Of course you didn't sound "funny", sorry if that's the way it came across. Typing things never quite gets the right impression across, does it . I should have rechecked my original message to see if all the information I thought was on it really was!!!

And trying to convince myself to get back onto my diet in the process too - if you thought you were a bloater you haven't seen what my scales say

champs · 17/10/2004 21:43

lol you two!! WWB--- why dont you join us? we all have a way to go. And are certainly helping each other along the way (that and a pair of trustee whips!!) And I too have troublesome scales, we have a love hate relationship... they love to tell me my weight and I hate looking

WigWamBam · 17/10/2004 22:43

Esbee - yes, you should eat! It really doesn't sound as if you're getting enough to eat, and if your last few postings are anything to go by, it sounds as if you're not getting protein or carbs in your diet either, which won't do your body any good at all. Do you have rice or pasta with your stir-fries? Both quick and easy to cook!

Champs, thanks for the invitation to join you, it was the first thing I thought of when I got up this morning (yes, I need to get out more)!. I am the archetypal failed dieter, I've done every diet there is, yo-yoed more times than I care to think about, and each time the weight always comes back bringing reinforcements with it . The only thing that worked for me was Rosemary Conley (I think it was the exercise rather than the diet) but my instructor had a baby, gave it up and I didn't get on with her replacement at all (she picked on me horribly). I can't get out to any other RC classes because I don't have wheels and they're all too far away.

I'm at least 10 stone overweight, which I think is one of the things that keeps putting me off really trying to shift it - I know it's going to take such a lot to get rid of it and without the support of a class it's hard to get started again and keep the impetus going. I've also been overweight for most of my adult life, and sometimes it feels safer this way - I know that sounds crazy but it's all I know. But I need to shift it, for the sake of my health and to be able to run around with my daughter, so here I am - I have weighed myself this morning, and I'm really going to make an effort to start losing again.

Whips are good by the way! I can warn you now, I will probably need the odd whipping (and if you're not using it sometimes, can I borrow it to use on my husband)

moniker · 18/10/2004 17:02

hi again everyone! I'm doing OK at the mo - have lost 4 pounds over the last couple of weeks more through exercise than diet I think but am really pleased. I do RC wigwam but have a lovely instructor who is really encouraging to everyone - I'm sure it make all the difference.

am still dreaming about chocoalte brownies though - might have to given in, make them and eat the lot to get rid of them - whad'ya think??!!

monkeygirl · 18/10/2004 17:21

Moniker - do not, repeat, to not make any chocolate brownies. I made that mistake and my dd didn't get a look in with them cos they are so moreish! But well done on your weight loss.

I've been away this weekend with old college friends so I wasn't exactly good, ahem, she said exaggerating just a tiny bit (yes all right I ate and drank for England!). So whip me now !

BTW didn't know this was an SM club . Losing weight can be fun!

WigWamBam · 18/10/2004 17:24

Moniker - don't do it! Don't do it! You know you'll hate yourself if you do.

btw, you're right about the encouragement thing - my original RC instructor was lovely but her replacement really took against me and would haul me up in front of the class for everything from not eating enough to working too hard in class! I wish there was another class I could get to, but not possible at the moment.

HIya Moniker if you make those brownies I will know!

Champs how are you hon? Everyone else hiya and essbee eat more {shouting smiley with whip] who is usually shy as its the other way round on here normally.

Guys I need a good kicking at the moment as am abit low and feeling in need of chocolate!

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 18/10/2004 20:34

Stick yer bum out glitterfairy so I can apply my size 8s. You don't really want that chocolate you know, it wouldn't do you any good at all.

monkeygirl · 19/10/2004 11:22

GF - how are you feeling - did you succomb?? Don't feel bad if you did though. I remember reading about someone who lost 6 stone and they used to eat a creme egg every night. You just have to stop that 'well I've had some so I might as well have lots more' (and I'm talking about me here but do others feel the same?) attitude and just allow yourself some and not feel guilty.

glitterfairy · 19/10/2004 19:08

Yep that is the real problem once you start you cant stop I am ill at the moment adn have been working too hard but haev a few days of rest coming up so am going to take to my bed, rest and then get up with fresh enthusiasm!

OP posts:
monkeygirl · 19/10/2004 19:13

Lock yourself in with some 'good' treats, a good book and a hot flask of drink so that you don't have to keep going into the kitchen and get yourself better to fight the good fight!

glitterfairy · 19/10/2004 19:16

Thanks monkeygirl! cant even get to the gym. Moniker if you are reading this I need to cancel thursday please as need to take to my bed! Sorry will email you too.

Hello everyone, I'm back. My holiday souvenirs are lots of mozzie bites, a nasty rash and several extra pounds (I'll know for sure how many after tomorrow's weigh in [scared emoticon]).

A big hello to all the newbies, I hope you all don't disappear now that I'm back from my holidays, or else I'll get a complex .

Have a nice sleep Glitter, I'm fighting jet lag but I think I'll be joining you soon (in my own bed obviously, not yours ).

Do you have any carrots? I find them fairly sweet and quite filling when eaten raw. Alternatively just stay on Mumsnet, I don't know where the time goes when I'm on here .

champs · 20/10/2004 01:44

Hi all!!
Welcome back Bran!! sounded like a wonderful holiday. Jet lag is no fun tho.
Glitter--- I will have to take the whip out for you if you dont LOOK AFTER YOURSELF!!! how many times have you been told young lady?? please try hun, and if you need a little choc, just add it to your daily allowance. Or have a nice low cal hot choc, nice and warming too, you could even add a couple marshmallow, no fat in marshmallows (but lots of sugar so go easy)Hope you feel better today xxx
WWB--- How are you today? I know exaclty how you feel about your weight, we all do. Just think about how long it has taken to put on the extra weight, it's bound to take a while to loose it. I too get down when I think of how far I have got to go but we must remember that in the long scheme of things a year or so Isn't that long, infact it was only the other day Christmas was here, and now it's comming round again.
And as for that horrid rc leader, how dare she, maybe it's worth complaining about her. Leaders should be encouraging, are you sure she wasn't jealous of you??? You may borrow my whip for your DH... excersise in any shape or form has to be good, right??
moniker---- well done with the weight loss 4lbs is brill, Brownies on your own is never a good idea, how about baking them when you know guests are coming? that way you get to have some but not all. Or make some low fat ones.
monkeygirl---- I know that feeling well, that has been the downfall of many of my diet efforts. I have now learnt that if i fall and have something to get straight back on the diet wagon right away.
October--- which book have you got? I have a few ww cookboks and some other low fat/fat free books I keep meaning to use them but am so lazy, I just do my own versions!!

monkeygirl · 20/10/2004 10:44

I guess I'm a newbie on this thread so thanks for the welcome all! Are most people doing WW/SW or RC then? I know Woodpops is doing Lighterlife which I am thinking about cos I need something drastic but maybe that is too drastic for me - sorry but my los drive me to drink the odd natch glass of wine (or, ahem, two) and I don't want to stop doing that occasionally. But I have just stopped bfing (hooray) which yet again has made me put on weight - well that a being a greedy so and so .

Anyone tried Slimfast? I guess we've probably tried most things between us if we are long-termers but I'm groping in the dark here for something that's going to give me a huge kick up the a**e.

My mantra for today is 'And chocolate shall not pass my lips'.

Bran - where did you go on your hols then?

WigWamBam · 20/10/2004 16:15

I tried Slim Fast many moons ago Monkeygirl, and in my opinion it would be better called Starve Slowly. It tastes vile, although it's been a long time since I tried it so the taste could have changed by now but honestly, it was the most disgusting stuff I've ever tasted (apart from Uni-Vite, which really was the pits).

(did your mantra work, by the way> ? )

moniker · 20/10/2004 16:28

okay okay I won't make the brownies - but I still REALLY want to!! And I had been wondering what praline flakes were and thinking they sounded a bit odd and then i saw a praline Flake in the supermartket (the F makes all the difference you see) and so I had one of those! But it was only 200 calories which I thought was OK - and it was gorgeious!! I will look for a low fat recipe I think.....................

Don't worry about tomorrow GF - sorry you are poorly and hope you are feeling better soon. I will go for a walk around the shops instead and blame you if I buy anything!! xx

glitterfairy · 20/10/2004 18:52

Hiya everyone. OOh champs am so scared am having four days at home and tomorrow in BED! Will only get up for a drink or two.

Moniker am really sorry but we can re arrange! Dont buy anything but shoes, clothes handbags and jewelry!

Bran welcome back hope it is not too grey and rainy here for you and dont worry the pounds will come off again! You wouldnt like it in my bed at the moment as I am coughing all night and tossing and turning!

OP posts:
bran · 20/10/2004 21:22

Hurrah!!!

I lost 1.5 lbs, I'm sooooooo pleased I can barely stop grinning. I'm trying to be a little cautious as I usually have dinner before weigh-in but didn't have time today, and I also think I'm a little dehydrated, plus my last few days of holiday were my most calorific and it may not show until next week, but still I'm really pleased .

I hope you're feeling perkier soon Glitter, just remember that chocolate doesn't solve anything (but a little does taste nice). I'm actually glad to be back in the cold and rain, I'm Irish so it's my natural environment. I'm like a fish out of water in Malaysia, the best that I ever feel is uncomfortable and usually by the end of a week I feel really quite ill.

Monkeygirl I had 2 days in Langkawi which was beautiful but a bit dull as I don't sunbathe or like the beach, 4 days in Sydney which was fantastic, and a week in Kuala Lumpur staying with my MIL which I am always glad just to survive.

I know what you mean about the brownies Moniker, I will make them one day, but I think I will wait a bit longer. I think I deserve to have an indulgent day ones every 10 weeks or so, but I might make Christmas my next indulgent day as I have already had a few while on holiday, so that would mean my next brownie day would be in February/March. Unless I make them for Christmas day (I don't like Christmas pud).
