Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Evening all.

Welcome @ConfusedAndStressed95. You’ve come to the right place.

@Galvantula hope your lurgy doesn’t hang about! Get well soon!

@Mungomango could it be the category of the oats change in relation to what you’ve already inputted ? So the more carbs you’ve had the more into the red zone they go. Just an idea, I don’t have experience of Noom.

OP posts:
Mungomango · 19/11/2019 21:27

@Busted could be, although oats were at the start of the day. I think the app is bit glitchy at times as I've had the same thing with another food (can't remember which one now).

And it's saying my 30 minutes of biking only burned 50 calories... surely it would be more than that?!

DownUdderer · 20/11/2019 02:49

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about poorly kids and people with the flu. Yuck, horrible times. Keep your fluids up.

And everyone else, keep drinking heaps of water! It’s so good for you.

@BustedDreams I’m glad your weight is doing what you want! Perhaps your medications are leveling out.

I’ve been shopping and got two pairs of shorts in a size down from normal. I’m so pleased!

BustedDreams · 20/11/2019 09:10

Good morning

@DownUdderer it’s great when that happens. Pleased your seeing real physical results!

@Mungomango do you have to pay for Noom? Have you had any good results with it. How’s it different to MFP (if your familiar with mfp)

I think I’m going to start looking like a cauliflower soon. I’ve eaten so much of the stuff so far this week Grin More the latter picture than than the former!

Morning all. Feeling a lot better than yesterday. Made myself eat a little just now.

For your amusement I am 2kg lighter than Monday morning 😱 I guess eating absolutely nothing yesterday and (tmi) spending most of the day on the loo will do that. Blush

Feeling a bit weak and light headed still.

The joy of kids and their germs... 😏

BustedDreams · 20/11/2019 09:41

Pleased to read you’re feeling better @Galvantula. I’m not surprised you’re down with the not eating and being ill. Have you replaced your electrolytes/salt. That might help with the light headless.

Glad you are feeling better @Galvantula

That photo is scary BustedDreams!

I am the same this morning as I was yesterday which is 1.8lb up. I'm trying to stay positive. I do need a slap on the head though because I'm already stressing about my appointment on Monday. I'm going for a brain scan.

BustedDreams · 20/11/2019 10:12

@SunshineCake hand hold for Monday. Sending positive vibes.

SunshineCake · 20/11/2019 13:41

Thank you @BustedDreams

I'm just back from my asthma check where I have discovered my lungs are working at half their capacity? If that's the right term. Feeling quite scared tbh. Also wondering if my anxiety attacks where I can't breathe were actually asthma attacks. Got new inhalers and and have to go back for more tests.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 20/11/2019 15:21

I'm supposed to be going for a flat meal this evening at Ask Italian and I really don't want to go. I don't like pizza or pasta, I don't enjoy their alternatives and I really don't want to spend a lot of money on a bad salad.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/11/2019 19:55

Oh that's annoying @ConfusedAndStressed95 can you bunk out?

Gosh @SunshineCake that all sounds scary. Hope the new inhalers help...and will be thinking of you on Monday too.

Yikes @Galvantula hope you're back to normal tomorrow.

@Mungomango that's weird, can you contact Noom and ask? I keep seeing adverts for it on my Pinterest but don't know anything about it.

That made me laugh @BustedDreams

Ah, that's great stuff @DownUdderer

I've not had many positives today, but here we go:
water, yoga, tablets, 8 hour eating window

Mungomango · 20/11/2019 20:06

You're right @mrsjones, I'll email them to ask them. @BustedDreams Noom is supposedly a psychological way to lose weight as it teaches you about the psychology behind the food choices we make. I did the free 2-week trial which I really enjoyed and did lose a fair bit of weight (although that's probably true for the first 2 weeks of most diets!). I would have loved to have carried on with it but as I'm not working at the moment I couldn't justify the expense. So now I'm just on the free app which is basic calorie counting. It separates your calories into green/yellow/red so for 1,200 calories a day you should only have around 250-300 red i.e. chocolates, fats, sweets etc. Green is fruit and veg and is unlimited and yellow is carbs, healthy proteins etc. It's quite interesting and it has helped me see where I've been going wrong but the glitches are a bit annoying! How does that compare with MFP? I haven't used that one.

@SunshineCake another hand hold for Monday, hope your health improves

Right I'm off to Zumba now! Have a nice evening Northern hemisphere people and a good day Southern Hemisphere people!

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 20/11/2019 21:45

@MrsJonesAndMe, ended up going. It was good fun but I feel really quite ill now both because I'm very full and because of the unjustified price but it's not too bad but I'm glad its not a weekly thing. I'll just have to be careful tomorrow.

DownUdderer · 21/11/2019 03:25

@SunshineCake have you had a scan before? I had a head MRI this year and it was louder than I had thought. They provide headphones though. But be prepared for loud clanks and gears etc and good luck.

DownUdderer · 21/11/2019 03:25

Ps mine was all clear, I hope yours is too

SunshineCake · 21/11/2019 06:08

Thank you all.

I'm up as can't sleep.

I have had a brain scan before but had forgotten how loud it gets so thank you for the reminder, DownUdderer.

Galvantula · 21/11/2019 06:30

Hope you get on ok on Monday.

I'm wide awake too. Just can't seem to settle back to sleep.

DD shouted a few hours ago for a cuddle and I've been like this ever since 👀👀

I think I might be finally getting hungry after this bug though. Going to take it easy though, DD was ill again yesterday after seeming to be ok. Not sure if the food just didn't go down well. 😷

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/11/2019 08:11

Hope you all get a bit more rest today. We were awake at 5:45 and it's just so dark out there Sad

I've made myself 2 promises today - I won't touch gluten and coke - those two are the worst things for my belly and general health...although they're both OK in moderation, I can't seem to moderate at the moment.

As for weight, it's WI day today and I'm at 26.8lbs down overall so seem to be consistently maintaining around the 26lb mark. I will take it! Smile

Have a good day all x

BustedDreams · 21/11/2019 08:38

Morning all!

I’m pleased to report 3.5lbs of the 7lb gain is gone. I’m aiming to be rid of it by month end. I’ve totally overhauled my diet in the short term. I’m eating mainly vegetables, eggs and a small amount of cheese/yoghurt. I’m excluded most carbs for example I’m currently not having my KIND bars, BFree wraps or bread, gluten free pasta etc. This I know I can’t do long term. If my carbs are too low it affects my sleep and digestion. I just want rid of the rapid gain water weight then I’ll start over by introducing small amounts.

@Galvantula I’ll send some of my home made chicken soup Grin. Pleased to hear you’ve turned a corner. You must be exhausted.

@Mungomango I agree that for post people weight loss/eating patterns are psychologically based and deeply affected by our emotions, especially negative ones (eating feelings). I use a variety of apps as I’m a geek for visual aids. I use MFP, Happy Scale & Weight Diary. I did use Fitbit app but I’ve sent my devise back (received a burn) so just use that to track my Aria Scale weigh ins.

@MrsJonesAndMe they are great positives! All of them. You’ve inspired me to get back to the mat, not done yoga for a few days now.

Gosh where has November gone? It’s going so quickly. Have a great day y’ll.

Still no weight loss but tomorrow, or as soon as I need to come up with new food, I am planning on a day or four of veg and eggs with plain fish as need protein other wise I'm hungry an hour later.

fallfallfall · 21/11/2019 16:36

Hi everyone, I’m poking along. Weight similar to previous weights. Exercise has been increased and that’s going well.
Now focused on eliminating SUGAR.
Hoping to finish the month with a little loss.
The increased exercise does chip away at free time to MN.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 21/11/2019 21:32

What sort of scales would you all recommend that won’t break the bank? My highly inaccurate measuring with a tape measure isn’t working?

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/11/2019 21:42

Reporting back. Did it. Not epically great in terms of fruit/veg, but GF and coke free and not over eating.

@ConfusedAndStressed95 I got some from Dyas for not too much money.

fallfallfall · 21/11/2019 22:00

i highly recommend a smart scale that goes with your phone app.
i'm using both an apple watch and a smart scale compatible with it, i checked and it's made by nokia.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 21/11/2019 23:06

Thank's guy's I'll look into them. I dont have a smart watch though.
