Hi Glitter!!

glitterfairy · 21/11/2004 09:07

HI guys just dropping in to say well done Champs! Bran, you have done so well so far it will come off. Sometimes I think it is just one of those weeks though when your body stops losing and just puts on a bit of water!

OP posts:
bran · 21/11/2004 10:52

Hello all. Essbee - I hope you ate something as well as drinking all that red wine otherwise you must have been really pissed on an empty stomach, at least red wine is full of anti-oxidants so it't better than some other forms of alcohol .

How are you doing Monkeygirl - did you find it hard to stop eating chocolate after a big binge on it? I've had to give it up completely as if I have any at all then I crave it for the next few days, and the cravings are horrible it makes me much more sympathetic to people giving up smoking. I am planning a big chocolate binge day sometime, it'll be cold and rainy and I'll wrap myself in a fleecy blanket on the sofa, watch my Northern Exposure dvd and eat SusyWongs brownie recipe (the whole tray of brownies if I can manage it .

Glitterfairy - you're very kind about the water gain, but I had eaten too much and drunk too much wine so it was a fair cop. I'm being very good this week, although still not exercising as much as I should. I have resolved to take the stairs to my flat (5th floor), but somehow habit takes over and I often find myself standing in the lift without realising. How are you doing with your renewed fitness campaign?

champs · 21/11/2004 17:21

thanks glitter!! so good t hear from you!! hope all is well with you and fam.
bran-- at least you know why you put on and can work harder next week, i hate the times when I work so hard and either lose nothing or gain!! Lets make this week a good one.

glitterfairy · 21/11/2004 18:01

Bran LOL about the stairs. the lift wasnt working at work the other week and we climbed four flights all wekk and I felt much better. we kept saying how much better it was for us and that when the lift was mended we wouldnt take it. Life is now mended and guess what we are using it again.

Ok, I feel like the naughty school truant who has decided to come back and confess that I did it (or rather didn't in my case). Am I the worse here - I just can't seem to get going? And yes Bran, choccy incident led to relapse. I just can't have it in the house. I have some good days but always manage to ruin it all by the end of the week. So it's back to starting again or giving up - ho hum, I will try again and try and take inspiration from you all.

Champs - sounded like he deserved more than the 'finger' - hope you weren't too shaken by the whole thing.

woodpops · 22/11/2004 08:19

Morning all, I lost another 4½lb last week. Trouble is I'm starting to find picking tempting. I haven't yet, but the urge to put something in my mouth and eat is sooooooooo tempting. Another problem is Xmas dinner, should I have it or not?? Dh has said I've got to have it or he won't have any. So I now feel I have to have it. I'm just really worried that if I start to eat I won't stop and all this hard work to loose the flamning weight will have been a waste of time and money!!!!

woodpops · 22/11/2004 14:13

Is no one dieting this week?? I could reqally do with some support. Have just driven past pork farms and a pizza factory and the smells wafting into my car were yum.

monkeygirl · 22/11/2004 17:08

Woodpops - you must have had temptation in your way a thousand times since you lost that weight but you have never crumbled so well done - I am in awe. Concentrate on that fact. How much more have you got to go by the way?

As for eating Xmas dinner - well you have to eat 'proper' food eventually don't you but that would be a helluva way to start - I think Xmas time is one of the 'scariest' times for us dieters as there are sooo many temptations for an extended period. So many hold off and have a separate 'Xmas' dinner with your dh which isn't too naughty when you reach your goal?? Or just allow yourself that one day to eat some proper food? What do Lighterlife say then?

bran · 22/11/2004 17:39

I'm dieting this week Woodpops, I'm not having too bad a week this week. I've decided to get very strict with myself about sugar and refined carbs and now that I haven't had any for a couple of days I'm having fewer cravings. Congrats on continuing wonderful weightloss .

Lol at you driving past a pig farm and being tempted, I think pig farms smell so bad that I can barely breathe if I go past one. Mind you that was in Ireland, perhaps English pig-sh*t smells sweeter .

Perhaps your LighterLife counsellor might let you move onto the next stage of the diet a little early so that you can have Christmas dinner, at least then it will be a controlled way to eat. You'll probably find that you won't be able to eat very much real food anyway as your digestive system is now used to liquid food. Don't worry about putting the weight back on, we will whip you back into shape if you do . Whatever, I think you should stop torturing youself with whether or not to eat Christmas dinner. Either talk to your counsellor and make a decision this week, or decide to make you decision on a particular date before Christmas and don't think about it before then. I suspect that constantly thinking about this issue is making you uncertain and that might be cause of your temptation to nibble.

Monkeygirl, don't eat chocolate . I gave it up and I have to admit it was horribly difficult and I needed lots of support, especially from this thread. It took about 3 weeks to get completely out of my system, but the first week or two were definitely the worst. You're really prolonging your suffering because you eat chccolate just before the cravings start to subside so the cravings go on week after week. If you can't give it up completely then you could try eating a very small amount every second day rather than than having a huge binge every week or so. Don't give up though, you can definitely do it.

Bran not a pig farm. I not quite that desperate yet. It was pork farms so I could smell them cooking all of the sausage rolls and pork pies. I don't even like pork pies!!!!!

Well done everyone with your weight losses. We should add up what everyone on this thread has lost up to now.

I was really struggling with my water this weekend but I seem to be back on track with it now. I managed 5 litres yesterday and I've already done 1½ litres today. Better dash though, I need a wee now

PuffTheMagicDragon · 23/11/2004 09:10

Lost a pound this week. Don't know how - it been a really crap week.

woodpops · 23/11/2004 09:18

Well done puff.

bran · 23/11/2004 16:35

I am sooooo sad , I can't believe how obsessive I'm getting. Last night as I was loading washing in the the machine I noticed that my jeans (which I was wearing at the last weigh-in where I gained 1 lb) seem heavy in comparison to my other trousers, so I weighed them. It turns out that they are almost 0.8 lbs heavier than my other trousers. I used to wonder why others bothered taking off shoes etc to get weighed, and now I'm actually considering not wearing my jeans tomorrow to make sure I've lost some weight.

champs · 24/11/2004 01:08

hi all!! have been soooo busy this week.
monkeygirl-- he did deserve more the rotter!! bran is right about the choc btw, it will take a while for you to get it out of your system but once you get it out you wont want it. I had to give it up because I couldn't do it in moderation. But it is improtant to allow yourself some treats or a little of what you fancy when you're dieting as it helps to keep on board. So why not plan a day/time when you will have some and you can add it to the total for that day.

woodpops-- please dont stress, you are doing so well with your weightloss, I am sooo tempted to try LL, Dh sounds a bit like mine. he feels i'm depriving myself and says he doesn't like havin takeaway when i dont have any. He prob just wants to share Christmas meal with you. talk to your councellor(sp)

Dior-- Hi thanks for the motivation!! not doing as well as i could, will try much harder tomorow

bran-- lol@pig farm!!! don't wear the jeans!! wear something extra light. I remember my old WW leader used to say we should get weighed in the same things so we would get a good idea how we done. I weigh myself in me birthday suit

champs · 24/11/2004 01:08

forgot to add, well done puff!!

woodpops · 24/11/2004 09:42

Bran, what were you thinking?? I never go to be weighed in jeans. They weigh loads. Get those summer trousers out of the cupboard!!!

monkeygirl · 24/11/2004 11:23

I have a question for those of you who go to a weekly weigh-in - do you never weigh yourself at home in between meetings? If not, how do you resist not jumping on the scales in the mornings??

Bran and Champs - yes you are right, choc is back off the menu (well except for an occasional milky way perhaps - only about 50 cals I think and seem to satisfy a bit of a choc hit I've discovered) - I'm really trying cos you are all leaving me behind!

woodpops · 24/11/2004 12:16

MG, I threw my scales out a long, long time ago so I genuenly (sp) go to my weekly weigh ins having no idea of how I've done. I think if I had some in the house I'd become obsessive about them. Weighing myself in the morning with jim jams on, jim jams off, clothes on, before a wee after a wee and so on. I think my house is best without them at the minute

jnbsmum · 24/11/2004 14:25

Well 4 1/2 lbs off this week. a total of 13lbs in 5 weeks. I feel so happy even though im so far waway from goal. I actually told dh how much i weigh last night. He was so supportive. I think thats made me feel better too.
Well done to everyone. Looks like everyone is doing so well.
Mg.. i dont have any scales at home either. i wont buy any too cause i also would be using them 20+ times a day.
Hope everyone is ok.
