Would love to join you all as I am 6 months post 2nd baby I am still in a UK size 18. I've also just really screwed up in that I have eaten a 200g bar of Cadbury's caramel. This is a family size bar! The extenuating circumstances are that this is my first day back at work which is seriously depressing - however shouldn't be using food as an emotional prop.

Maybe checking in here regularly will help me find some of that elusive will power. Btw I am not a total lost cause - I am now going to the gym three times per week and running on the treadmill (albeit slowly 9.0 - 9.5 km/ hour) for 30 minutes.

welcome maymoo, dior and HMC!!
maymoo-- how old is baby? Is she sitting up yet? if so you could sit her up with some toys. Or even a wooden spoon and bowl. My kitchen is just bigger than a matchbox so I dont like ds2 in there when I cook as it is a bit dangerous so I put him in his highchair or bumbo and give him some stuff to occupy him. The thing I like about WW is that you don't have to cook as much as SW. I do like to make some low fat meals tho and love coming up with diff ones.
woodpops--- when is your anniv? You could put it on if it is near but i think the way your going it will soon be too big!!

glitter-- HI my hun!! Thought you was still a wya. Silly, dont stay away just because of a slight blip. We've all had them (me quite a few) I have missed you so much!! How are the family? Has dd goy any ballet stuff coming up for christmas? Come back soon!!
dior-- well done with 10% key. you must be so pleased. keep it up.
bran-- you are doing so well. keep up the good work. I have forgotten my pledge to drink more water. will go and get a glass.
HMC--- lets right that caramel bar off as a back to work treat and move on. How did your first day back go? I dreaded mine and still hate leaving baby he cries every time and it breaks my heart.

puff, monkey, jnbsmum, essbee, wwb, soapbox, yorkiegirl, miam, lunersea and everyone else HI!! hope you are all well.

Hi everyone!

I have lost 2lbs this week, hurrah and feel I am back on track.

Welcome to all the fellow newcomers, you'll get lots of help and support on here.

glitterfairy · 09/11/2004 10:24

Hi Guys have been to the gym this morning and had very healthy breakfast of goats milk yoghurt and fruit!

Yes bran not only did I drink Dublin dry but have got a passion for Lindt chocolate! Oh deary me It felt so good to get to the gym this mornign though so am going every morning this week!

Beety is pleased with me too although I am very fearful as she has made me her pet project and we are going to Egypt together for New Year and she will have to see me in a swimming costume so must be good, must be good, must be good!

Champs have missed you too. All family well and ds won a gold medal at a ballet competition the other day so was really pleased because as he said he beat 10 girls and is always getting teased so it was nice for him.

They are doing exams in December so we have to go on Sundays as well. NO PEACE, No REST !

Oh dear, I'm another one sneaking in with my tail between my legs cos I'm only on week two and I have put on the 2 lbs I lost . Well I could make the excuse of having been to see my mum who cooks for an army and sneakily put a bag of chocs in my car (I kid you not, she is absolutely obsessed with choc and desserts) but I know I should have given it away really and had some more will-power. Anyway - enough self-pity, I'm back on track today (and yes Kittypickle, am with you on that 'here we go again for the nth time').

Welcome to all you other newbies on the thread - we really are growing (some of us in the wrong direction still ). And well done to all you losers - please send some of that willpower my way please.

jnbsmum · 09/11/2004 14:46

Can i peek my head around the door holding a white flag....Please dont shoot...
AAARRGH ive put on 1/2 lb. Im so ashamed
I was doing so well. I managed 9 pounds in 3 weeks But today i feel awful. I think its making me a bit more determined though. I know where i went wrong. it was the chinese ant 2 bottles of wine on sat.(it was nice though)
I think im just going to go now with my head hanging low in shame.
(And quickly too before those whips come out)

jnbsmum · 09/11/2004 14:56

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone else though.
Monkeygirl dont worry, next week we'll show them. We'll come back with such a weight loss it will feel fantastic.
Btw wanted to cheer you up with something my ds said. We where sat in th ww meeting this morn and my leader was talking about everybodys loss. My ds looked at me and said 'Mummy whats everybody lost' The only thing i could think of telling him was 'our bellies'. It really made me smile though

bran · 09/11/2004 15:09

Both Glitterfairy and monkeygirl practise saying after me 'I've really gone off chocolate lately, I don't like it at all now'. Say it in front of the mirror, in the newsagents, to friends, relatives and work colleagues, in restaurants. You might even start to believe it.

jnbsmum I really think that WW people should look at their rolling 4-week loss. I have lost every single week, but my average is only 1.5 lb a week, whereas my friend who comes to meetings with me tends to either lose 4 lb or put on a half so she's always either jubilant or depressed when she shouldn't be as over the course of a month her loss is quite respectable. I think your biggest mistake was not checking in on this thread often enough - you know we'll keep you in line .

PuffTheMagicDragon · 09/11/2004 15:12

monkeygirl and jnbsmum - don't worry, you will bounce back next week, like I did.

It's getting to that difficult time of year isn't it with all the Xmas parties to go to. Plus the dark nights don't help you just want to sit in front of the tv and stuff your face with junk. Or at least I do. I had a dream last night that I ate something and then I kept on eating and eating and eating . It was all very odd considering I've not eaten in almost 7 weeks!!!!!

Keep it up everyone. Remeber, just picture that little black dress with you in it

champs · 09/11/2004 23:49

hi all!! am still trying to do better than last week.
wb Kitty!! back on the wagon hey!! great to have you back. would love to say I have shrunk lots since you've been gone but....
puff-- well done, 2lbs is great. the weight is really shifting from you now.
glitter-- glad you've found your gym legs again. bless your ds, so pleased for him, esp as male ballet dancers get such stick. beety can still see us!! Hi beety!!
monkeygirl--- pick up that tail, we will all try harder and by christmas we will all be a next size down, it can be done, I'm gonna really try so I can buy something in the new year sales in a size down from what I am now.
jnbsmum-- dont be disheartened, 1/2 lb really isn't that bad and as bran says, it will all balance out.
bran-- how are you? please look out for a cat re: ww esource.
essbee--- keep up the good work, you will shift that stone in no time, cut it down into chunks and it will easier.
woodpops-- when you go to parties, do you bring your meal pack with you? or do you just have water? I'd love to get into one of my dresses by Christmas.

Right I am gonna do so much better this week. I have to get a move on, that florida hol will be here before i know it and I want to feel comfortable on the beach, even if I dont wear a bikini (no matter how slim I get I cant imagine myself in one) I want to feel happy in my one piece. I hate the way I FEEL, HIDDING ALL THE TIME ooops caps!!! but they do seem apt. And I know there'll be beach beauties there, I dont want to stick out. Ok I sound very self hating dont I??!! Glitter, I need a talking to again

woodpops · 10/11/2004 09:00

I just have water. Too many questions when you take a meal pack with you.

handlemecarefully · 10/11/2004 09:37

jnbsmum,

Don't beat yourselve up over 1/2 lb particularly after loosing consistently over the past few weeks. A little fluctuation like 1/2 lb could actually be just down to water retention.

Now then....I don't know whether to weigh myself or not. I thought that I might try to manage my weight loss by just guaging it from my clothes getting looser (hopefully). My rationale was that I might get obsessed with the weighing scales otherwise (and be hopping on and off several times a day)....But if I don't weigh myself and just use my clothes as a guide, I won't be able to see such immediate progress...hmmmmm

Does anyone actually find it difficult to diet not so much from a willpower point of view, but because of so little time? I often find myself eating several rounds of (buttery toast) for tea because its easier and quicker than cooking a healthy nutritious meal..

LunarSea · 10/11/2004 10:05

woodpops - you make me feel so-o-o-o guilty actually planning to eat/drink at Christmas dinners, etc (especially as the company is paying for one of them!). I know I couldn't do what you're, doing, but hey, if it works for you, that's great.

I'm fully expecting to not lose at all in December and have even factored that into my spreadsheet. How sad is that - recording it all in a spreadsheet? I keep making it more complex too, with rolling 3 and 4 week averages, dates when I'm likely to meet targets, and adding lots of sub-targets like %ages of bodyweight, %age of target loss, whole stones lost, half stones lost, the number of whole stones going down. In fact with a little imagination I can find a milestone to aim for almost every week!

I'm trying (but probably not succeeding) to be super-good this week, as I only need to lose another 2.5 lbs to get to 5 stones. Unfortunately I think the effects of going to the gym every day might be offset by the after-effects of a parental visit this weekend. Beware of mothers bearing gifts of French cheeses!!! Sweet things I can resist easily, but cheese, if it's in the house, will get eaten, especially as dh doesn't especially like the soft French cheeses and they will only go to waste if I don't eat them.

champs · 10/11/2004 13:10

I lost 2lbs!! I really dont understand this diet malarky, really I dont but it is just what I needed as a boost cos I have reached that point again.
woodpops-- does anyone ask why you are only drinking water? I know I keep saying this but you have SUCH willpower.
HMC-- know what you mean about scales. DH actually hid mine for a while and when I was pg he actually banned me from using them cos every time I went hosp I got really upset at the gains and would want to weigh myself at home, He gave a good talking to and got it into my head that the baby had to grow etc. Glitter used to guage weight loss by clothes. It worked for her. Not sure if she still does this tho cos I can remember some weight loss posts from her, Glitter where are you my hun??
lunersea--- you did make me laugh. You are super eficient. But I do feel the little millestones help alot to keep motivation up.

monkeygirl · 10/11/2004 16:50

Well done Champs - you're nearer to that next size down now for the sales (which I hate by the way - is it only me cos everyone else seems to love them. I can't stand the crowds and grubbing around and I'm crap at bargain hunting).

LunarSea - I think the spreadsheet sounds like great motivation. I haven't started it yet this time but I usually do it with ye olde pen and ink and keep a record of my weight loss in a little black book. I also keep measurements like bust, waist, hips, stomach and, if I can be bothered, thighs as I think losing inches is more motivating for me than weight. I've been doing it for years (sadly and like a saddo!) and it's really interesting to see what shape I was at different times in my life. Ooh, must go and get it out to have a look.

Woodpops - water at a party - I don't know how you do it - all credit to you!

bran · 10/11/2004 21:21

and that I only lost 1 lb over the last 2 weeks, I know why it is though and I'm a bit that I forgot that the cough mixture that I've been glugging over the past week is incredibly sugary. I reckon I've been going 2 points over most days without realising it. Hopefully next week will be much better as I'm not taking the cough stuff anymore. I was also feeling hungry all the time, and I think that's because I was having that huge dose of sugar just before bedtime so obviously my blood sugar and insulin levels were all out of kilter.

So that I know for next time, can anyone recommend a good, strong, sugar-free cough mixture? The one I've been taking is Covonia which was really quite good at supressing the cough, but obviously rubbish for my diet.

jnbsmum · 10/11/2004 22:00

Thought i better check in today just in case bran is waiting to nock me back into line

Well done champs 2lbs is fantastic just keep thinking smaller clothes new wardrobe

Woodpops i think i'd have to give you a standing ovation cause what your doing is absolutly amasing. Well done. I dont think i could have dreams like that and not get up and eat.also parties....how do you do it. WELL DONE

bran..1lb IS A BAG OF SUGAR. go to your kitchen and feel the weight. Its better than a loss and as you said you've been drinking cough medicine which means you are not well. Your metabolism will have slowed down making your weight slow down too. Dont worry, next week will be better.

And everyone else who i've missed, well it looks like everyone's doing so well you'll be starting a new thread soon named 'Nearly at goal'

Ive been a good girl this week. Ive been little miss organized and planned a weeks worth of ww recipies and bought all the ingredients. I know its a little over the top but i really want this to work. I think my gain this week was a kick up the bum. I'm even more determined now so I WILL BE GOOD.
Keep it up everyone

soapbox · 10/11/2004 22:08

Hi everyone - been very pissed off this week as only lost 1/2lb. But I did lose 4lbs last week. The weight loss has slowed down quite a bit - but hopefully this week I will make it to 4 stones.

Getting really fed up of foodpacks and drowning in bl**dy water - but will stick it out to Christams and see how I go.

Did have one good thing this week - managed to sqeeze myself into a size 14 (US10) pair of jeans in GAP was a happy little bunny!

jnbsmum · 10/11/2004 22:20

Well done soapbox. A size 14 is a long distance dream for me at the moment. Keep it up

champs · 11/11/2004 00:14

and me jnbsmum but we will get there one day.
Monkeygirl-- ty!! I dont do well in sales either and leave a few days before I go or if it a one day thing I go as late as poss. can you imagine camping outside?! and making a dash when doors open I took measurements right at the begining, will do some more and compare.
bran-- well done with the lb, If you add it it for the month you'll find that you are doing very well. I can't remember the name of sugar free medicine, but have a look in boots. I know that my childhood chemist makes up a cough medicine for me and I still go to him now even though I dont live on the road anymore. I have to have medicine suitable for asthmatics. maybe your chemist could do you up a sugar free one. I also get sugarfree halls the cherry ones as I noticed tunes and the like are so easy to go over points with.
jnbsmum-- ty!! you are not over the top at all, you are just being organised and determined to succeed. I find it easier to stick to if I have made provisions too.
soapbox--- WOW a size 14!!! and jeans at that!! well done. you are doing so well. dont be disheartened 1/2lb adds up in the long scheme of things. and you could have lost more inches than weight this week. you are just a little bored at the mo, i find that jappens to me at times, I go for a while all motivated and happy then I just get bored and start to lag. and as for the water, I still haven't bucked my ideas up
Glitter--- I had a diet coke today, don't tell beety!! it was the only diet drink available.

glitterfairy · 11/11/2004 08:58

HI Guys am in front of the mirro now bran saying I really really dont like chocolate anymore and laughing at my reflection in a manic you are tlaking rubbish kind of way.

Champs here I am. Yes I still do measure wieght loss that way but currently havent really lost any. been to the gym this morning though and am about to eat a nice healthy bowl of porridge! You dont need a talking too I bet you have lost more than me now. I was thinking this morning I will never be thin and do you know I could be thinner but dont know if I really want to be thin and that might be half my problem.
