on a personal note, do you use a sports bra at the gym? where did you get it? Also gym gear?Apparently any one bigger than a size d and fatter than a 16 dont need to exercise as I cant find any good stuff

bran · 11/10/2004 03:10

Honestly, I go away for a little while and suddenly this thread is full of talk about cake and croutons . Even I have had cake (chocolate cake at that ), we visited some friends in Manly the day after their son's birthday so we had to have some cake. Why is it that if you ask for a small piece the person cutting it always makes it extra large . I've been trying to do lots of walking to make up for the vast amounts I've been eating, but I think it's still going to be a horrible when I get back on the scales in London.

It's great to see some newbies on this thread, the more the merrier. Hopefully we won't all be here too long, although if I put back on everything I've lost whenever I go on holiday I could be on this thread for ever!

glitterfairy · 11/10/2004 07:06

Lets hope you are on the thread even as a slim Bran as Champs and I cant keep it going on our own for ever!

Champs Evans does sports gear and bras. If thye havent got the right size ask them!

Never mind had a seriously bad day yesterday as discovered praline flakes!

SusiS · 11/10/2004 14:56

glitter: did you get the beating at the gym

Gingerbear · 11/10/2004 15:13

Refering back to an earlier post on this thread, I once heard Nigella on a talk show. She has 32H boobs!

glitterfairy · 11/10/2004 20:01

No susi sorry poor joke was referring to Beetroot who I met up with and gave me a Beeting for eating a crouton!

OP posts:
champs · 11/10/2004 22:54

gingerbear-- real? wow!

Susi--- You are very wise glitter unleashed is not pretty (but it does keep me in check)

glitter--- your humour is getting nearly as bad as mine. I'll check out evans' sport bra not too keenon their track bottoms tho, they tend to flare at the knee and stop above my ankles!!

bran · 12/10/2004 08:51

If Evans don't have what you want Champs, I used Lessbounce and I thought they had a reasonable range. It's a bit fiddly to navigate on their site though, so it might be easier to phone them.

We arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4.30 this morning [tired emoticon], and we are staying with the dreaded mil who is already organising our lives. (She means well, but I can only take it for a couple of days at a time) Everybody has noticed that dh has lost weight, but mil only said (within my hearing, not to my face) that "Bran hasn't put on any weight this time" . If I can make it through this week without resorting to chocolate then I'll know I'm cured of the addiction forever. Whips at the ready please!

glitterfairy · 12/10/2004 09:10

Bran kill her and eat her and dont eat chocolate! Sounds like a fab holiday so far dont let the old trout ruin it for you! Mils honestly the only problem is that one day I may be one . I expect I will try to be good but will be as bad as the rest. Am hoping my son is gay as that way I will never have to worry!

Champs - LOL at the track suit bottoms to be honest I dont care and will go to the gym in anything

OP posts:
bran · 12/10/2004 10:37

To be fair to the old trout Glitterfairy, I haven't been to KL for almost 2 years, so it's quite possible that I'm the same weight now as I was when she last saw me. To be honest I think the trouble with MILs in general is not so much how they behave as how dhs behave when around their mothers. So what annoys me most is not that she gives unsolicited advice (because lots of people do that) but that dh automatically follows the advice and allows his days here to be planned by her.

It could be much worse though, she could live on the same continent as us . I'm used to it now and it doesn't bother me as much as it used to, and I always insist on a 'proper' holiday to be included in every trip to Malaysia.

monkeygirl · 12/10/2004 11:05

Can I join you lovely ladies? I've been meaning to for ages as I have plenty of motivation but absolutely no willpower . I have about 6 + stones to lose, 1 stroppy dd 'threenager' and a 4 month ds so I need some serious hand-holding!

bran · 12/10/2004 11:18

Hi MG, welcome. I'm the last person to talk about willpower as I am on holiday at the moment and eating as though it was an olympic event , but the others will get the whips out when I get back and that is very motivating I can tell you. You and I have about the same amount to loose I think. Before my holiday I had lost 13.5 pounds with Weight Watchers, and I have another 6 stone to go. I reckon it will take just over a year if I'm good, so in reality about 18 months.

What are you thinking to doing to lose the weight? Most people on this thread are doing a different type of diet so there will be lots of advice available whatever you decide. In the meantimes STOP eating the kids' leftovers, I know you're doing it, just put them in the bin.

woodpops · 12/10/2004 11:24

Sorry if I'm butting in here but I found the best thing for the kids leftovers is an economy bottle of washing up liquid. THe minute they're finished cover the palte in it that way you can't pick!!!!

monkeygirl · 12/10/2004 11:34

Have you got a little camera in my kitchen?? Hold on, that would be a great idea actually and then you could yell at me everytime my hand inched towards something naughty!

Well I've kind of tried WW but I just can't be bothered counting all those points (or maybe the way they added up used to depress me). Before I got pregnant with ds I'd lost 2 stones in 5 months by cutting down portion sizes, eating less crap and most importantly going to the gym and I think that's what I'll try again. My only problem is I can't afford the gym at the moment (and I'm one of those weirdoes who actually likes going!) and I'm finding it difficult exercising and coping with the kids atm but I really need to find a way round that.

Congratulations on your weight-loss btw - you must have some willpower! And holidays are diet exclusion zones aren't they ...

monkeygirl · 12/10/2004 11:36

Great idea Woodpops. Hopefully I wouldn't be able to scrape it off either

bran · 12/10/2004 11:41

Yes, just posting on this thread enables me to see through your computer into your kitchen, I know EVERYTHING.

woodpops · 12/10/2004 11:47

I even had to put washing up liquid on if I was just taking the leftovers to the bin as I'd pick at them then as well. It's not a problem at the minute though as the diet I'm now on is total meal replacement so no food is to pass my lips and I'm pleased to say no food has passed my lips in 2½ weeks. I even cooked roast lamb and allthe trimmings last night. My fave.

monkeygirl · 12/10/2004 11:53

Omg Woodpops, are you starving the whole time or do they fool you into thinking you're not hungry or something? Have you lost loads of weight?

woodpops · 12/10/2004 12:05

I've not been hungry at all MG to my total suprise. Even better though I've lost 19lbs in 2 weeks!!!! My clothes are hanging off me.

monkeygirl · 12/10/2004 12:09

.

I think your thread must be the Lighterlife one?? I shall have a look later as I've got to go off and collect dd from nursery now.

Congratulations btw and yet again !

woodpops · 12/10/2004 12:11

That's the one.

champs · 13/10/2004 00:40
