HELP! I'm so fed up with myself I could cry .

Since going for those 2 meals over the weekend, I've been feeling STARVING constantly. It's as though my appetite has been triggered again and I can't get it under control.

Last night, while watching the American election coverage I just ate everything in sight - vast quantities of pistachio nuts, bread, yoghurts, even 4 of ds1's lollies.

Got on the scales this morning and that little blow out = 2lbs up on the scales.

Feel so ashamed of myself.

woodpops · 03/11/2004 11:00

Puff, chin up love come on get back on track.

At my group we've been told when you think you're hungry you're not always hungry. If that makes any sense at all. Alot of the time you're just thirsty. Try a glass of water when you think you're hungry. I must admit I've been filling myself up with water during the day and having my 3 meal packs after 6 in the evening and I've not been hungry.

Hope it works. I do know exactly what you mean by eating out triggering your hunger off again.

bran · 03/11/2004 11:00

Don't panic - you body probably just thinks it's going back to your old eating habits. Don't eat anything fatty or sugary or refined if you can help it. Stuff yourself full of high fibre healthy things so that you couldn't fit in any bad things even if you wanted to, try low-fat yogurt, porridge, ryvita, raw veg, stir-fried veg, soup (not creamy), wholemeal bread. I find that eating a really big, fibrous lunch helps with evening cravings. The more that you give in to the cravings now, the longer it will take for them to subside when you start dieting again.

I've been there and it really is horrible, but it passes eventually. Don't worry about the weight gain, it's just a blip, it went on fast so once you start back on the diet it'll come off fast.

NO MORE BAD STUFF - I'M WATCHING YOU

PuffTheMagicDragon · 03/11/2004 11:22

Thanks ladies - I'm also not going to buy any more nuts. I can't eat 10, I just keep going!

Will drink plenty of water today and look at my GI book to go and buy foods that are going to help stop me craving the stuff I've been obsessed with since Friday!

woodpops · 03/11/2004 11:28

Puff, keep picturing you in that little black dress at Christmas

woodpops · 03/11/2004 11:29

I meant yourself, what terrible English. I need shooting for that one

monkeygirl · 03/11/2004 11:43

Puff - hope you're feeling positive again now. We've all been there (me yesterday as well - stupidly bought choc yesterday for - ahem - occasional treat and ate it all) but you know that it's only a blip. No way have you undone your good work so far and as Bran says you will lose those 2 little pounds quickly again.

I am putting my not so big weight loss down to the fact that my periods finally came back after 14 months and I always retain a lake of water beforehand.

Thanks for the tip Champs - I'll have to make sure I get one that seals my mouth .

I am very impressed by you all on this thread - despite some little 'blips' there has been a helluva lot of weight lost so far and I shall go for a nice brisk walk in honour of you all!

champs · 03/11/2004 20:35

puff-- agree with others, just see it as a blip and jump back on the healthy eating wagon. You CAN do this (you better had as bran is watching)
Woodpops-- I have been slacking on the water front and have been feeling blah will do better tomo. As for your writting, have you had a look at mine?! I cringe when I read back some of my posts
Monkeygirl-- lol less painful than a zip anyway

PuffTheMagicDragon · 03/11/2004 21:09

Have calmed down a bit now and had a good day (so far) food wise. Did a big shop and now have plenty of veg and fruit in to graze on. Part of the problem yesterday I think was that I didn't have much in the fridge and cupboards overall, so when hunger got the better of me I was just grabbing anything. Having two nights out at the weekend totally threw out my shopping schedule!

Need to be really good the rest of this week.

bran · 05/11/2004 15:02

I didn't get weighed in on Wednesday . I did intend to but I was going to get it done before I went out to a friends house for dinner and when I got to the meeting the queue was out the door and I didn't have time to wait. I can really feel that I'm not trying as hard this week because I didn't go to the meeting. I think I really need the regular weigh-in so that I can tell I'm loosing the weight, it's coming off very gradually so I don't feel any different from week to week. In fact I really feel that different from when I started despite having lost 18lb, I think that's because my waist size has hardly changed at all, so I haven't changed clothes size.

Motivation please (as well as a whipping to make me do some tummy exercises).

champs · 05/11/2004 18:33

hi bran!! cant whip you for that as I am a lazy lumuck and have had no excersise today
keep up the good work and next week will be a big loss as you will be counting two weeks!! (motivating enuf?)

woodpops · 05/11/2004 21:33

Weigh in last night and guess what .............. anothr 4½lb off. That's 36lb now. And even better tonight I've tried my wedding dress on and it fitted perfectly. I can't stop smiling now. It was the 1st time I've tried it on since we got married back in 99. God I felt like a princess

champs · 05/11/2004 22:50

woohoo!! well done woodpops, it's really dropping off. Did you show your dh you in the dress?? what did he say?

Well done woodpops .

bran · 06/11/2004 15:39

Hi Essbee, I was thinking about you the other day, wondering how you were getting on.

A stone is not the end of the world, just make sure that you're eating healthy, wholemeal, low-fat food with lots of fruit and veg and water, and get a bit more exercise. If you aim for good nutrition and keeping your weight stable then you can make your body healthier and get your metabolism back up to speed. Once that happens you can concentrate on loosing weight. Usually they say that if the weight goes on quickly it will come off quickly, I think the opposite is probably true as it took me 13 years to put on 8 stone and it is coming off very slowly indeed (though hopefully it won't take 13 years lol).

Well done Woodpops, that is absolutely astounding. You're like a sci-fi type - the incredible shrinking woman, it won't be long before you can disappear just by turning sideways . How long before you go onto the next phase?

Thanks for the motivation Champs, I was hoping for a slightly stronger chastisement, perhaps Glitterfairy will come back as I could certainly use a good whipping. I'm still sticking to my points this week so hopefully there will be a double loss at the next weigh-in, I just know that I should be exercising too, and yet I'm not doing it . I will have to go and whip myself.

champs · 07/11/2004 17:21

ok bran, you asked for it!!
get to gym RIGHT NOW!! I dont want any excuses. And I dont want to hear it might be a double loss or any maybe's. It WILL be a double loss.... GOT IT!!!

bran · 07/11/2004 18:31

Champs , all I've done today is the warm-up and sit-up sections of Callanetics. You're right I should do more, and I will once I've finished digesting my dinner.

champs · 07/11/2004 21:49

thats more like it

maymoo · 07/11/2004 22:16

Can I join your weight loss club? I am VERY familiar with WW and have my handy points converter at the fore but this all seems to go out of my head when it comes to cheese, beer and bread. I just never seem to have time to make up all those low points meals. What do you do with your babies when you need to cook? my kitchen is tiny and it seems mean to stick her on the floor on a bouncy chair that she hates, any ideas (not that I am making excuses of course!!!)

woodpops · 08/11/2004 08:22

Hello maymoo. THose low point meals never taste good when you've made them yourself. It always tastes better when someone else makes it!!!

Nope, dh was out so he didn't see me in my wedding dress. But I did ring my mum and told her. I was sooooooooo chuffed. I wanted to tell the world. I can fit back into my wedding dress!!!!

glitterfairy · 08/11/2004 10:37

Hiya guys how are you all? I am doing really badly at the moment. You can always tell as I dont come on and post. Beety caught up with me this morning though and has given me a stern lecture and tomorrow I am back to the gym etc. I think I have small lapse and it becomes a gargantuan one and I cant seem to get back on the programme without a good talking to. Oh Well Sigh sigh tomorrow is another day!

Hi Glitterfairy - I wondered where you'd got to. Now that I know that your absence is a sign that you're being bad I'll hunt you down on other threads the next time you haven't posted for a while. Have you been really unspeakably bad (i.e. you've drunk Dublin dry ) or have you just not been as good as you should have? Hopefully it won't take long to get back up to your previous fitness level, you had a really good, healthy routine before so you know that you can do it again. There's no point in me being scary because Beetroot is much more fearsome than I could ever be, so do what she says or else I expect there will be consequences.

Welcome Maymoo, I'm doing WW too and I'm not a particularly keen cook, although I like good food. I have a lot of things that are good ingredients but minimum preparation. Tonight I'm having grilled premium pork sausages (chipolatas)in a tortilla wrap with lots of raw baby spinach and a little sweet chilli sauce (or mustard perhaps). One of my favourite things is falafels (heated in the oven until slightly browned and crispy) with lots of salad and a sauce made from 1 tablespoon/30g of houmus (not the low fat type which tastes horrible) mixed with a small carton of low-fat natural yogurt and finely chopped mint (if you have it), makes enough sauce for two. I also love cottage cheese mixed with a couple of teaspoons of pesto over wholemeal pasta.

Cheese is fatal isn't it, I can't believe how many points it is for such small pieces. I tend not to eat it at all, except for cottage cheese and low-fat Philadelphia. I only eat wholemeal bread and I always weigh it before I eat, I find that white bread triggers cravings for more bread even though I like the taste of wholemeal better. I can't suggest anything about the beer, I'm more of a white wine person, but you could always drink a full glass of water between every beer as that will slow you down a bit (and stop you from getting hangovers .
