Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Small progress but I have lost some inches. A highly innacurate way of mesuring weight and weight loss but I've only just ordered a set of bathroom scales so all I have to go on at the moment. I am also managing to stay below my calorie goal most days and even when I've not I can balance it out over the week.
0.5 on my bicep
3 from my chest
1 from my hips
1 from my thighs
0.5 from my waist
I'm currently looking into local fitness groups as a nice way back into exercise in a less intimidating setting than the gym or sports club but I would like to get fit enough to do rugby again.

BustedDreams · 25/11/2019 15:37

@ConfusedAndStressed95 that look like great progress. The body part I struggle to lose weight from is my waist! Really hard as I’ve got older. Hope you get in the Rugby team!

Hi everyone

I've forgotten my weight but it was down a bit.

Appointment was not good. I was very stressed and on edge. Doctor was not nice. Refused a scan. Said it is migraines. Seemed very annoyed with me and quite patronising. Just want the pain to go.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 25/11/2019 17:37

Thanks, it's really small progress but 6 inches overall in a month feels massive considering I find trying to lose weight terrifying and difficult. It's unlikely I'll try out for rugby till I've improved my fitness so I'm going to start Couch to 5K tomorrow and I've found a NHS podcast for fitness aimed at disabled people which will help more than typical ones.

I also sat and had a really long hard thing about what my calorie intake should actually be as I'm 7in shorter than the average woman and significantly less active.

Octopus37 · 25/11/2019 18:07

Late to the party but can I join. I'm aware that I've been here many times before and started threads and not followed them up etc. I am 45 on 9th Jan and would like to get under 9 stone by then. Aiming to get there for Christmas tbh but might be a tad ambitious. For context, I'm 5ft5 tall and quite a small frame so 9st11 is a bit too much for me. Method - just eating less and relatively healthily. Good luck to everyone else. Will weigh in on Friday and update.

Galvantula · 25/11/2019 19:40

After my gastroenteritis or whatever kind of bug it was I am in the unexpected position of being at 59kg/9st 4. Definitely not recommended though!

Just need to keep in the good habits and maybe I can hit 58kg by the end of the year...

Waves to Octopus and Cat :)

That sucks Sunshine :( Very unpleasant to refuse the scan if that was what was planned/advised before.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/11/2019 20:22

Oh no @SunshineCake can you complain to PALS? Not helpful to have someone so dismissive.

Thanks for starting a new thread @BustedDreams

Waves to new and old. I'm doing OK at the moment.

SunshineCake · 25/11/2019 21:15

MrsJones, I expect what will happen will be the same as when DD was sent to hospital and the nurse was a bitch and the doctor useless, I wont get asked for feedback.

Once my GP sees the letter he will write she will be kicking ass.

fallfallfall · 25/11/2019 21:33

152.4 lbs, that’s slowly heading in the right direction.
Getting my steps in.
I should attempt logging and I should increase my fluids.
Thank you busted for the Dec link.

Mungomango · 25/11/2019 22:58

Welcome @Octopus37 and @CatUnderTheStairs!

I haven't been on MN for a while but I'm still trucking on here. Slight weight loss but nothing to shout about! I'm exercising way more than I used to which feels great and as a result I'm sleeping better. And if I sleep better I eat better.. It's funny how everything has a knock on effect.

@ConfusedAndStressed95 I'm doing Couch to 5k too, I love it! I'm only on week 3 despite doing it for a couple of months but that's because I had a family bereavement in September which knocked me for 6. Anyway I'm back on it now and loving it. Let me know how you get on!

Going to go and place mark the December thread now before I forget..

Koko everyone. Hugs to all

DownUdderer · 26/11/2019 05:11

I took my four year old for immunization jabs today so I was stressed, he was fine! I just didn’t plan out my eating as I just didn’t have enough brain power! But I’m still happy with my choices. We’re eating out this evening and I just don’t know what I’ll choose. Probably whatever I fancy but I will eat slowly and I won’t go crazy.

DownUdderer · 26/11/2019 05:11

I forgot to say hello to new and old members of this lovely thread. Good luck everyone.

BustedDreams · 26/11/2019 08:31

Morning Lovelies

@ConfusedAndStressed95 tape measuring is a great way to measure progress especially if working out as muscle weighs heavier than fat!

@SunshineCake sorry to hear of your experience. You can share it with PALS

@Galvantula every cloud 😬 Glad you’re feeling better!

@MrsJonesAndMe @fallfallfall you’re welcome 😊

@Mungomango nice to see you. Pleased to hear your making progress.

@DownUdderer glad your boy was ok at his immunisation. Do let us know what culinary delight you end up having!

I’m at 144.2lb. Better than the 148.6lbs. Hoping to lose a couple more lbs before month end. Why or why does it not come off as quick as it went on 🤷‍♀️. Mixed veg in a bit of butter/oil for lunch. Lamb harissa with cauli rice for evening meal.

Have a great day what ever you’re doing!

I had a chicken schnitzel with salad and chips and it was topped with chilli, tortilla chips, sour cream, guacamole and cheese! It was lovely! I only had three chips, and few mouthfuls of everything. I ate slowly and enjoyed it, but once I felt full I stopped. I’m not bothered with ‘wasting’ food because I’d rather enjoy a small portion. It could have fed three people though! Ha!

BustedDreams · 26/11/2019 10:52

@DownUdderer that sounds delish 😋

OP posts:
Galvantula · 26/11/2019 11:28

@DownUdderer mindful eating like that is really helpful. It makes such a difference when you notice yourself getting full and stop.

Very hard to override the urge to finish it and not waste it though! I think taking your time like you said is the key.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 26/11/2019 11:36

Mindful eating is something I really struggle with @DownUdderer and @Galavantula. I was brought up in a household where money was tight and wasting food wasn't an option. I'm on a student budget at the moment but I'm getting better at judging how much food I REALLY need to cook. Plus it's helpful that when I've made too much food my housemates are quite happy to finish it off. I've found tracking what I'm eating has helped me cut out a load of junk though tonight I'm doing Jelly Shots with my housemate and friend so I'll have to account for those.

SunshineCake · 26/11/2019 12:37

I think I'm a pound off but it's the same pound lost three times Grin.

Have been wrapping present as I have quite a few that have to be posted so need to get ahead. I might nip out for buts this afternoon as even though I'm going to the shopping centre on Thursday it is more to meet a friend and I don't get a lot of time fee as need to be back for my dog.

Hi everyone. This is such a lovely place. I've struggled emotionally and even when I was being annoying I was still shown kindness and friendship and it was much appreciated and is appreciated. I lost the ability to speak for the fourth time and it was hard. That was what I was too embarrassed to say about previously.

Galvantula · 26/11/2019 19:13

definitely @ConfusedAndStressed95 I would have been expected to finish my plate too i think, it's hard to train yourself not to.

I also had a bad habit of saving my favourite bit of a meal until last which didn't help.

I think logging and controlling portion size has made a huge difference to me. My old cereal portion size was huge Blush

DownUdderer · 27/11/2019 02:22

@SunshineCake I hope you’re keeping well. Keep on posting here, amongst friends.

I used to be a very slow eater, just naturally and that really helped me. When I had babies I started eating super fast because one of them would always be screaming! But now I’m trying to slow down again.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 27/11/2019 02:49

@Galvantula, I have the same habit. My housemates are always alarmed at how little I actually eat so I know a large part of it is that I don't exercise enough at all.

But tonight however has been a bit of a downturn. I've had many many poorly made jelly shots with friends so will likely stick to a slimfast shake and salad tomorrow to make up for the frankly alarming amount of calories I have consumed.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 27/11/2019 07:00

Wish me luck. In some sort of fit of insanity I have take it upon myself to walk the two and a half miles into the town center, leaving behind my money and card so the only way I can get back is to walk.

BustedDreams · 27/11/2019 07:36

Morning Lovelies

@SunshineCake glad you’re sticking with your online support and friends. Life isn’t always easy but hopefully it’ll get better.

@ConfusedAndStressed85 Grin that’s one way to get your steps in! Are you back safely yet?

I used to be a fast eater but now I am very slow. It does help with control because it gives the brain time to register when your stomach is full.

Can I share I am fuming with FITBIT. I’ve recently sent my devices back as I sustained a nasty burn. This was from a paid for upgrade replacement for my 6 month old devise that stopped syncing. So ended up with 2 at a cost of £175. They eventually agreed to refund both if I returned them. They provided a pre paid label. I duly packaged them both up in their original boxes and bubble wrapped them together in one parcel. Now Fitbit are claiming they have only received one device so I won’t be getting ANY refund. I’m spitting feathers here.

Anyways hope you lol have a positive day.

Not ‘lol’, it should read ‘all’ ... spell check is trying to cheer me up Grin

OP posts:
ConfusedAndStressed95 · 27/11/2019 08:06

That's awful about the fitbit issue. Is there anything you can do?

I walked back as far as the uni campus and got the free bus to near my house. I've not broken in my trainers and thankfully I was fine the entire way there and then my shoes got wet and my feet have been rubbed raw. But I'd guess I managed at least 3 1/2 miles which is 3 1/2 more than I did yesterday. I'll be walking around town this afternoon as well with my friends as we're going Christmas shopping. I'm going to take five and call my friend and then do a couple of reps with my weights because my arms are an issue for me.

I feel rather ill currently because jelly shots don't make for a pleasant morning so we'll see how it goes.
