 hi, you’re more than welcome to join us. Nice group of ladies here. On reading your bio, and in regards to you saying you feel snotty & wheezy after certain foods. Have you considered dairy or lactose intolerance?

OAN for anyone who uses Instagram... when it says on a post link in bio ... where do you look 👀. I click the posters header and I just go around in circles and disappear down a worn hole. cheftomkerridge has posted some pictures of his dishes and it says recipe link in bio 🤷‍♀️ Looked every where. No sign. TIA

I've had a bad day here with food. Two hot dogs in buns, two pork pies, crackers, fancy bread and cheeses. So nothing of any substance or nutritional value but I am going to check out a kickboxing class at half nine tomorrow so fingers crossed its something I like and would be able to attend.

DownUdderer · 02/12/2019 03:14

I don’t know with instagram, I’ve joined but I don’t have the app yet!

I’ve had a lovely hike on the beach, so that uses lots of energy. I’ve eaten pretty good things yesterday, and I had a shop bought pie for lunch today, yum.

I’ve got a much more predictable and regular TOTM now, compared to before I lost weight! Isn’t funny that food can effect our inner workings.

fallfallfall · 02/12/2019 04:55

as awful as it was it did get me to the track and pool. i put in extra effort.
i paid attention and should be under 1200 on calories.
no sugar and lots of protein and fiber.

SunshineCake · 02/12/2019 06:31

@BustedDreams PMK is placemark.

Jollyholibobs · 02/12/2019 06:58

I am 12lbs heavier than I was this time last year. Steady gain all year really if I am honest with myself 🙁

Looking forward to porridge for breakfast salad for lunch need a plan for dinner as that’s where it all goes wrong. I come in tired and hungry and eat too much of the wrong stuff.

Barsh · 02/12/2019 07:19

New month but resolved to carry on with more veg. Less wine. 1lb down from last week. And people have noticed.

BustedDreams · 02/12/2019 07:53

@ConfusedAndStressed95 don’t be to hard on yourself. It is really difficult at this time of year. You had cheese that must count for something, it has calcium, protein & vitamins. Put it behind you and move on.

@DownUdderer hike on the beach sounds great. Is it really hot still or has it cooled a bit. I agree with what we put in ur bodies affects how they work. Glad you’re seeing positive change.

@SunshineCake thank you, not seen it written before.

@fallfallfall hope you see the result you want. You are working so hard.

@Jollyholibobs that must be upsetting for you. It’s easier to be in denial than it is to face it and take responsibility. A couple of years ago I did the former to a tune of over 3 stone Blush now I’m in doing the latter. Well done on taking the step to change. Try to imagine how you’ll look and feel this time next year depending on which path you take. You’re in charge, boss it!

@Barsh welcome and well done.

Yesterday I succumbed to home made rice pudding. OH has been asking me for ages to make him some. The delicious aroma permeated the whole house. I only had a small portion but that was enough to take me over 1200 calories which I haven’t been over for a long time. The left overs went in the bin so I haven’t got it in the house now. On the bright side I slept well, which I tend to do on carb heavy foods.

Today is leftover chicken roast dinner and home made chicken soup for lunch. I regularly read articles like this to aid motivation. It always reads simpler than what’s its like in reality. I also have my Pinch of Nom books out on the dining table. I have quite a few books on healthy eating/cook books etc and always have a couple out so it’s easy to read snippets and gain inspiration.

Hope you all have a great day.

@BustedDreams re Instagram. If you click on the person's name/profile pic, there should be a bit of blurb when you get to their 'homepage' bit whether you see all their photos. Link should be in the blurb!

That made sense when I thought it....

Galvantula · 02/12/2019 07:59

Here's a random company I clicked on. You can see they have a webpage link in the text between the profile pic and the photos below?

BustedDreams · 02/12/2019 08:36

Thank you @Galvantula, yes that makes perfect sense. I think the link in the one I was on was broken because I kept going round in a loop. I’ll go back and have another go.

Still maintaining since last week, which is ok with me as I enjoyed some nice food and wine at the weekend Grin. So starting December at 59kg.

I'm going to keep up with the good eating as much as possible this month, even though there will be treats all over! Maybe aiming to maintain and any loss a bonus is a sensible aim. :)

I'm eating breakfast and lunch in the canteen today, probably porridge for breakfast and i'll check out the menu for lunch but most likely soup or a filled wrap. Need to try and remember to put together a packed lunch before bedtime...

Galvantula · 02/12/2019 08:44

ooh @BustedDreams - do enjoy Kim Wilde. I am old enough to remember her Grin

BustedDreams · 02/12/2019 10:14

Posted pic for the uninitiated Grin

It was an accidental find @Galvantula. We generally attend a few carol concerts and this popped up so thought we’d give it a whirl. For a few years Kim has been running a gardening business, quite sought after I do believe.

@Galvantula healthy start weigh in! Mine is up a bit but I know why.

Galvantula · 02/12/2019 10:42

@Jollyholibobs I ended up on this thread after a steady year of gaining too. Blush Even though I was tracking most of the time on MFP it had kind of slipped. I'm enjoying the supportive chat here :)

BustedDreams · 02/12/2019 10:52

@Jollyholibobs I wasn’t being harsh I hope you didn’t read it as being harsh.

A bit down from last week, 9st8 and a quarter. Will weigh again in three days and update.

BustedDreams · 02/12/2019 12:30

Meal prep for Chicken & Mushroom soup. Will do 2 days lunches for 2 of us. I know not everyone has the time to invest but if you do it’s a great low fat, low carb nutritious lunch. The chicken carcass was simmered to make a base stock.

@Octopus37 great progress!

@BustedDreams, thanks but I’m also having cheese and deli meats for lunch today or they’ll go off and I can’t afford to waste food. I’m just making sure to have lots of veg sticks as well. I have been kickboxing though this morning so I’m exhausted. But I feel less guilty. I’m currently planning a menu for student Christmas meal with friends.

BustedDreams · 02/12/2019 15:43

@ConfusedAndStressed95 no need to apologise. I’m sorry if I sounded bossy, it wasn’t intended :)

Life hasn’t been very good to me the last week but I’m on the upward curve and I’ve figured some stuff out.
I haven’t had much appetite though.
I hopped on the scales tonight and I’m the lightest I’ve been in almost a year and a half and that’s the evening weight! I will weigh in properly on Saturday but if I keep this up I could hit my comfort zone by Christmas I think.

SunshineCake · 02/12/2019 19:24

I am so confused. I weighed in lbs while wearing my pyjamas.

Then I weighed myself in stones and pounds with nothing on as the first weight was a slight loss. The second weight was a 1.5 lb ish gain

Confused.
